China Abandons 2018 World Cup Bid, Chinese Netizen Reactions

From Mop:

China abandons 2018 World Cup bid, many torn!

The South Africa World Cup final four have already been determined, and with the end of the party nearing, what I want to say is: The World Cup, when can this most influential of human events come to China? As the world’s most populous nation, as the country that just hosted the Olympics, as the China that is currently experiencing a revival, there is no reason to not let the World Cup come to China. But the regret is that the bunch of eunuchs that is China’s State General Administration of Sports lacks even the courage to make a bid, and this truly pains many people.

After holding the 2010 World Expo, what is there next for the people to look forward to, and it will probably be a long time before there is some big event to look forward to. And it must be said that this is is a kind of mental/spiritual suffering for the people.

Aside from mental/spiritual suffering, the economic benefits of the World Cup are also clear. According to the International Monetary Fund estimates, South Africa’s 2010 economic growth may reach nearly 3%. Amongst this, the World Cup itself will account for 05% of this economic growth. Though South Africa has invested 4.3 billion USD to host the World Cup, the economic return South Africa is expected to receive can reach 13 billion USD. Since we attach so much importance to GDP growth, why are we voluntarily giving up such a rare GDP growth opportunity?

The World Cup’s influence has already been proven to exceed the Olympics, whether it is in the size of the audience, broadcasting fees, scale of the sponsors, ticket prices, the sale of merchandise, they all far surpass the Olympics several times.

Even more interesting are some of the details. I always get the feeling that the Olympics have been politicized, inviting this president and those politicians, and they don’t necessarily do the honor of coming. But look at the World Cup, where all the biggest names gather, coming on their own without invitation. Football-loving Clinton came, Chancellor Merkel also came, and all the world’s famous movie stars and music stars all came, coming because of football, coming because they love football. How come I didn’t see Mick Jagger, Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, or John Travolta at the Beijing Olympics?

As for bidding for the World Cup, we cut off ourselves before others cut us off, not even trying to bid once, but already believing we can’t do it so might as well not bid. I really cannot figure out what kind of bullshit logic this is, must success be guaranteed before one makes a bid? If you don’t try, how can you know where your shortcomings are? And when you know where your shortcomings are, won’t you be able to use that experience for the next bid? Moreover, have you ever heard of a World Cup where the host country succeeded the first time they bid? Wasn’t the iron clad 2006 South Africa World Cup stolen away to Germany?! There is nothing that cannot be won, only what is not bid for. Many years later when our grandchildren ask us, “How come China doesn’t hold the World Cup,” how are we supposed to respond?

One generation after another passes away, and we are still indifferent?

Every time I think of this, it is really painful!

Comments from Mop:

Y_Ry:

[We] can’t even make it to the 2014 Brazil World Cup and you’re thinking about 2018? How about thinking about 2012 first?

有人叫一刀:

Because the great Heavenly Kingdom [nickname for China] is fully aware of 2012.

〓风★魔〓:

This probably has nothing to do with the State General Administration of Sports. As for what I think, I think it is because those large construction companies feel that China presently has enough stadiums/arenas to use for the World Cup, and if we held it, we wouldn’t need to build new stadiums/arenas, so they wouldn’t be able to earn any money.

小宇chy:

Think abut it, if the host country can’t make a single goal in the three games of the first round, how glorious that history would be, forever in the annals of history.

ak12332100:

If the bid is successful,

South Africa will be laughing…the worst host is not us, there is China.

Do you want to break South Africa’s record?

↑桃夭夭↑:

We do not have a national football…LZ remembers wrong~

cygh1981:

LZ has a problem with his head, think of how many common people were cheated from just one Olympics.

绿山羊:

How can the lou zhu see South Africa only making one goal and losing three consecutive matches and not be content but want to create a Guinness record for the first host nation to lose all three matches without a single goal?

Evolution_Rn:

It must be said, how much investment is needed to hold such a huge event?
Let’s put aside those embezzling scum [corrupt government officials] and just focus on the problem for the people. So much money, how big would the [financial] toll on the people be?
Let’s talk about this after the government repays the debt it owes on the World Expo and Olympics!

阿加莎柯南道尔:

If there is a profit, it is the country’s, but if there is a loss, it is the taxpayers’.
So, it would be best if China does not do these lousy things that waste resources.

sodes:

If [China] were to bid,
where would the money come from?
It would be us again [the taxpayers].
Only those with mental problems like to keep throwing money away.

猫猫虫ISME:

GDP does not account for everything. If China were to hold this kind of major event, it would just be hurting its own common people only and the ordinary common people would not get any benefit themselves. Moreover, you believe South Africa will really make that much money? Even if they make money, it would all be in the hands of South Africa’s white people. Also, the true winner of the World Cup is actually FIFA. I even think FIFA has been infected by the Chinese Football Association.

黑山妖楠:

LZ, do you have a brain? Suffering? Do you know how much Beijingers suffered when Beijing held the Olympics, how much Shanghainese are suffering with Shanghai holding the World Expo? [And you want to hold] the World Cup? China can’t even get out of the first round, and you want to hold the World Cup? We’d just be embarrassing ourselves!

xilete:

It is better if we don’t bid! One shouldn’t insist on wearing such a large hat when one doesn’t have such a large head. One Olympics has already caused an earthquake, a flood, and a drought! Don’t want it [World Cup], it is better not to want want it!

  1. Its not soccer, its loneliness.

    • in correct English it’s called “football”.

      “sucker” is for americans

      • “The rules of football were codified in England by the Football Association in 1863 and the name association football was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of football played at the time, specifically rugby football. The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as an Oxford “-er” abbreviation of the word “association”.

Both terms were created by England.

      • It’s also “sakka” in Japanese, isn’t that right Koji Kabuto?

        • Please, please. Just because half the Japanese language is bitched out, bastardized English does not mean we should mock the little runts…

          • おまえ死ね

          • @Xav: “Omae” is written as お前. You’re definitely a newbie weeaboo (white Japanophile), and not Japanese. Either that or you never went past Junior School in Japan.

Also, if you really wanted someone to “死ね” (die), why the hell are you using “Omae”? Are you a girl? “手前” (temee) would be more logical.

            (P.S.: inb4 小日本, I’m not Japanese. I’m Chinese.)

      • Damn, dude, you just got super owned by facts. In your face, you loser.

        • @chungwa
          chinese:tells it all!
my boy if you knew a little of japanese you would know two things:
first おまえ is used by men, try and find a girl who uses it.
second and last point of today’s class: even thougt the 漢字 does exist is rarely used when talking down to somebody…
see my little neighboor, that’s the difference between a textbook and real life. better luck next time

          • 1. english textbook learn superior very! this GETS!
            2. you obviously didn’t get it when I asked why you used “omae” and not “temee” when you asked for “someone to die”. I wanted to be nice and not use the words “pussy” or “sissy”, but you obviously can’t interpret it the way I meant it to be.
            3. To hell with how you’re talking to someone, when you write in print, there is a standard of formality. You are writing to someone in text, my friend. Just how if you say “omg lolz i buy new car!” I will look down on you, and if you say “This is absolutely wonderful. I have purchased a new car!”, I won’t, if you cannot write formal Japanese, I too will look down on you. “おまえ” is not formal written language.

          • Xav you stupid Wapanese. Stop learning from anime and manga because that shit is exaggerated.

Or maybe I should write in a way you would understand

xav u stoopid wapanese, stop learn from the hentai becoz u look stoopid righting like it

  2. China hosting the world cup would be like a nation of one-legged midgets hosting a global high jump competition….

    FIRST!

    • or Christopher Reeves in a pogo stick compeitition… and you’re one of those idiots who type FIRST but always end up second of third… what a douche!!!

    • Right, would be similar to a soccer World Cup in the USA – or a table tennis World Cup or one in Geography ..

      • the states did host the world cup in 94. back then, their team didn’t embarrass themselves at all and their performance ever since has had nothing to be ashamed of.

  3. sweet! in china if you want to be happy watch cctv if you want to be sad watch china football!! 沙发!

  4. Is the world cup as distrubing as olympics or expo? I mean, all you really need are stadiums and you could have games in some second teir cities to make them more famous.

  5. Although the money is there, the reputation is not. China is not a football nation, it has no powerhouses in that field. Hosting it would be ridiculous and shameful if the China nation team does not qualify. If i remember correctly host team no longer automatically qualify for fifa world cup anymore. So good luck with that.

    • Actually, the host team does automatically qualify. It is the World Cup winner that has to go through the qualification process like the others.

  6. From Wikipedia –>
“The World Cup is the world’s most widely viewed sporting event; an estimated 715.1 million people watched the final match of the 2006 World Cup held in Germany…”

    • In addition, little to no construction will be necessary since most large Chinese cities already have football stadiums.

A Chinese world cup will be a huge success, just look at the millions of Chinese that went to the World Expo. My conservative guess is that it outnumbers the tourists by 50:1. Just trying to find a place that wasn’t packed to watch this year’s world cup was impossible. I don’t see why they dropped the bid.

      • I’ve been to soccer stadiums in most of them are pretty dingy and cheap looking, the government would spend a lot of money on building new stadiums in the second-tier cities.

And I don’t think anyone is arguing that China wouldn’t draw enough people to watch the games, just that China’s national team is so bad that they don’t deserve to have the cup yet.

      • I’ve been to soccer stadiums in China and most of them are pretty dingy and cheap looking, the government would spend a lot of money on building new stadiums in the second-tier cities.

And I don’t think anyone is arguing that China wouldn’t draw enough people to watch the games, just that China’s national team is so bad that they don’t deserve to have the cup yet.

        • Son of a bee sting! Sorry about the double post.

          • Hmm I suppose not all of the stadiums around the country are like the ones in Shanghai.

I suppose it would take much to spruce them up though? Then again the money would probably be better off spent in the poorer villages.

          • P.S. South Africa isn’t a terribly good team either, host countries are more about politics than anything else.

That being said im sure this would be a profitable venture (just look at the merchandising for Expo!). Whether or not the profits will find its way into the hands of the people is another story. I can totally see the government spending billions on new stadiums though rather than renovating the old ones >.<

Besides, I'm sure China can get their soccer academies up and running within a few years. If Brazil can find talent in their huge country, I'm sure China can too.

  7. Well we wouldn’t be the first host to not qualify, but it’d still be pretty embarrassing. Maybe wait some years when we have a semblance of a football team that won’t bomb.

  8. the reason is simple:
as the organizer of the world cup, the host country national team have to play the world cup, but Chinese team is so bad, and they would lose all their match and so China will lose face in front of the world and this may destroy their arrogance and unjustified confidence that they are the best country in the world, so they retired their bid not to be ashamed of themselves.

    • China thinking they are the best country in the world?

What the fuck are you smoking, faggot?

    • If China is determined enough it can field a fairly decent team come 2014. The question is, is it important enough for the government to put the effort into it? China improved in the Olympics through sheer will and perseverance. Maybe they will not play pretty football, but they will play well enough given the right encouragement from the top brass.

  9. Looking forward to China’s post 2018 bid, where I can see a host team lose 0:5+ for every single game.

  10. If CHina were to host the WC, first, it would have to sentence with death penalty all spitters, Child-take-a-shit-outside makers, Girls with hairy underarms, etc….
Foreigners would think they came for the Halloween!

  11. The country that host the world cup automatically qualified for the round of 32. And China does not have what it take to be in the round of 32. The last time China was in the round of 32, we cant even score 1 goal. We went home with 0-3.

When it comes to sport, World cup is NOT the Olympic. You can not host this event if you dont have a decent team. Not biding for the world cup is the right decision. It would be a disgrace if China break the south africa record of not even scoring a goal.

  12. China needs to do more to get corruption out of football. Until the corruption is removed from the domestic game China doesn’t deserve to have its team given a place in the world cup, because this hinders the development of the national team.

China however would be a good location as has many great stadiums and a huge amount of interested local spectators. Maybe a co-host with another Asian country proposal might be more effective at getting FIFA’s attention.

  13. Sure, China should host the World Cup.
It should also host the Winter Olympics so I don’t have to wake up at 4am to watch the ice hockey finals.
How about the Iditarod dog-sledding race? Olympia Horse Show? Coney Island hot-dog eating contest? Surely, if China can’t improve its football team, it can find some really fast eaters. :)

  14. I dont understand why these dumb pathetic no-life laowai comment trolls keep posting on here if they hate china so much, just fuck off back to USA or wherever you come from. if you want to talk about crap football, try looking at your USA team, usa only qualified for round 2 courtesy of an howler of an mistake by the England goalkeeper and last minute goal in their final group game. We all know why you ugly obese foreigners go to china because youre all reject losers in your own country. Still, there are some nice prostitutes in China like Crystal, she will do anything to pander to laowai’s in her dream to be more western and emigrate. Do yourself a favor Crystal…go emigrate to the west, fuck off out of china you dirty prostitute, we dont want you here.

FYI, you dumb idiots know nothing about football, china recently won the east asian championship ahead of japan and south korea. if they were to host the world cup in 2022, they will have 12 years to develop new players, its an new generation of players.

    • Say whatever you want about ugly, loser foreigners, but China’s soccer team is much, much, much worse than America’s. The US has qualified for every World Cup since 1986, China has qualified once during that time period (and ever).

    • Summer…I am glad you’re proud of China’s prostitutes and admitting China is now a sex tourism destination.

As for East Asian Championship…well…isn’t that as irrelevant as the upcoming Asian Games?

China can’t successfully develop players if the players can’t afford to bribe the sporting ministry’s officials to get onto a team.

      • I like how you’re admitting that laowai in China are just horny losers. FYI, I just went with a few friends to Nevada’s bigger brothels, and I just love how awesome the sex tourism in the west is.

    • There are alot of trolls, but feeding them won’t do any good either.

      Don’t feed the trolls kiddies!

    • Another Chinese dung spewing hateful rhetoric and blaming others for China’s problem.

Chinese soccer is a joke. Not being able to host is a GOOD thang for y’all middle kingdom subjects. With all the face loosing I’d be surprise if there were any more face to loose, but hosting the World Cup will be shit thrown on China’s face…AT HOME!!

    • Another Chinese, summer, spewing hateful rhetoric and blaming others for China’s problem.

Chinese soccer is a joke. Not being able to host is a GOOD thang for y’all middle kingdom subjects. With all the face loosing I’d be surprise if there were any more face to loose, but hosting the World Cup will be like cow shit thrown on China’s face…AT HOME!!

    • Like many first rate, top class Europeans, I have selected to live in Taiwan. The mainland is strictly for US sex tourist meth-heads. Half of them can’t even read. Everyone acknowledges this universal truth.

  15. I am no fan of soccer myself, but even I know that you really don’t have to be good at soccer in order to host the world cup.

Japan and S.Korea hosted World in 2002. While Korea did well in 2002, when the two nations had won the bid in 1996 they barely had soccer leagues. Today they rank below the top 40 soccer nations according to FIFA.

In 8 years China will probably not end up in the top 16 or 32, but if the government cared enough it can easily improve its national team to rival the Japanese and Koreans.

    • You must really need English lesson if you cant make up that rant.

SK and Japan are much better than the Chinese national teams. Not only are their domestic league more organize and competitive, they also have more player oversea in Europe.

It has been a long standing tradition that the host should be strong enough to deserve a place at the round of 32.

      • Oh the irony of you telling another that they need English “lesson”.

      • If you are going to complain about other people’s English, then first learn to use apostrophe to separate “cant”.

In your second sentence, you incorrectly used the word “teams” to refer to the Chinese national team. There is only one Chinese national team, a singular entity.

In your third sentence, you used the word “organize” incorrectly, it should be “more organized and competitive”. Also, in that sentence you incorrectly used the singular “player” when you should be using the plural “players”. It’s also “overseas” and not “oversea”.

Your last sentence is grammatically correct but factually wrong. Japan won the bid for World Cup in 1996 yet Japan has never qualified for the world cup before 1998. Clearly this “long standing tradition” which you refer to doesn’t really apply all the time.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_national_football_team

    • Oh yeah – It was M7 that started it. Er … he’s a twat!
(Don’t mock Anpanman – he’s got a head made out of bread!)

  16. USA have one of the easiest routes qualifying always playing the same countries in the central/north american qualification group. i.e Honduras, Costa rica, El salvador and trinadad and tobago, with the exception of mexico, any country can qualify for the world cup regularly against those countries, even trinadad and tobago managed to qualify, that shows you how easy it is to qualify. Even against such poor opposition, the USA still failed to qualified for over 40 years for the World cup, when they finally managed to qualify in 1990, they lost every game in the first round including a 5-1 defeat to czech. Oh and guess what undeserving country with an winless record (post 1950)at the world cup hosted the next world cup in 1994? Thats right the USA!!
If we were to apply these dumb troll’s theories , USA should not have hosted it either in 1994.

FIFA has historically been biased against Asia, whole of Asia only had 2 qualifying spots allocated to them for the world cup. Asian qualification for the world cup is much tougher than the USA. There are several rounds of qualifying before they reach the world cup tournament. Because of communist policy, China never even entered a team for qualifying until 1982 with the exception of 1958.

    • Weren’t you the person who was just bragging about China winning the East Asian Football Championship, where outside of Japan and South Korea you faced the powerhouses of Macau, the Northern Mariana Islands, Mongolia, and Guam? And you’re complaining about weak competition?

Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.

    • I honestly don’t care if China hosts the World Cup or not. I don’t see the problem with it. Although they do seem to be busy with other events right now, we are talking about 12 years from now.

Let’s be clear about your last statement, though. Honduras and Costa Rica have FIFA rankings ahead of Japan and Korea (and any other Asian team). Even El Salvador has better FIFA rankings than China. CONCAF has 2 top 20 teams to Asia’s…. 0.

Do you really want to compare Costa Rica or El Salvador with the teams like Mongola and Thailand in the Asian group? It has never been easier to qualify in CONCAF than in Asia. Now that Asia has 3 slots like CONCAF, even teams like North Korea can qualify for the cup! This, if anything, could be used to prove that the 3rd slot for Asia isn’t really necessary.

  17. it is something that can show our muscle that our great mother only take initiative to do!! OK?

  18. That would be great for China and far more interesting. Considering the average people who travel to see football matches, there would be plenty of work for pronstitutes, drug dealers, fake markets, and police as well. Can you imagine thousands of supporters invading bars in Chongqing, Guangzhou, etc? I can’t wait for this

  19. How about getting rid of corruption in football in China first and then sort out the national game before even considering a bid. If China hosted the World Cup, it wouldn’t be the best team who wins it, it would be the one who pays the officials most. We would see refereeing worse than that for South Korea during their World Cup.

    • If it makes you feel any better, the refs come from around the world. It wouldn’t just be Chinese referees. I agree that the refereeing in South Korea was awful, but that wasn’t South Korean refs, was it?

The corruption really hurts the Chinese team more than anything else. Because of it, they don’t necessarily field their best players (or best coaches).

    • You’re all talk. You know nothing about football. It’s really boring. How would China hosting the event affect the refereeing? Do you imagine they will only use Chinese referees, even in the light if FIFAs latest pledge to improve the system in terms of technolgy and refereeing? Go back to your concrete cave, dream skipper.

  20. Having a world cup in China would make more sense that having it in the US, like they did in 1994. At least most people would actually get enthusiastic, since the Chinese get enthusiastic about pretty much anything, from the olympics to the expo. Plus I bet it would generate a wave of interest in football which would much improve the level of the game in the world’s most populous nation. It might actually not be a bad idea.

  21. Soccer. A word invented and first used by the English, not Americans. More importantly, how can you have 1.3 billion people and not have a decent soccer team? Ecuador finished 4th with only 3 million people so let them host in 2018. The next world event China should host is the “Welcome back, Dali Lama!” festival. Welcoming him back to die in his homeland as the true religious leader of ancient Tibet would make the world instantly love China in more ways than Expo, Olympics, and World Cup could ever. Even if the Lama is not who he says he is and the entire world (except super smart Chinese) has been fooled by him, it would still be seen as a great world event promoting peace between enemies. Imagine a parade and party live on tv as the Lama makes his way up the mountains past waving Han and Tibetans. The whole world would watch. The Chinese might shock the world into thinking “maybe they are nice, after all”. The world could use a good story like that. It’s nothing but bad news and fighting out there. The world has no idea Expo is even happening. It’s another “for Chinese, by Chinese” event. Beijing Olympics is only in Chinese minds now. And why waste all that money just to chase poor Chinese out of their rightful home ownerships to “clean up” another city for another “world” event.

  22. i guess the reason behind why the government didn’t bid for the 2018 world cup is that they don’t want their team to lose in round 1 with 0 zero goal while losing 9 goal-against like they did in 2002 world cup.

that would look really really bad in front of the population. hell, it might even provoke an uprising!

    • fucks sake, it got nothing to do with the eventuall drop at the first round. the real reason is, a worldcup is expensive, and the chinese government cant scam their people via stockings for another time, because theyve stolen from their people for the last olympics already.

  23. Bring the World Cup to China as this will bring many benefits. Soccer will probably become the most popular sport in China after a World Cup Event.

Bring the World Cup to China!!!

  24. Chine is the second bigger economy int the woorld why did they not bid, look at Sa the WC changed us forever

  25. I can’t even understand wtf your point is you stupid piece of shit. “Awesome” foreigner my ass.

  26. He’s calling foreigners in China fat ugly losers. He didn’t say, imply, or insinuate all people in China are the former. l2reed.

  27. For the love of…

Some people who end up in the west are also losers who couldn’t make it back home. By your flimsy-ass logic you are also implying the west are cesspools too dipshit.

    Typical western high-horse faggotry.

  28. And american is good at grabbing their crouch and stand for hours in a game call baseball.

And when they want to be competitive, they sent all the black guys they got to the NBA and NFL.

American national team wouldnt qualified if they were in the European division. The north america division is so bullshit.

  29. Someone’s butt hurt that USA couldn’t win (or even get close to) the gold medals in sports where fucking balls or black men aren’t involved.

  30. you sound more fenqing than any fenqing I’ve ever known

  31. The US doesn’t have the best soccer team in the world. They are improving though and they field a decent team. Suggesting that they don’t deserve a spot at the WC is silly at best.

USMNT took 2nd place in Confederations Cup last year, after losing to Brazil 3-2 in the final. They beat Spain, by the way, which only got 3rd. Saying that the USMNT is not competitive at the European level goes against all facts. [Go read about last years cup.]

Despite a number of the USMNT players missing the World Cup this year, they still finished on top of their group. They tied England, a European team; beat Algeria, one of the highest ranked teams in Africa; and tied Slovakia, another European team (although that should have counted as a win).

I just saw another comment above that suggests that the Asian division is somehow harder to qualify in than CONCAF. That’s dishonest; the US and Mexico both rank around 15, but there are a lot of countries in CONCAF (Honduras, Costa Rica, etc) that rank higher than any single Asian team. Yes, Costa Rica ranks higher than Japan or Korea. Asian teams may be improving, but as it stands, CONCAF is more competitive by far. A team like North Korea would not have made it through CONCAF.

Also, I would like to take a second to point out that the USWNT is ranked #1 in the world in the FIFA rankings. Yes, U.S. womens soccer is considered the best in the world.

  32. Meh, that should have ready CONCACAF. I missed a CA for some reason.

Typos aside, there’s no good reason to believe that the #1 team in CONCACAF couldn’t qualify in the European division. The U.S. and Mexico both have a fairly competitive record against UEFA teams. It’s the South Americans that give them the most trouble.

  33. You’re right, it’s hard to explain the agony I feel that America can’t compete in the exciting world of badminton, table tennis, and rhythmic gymnastics.

Oh, and also don’t forget to check up on every single Winter Olympic sport that exists.

  35. jones is loser! so stupid

  36. Translation: I’m an american faggot who can’t comprehend how people like different things than me.

  37. 2008 Summer Olympics China Gold Medal Count: 51
2008 Summer Olympics USA Gold Medal Count: 36

2010 Winter Olympics China Gold Medal Count: 5
2010 Winter Olympics USA Gold Medal Count: 9

I’m sorry what I didn’t catch what you were saying over how USA has -11 gold medals over China.

Note: do not even try to bring up total medal bullshit because there is only one real winner in each event. Also, do your fucking homework before speaking.

I didn’t know that the USA generally wins medals in swimming, shooting, and rowing. Instead of acknowledging that I was wrong and conceding the point, I am going to jump straight to ad hominem and call you names.

    Truth:

I don’t understand why we can’t include black athletes, since they are just as American as the rest of us. I realize there are some countries where ethnic background and nationality tend to be one and the same, but there is no reason for Americans to exclude people based on race. We have Asian athletes as well, and I don’t have any issue counting them among us. Do you?

    Truth:

This article is about the Chinese MNT and soccer (a ball sport). King Tubby’s comment was about how the Chinese seem to do well in sports that require young children to go through repetitive training and harsh conditions (that would be illegal in many places). You haven’t said a single thing to deny this.

The topic of conversation follows a logical progression here:

    1. China’s retraction bid for the WC
    2. Problems with the Chinese MNT and Chinese soccer corruption
    3. Problems with Chinese sports management

But then suddenly, it changes to:

    4. USA is incapable of winning medals in international sports

I recommend this article, which explains why this is a lame, lame argument.

  39. First off, there is no logical progression on the comments section of chinasmack. We went from the chinese retraction of the bid to no where. You’re so called transistion into problems about chinese sports management was a statement that compared Liu Xiang to a mongrel dog.

Also, do I really need to say anything about the whole underage gymnastics bs when the IOC has already clarified the whole situation?

King Tubby’s comment was that China is only good at “kiddie porn” sports and I replied with obvious sarcasm (which flew over your fucking head) that the US was only good at ball sports and sports with black men.

box: I only looked at TTOZ’s comment without context to the whole thing and I shouldn’t do that =’(

  40. I hate to drag this on forever but what you just said is ridiculous. Bashing the US over one individual’s comments about China (in a Chinese forum about China) is a lame argument. It’s obnoxious and it doesn’t do anything to to help.

You are just distracting people from actual arguments and it’s not the only place you have done this. “The US is a bad” is not an appropriate reply to “There are problems in China”. It’s called ignoratio elenchi, or in modern terms… irrelevant and stupid.

If you wanted to point out that the Chinese women can compete in “adult” sports, you could mention that the Chinese WNT performs reasonably well in soccer, and has a number of
medals. I have no idea what the mongrel dog comment is about, but I find that ignoring racist remarks or calling people out on them are both preferable to bashing other people.

There has also been a fair amount of forgery for under-aged competition in gymnastics. A 2000 medal was stripped, warnings were issued in 2004, and there were suspicions in 2008 that the forgeries had simply improved in response to the 2000 and 2004 issues. We are talking about child abuse for the sake of a gold medal here. It’s unfair to the kids (and it’s against the rules).

PS: Do you mean sarcasm as in an “insult” or “taunt”? If so, I don’t see how this has anything to do with my comments.

Or do you mean sarcasm as in ironic sarcasm? As in you mean the opposite of what you said?

Eg. You really meant Americans are great at non-ball game sports, especially when African-Americans are not involved!

Or do you perhaps not know what sarcasm means?

  41. I bashed USA in response to a fucktard bashing China. I didn’t make any arguments. I can’t fucking believe you still don’t understand this.

I’m distracting people from arguments? What arguments? Gymnastics and diving are kiddie porn sports? The gymnasts are underage despite the fact that we can’t find any concrete evidence and only rely on suspicions?

And stop writing random shit. I didn’t say anything about “chinese women competing in adult sports” which you means you can stfu about that.

I don’t know sarcasm? Keep reading what I wrote until your tiny brains gets it.

  42. TTOZ:Someone’s butt hurt that USA couldn’t win (or even get close to) the gold medals in sports where fucking balls or black men aren’t involved.

Box:Here are plenty of sports where the USA regularly wins gold medals in sports where balls or black men aren’t involved

TTOZ:In the 2008 Summer Olympics, China won more gold medals than the USA

Box:Okay. I don’t have a problem with that. It doesn’t change the fact that your first statement was wrong, however.

  43. See above.

    Comment was too short lol?
