This child operates on the Beijing Line 1, 2, and 5 subway lines, only attacking single/unaccompanied women, kneeling on the ground, latching onto legs, lifting up skirts, using needles to threaten, and other dirty tricks to get money. If you don’t give money, he will lift your skirt, spit on you, and chase you out to attack you. So friends, next time you see this kind of situation, you must stop it!! While I am at it, I want to express my admiration for the young girl in these photos, truly courageous. Yesterday after work, I saw a shocking scene on the Line 5 subway. A little boy following a girl kneeling in front of her begging for money. The young girl already tried avoiding him twice, but the boy continued to harass her.

Here, the girl wanted to leave.

The child beggar continues to pester the young woman.

At this time, the girl wants to leave, but the boy continues pestering her.

      Haven’t you heard? They like girls now, especially the poorer families. Girls can go to the city and marry a richer man. lol. Anyho the boys over girls things has kinda been made more obvious because of the one child policy, but boys aren’t preferred over girls in just China. Other Asian countries have similar attitudes. Stick the one child policy in these nations and the aborted baby girls would go up in a shot.

        Those articles describe situations incredibly different from a mugging happening in a crowded area, with everyone watching with amusement. When I was in Yangshuo I was attacked by a beggar when I was dragging my suitcase looking for a hotel, and there were at least thirty people in a circle around us, just rubbernecking and saying, “Oh, a mugging!” but not one person offered help. I just had to give the money after taking tens of hits (there were lots of bruises). This would never happen in America, whether the mugger has a knife or not.

    1) “Risking DEATH to secretly film” — meanwhile in one of the reflections it shows it’s a normal guy taking the photos, pleading for other guys to help people out? What the fuck is he doing? “Risking death” from a 7 year old begging for change?

    2) He says she is kicking and punching her, but none of the photos show any kicking or punching – and the girl doesn’t seem to have much of a reaction other than annoyance through the course of the pics. Not sure where this comes from. Just a loser looking for an interesting post to generate some internet buzz?

      No, for the most part they have a parent or uncle who lives in the city and can’t make enough money so they send the kids out to beg since people will take pity on them and give a little.

      I feel bad for the kid, I’m sure that there are a lot of things he’d rather be doing than sitting on the floor of the subway begging for money.

    I don’t exactly see a brash, violent ne’er-do-well here. It’s clearly just a boy, with no money or means of earning any, who hasn’t grown to learn polite public behaviour, and uses pressure and shame to get his only money because it works better than pity – if someone like him is bothering you in a crowded space with no escape, you’re more likely to give in for the bargain price of 1 yuan, rather than feel silly watching him push you around. I could swear I even saw a girl giggle at his unusual behaviour in that video.

    And…attacking with fists and feet? Granted it might have happened and just not captured, but not one of the pictures really suggest that. “Fists and feet” would be better used to describe that burning (and impressive) look in that woman’s eyes.

    I’ve experienced bigger annoyance than this from a beggar, though just once. He walked up beside me, smiled and said hello, then cornered me by a signpost and wall, grabbed both my legs, then did the display of loud fake sobbing and crying out for money for a ticket home (this was before Spring Festival). After a few moments he started slamming his head into the wall until his head was visibly bruised, and this was attracting a curious crowd. The guy was hanging on and would probably pull me on the floor if I kicked him off, so he ended up with 5 yuan from me. He got up, brushed himself off and went to find someone else to embarrass.

    Maybe I’m too cynical, but I honestly didn’t believe he was for real – most who are like this tend to be ‘hired’ by guys who control them, and they are typically trained in this behaviour to force people to give money.

    Just this evening, I was walking down Changanjie a few hundred meters west of Xiushui and refused to give money to a disabled man. As I passed, he hit me on the butt with one of his crutches. I then turned around, walked back, knocked the cigarette out of his mouth, and continued on my way. He didn’t hit me hard, but I was this close from really popping him in the mouth. In the end, however, I’m glad I didn’t.

    The kid probably learned by experience that by continuing to pressure women most of them will give in. If it worked for him in the past, of course he is not going to stop, his behavior is constantly getting reinforced through rewards.

    fuck him. this happened to me once in a shanghai subway. Not as bad, the boy wiped dirt on my shoes and I just pretended to be asleep, and then he left. That’s usually my tactic, don’t make any facial movements, don’t look at the person, pretend like the person literally isn’t there.

    If you are confronted by pushy beggars on the streets, they are always being covered by backup. Don’t hit them or you will be mobbed, and many of them will have knives. You can’t reason with them, and if you give money more will come. In Guilin I found something that worked, though. Just start yelling 警察 as loud as you can, until they finally feel nervous enough to walk away. I was congratulated by an older peddler nearby for how I handled them (right before he tried to use the flattery to get my to buy HIS shit).

      I don’t mean to be confrontational, but when I visited Sweden several years ago, I actually saw a bus driver drop kick a 12-year old child for trying to use fake bus tokens, so it does even happen in Sweden. I agree with you, of course, that this is not appropriate behavior unless the child in question really deserves it or, in some other way, is just begging to get the bejeezuz slapped out of him. In fact, the “he was begging for it” defense has actually been used successfully in the courts of several countries and municipalities.

      If your story is true, yes it is bad for the father to do what he did, BUT it is not advisable to get involved unless someone’s life is in danger. Your violence against him wouldn’t do any good and probably get you into trouble. Stay out of family situations or at the most break it up or separate the father but ‘pounding’ him makes you just as wrong.

      It isn’t a question of monetary value. It is a question of being coerced into giving money that, without harassment or threat of violence, one wouldn’t otherwise be willing to give. Did the victim (or other victims) believe that there was an imminent threat? Did they believe that they would be sexually assaulted (touching of the breasts, legs, etc. constitutes sexual harassment/assault) if they didn’t acquiesce? What are you saying? “No” means “No” unless, of course, you are more threatening and scary than I am, in which case I’ll give you what you want. Age is also not an issue. Giving in to such requests of this adolescent reinforces the behavior and creates a person who will be dependent on such nefarious methods to make his living for the rest of his life.

    This is shocking that a major city would have a child behaving like this and there is no service available to take him away and perhaps try to help him. He’s a lost boy. Look at all those adults just watching him like an animal. No adult man steps in to help the woman and in a sense would also be helping the child? In NYC, Rome, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, Paris, Mexico City, Seoul, etc., a child like this would never be able to carry on in public like this for more than a day or two…if even a few minutes. China has a long way to journey. If this exists in its major city the world is invited to visit, one can only imagine those large secondary cities and what goes on there.

    I get that what this kid is doing is horrible and seriously if he tried to touch me I would punch him in the face, but who is willing to do something to help him? Even when you see a beggar, you pity them but you don’t really help, you might give a few dollars but what else would you do?

    We as the part of society that is living comfortably in our own homes with internet, hot running water, and all of these things, we’re not willing to really give up anything for these people. Sure if I knew a family who was having trouble, I would help them, but most of the world is living in poverty, how much would you give so that not even a fraction would live a decent life?

    Also, you say that there’s no reason for them to live, yeah in a way you’re right but if you fell into the pit known as ‘poverty’, would you so easily accept it when someone calls your existence ‘unnecessary’?
