Hostess Girls Of China’s 2009 National People’s Congress

Formalism (形式主义) has long been a major critique of the National People’s Congress. For all intent and purposes, the presence of Ceremonial girls and hostesses during this year’s National People’s congress (NPC) is a unique sight not seen in other nation’s congressional sessions. Netizen’s reactions toward these pictures of flamboyant Ceremonial girls frolicking on the Tiananmen Square were generally of both awe and dismay.

So many different styles! Haha! Very open minded!

草泥马korean:

I am fantasizing what it feels like to be served as a representative…

季梟:

Everybody is severely YY

peacey:

I don’t understand why a non-commercial political affairs assembly has servants dressed like sex workers, using skin to attract attention, and I don’t understand for whose eyes they are seeking to attract! Looking at the pictures just the outfits are changed many times, did this kind of unrestricted squandering of tax-payer’s hard-earned money obtain the consent from the tax payers? It is only a job involving serving tea and pouring water, why can’t those laid off middle-age females fulfill that role? Are those impoverished students who were tricked into so-called universities unable to fulfill that role?

pathbreaker:

Fuck, so crazy!

seth1002:

Unique Chinese [sexual] characteristics.

无奈后无聊:

Our country has so many beautiful women, why is it that not one belongs to me, sigh…

牧云:

The progress of times, even palace ladies are in the modern age.

jiangyue2201:

In reality they look very plain! From the look of it they are mostly farmer girls, it still counts as supporting rural development!

街角有牛:

Chinese people just love to make a spectacle. In a session full of expectations from the people, important questions involving the subject of people’s livelihood are not been heatedly debated, instead people are probing the outside ‘scenery’…look at the scene of other country’s congressional sessions, who cares about what the attendants wear, whether they look pretty or not? Their representative members are engaging in heated debates over important issues, fighting with blushed faces and red ears.

The songstress girls know nothing of the sadness of a perished kingdom [Passage of a famous poem by Du Mu]

刀疤狼:

A bunch of counterrevolutionary YY members, capture them!

hang26319912:

Some poses are too ungraceful.

ddkkyy:

Sigh! Since it is not some sort of commercial conference, and it is not some big international convention, even more so, it is not a national beauty contest, why do you need so many beautiful women! Who are the reporter’s cameras pointing at? Would those representatives forget their duties at the meeting? Especially in the light of the hardships in the present days, I think this kind of things only exist in China, one of a kind in this world.

xuwenfu1983:

Even if the country have money it shouldn’t spend it like this!
Since they are public servants they should serve the people, why on the contrary do they require service of ceremonial girls, and so many too.
Why do the Olympics can enlist volunteers, but the NPC need to pick beauties for the ceremonial girls?
Heart-breaking!!!

轮舞复兴:

Vulgar…corrupt…worthless.

zrf5-5:

Comfort women?!
