Girl Refuses To Give Seat To Disabled, Slapped By 100 RMB

From Tianya:

These two days, on various major BBS discussion forums and websites spread an incident: on a public bus in Qingdao, a 20-year-old girl refused to give a disabled elderly her seat, drawing the scorn of those around her. A male passenger took our a 100 yuan note and furiously used it to slap her cheek: “100 yuan bill is your’s, will you give up your seat, will you give up your seat…” This incident incited netizen discussion, with everyone looking at it differently.

The topic poster explained how the entire incident unfolded. One day around noon, a lame elderly that appeared to be over 70-years-old boarded the Qingdao 60x route bus. At this time, the bus was full, and the old man struggled to crowd his way to the elderly, weak, sick, disabled reserved seat. A girl that appeared to be 20-years-old was sitting there, her two eyes watching out the window.

At this time, the bus driver announced: “please voluntarily give the elderly, weak, sick, disabled, pregnant a seat” and several middle-aged men also told the girl to give up her seat. However, she refused and yelled back: “So many seats on the bus, who are you to tell me to give up my seat?” At this time, a man wearing a suit, in an old Nanjing dialect, reasoned with her: “because your seat is the seat reserved for the elderly, weak, sick, and disabled!” Upon hearing this, the girl’s turned her head around and ignored him. This man was furious, pulled out a 100 yuan cash bill from his pocket, and used the banknote to slap the girl’s face: “You give up the seat and the 100 yuan money is your’s, will you give it up, will you give it up…” The girl angrily jumped up and had an intense quarrel with this man, but was strongly pulled out of her seat by this man, and the surrounding passengers unanimously cheered.

When the bus arrived at the next stop, the purple-faced girl got off the bus, muttering “hope your entire family dies” and similar things, while the middle-aged man helped the lame elderly man sit down on the seat.

Comments From Tianya:

娄二少:

Feels like a publicity stunt.
Not giving up one’s seat is not strange.
Someone criticizing her is also not strong.
But using a banknote to slap someone…

Sounds like controversy for the sake of controversy.

流沙草草:

Although that girl was wrong, hitting someone is even more wrong, right?

However, I truly have never met someone so lacking in character.

Generally when riding the bus, as soon as there is an elderly, people will voluntarily give up their seat.

紫桑果果:

This girl is too shameless! When a disabled elderly boards, one should automatically give up their seat, but this kind of behavior and this kind of person only makes people BS her! However, the action of the middle-aged man using money to slap her is also definitely wrong. That kind of girl is a low-morality type, you can criticize, but you cannot become physical and even less use this kind of insulting action.

eamdjh:

Whether or not one gives up their seat is a morality issue, everyone paid their money.
That man’s actions is already a legal issue, a personal insult!
The news also did not make it clear. The bus does not only have one old, weak, sick, disabled reserved seat, so when the young person was not willing to give up her seat, why did no one else on the reserved seats get up to give up their seats? Seeing a disabled person yet waiting for him to crowd his way to the reserved seats before raising the request to give up a seat? All of the people in front pretended to be blind! No one on the bus was a good person, only willing to criticize others! That man was especially a SB, and that girl should have called the police to sue him!

风语荷:

Under the circumstances of not knowing whether that girl was not feeling well, what I do know about this incident are two things.
One is that no one on that bus gave up their seat for that disabled old man.
Two is that a middle-aged man used a banknote to slap a young girl’s face.

故园肠断处:

Maybe this girl does not feel well? Usually there are three reserved seats on buses for the old, weak, sick, and disabled, so how come they especially picked this young girl’s seat?

菊花四弄:

The girl is pretty selfish, the man is pretty perverted.

minmr:

Yes, she should have given up her seat to the elderly~
But it is also possible that girl was sick or pregnant~~

挽风如挽袂:

I just question this title. Why emphasize the sex/gender? I feel there is sexism in there. It is as if women are all more selfish, brainless, and need men to educate them.
Shameless man, and thinking he is a defender of moral values, even more shameless.

穿拖鞋的笨猪:

I do not know what would be good to say. I once sat on the old, weak, sick, disabled reserved seat, and seated around me were all men. A pregnant woman who looked to be 6-7 months came aboard. The ticket-seller told me to get up and give up my seat. Faint. At the time I was three months pregnant, felt especially wronged, and told my husband when I returned home. My husband was angry. Actually, that others cannot tell I can understand, but they only dare to “pick the soft persimmons” [pick on the weak, pick the easy situations]. BS.

Comments from Tom.com:

218.89.2.*:

I support this girl who did not give up her seat. Why should anyone be asked to give up their seat? It is not as if they did not pay [fare]. This man is no better than a pig or dog. If it were a big and powerful man who would not give up his seat, I bet this man would not even dare to say anything. This lowly man is just a paper tiger. Moreover, why should we give our seats to those old people? Are old people supposed to be allowed to take advantage of their seniority? These old people do not know how to take the taxi? This man has never met me, and if he had then he would have been in trouble, I have practiced Sanda and Taekwondo for many years, and would easily beat him.

58.213.140.*:

Giving up your seat is a kind of voluntary action, not forced. Not giving it up is a morality issue, not a legal issue; but hitting a person is not the same, it is a legal issue. In the end, even if the man was trying to do the right thing but used an improper method, then the person who was truly wrong is still that man.

123.113.104.*:

One hand clapping makes no sound, impulse is the devil! Makes sense! 魔鬼

125.88.7.*:

The girl not giving up her seat is a problem of her morals, but it is not the man’s place to teach her a lesson. Really going too far.

58.62.138.*:

This girl probably lacks a little proper upbringing, and maybe she was not comfortable or convenient for her to get in and out, so everyone should be a little more understanding to each other! As for this man, not only does he absolutely lack proper upbringing, he also broke the law! He was bullying a weaker smaller person under the pretense of doing something just/righteous! He is even more shameless than this girl!

218.201.118.*:

Well slapped, I do not understand what that girl was thinking not giving the old man the seat, with that many people present and still sitting there, simply lacking awareness and shameless.

125.38.11.*:

If she would not give up her seat, then you should have given up your seat. She did not give up her seat nor did you give up your seat, so how are you different from her? If her strength was bigger than your’s, should she have pulled you out of your seat to give it to the old man?

zhangyuan841:

That man’s actions was seriously too disgusting, who does he think he is? The police? The messenger of justice??? In fact, he was just a hooligan. If everyone was like him, what would we need the police and judges for? And society will become muddled as well, strongly despise!!!

112.112.34.*:

If I were present, I definitely would have hit him so that he would be on the floor looking for his teeth. What kind of ability is bullying a little girl?

61.139.52.*:

Please note a fact: the seat the girl was sitting on was the “old, weak, sick, disabled” seat, of course she should have given up her seat. If it were any other seat, then it would be another matter!

Other netizens on Tianya proved that this story is old and from early 2005.

  1. The Rosa Parks of the able-bodies people?

    • you are my hero.

    • LoL. Nice.

    • Funny, but this is beyond just able-bodies. This is the revolution of the youth with attitude that refuse to show respect for the elderly.

      • Maybe instead of Rosa Parks they should use South Park punk Eric Cartman as their poster boy for the youth movement.

        • He’s a great, charismatic leader that kind of reminds you of everything that could go wrong if the wrong kid got power. He’d inflame the youth. Pretty soon not only would the elderly and disabled not get seats, they’d be shoved off the bus into the trafficked road.

Imagine the great potential for photo ops. Maybe my grandpa is available. THe basard pissed me off yesterday. Though he’s not entirely handicapped…

          • I was speaking of SOuth Park’s Eric Cartman…

          • Dude, I am so pissed off. Some guy wanted me to give up my seat for cash. I took the money and kept my seat.

          • (Specializing in children with behavioral disorders)

The D “Okay Children, stop idolizing Cartman. All he did is sit his chubby little arse down and not get back up”

One little kid, “Yeah but he made 100 RMB.”

            The D sighs in exaperation.

  2. I see that happen a lot on the public transit here in the Bay Area. Where teenagers or young adults just sit there with their ipods and whatnot refusing to even acknowledge that someone in need would like a place to sit down.

  3. Send the girl for Confucius’s teaching for the rest of her life. A less ungrateful human being on earth.

  4. It’s rather heartless and selfish of her, but things like this happen everywhere. I don’t think there’s a country on earth that doesn’t have selfish people, but if there is one, I’d like to live there.

  5. Women’s rights are really present in this posting. I think China’s youth are making huge strides on this issue compared to other Asian countries. Netizens above commented on how the guy wouldn’t have picked on a bigger or stronger person. I totally agree. I think many older men (and some younger) have a hard time seeing women in a more independent role. I’m not commenting on the morality of women’s sexuality (the girl here is probably a brat), but hitting the young girl with money reflects the older generation’s struggle with seeing women less submisive.

I think this is a really interesting trend in China right now. I realize women’s rights are still pretty far behind, but huge leaps are being made. Most of my students have told me how they want to be financially indepdent when older. Go young Chinese females!

    • yea, why does she get the money?? how come no one ever throw money at me huh? goddamn sexist bastards

    • If you have been following CCP history, Women have had “equal” rights in China for a long time.

What you are advocating is Female Supremacy.

      • Woman’s rights are more than laws. I can’t say i agree with the original poster but i also don’t see what you are on about with “Female Supremacy”. It sounds like you have some strong opinions that you are projecting onto this.

  6. When I ride the bus in Hangzhou (which is basically everyday I am there) I look for opportunities to give up my seat! I look forward to the chance. Equally, it pisses me off when I see someone who is perfectly capable of standing for a long time fail to offer their seat to someone who cearly needs it more than they. Says a lot about a person’s moral character, how they respond to an extremely minor self-sacrifice for someone elses gain.

p.s. I say “in Hangzhou” because that is where I stay in China. In the U.S. where I live there is no public transportation of any kind (if you don’t have a car, you don’t have a job). Sucks, I wish we had trains and buses like the Chinese do.

  7. Why would the guy start hitting her in the face with money? Did he really think that would solve the problem? There is no way that the girl would give up her seat after being hit in the face with 100 kuai like some xiaojie. I think the girl was probably a brat, and the guy wanted to look like some philanthropic hero, they both come off looking like d-bags, though.

    • I am sure the girl got up.

the girl deserved it. a guy would have deserved it to.

he hit her because she probably would have moved for money, and that is disgusting.

      • I don’t think you are really empathizing enough with what it would feel like to have some one slapping and rubbing things in your face for the show of others. Now tell me its somehow correct for this to be done to people who violate social rules or show moral flaws. I mean really? What kind of society would that being fine and normal create?

  8. It’s not morally wrong to not to get off the seat, it’s actually against the bus regulation. When one pays the bus driver, a contract had been made. The agreement is that whoever pays the fare, gets a ride by the bus, but they also have to follow the rules set by the bus company (such as making way for the disabled, sick, and preg when asked by the driver), and also to obey the commands of the bus driver – here in Canada, when a disabled gets on the bus, people who are sitting on the disabled section needs to get off the seat once the bus driver ask (can’t say no, due to the contract). This is part of the contract law, thus it’s not morally wrong not to listen, but it’s actually wrong (usually tickets has small prints on the back, read it if you don’t believe me).

Some of the commentors are kind of stupid. They said why pick on the weak girl. Well, most likely, the other seats had been taken by the sick, elder, preg, or disabled already, thus only the girl’s seat is left. I am sure they are not so stupid as to pick on that certain seat, thus it’s got nothing to do with picking on the girl, but more to do with that being the only seat avaliable. This girl is just shameless for not moving.

But the man is wrong too. Words are enough, but with physical action, that’s too much. If physical actions are needed, let the bus driver do it. In another word, both are shameless. One for not obeying the driver, having no common sense or moral, and not knowing anything about contract law, and the other physically harming the others which might result into something worst (assult).

  9. why didn’t other people just give up their seats?? Doesn’t matter if the seats are not in the elderly/disabled sections, just give it up…

    • werd up to that!

    • THERE IT IS!!!!!!! Thats exactly the reason why I have so much trouble accepting China. Its the attitude of letting someone else do it. Why should I make a sacrifice for someone elses rights or comfort?
Its the principle! she sat in the seat allocated to the elderly, it is 100% her responsibility to get out of that seat when it’s needed.

      • Wow, really? An old story about a girl who refuses to give up her seat for the elderly makes it THAT difficult for you to accept the entire country of China? What? never heard of non-Chinese people doing similar jackasshery too?

Come on, man, you’re being silly. The very reason why this is a news story or gets so much attention at all is precisely because of how against socially accepted norms it is. The Chinese wouldn’t bother posting this story or commenting about it if it weren’t outrageous and atypical for them either.

        • Two points.
Firstly my comment wasnt really about this situation it was about what sniper said. I was objecting to the “why didnt someone else just give up their seat?”
Secondly I see the ME ME ME attitude all over China. I see it getting taxi’s, I see it on the bus, I see it in the way they drive, I see it getting onto the elevator and I see it in the shop queue. To a certain extent I have seen this in other countries but no where near as bad as China.

          • its horrible. i have spoken to many chinese who have come to america about the ‘me first’ attitude. they tell me it disgusting and did not used to be this way.

          • HAHAHA Dude, the youth movement got started in the united states in south Park. I Am Eric Cartman, The sponsor.

          • “I see the ME ME ME attitude all over China. I see it getting taxi’s, I see it on the bus, I see it in the way they drive, I see it getting onto the elevator and I see it in the shop queue. To a certain extent I have seen this in other countries but no where near as bad as China.”

Same here. I see the ME ME ME attitude everyday in China and it makes me think of undisciplined kindergarten children in the USA.

        • HEY CARTMAN, GTFO HERE NOW THIS IS CAPT ABSURDITY YOU FAT LITTLE F***K EAT S***T AND DIE.

THE MORE YOU ARE HERE THE MORE YOU ARE RIPPING A NEW ASSHOLE IN THE ABURD-SPACE-CRAP-CONTINUUM WITH YOUR CRAPPY REALIST JOKES AND IT IS RUNNING SO BAD RIGHT NOW ON ETERNAL-ASS-RIDING-TIT-HOUSE (E.A.R.T.H). YOU ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR S**TING A NEW ASSHOLE ON THE WART-RIDDEN-BUTTS OF THE GOOD PEOPLE OF E.A.R.T.H. AND THE GOOD PEOPLE CAn’T TAKE YOU CRAPPING ANYMORE. IT STINKS UP THE ENITRE F***ING TIT-HOUSE AND TWO ASSHOLES DO NOT WORK PROPERLY AS FAR AS CRAPPING IS CONCERNED (if you need the technical details contact the U.N think tank on equilibrium asshole functions).

GO BACK TO REALISM-VILLE YOU FAT F***K

          • Wow. You have an excellent command of the English language. Hat’s off man.

          • BTW Cartman, very soon, very f***ing soon now, some butt-aliens is going to pay you arse a visit to fix this stinking whole ordeal. Belee-dat, it’s going to be the start of a grand adventure.

Also, if you ever see Kenny die, it’s nothing. I use to run with him. Kenny is an immortal fuck-tard. Like me, sort of, except I’m capt. Absurdity and he is not a fuck-tard.

          • Before I go for good, I would like to shout out to my good friend Rosa Parks for being such an inspiration to the movement.

          • Sometimes we teach what shouldn’t be done through absurd humor.

    • If she was in a reserved seat and she wasn’t sick then she should have gotten up

As far as why “the other adults” didn’t give up their seats was because shes the youngest and it is socially acceptable to push the youngest around, its part of “earning your dues”, “growing up”.

Have you ever seen a parent stand up for their kid even though their kid was right and their kid’s teacher was wrong? I haven’t. Its much easier to go along with the social norm and blame the kid

This fucking blame the kid shit happens in every country

  10. The bottom line is, giving seat is a CHOICE, not requirement. I give seat on the bus whenever I feel I have to, with situational awareness, that means I analyze whether someone legitimately needs a seat, and when I don’t feel like giving seat, well, too bad.

    • So, what are your standards for giving up a seat? Same as the bus company’s or your own?

    • Dude, even most requirements are still choices on some level. But that isn’t the point. The point is that the choice the girl made was a bad one. So the real bottom line isn’t whether or not it is a choice or requirement. It’s whether or not one makes the best choice.

Personally I think that choosing not to do something kind for someone who may need it simply because you don’t feel like it is a crappy thing to do. Indicative of the sort of person the world needs fewer of. But that is your choice.

    • My mistake for not noticing that she was on a reserved seat, in that circumstance it IS a requirement, not a choice.

But still, there are complicated situations, what if she has a physical condition not convenient to explain publicly (like menstrual pain)? and what if the elder was an athlete who probably feels more comfortable standing than sitting?? also I think she can sue the man for undue coercion by law of tort, if she wins, would the bus company’s own regulation be overriden??

  11. This can’t be real, it smells of story not news.

  12. China: Land of pretentious self righteousness.

  13. Hmmm, I know it is bad, but I usually sleep in the subway because it takes about 45 minutes to get to my station. One time I did gave up my seat because a woman tapped me on my solder and she face grimaced in PMS pain.

  14. there are lots of seats on the bus. Is nobody else able to just say, “here uncle, have mine instead”?
    This story smacks of China.

  15. thats tight. 1 day id like to meet kai and slap his face with a 50 dolla bill cuz thats all he deserves. what a tool!

  16. This is truly ridiculous, if true.

If the man really cared, he would’ve just given up his own seat. Given how he handled the situation, I think he was just your average misogynist looking to vent his misguided frustrations on someone.

At the same time, I do agree that the girl was in the wrong, as well. What sort of attitude is that? There’s something very wrong with China’s moral system, but then I guess 50 years of Communism can do that to you.

    • Our moral system has been f*cked up all the way

    • Think about it, if the man is doing all that, wouldn’t it be easier to give up his seat IF HE HAD ONE that is. It’s obvious that’s not the situation.

It’s obvious that the situation is, there are other sick/disables/preg/elders/etc. people sitting on the other reserved seats, thus logically, the only seat left was that girl’s (else why bothing only asking her? They would ask others – I mean few men asking you to move, I am sure if there are 3 others, one bound to move). And it’s obvious the man does not have a seat. He has good moral of telling her to move for the elder, I think he would have good enough moral to move for the elder if he has a seat. So logically speaking, he does not have the seat.

If it was me, who’s the man, losing my seat or losing 100RMB, I choose seat. I don’t know where you got the idea that the man was sitting. Not sure where you made such illogical assumption that man, or any of the man who was telling the girl to move, was sitting at all. It’s obvious they don’t to me.

  17. Once again it’s an old post from 2 years ago. Only some details are slightly altered. Websites nowadays really lack REAL news sources.

  18. “several middle-aged men also told the girl to give up her seat. “.. In my country those middle aged men would have given their seat to the girl.

Filthy pig men rather shout and slap than give up their seats

    • @ Yin & ANder Greywyrd:

“At this time, the bus was full, and the old man struggled to crowd his way to the elderly, weak, sick, disabled reserved seat.”

Have you guys considered that maybe those guys were already standing up when they asked the girl to give up her seat for the old handicapped man? Have you guys ever been on a fully packed bus in China?

At least one of the translated Chinese commenters also assumed the middle-aged man was sitting down and thus incredibly hypocritical, but however wrong he was to have done what he did, I don’t think it may be wise to assume he had a seat.

  19. @Fauna:

Not to mention fake or true of the story, image yourself as a Chinese and think three times Why should I have the obligation to render the seat to the dependency group people. Why?Why?Why?

Don’t even to argue with me for the sake of arguing. If you would throw me 100RMB at my face,I will bow to the ground and pick up,say thank you. If you wanna to hear somebody to call you ”father“,give me 200RMB,I will call you father. This is not a joke.

If I were the girl,I’ll slap back the Nanjinger, and say “silly cunt(Nanjing slang) ,I will broke your pennis with the pressure of my vigina.Be piss off”

Background reading : I do not render seat to disabled ,author Zhang Huaijiu posted at 2005 at Tianya ,address: http://cache.tianya.cn/publicforum/content/free/1/373398.shtml

You have good Chinese skill,a bit lower than Danwei, but your Chinese is still good although we do not say Ninmen hao,您们好。

    • do you have an obligation to give up your seat? no. is it wrong not to? no. so why should you do it? nothing, there arnt any reasons.

but that dosnt stop people from doing whats good and moral. because they see something inherently good in the world and more importantly, they respect themselves. but hey if u want to whore urself out for 100 bucks be my guest. in fact id pay u to do shit because i have the money and apparently you dont.

if you want to be a jackass be my guest, its your choice. if other people want to be good its their choice too. they dont need your childish cynicism spewing all over the place.

    • “I will broke your pennis with the pressure of my vigina.Be piss off”

We’re all afraid of the Chinese Viginia.

  20. No point reasoning with these kind of people, they won’t understand and they don’t care.. to them, they are living in their own world.. to deal with these people, either you ignore them or just beat the hell out of her
Do what you think is right and moral.. and you will be a happier person..

  21. @Samel:

You think you really pissed me off?! Come on ,do serious thing with an entertaining attitude, buddy.

I do not hope you guys to understand, but your comment raise an interesting word “hooker, whore”.Here is my questionare to whom may concerned about, your comment is welcome too:

Question: Who would give me a BJ at the following price (currency=USD)

    a:100
    b:10,000
    C:100,000
    d:1,000,000 or above

@Hu ,do not hang around, you dad/mum is looking for you to go home.

  22. so selfish…such selfish girl. yes, you don’t owe anything, you don’t need pretend to be a saint, but can you just imagine its your own old father or pregnant sister.
on the other hand, why those people around her need to make such big thing and force her out of seat, why don’t they also just say, no problem have my seat?!

  23. So China has an emerging Emo Class. Me first.
    Who woulda known ?

  24. thats china for you..rude heartless people everywhere

  25. Do what makes you happy and get the consequences, thats it. Sometimes I give up my seat, sometimes I dont. Depends who it is.

It bothers me that race isnt involved in this story. Would have made things much more colorful.

  26. If the middle-aged man & the other shouters were standers themselves, then I’ll agree that his only fault was the vigilante slapping.

  27. 100 seats and nobody gave to him?, all in that bus sucks

  28. Chinese still think solving problems with violence actually solves the problem? So Chinese….So stupid.

  29. So, guy had enough money to take a cab, and enough strength to pull girl from the seat. Both sides in this story are bad.

Here, there’s a number of jokes that includes young guy and old lady:

Old Lady: “Will you give me your seat, I feel pain in my legs”
Young Guy: “Did you gave seats to elders when you were young?”
    Old Lady: “Yes”
Young Guy: “And that’s why you have pain in the legs”

Until ’90s it was common to give seats to elders, mother, disabled, even young ladies. Now, situation is different. I think “me first” attitude prevailed here, too.

  30. Welcome to the asshole generation.

They only care about themselves, they are selfish and apathetic. You see, when the girl reaches her old age or she becomes decrepit, she’ll get the same treatment.

  31. ahhhh
    hmmmm

  32. I’ve had the opportunity to ride the bus and train in Beijing and many times and have seen younger people give up there seats for older, pregnant and so on. Alot of condemnation for the type of behaviour displayed by this one girl however this type of behaviour is not as common as people make it out to be.

  33. Look like the taxe for people who spit during the SRAS in 2003, only saw on TV of course.

But I’m living in China, I confirm it, in bus it’s the war. 1.5 billion people, who don’t want to leave together, where do we go ?

  34. I think one of the reasons why the girl refused to give her seat was that she considered herself as one of the weak, a viewpoint commonly held by many Chinese women who think they are inferior to men and can’t live without men.

  35. The girl should’ve given up her seat. If that elderly man was my grandpa I would’ve want someone to yield for him. Such disrespectful conduct these days.

As for the guy who slapped her with money, i say what he did is right. china is not a society where legal issues matter ne ways but reverence to the elderly sure plays a huge role.

I guess this shows China’s way to modernity..

  36. Chinese people are like this.. no manner no sympathy,
never expect good thing from them

  37. chasingsky, you cannot blame chinese people for this stupid girls actions. You are just here to flame your racist anger!

This stupid girl should be sent to do hard labour.

  38. You see if this was in a Western Country or elsewhere i would guarantee you that someone would be hurt or killed solving this problem. In this situation, no one is hurt just a raging ignorant child.

  39. I think the best way to handle this situation is from someone else that had a seat to give up and let the senior take it instead. This will attempt to make the “20 year old” girl feel bad about her action. The act of kindness can spread. When some one sees unconditionally helps out a stranger others will see and a percentage of those people will do an act of kindness when they see a need for it.

  41. C,mon you indignant Chinese people.
I am an International Visitor (the term “Foreigner”is actually quite rude),living in Guangzhou.
I frequently travel on buses.I have seen old ladies pushed out of the way by mature (in body,if not in mind)Males,in their rush to be first on a bus.
I have given up my seat to an obviously pregnant lady, holding a child about 2 years old, accompanied by a boy of about 12 years old (so much for the one child policy).
But I digress – the point is,I gave up my seat for the Lady, and….you guessed it,she gave the seat to the 12 year old boy.not the 1st similar incident.
News flash for Chinese Males – Ladies are becoming more educated and empowered -SHOW SOME RESPECT.Dongma?

  42. They should be slapped

  43. Hold on!? How the hell do you slap someone with a bank note?!!? Tha’ts like whipping someone with a piece of string or clubbing them with a feather or trying to burn them to death with a static shock… it’s not assault it’s just bizarre!

  44. After 7 years in the city I have seen some bizarre things, but this just shows how some of the younger generation is loosing their cultural roots.

  45. she deserves it, however i have the feeling that she didn’t learn any lesson from it…

  46. While living in Changchun for a year, I never saw an elderly person or an adult holding a young child ever having to stand.

  47. …on a public bus in Qingdao, a 20-year-old girl refused to give a disabled elderly her seat, drawing the scorn of those around her. A male passenger took our a 100 yuan note and furiously used it to slap her cheek: “100 yuan bill is your’s, will you give up your seat, will you give up your seat…”

Why didn’t that guy just give the woman his seat?

  48. well this is the spoilt generaion, generation of little emperors got yourself to blame China no point complianing.

  49. I disagree with what the girl had done by not giving up her seat to the elderly but I disagree more to the action taken by the man in the suit as he has no right to force the woman into submission from her seat, it’s curtious and it’s not the law to give up the seat and if he was that bothered, he would have given up his own seat for the elderly person.

  50. Follow up from my previous comment:
Here where I live (the UK) the elderly get a free bus pass and I feel that the paying popularity should get priority with seating as they get on for free and we pay for our fares and extra to cover the buses losses on giving out free bus passes so technically we’re paying for them and also giving them priority.
Generally, old people around my area are moany gits and when I was younger they tried to get an ASBO (anti-social behaviour order) on me from the police because I was playing football on my own in my back garden “too loudly”
