Young Deaf Girl On Her Knees, Begs Recruiter For Job

deaf-chinese-girl-on-knees-begging-for-job

From Sina:

A university girl kneels down before a recruiting company, hoping that they will give her a job. At Jiangbei Huaxin Street Human Resources Marketplace, job-seeker Wu Linpin said to the reporter that a 1.6m tall girl wearing a blue t-shirt and denim shorts knelt down in front of a recruiter, both arms holding up her CV [or resume], giving it to the other person, her eyes  showing sincerity and pleading. The recruiter hurriedly lifted up the girl. The human resources organization was both sympathetic and helpless.

五线谱狂想曲:

Sigh, those who can so easily kneel down to beg cannot be solved by sympathy…emoticons|E___6244ZHWGSIB|无语~

emoticons|E___6329ZHTSSIB|拍砖~ It looks like I should cherish my job…

幸福如意a:

Not the least bit worth sympathizing, there is something wrong with her thinking. There are so many job positions that are lacking people yet she considers them too tiring, too undistinguished, yet she can get on her knees in front of everyone to get people’s sympathy.

toniexly:

…okay, kneeling down to beg is a bit ridiculous…

szy:

University students are unusually lucky people, so why kneel down to be for a job! Ever since we were small, our parents taught us that no matter how poor we are we should still have backbone! Too bad, wasting so many year’s of higher education!

shangtao36:

Who is the person taking the picture?
Why is she waiting for you to take the picture?

魂断青山:

Is it a fake diploma? How can it be like this…work depends on ability, not charity. Be brave and get up, there is gold below your knees [means one should not casually kneel down]…

aaa531195403:

Is she truly unable to find a job through her own efforts? Even if it is washing dishes or handling sanitation you can at least take care of yourself!

空气泡泡:

Japanese-style behavior, pretty formal/polite, hehe.

ppumoran:

This girl definitely has a problem, her level of education must be very low, and she is shameless, so sad…

十三少_01:

I saw the news before. This girl is a disabled person, mute. It was only after a lot of hard work that she was able to graduate from university, but when submitting CVs, recruiters won’t even look if it is a disabled person.

csy601115:

I believe there is something she is not revealing, something that would make people feel even more pity for her.

louwalouwa:

Maybe she is begging because she has been rejected countless times already. Maybe her family has a lot of difficulties. Maybe she is bearing too many expectations from her family. Before knowing the truth, do not first criticize. It is easy to talk about other people, but when you encounter problems you cannot overcome yourself, are you never sad and full of cheerfulness? I am sure if this was her first time applying, she would not be doing this. Ten times she also would not. So why is she like this now? Is it all her fault?

贫穷的农民2009:

Kneeling down can find you a job? Is she so naive? Problems are not solved just by kneeling down.

Many people around the world have lost their jobs because of the world economic crisis. Although the situation may be different, maybe a lot of people feel similar?

  1. Where does it say she is deaf?

In any case, this type of desperation is going to get worse and worse.

  2. that is just abnormal behaviour, send her to mentality hospital

  3. OK, I didn’t mean that.

By the way, does anyone know what the unemployment percentage is in China? guess it’s hard to count that in such an unorganized country…but what about cities as shanghai and beijing? anyone knows?

  4. Shopgirl fuck off, you don’t deserve a brain. Your blog is an aberration of the cyberspace and so are you about the human race.

Just crumble in debts and disappear from the blogosphere, you obscene luxury symbol of our era. This is my 2009 wish.

I hope you choke on a Gucci scarf… Would be a good ending for the world to witness. SPECTACULAR!

  5. how mature you are.

  6. People with disabilities still face discrimination in China like alot of other places. Its going to widen when the economy is slowing.

  7. Disabilities can be super-deducted against a company’s tax liabilities at 150%. Was there any discussion of this by the commenters?

  8. This picture is from 3 years ago.

  9. This picture should first generate compassion above all … why are people so harsh? Especially since we don’t know the surrounding circumstances. Shopgirl, not everyone grew up with the same luxuries as you and have had the opportunities that you have been blessed with

  10. “that is just abnormal behaviour, send her to mentality hospital”

Send China’s Corporate Prison System and it’s leadership to the mental hospital. Or better yet bring in Dr. Earthquake and Nurse Typhoon to deal with the so called “experts”.

  11. Reminds me of Henry Poulsen begging Pelosi to bailout his buddies.

  12. One of China’s greatest shames is the way people with disabilities are treated. That girl is lucky to ever have gone to school. I usually don’t compare the US and China, but in this case, I have to. In China what can a disabled person expect? If they are lucky enough and their disability is just deafness they might get into a college, blind, not so lucky, you might go to the blind masseuse. Most people with even the most minor disabilities are not allowed to attend key middle schools, high schools, or universities. I have been in hundreds of Chinese schools, worked and lived in numerous universities, and I have only met or known of a handful of students that have any sort of disability. Unless they have rich parents or are somehow able to fend for themselves in the real world, people with disbilities have few if any opportunities. The people who criticize that girl are garbage and are only worried she’ll get a job they might want. If Stephen Hawkings had been born in China he’d be wasting away in some group home, if he had even lived this long. He has made a far greater contribution to human knowledge than 99.9% of us regular folk could ever dream of. Yes, there are many able-bodied people in China who don’t have it easy in life, and the competition is tough, but at least don’t try to keep down those disabled people who work hard to pull themselves up!

  13. I cannot find my way around the new website design!

  14. to omg: Because a person is begging on their knees… anyone who is not sadistic cannot possibly be so harsh without knowing the circumstances

    • When did sadism come into play here? Maybe you need to reread the translated comments, people are questioning her motives and thinking; equating that to sadistic behaviour is ridiculous.

  15. USTCer… in China, if Hawkings had been at Qinghua and that had happened, he’d have been kicked out. The thinking part of is has nothing to do with it. Amputees can’t even go Chinese universities, how could he.

  16. Chinese People too much, maybe 50 years later will be ok

  17. So, USTCer, do you think disabled people in China, in general, are treated well?

  18. Yeah… saw that. My bad.

  19. Not too long ago disabled people were treated badly in every corner of the world. Who are we to point fingers at the Chinese?

  20. Seems Jerome comes from the school of “your country can’t criticize my country cause we are special”. Call a spade a spade! What because I’m from country C means I can’t criticize anything about country B? What because my country made mistakes I can’t point out what I think are your country’s mistakes? How do you know I don’t have a greater vested interest in needing your country to change than even you do?

  21. Isn’t that how most girls in China make their money … on their knees?

  22. Good, on her knees where she belongs. i’ll give her a job if she can suck me off good.

    • I would like to answer what Sally asked a quit silly question.I don’t know why you thought like that to show you don’t have educated well. most chinese girls are very independent and smart. they have a job by their ability. but I do agree there is some stupid person everywhere not only in China. like the last guy who only have a sexual need. He is not a humam being. look, that is a very good example to show your guys who is a really disabled person and have a dirty mind.

      • This is nice. Let me help you on this Polly. You see Sally, kneeling down in Chinese community is considering something very shameful to the person who kneel and something very proud to the person who being kneel at. Let;s discard kneeling before parents as it is counted as customary.

So Sally, please provide evidence that Chinese girls kneel to make money. And please do not assume. Kneeling is not common outside Asia, maybe you don;t know or not educate enough to know that?

  23. The problem may be that she is deaf and so finding a job is much more difficult for her. Deaf people have this problem in all countries. I am American and deaf people have a very hard time getting jobs here too.

I don’t know enough about Chinese culture to measure the good or bad of kneeling. She should respect the good manners of her country. Good manners are important in every country and I hope she is respecting Chinese manners. I hope she did not make a serious mistake, because she is probably just afraid that she won’t find work.

The deaf have a hard time getting work here in America. I have read that often a deaf person can not find work in the United States for many years. This is often very sad because so many deaf people really are hard working and smart.

Also it’s good business strategy to be flexible and hire a person in spite of disability because a disabled (in this case deaf) person can in many cases make a good contribution to a business and be a good employee.

    • but in china, there are so many people with qualifications that can hear and speak. if you hired a deaf person the rest of the staff would need to work around her, and if they wanted to talk they would need to either email or learn sign language.
she cannot answer phones or speak to the public or even easily communicate with other colleges. it would be very very hard to find a job and very hard to find a husband.

She has my sympathy and my pity, her job market is extremely small compared to able bodied people.
