Man Buys Low-Income Housing Wearing Pricey Omega Watch

"I thank the government, thank the party."

So only people who wear Omega watches can apply for economic housing (with photos there is truth)

Several days ago, I saw a piece of news and suddenly realized something: Our countrymen are so prosperous that we wear Omega watches to go apply for economic housing [housing intended for lower-income people]~~~

Old Chinese man applying for economic housing reserved for poor people caught wearing expensive Omega watch.

32,000 RMB is about 4700 USD.

Here is a video of the news report that the above image is from:

The old man is 82-years-old. He thanks the government and the party, as well as his children.

Comments from Tianya: (no longer accessible)

我不懂民主:

Doesn’t look like a poor person at all.

我往哪飞:

It is because he used his money to buy the Omega that he doesn’t have money to buy the house.

TY真无耻啊:

For the economic housing in Shanghai that people make a fuss over, there is lot of commotion over the lottery numbers [to get the housing], but it feels like not a single person around me cares!
The ordinary common people saw through this long ago!

wlsbilly:

What danwei [work unit, company, organization] is louzhu from? Who is your leader/supervisor? Who told you to make this post?

winter2090:

Fuck, A special characteristic of China is that there are plenty of A-level goods [high quality counterfeit goods], but who knows, maybe this isn’t even A-level, and is shanzhai goods, “oumiga”.

孩儿骨:

The watch could be fake.

Can someone take a look at the eyeglasses? This should help us determine for sure.

领路人之带头大哥:

The details [of the watch], the details are the most important [to determine if it is real or fake].

xianyu_0001:

That [economic housing] is a game rich and powerful people play, something that has little to do with the ordinary common people. The probability for poor ordinary common people to successfully apply for economic housing is not high.

1号幽灵:

This is exactly what Chinese characteristics is. Be emotionally stable [don't be surprised].

the_answer_is_42:

These days, wearing a watch is truly too dangerous.

comelody:

No matter what it is, as long as it happens in China, I am not surprised.

Comments from Mop:

我的乖乖:

Thank the Party, thank the go-vern-ment.

I want to speak, but what reason must I find to speak?

拔蘑菇的老巫婆:

LZ, you know too much.

烂烂小西瓜:

What do you know? A [government] leader gives up his mansion to come live in economic housing and you’re not touched?

不文不文:

Too bad cigarettes are too obvious, otherwise Commissioner Zhou wouldn’t have suffered tragedy (if only he could say they were fake cigarettes).

没见过这么帅的:

It’s shanzhai, definitely, absolutely must be shanzhai. Give me 5 mao, hurry.

疯疯不是疯:

It isn’t as if Omega is really expensive, just a few thousand, which is just one square meter [of housing]. He worked his entire life, is he not allowed to spend one square meter’s worth of money to buy a watch?

  • krdr

My friend have Omega, Rolex, A.Langhe, Patek,… name it, my friend has it. He payed each piece for less than 250RMB.

    So, there’s two options:
    1) Watch is fake
    2) Grandpa is actor used to “illustrate” story

  • Clairvoyance

Well, I saw this on the news the other day. The watch maybe a fake but he is no poor man because he paid for the house in full ie. 2,80,000. Who needs installments anyways…..?

    *yawn*

    Who cares? Really?

Everyone who isn’t in the pockets of the government knows that this shit is all rigged anyway – small percentage of low income families get the housing, the rest are sold to the rich. Yes, people are weeded out of the systemsometimes, but that’s generally when the guanxi or bribes run out.

  • Supreme_Leader

Is anybody surprised by this at all? The Chinese are total liars about how much money they have – even the Central Government in Beijing has complained that this is a really huge problem.

PS – Black people love KFC!

    • Xav

Fuck yeah they love it man!!
How comes they so addicted to that shit?

  • 老外

    others invent china copy

  • jstm

As a black person I find that highly offensive. Collectively, we as a people are not addicted to KFC. We merely enjoy the taste of Chicken. We can stop eating it whenever we want.

In fact I will go on a Chicken fast right after I finish this Bucket of 10.

  • bando

My wife told me that appearances means everything in china. He seems to be missing a thick gold chain necklace around his neck that I often see all the local country folks wear in their ignorant effort to look loaded.

  • Chiang Brothers

That shit is fake. C’mon now. I just got back from China. I was in Beijing and went to that Silk Road..that psudo-department store where they sell everything including the kitchen sink. I had to shoot my way out of there. A couple of Chinese guys and a woman cornered me into buying some t-shirts and kept asking me how much I wanted to pay. Then I said, hell..I gotta get out of here. Then one guy grabbed my arm and I was about to start throwing down fists of fury like Bruce Lee. But I kept my cool and knew it wasn’t because they wanted to start something, it was because they really wanted to sell me on a damn t-shirt. I told them a price and stuck to it..the moment I started to walk, the guy started yelling that it was OK OK!
Anyhow, upstairs is a whole group of people with fake watches as long as the Great Wall itself. I got a fakey Rolex..looks badass actually. So I bet this 82 yr old guy waltzed on in the housing department with one of these standard issue fakey watches.

You guys need to lighten up. Ain’t no 82yr old Chinese guy from the village even know what an Omega is..let alone own one.

I have seen so many interesting shanzhai itmes lately maybe a post could be done here on them with photos. Such as -all with well known logo lettering- Flender (Fender) and Ibanoz (Ibanez) guitars. Shrap (Sharp) electronic products. Kalvin Clein (you know) clothing.
