At 8pm on June 30 in Nanjing City, a Buick LaCrosse hit 9 people in Jiangning District and damaged 6 parked cars. Amongst these, 5 people died, including one pregnant woman, while the other 4 people are currently being treated at Jiangning District hospital. The driver was confirmed to have been drunk driving.

Ever since a Nanjing TX [同学 tong xue, schoolmate] called to tell me about this incident this morning, my heart has been rather uncomfortable.
So tonight I stayed by the television watching N reports about this incident.
[I was] Shocked! Pained! Saddened! Astonished!
With regards to that hit and run project manager, even if I used all of the dirty, crude words in my mind to describe him, they would not be enough. I am speechless! I simply cannot find any language to condemn and insult! I can only say that if in the end he cannot be sentenced to death for endangering public safety, then this world is truly without right or wrong and without justice!

I am not a very gossipy person nor an enthusiastic fenqing.
I am a female, an ordinary citizen, an ordinary spectator/observer.
The reason I have gone on Tianya to make a post is completely because I am angry! Truly too angry!
After seeing that news, what I could not help feeling shock and astonishment was not just the tragic car accident only.

but in the midst of this traffic accident, the every action of those police officers on duty were such that I seriously dared not believe!
I truly really want to say that you guys are too inhumane! Too negligent! Too inconsiderate! Too disrespectful of life!
The entire road was full of police cars and special police cars. In front of huge crowds, in front of injured victims…
you guys actually picked up those broken arms and legs of the deceased, ran over and threw them directly onto that Nissan pickup truck!!!
That is a very small, old, lousy pickup truck, mostly used for electrical work!!!
Yet you guys actually took the dead and just piled them onto the back of the pickup truck!!!
Are the injured lying on the ground not innocent victims? You guys moving bodies like this, in front of all the injured, in front of all the masses on the street, in front of your organizing leadership!!! Are you guys butchers? Do you guys think the bodies in your hands are just lambs to be slaughtered???!!!
Seeing this scene, other than being shocked again and again, I truly do not know what to say!
I know that at the time the scene was very chaotic, and I thought maybe you guys were also maybe panicked? But what kind of people are you?! You are the people’s police, you understand the most how to defend our people, but with this accident, did you suddenly forget how to handle things? With this scene, did you guys just become overwhelmed?
I imagine the scene had too many people and it was very bloody, so maybe you guys were trying to handle everything as quickly as possible to avoid causing a panic! But even if it were so, you guys couldn’t call 120 [ambulance] to come carry away the dead???
Fine, maybe 120 would have taken too much time to come, maybe 120 wasn’t available! But for the lives that were just breathing a few minutes earlier, you couldn’t give these dead just a bit of respect? You guys couldn’t put the bodies in black plastic body bags first and then carry them away???
Fine, maybe you guys did not have any body bags on hand, but did you guys not have any clothes? You guys couldn’t use police uniforms to cover up these poor incomplete/deformed bodies before moving them???

Facing that woman whose clothes were incomplete, facing that pregnant woman whose abdomen was burst open and the baby who was yet to be born, facing those already deformed victims. Why did you guys have to be so cruel in handling the scene???!!!
What made you guys behave so cold-bloodedly!!! What made you guys not know to respect the dead!!!!
They were all living people!!! Just a few minutes before they were still warm, they were like you guys with parents, with siblings, with children…those police officers!!! How could you guys bear treating the people lying on the ground like this!!!???

You guys handling the scene this way, handling the bodies as if you were transporting animals, allowed the bloodiness of the scene be completely revealed to the surrounding city citizens! Did you guys think of what kind of social impact this would have!!!???
You guys completely could have used a very humane method, and you guys also should have used a humane method to handle the scene! But you guys did not! All of the media, all of the people present including those of us in front of our televisions, saw was the scene of a slaughterhouse!!! This kind of practice is completely without professionalism!!! Even worse is that there was absolutely not even half a bit of basic respect for the dead, for the living!!!
I have thought of many different kinds of reasons for you guys, but in the end there was not a single one could persuade myself!!! I am just an ordinary girl, and even I could have thought of a better way of handling this. Such basic and necessary methods you guys did not think of? Did you really not think of them???!!!
Traffic accidents really are very intense, and that perpetrator truly deserves to be cursed and spit upon by everyone!!!
But what I want to say is that every single police officer there that night failed to live up to their responsibilities as public servants! You should be ashamed before the people! Ashamed before those dead! Ashamed before their families! I really want to say you guys should be ashamed of yourselves as people!!!
I was too angry, so I came [here]. I wanted to tell everyone who can see this post! I feel those police officers should apologize! The department involved should acknowledge that their handling of the matter was improper!!!
I do not have high hopes that you guys will publicly acknowledge your mistakes. I only hope you guys can realize that you guys really did wrong! I hope at least you guys are not insensitive/uncaring! I hope those police officers on duty can express their apologies to the dead victim’s families! Privately!
Really, I just want you guys to say sorry to those still-hurting and crying family members! Return to those unfortunate departed a bit of dignity!!! The basic dignity one who was part of the human race deserves!!!

The louzhu‘s feelings can be understood, but the police are not doctors, they do not have enough medical knowledge/common sense. Other than this, the average police officer does not often encounter such an intense scene, and most people at the time would probably likely have vomited, but given their duty, they had no choice but to move them.
Were I present, I bet I would be even more lost than them. It is very possible that I would have thrown up then and there, immediately gotten away, and would not have gone to help move the bodies.

They have a duty to transport the bodies at the scene, but they do not have a duty to treat dead bodies the way a living person is treated, and what more, they are used to seeing dead bodies!
