Diamond ring.

Diamond ring.

From QQ & NetEase:

Man who picked up a stranger’s lost diamond ring and then threw it away ordered to pay 46,000 [RMB]

Summary: Zhang X previously found a diamond. At the time, [he] believed it was a fake diamond so he simply threw it away. The person who lost it, Ms. Wang, found Zhang X through the police, and then took Zhang X to court. At present, Beijing Second Intermediate Court’s final ruling is that Zhang X did not take care of the lost property he found, and even had subjective intent, so he should compensate Ms. Wang 46,000 yuan in losses.

This SB, why didn’t he just insist that he never saw it, why did he have to say he threw it away, does he know nothing about the law…?

网易辽宁朝阳网友:

How did they appraise it to be a 46,000 yuan ring, especially if the ring is already gone?

网易火星网友:

A piece of advice for everyone, don’t pocket anything you pick up! Everything on the streets you must not touch, [because] that just might be a trap!

网易上海网友:

I question the judge’s level of law enforcement, my reasons below:
1. Which law stipulates that the person who finds a lost article is responsible for safeguarding it?
2. How was the ring’s value determined? Just video or purchase evidence is not enough to prove its value, the item must be obtained for proper appraisal first before it can be certain.
3. The person who lost the article herself lost the ring, so then she herself did not fulfill her responsibility for safeguarding, so she must bear some of the loss.

Some general of the Heavenly Kingdom [China] visited Mongolia, and strangely asked, “Your Mongolia does not have an ocean, so why do you have a navy?”
The Mongolian general disdainfully replied, “Don’t you guys also have courts?”

网易火星网友:

What kind of joke is this? So if one day someone’s wife runs away and i see it but did not stop her, am I supposed to compensate that person with a wife?

网易福建福州网友:

Go buy a fake diamond ring…then throw it on the street…then…you will become rich….

网易山东青岛网友:

Those above take note, in China, if you don’t want to be screwed, don’t go help those down and out people on the streets you see, don’t go pick up whatever wealth on the streets you see also, just protect yourself and nothing bad will happen, do you acknowledge this point?

Don’t go help others, okay. The same, don’t go touch anything of value found on the street, because if you touch it and others find out, it will be on your head, and you deserved it. A diamond ring worth over 40,000, as long as you are not a dummy, you can tell the value from the workmanship. It is obvious that the person who found it simply isn’t willing to return it, and yet he gets so many people’s sympathy, I really can’t believe you guys. Try to put yourselves in the positions of the two sides. If you were the person who found it, what would you do? If you say you would be greedy and keep the diamond ring, then you too should not stand on the finder’s side arguing that he definitely would not be greedy and keep it. If you were the owner who lost it, what would you do? If you would be upset that the person who found and then “threw away” the diamond ring that could have been found, then you also please understand the owner’s current feelings!!!

This verdict is really fresh/interesting! Looks like Beijing’s judges don’t lose to Nanjing judges! [Beijing judges refuse to let Nanjing judges be worse than them.]

腾讯芜湖市网友:

Teach this unlucky person who found something to go to a street vendor and find something that looks about the same, and say that was what you found, and whoever wants it can have it.
Another, please learn your lesson, things on the ground must never be picked up.
When I see people drop something, I always just yell to them, and absolutely never get near it—-This society is truly too complicated [You never know what may happen].

腾讯威海市网友:

Haha poor people are poor people. Never seen a diamond before, eh!!! Sigh, so sad.
Always remember that the law stands on the side of people with money and power!!!!!

腾讯网友:

Indirectly encourages the ordinary common people to not recklessly pick up things on the ground. At anytime it could be solid RMB….such bullshit!

Maybe the man is too greedy,
Found something, doesn’t want to return it, wants to keep it,
These kind of things are hard to be certain,
You may know a person’s face but not his heart [his true intentions].
