Training is good, but definitely don’t hurt your health!

jiao25239394:

If they train more normally, there will be less injuries during war! Support!

中华一儿郎:

This is how the determination/will-power of iron-blooded soldiers is developed!!!

光明乌瑟尔:

Good soldiers are produced by training. Seeing this much snow, I as a southerner am already shivering! Impressive!

qiqiyzy123:

They didn’t even ask doctors if this is actually good/meaningful! I bet when they become older, they will be afflicted by after-effects! This official, acting recklessly! Not considering the soldiers’ health! Should be criticized heavily!!!

流氓雁:

SB…what the hell are these people doing??? Will training soldiers in the future require them to be naked, to save on military spending?

The human body has limits. Do they really think they can train people into steel/iron?

中国空军元帅:

How come there are always some people who cannot accept our Liberation Army’s power/strength, always saying foreigners are great regardless of what they do, yet when we do it no one says a good word.

zler:

Being buried in snow is actually warmer than standing naked in snow, refer to the polar bear and Eskimos.

乔公子:

Actually, the backbone of the miltiary are these basic/low level troops, on these simple and stupid common soldiers…

These days, I always feel the military is divided into two worlds, one is the high life-living fat headquarters and high commanders. The other is the harsh lives and archaic training of the low-level soldiers.

At the same time, the military cannot be divorced from the overall society, and whatever society is like, the military is like as well.

The training for low-level soldiers is pretty harsh, and it would be better if it were more scientific, but I’m afraid they only know to train the body [not the mind].

I cannot verify this but I have heard that last year in Fujian, a member of a special military unit became the first martyr/victim of severe avian flu. Allegedly, the military ordered that nothing must be spared to keep him…I bet everyone can imagine how he was able to contract avian flu, training in the wilderness, he probably had to eat raw meat of wild animals.

Brave, adorable soldiers…

阿尔法小组:

You guys have it so rough!

The most adorable people! They must train, Chinese people’s cold-resistance is not as strong as the Russians (this is fact)!

…so they must train!

For the country’s security, northern troops must endure more of this kind of hardship!!!

I salute you guys!

绝影紫蓝:

Is this going too far? I am a little hesitant, and feel there is no need for this.

西北旺:

I feel harsh training in the military is very necessary, but we must follow a principle, which is to not train recklessly. These days, the situation is much better, we should follow scientific methods, and not let them lose their youth and their lives on the training grounds.

zhezhe117:

After seeing this I feel like murdering someone. I’m very upset. This is definitely making a joke with soldiers’ bodies. There are many methods of training cold resistance, there is no need to be this extreme.  I curse the leader/official who suggested this idea.

  1. Living in below zero teperatures is a technique; Eskomos are naturals at it. But to fight in these conditions takes constant in depth training for months and years. Then before embarking on ‘winter warfare’ some acclimatisation is required. The right equipment is essential in clothing and supplies. Ordinary rifle oil freezes, Petrol and diesel freezes. Frostbite can render the soldier a casualty. Amunition reacts quite differently in cold climates. What these boys are doing here is merely ‘showing off’ They need to go and live for weeks in the Gobi in winter to achieve anything from training.
To my military knowledge the only armies capable of fighting in extreme cold are: The russians. Canadians, Swedes and Finns and the Norwegians and British. These armies constantly train in the right conditions to gain experience to survive and succeed.

    • Being from one of the cold climate countries you mentioned, I would like to add to your comment.

Eskimos live in cold conditions, and with a little simple science, they stay quite warm. Animal hides and seal fat. Warmest boots you’ll EVER wear. Ever.

Humans are warm blooded. We’re already equipped for different weather climates. There is however, a difference in regular blood pressure based on your position on the globe.

If someone wants to grow accustomed to cold weather, short term shock sports aren’t going to do much except give you a few new stories about the blisters. They need to go live for an extended duration in one of those cold regions during a winter. 6 months aught to have some kind of effect, at least, probably the kind that they hope to achieve in those photos above.

    • no hydrocarbons freeze, neither oil,, grease, diesel or “petrol” at temperatures on earth.

There is no miracle to living on cold weather, one only need dress warmly. I have worked in minus 40 degree cold and was well dressed and not uncomfortable at all.

  2. Completely flawed logic.

It’s NOT building cold tolerance, its mental conditioning servitute and obedience.

Chellenges and feats like these are tests, and well, “you’re not a man unless you climb this mountain or visit some wall”. If it were really effective, more than just military would be doing it.

Hey, someone should talk to a homeless beggar about how to survive the cold.

  3. i am american born and raised in boston ma. that is north east
i now had lived in china for the past 4 years living in anhui hefei
and my fucking god all these chinese people many wear jackets and shit even at 33 degrees c.

it is a fact that people in colder climates are able to become stronger and healthier as cold does not create weakness of the body nor the immune system how ever there is such a word called heat exhaustion which has ill effects towards a persons health and disease

those chinese soldiers are fucking lucky they are not being trained the real way to begin with nor are they in severe health risks
the american and European army are trained even under water for 2 or so hours even at -12 – 18 degress c. and on land at weather climates as cold as that if not colder

special army and police must take on blizzards and hurricanes

i just seen the pictures and wondered hmm are they having fun ? or are they being pussys!!!!!

by the way it is ot so much the physical training it is mostly mind and soul

that is what the chinese army trainers are forgetting

they are pushing them to a physical part because the average western army is about 85 – 99 kg. and about 5″6″ – 6″10′ tall

  4. I think they need to be more educated in proper nutrition and supplement that with weight training. I am from Canada and our soldiers are tall and, strong and very well trained. I am Chinese and would like to see the same in China.

  5. what a nonsensical sentence!i think that that ferocius beasts are only living in north america.

  6. Eh! Being ignorant and self assured are the best Chinese characteristics !!

  7. Nah, in China all forms of wild animal are extinct. If you find picture of one, it’s photoshoped; if you encounter one before, it’s actually petting zoo animal released for entertainment purposes.

  8. grizzly bears are an subspecies of brown bears. I think the difference is a litte bit more than just the “name”. I might be wrong but I think grizzly bears are a little bit bigger and heavier than european brown bears. The colour is similiar but not the same.

As for the topic – I do not think this training has any more purpose than to build up the soldiers resistance. We did similar shit when I had to serve.

And no – it is not a shelter against a storm. At least not the way they do it. Check the Bear Grills Episode in the Alps out. (Yes, I know Bear Grills is a litte bit of a showman, but he did it the right way in this episode)

And finally: There is so much China bashing and hating around here, it is clearly disturbing. The chinese postings from tiexu are much more mature. Which says a lot, considering that the tiexu audience are usually pimpled young boys who do a break from their counterstrike game and not grown up expatriots who live and work abroad and should know it better.

  9. drunkards never thought they are intoxicated, dunces never thought they are retarded, crazy men never thought they are mad.
im hesitating to telephone the oxford university press and the national geographic to correct their mistakes of the definition of the entry “grizzly bear” in case misleading the foreign english learners especially from china mainland.

  10. No. When in need of a cold shower.

  11. Definitely, a couple of 19-year-olds playing in the snow definitely has the US quaking in their boots.

  12. depends on how you look at it:
    http://www.military.com/Resources/pics/koreanwar_map06_largerview.jpg

note 9th Army group was sent into Korea without complete it’s winter refitting due to both Soviet delays as well as rapidity of North Korean collapse.
Also note the American first grossly underestimate PVA strength in October, 1950 due the fact that PLA is still conduction mopping up operations in Guanxi, Guangdong, and Fujian against Nationalist forces, and they believed (correctly at the time) that the Strategic focus for the PRC in 1950 is the taking of Taiwan. Therefore, PVA intervention in Korea only symbolic and no less than 10,000 strong. However, upon first contact in November, they then overestimated Chinese strength at 300,000+ and reacted accordingly. In reality, PVA strength was at ~50,000 in mid October, ~120,000 in November and ~150,000 with majority of them being combat troops with nearly no logistical support. (which is one cause of American overestimation, the reason why its offensive run out of steam once outside of DPRK territory.)

  13. Hmm and once we have sullied all the pristine views on the planet we should probably host some kind of global conference and try to cajole all the other nations into thinking its their responsibility to clean it up.

  14. Are you talking about average Chinese citizens? Then luxuries or no, most would not be able to face down wild animals unaided, how is this different from people of other nations? If you are referring to soldiers, they would just shoot the wolverines dead, only difference I see here is Chinese soldiers might eat the wolverines right after.

  15. I don’t know, I bet some Guangdong restaurant owners could make short work of wolverines if it meant a new expensive dish for their menu.

  16. actually in most of China there is no heating in the winter, except for the very well off.

  17. King Tubby

I don’t think anybody unarmed take down an animals that challenges bears and cougars. Why would anyone want to?

  18. PLEASE, you can send in the PANDA bear. They can kill people also!

  19. Yip. Because hunters try to avoid any noise. So the chances are much higher to suprise a bear.

  20. Also other Chinese people and the poor.

  21. That would only serve to boost their economy; Taiwan would just love being a world class ski resort, LOL…

  22. Killing is always easy. Even these obese mouthbreathing rednecks in the US Army can kill people. Grap a SKS and go inna woods. If these obese rednecks can get fighter planes and Xbox-360 controlled UAV’s, killing is even easier than taking a shit.

What hard is to endure. Enduring an enemy onslaught while freezing, starving and being low on ammo, without breaking down in morale is what seperates the elite from the enlisted counterstrike kiddies. This is what separates the grandfathers in the Korean War from the urban youth of today.

  23. Ever heard of ColdFx ? Better buy some shares in that company.

  24. The problem started when “They promise…”

  25. But notice how nice and hard those little chocolate nipples are? I bet they would glow orange in the dark.

Actually it reminds me that almost everyone of my Chinese ex gf’s had a stray long black hair growing from one of their nipples. Really nasty and they would not pluck/shave them as it brought good luck! hahaha

Maybe I should have stopped dating on a full moon.

  26. I hate my country. And the Dutch.

  27. Did your ex-gfs also have cocks? That would explain it.

  28. I met… well… shagged a girl once who’s name was “yellow snow”. I don’t know how it realtes to this story apart from the cold but it still makes me laugh.
