Comments from Tiexue:

男人中的极品:

Exchanging labor for living expenses, this kind of person deserves to be lauded.

If he was here, I would even go to his stall.

韦不良:

Too impressive, [he] has ambition!

That tire alone, I could use two hands and still might not be able to put it back on~

edimark:

If you give him money, he would even say you are disrespecting him. [I] admire [him], this post should be disseminated further by CCAV.

心太迷彩:

Seeing this is really shocking! This is a great example of someone who is broken in body but not spirit, the epitome of the Chinese people’s indomitable spirit!

andy008009:

My first impression is of someone who is broken in body but not spirit. My second impression is how brutal life can be…

根正功红:

[He] can be nominated for as one of the the people that moved China in 2009!

银翼杀手1:

This is a true Chinese citizen, 10-100x more impressive than those so-called artists/performers. To them I salute!

银圣叹:

Every time I see this kind of photos and report, I truly feel ashamed, [because] sometimes when I am a little uncomfortable or there is a little problem or encounter a small setback, I immediately lose my will to persevere, my determination as cheap as toilet paper.

Look at him, able to do all of this, how much effort does he have to make? His entire body seems to only have one foot that is normal.

秋水2009:

Shocking! Our society’s welfare system has problems. If the country could take care of him, would he be this miserable? He too is a member of the Chinese people, and with his body so disabled, how could the government not take care of him!!!???

ggsh10:

Sigh, [I] truly admire this kind of person. With this kind of person, just giving money would truly be trampling on his dignity.

  1. mothaufckin sofa playa!

  2. Damn, I bet he could kill a man with his toes.

  3. Thank you for posting this story. I live in Canada where too many of us do not know how lucky we are.

In China, and in most countries, it is necessary to adopt to circumstances or die.

  4. I’m not sure what the message of this post is.
    Is it:
‘Wow! look at the disabled man not begging’
    or
‘Look at that guy! He can fix a bike with his feet!’
    or
‘Aren’t you glad you’re not this guy!’

Anyway, whatever dignity that guy had, this post just turned his business into a freak show. I can only hope they pay you extra.

    • Hmm not quite so. I remember a disabled ginger seller from childhood. He has no legs, and his arms and hands are disfigured, but the guy sold good ginger. My grandma buys from him always and spreads the story around. It generates business.

Disabled people who continue to make a living are rarely laughed at. Those who do do so in extreme poor taste.

  5. Btw, who said China doesn’t has talent? jk
Scarsm aside, everytime when I read this kind of news, I realize how lucky I am.

  6. YEAH,you are fking lucky
    Unfairness is everywhere

  7. As a foreigner living here i’m constantly amazed by the courage and dignity of some of the less fortunate here in China. This man is a true example of what we mean when we talk about soul and spirit.

  8. Maybe you will be amazed by the courage and dignity of yourself if you live in this cruel situation.

    Environment shape people

  9. 24 hours and only 8 comments

You’ve failed Chinasmack, how can you expect to excite our imagination with some cripple when there are hundreds of millions of able bodied Chinamen wasting their lives eating overcooked pork belly, drinking shitty Baijiu and watching CCTV?

  10. Talking to PUSAN PUSSY. Chinese rule.

  11. I do think more governments from developing countries should do more for the physically and mentally disabled. What they need to do is trained many of these people working skills and help them find jobs. It’s self-sustaining for these individuals.

For example, when I am in Vietnam, I see so many disabled people begging on the streets. Many of them are also probably abused on the streets. I think many disable people can be trained to perform certain tasks that will benefit society. It will also benefit them by making them more independent. There are programs in the U.S. and the U.K. that are run by the government and private organizations that help train disable people for real jobs.

It’s good to see this guy being innovative and adaptive to his situation. Learning to deal with what you have is a gift.

    • It’s sad that there are hardly enough jobs for the fully capable people,so the physically challenged have to wait.

      • Are you really serious with your comment?

There are a number of unemployed “fully” capable people in the U.S. and developed nations of Europe also. But sometimes, as a society, we need to help those who are less than fully capable like the physically and mentally disabled. It’s the moral and humane thing to do.

  12. damn chinasmack…whats with suddenly giving negative ratings right and left these days?

  13. A true legend! That guy could so easily sit on the street somewhere with a bowl in front of him begging like thousands of other disabled people but he is proving that dispite his condition he can still make some money. It always makes me sad to see people in China condemned to a life of begging because they are disabled. Someone who had a limb amputated would still be able to do some job somewhere. Still a long way for Chinese society to go.
