    Also, “Good thing you have to kill me before I ever donate blood.” I have always have problems with comments like these, “oh no, now I am never going to do a good deed, because the society is so corrupt”. It’s not like you donated blood in the first place. Why are you being so indignant? It’s like doing any small thing that doesn’t benefit one directly is a grand act of benevolence for them, and society should get down on their knees to appreciate them for their kind act. Calm down. Society is not obligated to compensate you for your good deeds. If you want guaranteed compensation and gratitude, then it’s not a good deed.

      Don’t know about that, but I do know the rumor about the racist troll with no medical knowledge who makes imbecilic observation happens to be true.

      The hemoglobin in the blood cells are what makes them red. Blood plasma consists of water, and other nutrients. To produce plasma, however the centrifuge will separate the hemoglobin from the plasma, thus cause the discarding the red color.

    The OP is not related to a hospital. He picked it up from a trash can near a hospital’s parking lot when visiting a patient. The blood plasma was discarded probably due to damage of the container. The OP regretted his/her post and had apologized online. Relative department is inspecting how the bag was distributed and why it’s discarded.

          I think it’s ridiculous too. However I worry more about the fact that a discarded bag of blood plasma could be so easily obtained by someone who’s not working in the hospital. Both the hospital and the OP were ignorant in a way to directly dump contaminated parts to a place near parking lot and to bring home possibly infective blood products from a hospital garbage can. Hope the inspection will expose more problems to fix.

    i dont really understand what the fuss is about. plasma is taken from blood and is only of use to treat burn victims and used for cosmetics. in the U.S. people are PAID to give plasma from drug companies. you separate the cells. its not like plasma is going to be given to people who need blood or anything.

    What abbie said is true, in the early day, plasma is simply dumped like garage. (As pure blood cell solution is preferred in transfusion scenario) However, it does promote skin cell growth, and the pack only expires in 2014 and would have better uses.
