  1. Hi, I’m living in Haikou, Hainan and I need a VPN so I can look at my new nephew’s photos on facebook. I haven’t met him in person yet because he was a punk and arrived two weeks late – I had to be back at work in China on the day he was actually born.

I should win a free account because I’m here commenting FIRST, and I love reading your articles!

  2. So I will try and make this my first internet contest win. Why should i get a VPN..hmm many reasons.
    1. GFW sucks.
    2. I can’t ever get Chinasmac from my feedproxy links cause somebody hates the big G company
    3. I am tired of trolling the CS Personals looking for girls to date, so might as well just keep enjoying playtime with home made fleshlights (see post http://www.chinasmack.com/2010/pictures/how-to-make-homemade-fleshlight-male-sex-toy-by-chinese-netizen.html) with great internet porn
    4. Cause my current VPN has only one server, speeds suck and it takes me 4 hrs to read the new articles daily here
    5. Did i mention the GFW sucked?

  3. 1. DONE
    2. DOING
    3. SHANGHAI
    4. You Do Know
    5. Gog won’t give me a free Windows, chinaSMACK will give me a freedur. Thank chinaSMACK!

  4. 3. Shanghai
    4. Porn
    5. Porn

  5. 1. Done

    2. Doing that now.

    3. Will be living in Shanghai when going back for my holiday.

    4. Because I grew up overseas and Facebook/Twitter/Youtube is integrated into my life (yay to 80后). Without my daily 40+ notifications from FB, the hundreds of tweets to complain about everything about the strong BO on the bus to waking up to a new Prime Minister (Australia), and watching Communitychannel on Youtube (way better than ‘Charlie bit my finger’), life is utterly dull and boring….

    5. I ain’t asking a lot, I just want the one month one :) if possible, from Mid December to Mid Jan ^^

    Thanks mate!!! =)

  6. What’s left of free in freedur?

  7. Yantai, Shandong here.

I need a good vpn because I like showing my girlfriend life on the other side. Free proxie servers just don’t make freedom very appealing, what with their limited service and slow speed.

I should win one because I don’t have a western bank account or credit card. That makes purchasing one impossible.

  8. 3. I live in Beijing, whoa hey.

    4. I need a VPN because the Internet needs me.

Seriously. With my absence, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter have grown increasingly stagnant and totally lame. My possession of an acerbic wit and sturdy grasp of the English language allow me to contribute lulz wherever I may go.

Although some may note that I am not a frequent contributor to the comments section of this very website, I am an infamous poster on forums and BBS’s throughout the land. My sharp-tongued diatribes on everything from abortion to the Reconstruction and Building Up of the New Countryside or whatever the hell it is leave all who read them breathless.

I am the Beginning and the End. I wear new socks every day. I am the Way and the Light. I can eat an entire jar of peanut butter in one sitting. I am a GOLDEN GOD. Plus, my mom just commented on my Facebook and she’s gonna take away my allowance if I don’t reply.

THE BLOGOSPHERE WILL WITHER AND DIE WITHOUT MY PRESENCE.

    5. I should win a free account because I am luckier than everyone else. Fortune smiles upon me. Also, my yearly budget is consumed by the following expenses:
Sweet, sweet veal cutlets – 32%
    Transportation – 30%
    Making it rain – 25%
    Toiletries – 8%
    Hurpdurping – 5%

I NEED THIS VPN OH GOD HOW DID THIS GET HERE

I trust you will make the right decision.

  9. Hi, I live in Shanghai and I need a VPN for the following reasons:
    1. To piss off my colleagues who know zilch about the Internet and still ask the same questions on a daily basis, “How did you get onto YouTube???” “Is Facebook back?”
    2. To watch countless hours of sex ed videos and be kept updated about the latest developments in this area of knowledge
    3. To have more (penniless) friends at home who’ll come and use my VPN, so I can pretend I’m popular
    4. To boast about the fact that I was one of 20 people who put the “free” back into “freedur”
    5. To tell everybody I’ve finally won something
    Voilà!
Oh, yes, I almost forgot, incidentally, I’m a teacher, and with a VPN I could access some cool websites for my students! ;-)

  10. Oh wow I’m so excited with this offering!
Ok, I’m going back to China to study in Guangzhou next week for undergraduate study, because I achieved a scholarship (I feel so lucky! yay!).

I need VPN just for a simple reason, I’ll leave my parents so I need to keep updating about my new life with my them via Facebook. Not much, right? Thank God they know how to use internet as well. (yet another fortune!)

And you need to give me the free account because I can’t afford it, since I go to China with scholarship so I’m begging you to complete my luckiness! Please, like seriously!
    Anywayyy, thanks! :)

  11. From Shenzhen…

Why do I need a VPN? Frankly, because mine just expired.

Why should I win? Easy…because two foreign friends & I are about to start recording a short, fake documentary about three solo American musicians trying to “make it” in the Chinese music industry. Starring a brilliant, sassy Chinese documentarian (who happens to be ethereally, Victoria Secret-level hot) & covering our “rise” from local street musicians to the lofty pinnacle & miserable depths of fame in China, the documentary will be available on Youku, Tudou, & dun duh duh dun dun dun duhhhhh…Youtube (if we have a working VPN). Don’t hate on art, Chinasmack. Choose us.

  12. Hi There

I live in Suzhou, and I need a VPN mainly for torrent sites and youtubes as, even at 32 years of age, I still follow underground black, thrash and doom metal genres avidly and without torrent sites and youtube it’s incredibly difficult to stay on top of things. That, and I believe in freedom of the Internet (yes I am cheap, I use Linux too) and it’s infuriating that I need to use proxies to read blogs about comic books/sci-fi/old giallo movies.

  13. the mighty All-in-One Shanghai.

I need one and i deserve one because i am sick of searching for a free proxy and then receiving a notice from them after a few months telling me that now they d have to start ripping our money off because they have discovered that we simply just cant live without them.. all due to the stupid cn policy.. as if its a concept for opening new business opportunities.. which i am not skillful enough to join..

and lastly, i am still within the 1st 20.. lol..

so.. pick me pick me! :D

  14. Hello! I am living in Wuhan, Hubei, China and i would love a VPN because i am a foreigner living here from Canada and it is very difficult to keep in contact with my friends and family back home. I have a big family (7 siblings and 2 parents, as well as a step mother.) Facebook makes keeping in contact with them that much easier.
I should win a free account because i am on your site daily and always reading the articles, also these articles are great teaching material and give my students an opportunity to discuss more controversial issues!

  15. 3. Shanghai

    4. Because the Matrix has me

    5. Should is for you to decide

  16. Kneehigh everyone! I live in Mei Zhou, Guangdong province. I need a VPN to communicate with people outside of China (see Facebook, Youtube, Blogs etc.). I should get a free VPN account, because it’s good for my health.

  17. Living in Shanghai, I need it for two big reasons, the first is that as I enter my 40′s, and many friends from high school and college are too, they want to ‘reconnect’. Of course they do so with FACEBOOK! The other reason is just having a way to maintain a little normalcy while living here. This is home, I like it, but there are days…

Why should I win a free account? Probably shouldn’t, I can afford it, but everyone likes to be a winner.
