      I’m guessing it’s a fun, silly video off Youku that has over 1.3 million views and 7000+ comments, thereby making it popular enough to get the chinaSMACK translation treatment so foreigners can be amused by a scene in China life.

    I find this display of raw emotion fascinating. God knows, I’ve been in “saddle stance man’s” shoes more than a few times in my youth. And just like saddle stance man, I sedated my pleading girl with a compulsory hug.

    But, I failed to really appreciate the rawness of those moments. Most of us, for sanity’s sake, trade-in that raw “love” for practicality and stability.

    Still, I miss it sometimes…

    This isn’t too uncommon when rural dudes go off to the University. They often leave behind a rural girlfriend. And they often go to town to beg for their man. If you are girl from a rural Chinese backwater, you have three options: marry a guy with upward mobility, be poor for the rest of your life, become a prostitute and then be poor for the rest of your life. It’s bleak, but all too common.
