Kaka Refused To Exchange Jerseys With Jong Tae-Se

卡卡称赞郑大世表现出色

Kaka praising Jong Tae-Se's outstanding performance.

North Korea was defeated by Brazil 2 – 1 on June 15. Chinese netizens, already moved by the reaction of Korean star Zheng Dashi (aka Jeong Dae-Se) to his country’s national anthem (read more at this chinaSMACK translation), found Brazilian player Kaka’s reaction to meeting Zheng after the match noteworthy.

From NetEase:

South Korean Media: Zheng Dashi’s plays at least as well as Kaka, but his request to exchange jerseys is “refused”.

In the preliminary round of the world cup, Brazil defeated North Korea 2 – 1. The star players of the two sides, Kaka and Zheng Dashi had mixed performances, but after the game Kaka “refused” to exchange jerseys with Zheng.

At the end of the game, Zheng Dashi approached the Brazilian team’s area, hoping to speak with Kaka. Kaka praised Zheng’s lively play, after which Zheng requested that they exchange shirts. It might have been that Kaka didn’t understand that Zheng’s hand gestures meant “Take off your shirt, fold it, and give it to me, I’ll do the same with mine”; in any case Kaka turned away and left, leaving Zheng standing on his own, looking very awkward.

Comments from NetEase:

网易北京网友:

Keep proving yourself and one day Kaka, that tortoise-hair, will be coming to you looking to exchange shirts! [I suspect tortoise-hair is some kind of insult.]

网易浙江杭州网友:

In 2002, after China played Brazil in the preliminary stage the Chinese team went to the Brazilian team to exchange jerseys.

A whole bunch went, but not one received a shirt in return.

网易火星网友:

Just looking at this match, Kaka’s performance was nowhere near as good as Jong Tae-Se’s.

网易浙江宁波网友:

Maybe Kaka said to him: “Wait until I improve a bit, then let’s exchange shirts! The way I’m playing, it wouldn’t be a fair trade!”

网易加拿大网友:

You can see what a country is like from the way they play football.

网易广东中山网友:

Kaka just didn’t understand what Jong Tae-Se was trying to say! NetEase is talking crap, what do they mean “refused”?!!!

网易辽宁抚顺网友:

Why did Tae-Se cry? I bet he doesn’t know how to sing the North Korean anthem.

网易北京网友:

Not necessarily, because he is South Korean and he originally wanted to be on the South Korean team, but they didn’t want him.

网易辽宁抚顺网友:

The North Koreans only have two jerseys each. If they give one to someone they can’t get it back, so they can’t exchange shirts.

网易陕西西安网友:

The Chinese team plays for money and fame, but the North Korean team plays to struggle against imperialism!

网易上海网友:

If the North Korean team plays badly, they are sent to work in mines when they get home. Regardless of how the Chinese team plays, they don’t have to work in mines. This is the difference!

网易浙江杭州网友:

Since the one thing our country has is money, let’s just choose 20-30 children in their early teens. Send them to Italy’s Inter Milan or some other top team for training. Every year we’ll pay them some amount of money. That bunch of children also wouldn’t have to come home (As soon as they return, they’d become pigs). Only when there are national games would we call them out to play. Even though they wouldn’t have much emotional connection, at least what flows in their body is still Chinese blood. Don’t know if such a thing is possible.

  1. FIRST

oh yeah baby i am first blah blah blah.

piss people off. i am first. trolls ftw

  2. what kaka refused was not the exchange, but loneliness.

  3. here.
some people really believe the bullshit that If they lose the game or play badly, Korean Korean Player would be sent to mine to work…..
    haha…
North Korea is a little weird country. However Not a unreasonable bullshit. Outside China, I heard a lot of bullshits about China. I am really surprised at the fact that even Chinese belittle North Koreans saying they are poor and under the dictatorship. If Chinese would do that, They have to receive the same belittling from South Koreans since compared with S.K. China is poor and dictatorship.. Some Chinese here should have known better..

    • do you know anything about north korea? its not just a little wierd. the government brainwashes and controls everyone in the entire population. everyone lives and works for the “dear leader”. i wouldn’t be surprised if they were sent to mine or forced to become spies to kidnap south koreans directors to make bad Godzilla ripoffs. its nuts over there. also they are poor and starving and depend on china economically now that the south koreans want to boycott them cuz they sunk one of their ships or w/e

      • I’m sure not everyone is brainwashed to work for their “dear leader” they work to survive, otherwise there wouldn’t be so many people trying to escape and cross the boarders from their “Dear Leader”. Just like for China where western media go on about the people being brainwashed, just reading some random Chinese netizen comments will tell you likewise. the people there use “Government official” and “corrupt” almost synonymously. It’s a difficult decision, you either speak up and end up “disappearing” or you whine a bit online and live.

  4. BTW tortoise hair means public hair

  5. People who have heated emotions about stuff like this are dumb, nationalistic and in need of psychiatric help.

  6. Faux Pas strikes again.

  7. No misunderstanding: Guy wants to keep his jersey, so what? Big deal.

Misunderstanding: These happen every day, every minute, everywhere.

Nothing better to post than this crap?

How funny it is that media can take a photo, reference to a touching moment, and take a simple denial of something-thats-none-of-your-business and make zhang the victim.

Seriously. WHO CARES! AND WHO CARES ABOUT FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!

  8. People REALLY are overreacting here.

    • Gotta agree with ya. Quite frankly, the guy isn’t obligated to give away his shirt….seriously, how dumb is that…
Being called an ahole for not wanting to give it up is unfair to him.

  9. my shirt ~ my rules :D

  10. Kaka didnt understand what the korean guy said. And, the brazilians players didnt exchange t-shirts with China for a very good reason: CHINA SUCK AT FOOTBALL! Who would wear a crap shirt like chinese football team shirt!? ( Only if you are stupid or, which is almost the same, chinese)!

  11. If I was Kaka I would have said “here take my shirt, and tell that psychotic fucker Kim Jong Il to shove it up his ass you commie motherfuckers.”

  12. Arrogant fucker.

What can a North Korean football-player do about Kimmy?

This is no reason to deny a fellow player, who played respectable and fair, this basic act of sportmanship and courtesy.

seriously. The western world and their ingrained political paranoia and ideological xenophobia is as bad as the brainwashing of the Norks – only more severe, since they seriously think arrogantly, that they are in the right the entire time.

Back then in WWI, German Landsers and French Soldiers celebrated Christmas together in the mids of Verdun; ignoring the fact that they where odered to kill each other on sight.

And now, self-rightous, arrogant fucks refuse to grant this basic act of courtesy and respect to an enemy IN A FUCKING FOOTBALL GAME!

    what a shame.

    • who wants to exchange shirt with a twat whose name is ‘caca’!

    • Hypothetically, what if he promised the jersey to say…his nephew, or some child of a friend who’s dying from cancer?
These jerseys are commodities in a way and very popular with family, friends, fans, etc. He may want to just keep it as a keepsake. The guy is not acting in an unsportsmanlike manner for not giving away his shirt. Going up to him for a handshake and getting that hand slapped away would be unsportsmanlike.
What your implying is that the guy has to give up his shirt to any opposing player who asks for it or else be labeled an ahole.

While I agree that he may be an ahole, he isn’t an ahole for not giving up his shirt m’kay….

      • I agree. Honestly, there is no guarantee anyway that Jong Taw-Se would have been able to keep the Jersey even if they had switched anyway. I can see it having to be handed over to Kim Jong Il anyway. :/ Though it would have been a nice gesture from Kaka, there really isn’t any obligation on his end. Especially if he already had plans for it or didn’t understand.

    • UNBELIEVABLE……….

So he didnt wanted to exchange jerseys…. SO WHAT???

What a bunch of supersensitive sissys you all are!!!!!

OOOhh National pride is offended, because Kaka didnt wanted to exchange his jersey!!

      Go fish turtles, gays

  13. As a Brazillian, i would like to sorry this actitude of Kaká didn’t accept to change the Jersey with a North korean player.
I want to believe that he doesn’t understand or something happen during the game. But it’s not reason to do something like this.

    • Rooney of Asia, Jong Tae-shirts win Robinho and Kaka jerseys.
North Korean striker changed his uniform with the attacker on the lawn and then went to the locker room to get to 10.

Jong Tae If North Korean striker Rooney dubbed Asia, won two gifts on the night of last Tuesday in Johannesburg: shirts Robinho and Kaka, the Brazilian team aces. In the field, however, he was not so fortunate, as he saw his team losing by 2-1 in World Cup debut in South Africa
Once the game ended, Jong Tae-Se went Robinho and asked to swap shirts with him. Request accepted. Later, still dressed in the clothes of the game, the North Korean striker went to the locker room of the Brazilian team at Ellis Park stadium and asked to get the number 10 shirt of Kaka. Also worked.
The selection of North Korea back to camp next Monday, against Portugal in Cape Town. Brazil is playing a day before, against Ivory Coast in the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.

  14. This is the only player of NK, he is a warrior…

In English: The player Kaka did not give the shirt
simply not understood because of the sound of
vuvuzela. Let’s not throw stones it is a good player and is
humble. As for China no player
Brazilian Chinese try to understand or speak Portuguese
    Italian or Spanish.

  16. KOREA TIED 2-2 WITH NIGGERIA AND GOT THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND! FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Kaka is not deaf or stupid. Maybe a misunderstanding not to give the jersey. He maybe making a political point like others have made in this post. He doesn’t want to swap his jumper for a jump which represents a pariah state and embarrass himself in front of his team mates, his fans and his country.

  18. Kaka and extremely gentle with everyone, the problem is that this shirt is personalized, it is written ” Brazil x Korea.” Everyone wants a souvenir

  19. I am Brazilian and I tell the Chinese that want a strong football, roaches and some suggestions:
    1) Send young Chinese players to do exchange in Brazilian teams: Times Brazilians who has strong grassroots work: Saints FC Sao Paulo FC, Figueirense FC.Pelo least 1 year of training.
    2) Do similar to Japan that led Brazilian coaches: Zico, Parreira, Autuori, etc..
    3) No use or get technical players in Europe, soccer system in decay, not only has technique and creativity.
    4) Do Championships held every year in every state China, this is essential. In Brazil, each state has organized local capeonato. ~ Without it, there is motivation, motivation and competition held back behind large medium-term results.

  20. UNBELIEVABLE……….

So he didnt wanted to exchange jerseys…. SO WHAT???

What a bunch of supersensitive sissys you all are!!!!!

OOOhh National pride is offended, because Kaka didnt wanted to exchange his jersey!!

    Go fish turtles, gays

    • yeah this TESE guy is too emotional. Crying for North Korea should be a crime! TESE go back to your North Korean school in Japan you crying pussy.

  21. photo makes it look like Kaka is saying “get lost you communist bastard!”

  22. My parents were born in China, but i was born in the US. I have to say that I can hardly be called a Chinese. I can’t even read or write the language, i can only speak it. And still people notice that I’m a foreigner because i don’t have a certain accent. Either way, I am proud to be Chinese, not all Chinese have eyes that are greedy for money. All this racism and stereotyping shit is making me go crazy, but hey, i can’t change the world. -.-

  23. How come the Asians are always trying to give their shirts away to people? Who wants a stinky shirt anyway? That’s not even that cool – to switch jerseys – kind of gay actually. What a shipseki!

  24. This isn’t first time that Brazilian footballers refused to exchange jerseys at end of the match. Many European and South American footballers refused to exchanged their jerseys to Chinese footballers too. Besides, North Korea as country have bad reputation, no western societies will respect North Korea and their people.

  25. The struggle against imperialism – haha. China is a neo-imperialist state – just ask Africa.

  26. i hate kaka for this ,i was very angry for his actions.u dont need someone to tell u the meaning of this wonderful soccer player from north korea.kaka is nothing

  27. i feel sorry to that guy,but its all about football, even if they shared ,that would not give him a win. i think kaka behaved stupidly if he did that intentionally!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Got some really classy people commenting here, geez.

I didn’t watch this match, so I can’t make any observations on their interaction. Suffice it to say then that shirt swapping is, at least to my knowledge, a customary gesture of friendliness and sportsmanlike behaviour in the game of football, and on a high profile occasion such as a World Cup match, I think it would’ve been an especially sweet exchange. I understand that it’s really not that big a deal, and obviously I won’t vilify Kaká for not participating, but I think it would’ve contributed to the appreciation for the spirit of international harmony that events such as the World Cup are meant to embody—at least for Jeong Dae Se, if for nobody else.

i don’t think people who were offended by it are necessarily being “too sensitive” though—I think in most cases, it’s about having a deeper respect for the sport and the culture surrounding it.

  29. what the hell is wrong with you people always saying north korea sends its players to work in mines. it’s because of these unnecessary ignorant comments that add insult to injury. it’s bad enough they didn’t do well, stop with the stupid jokes. it’s not even funny.

  30. And people care why? It’s his jersey.

  31. Why?

If he wants to keep his jersey, rather than give it away, then so what?

  32. Body language from the deep south ain’t always universal jonesy bonesy.

    Watch Deliverance again….

  33. I thought Jong Tae-Se was more-or-less fluent in English? He spoke English during a few interviews with reporters earlier on.

Or was it that Kaka couldn’t understand the English phrase “Sup bro, let’s trade shirts”, misinterpreting it as “Down with the imperialist warmongerers”?

  34. “7. Kaka had some kind of clash with Tae-Se on the field and subsequently didn’t feel like exchanging shirts with him.”

not really. If you’ve seen that match, the North Koreans played with more sportmanship and fairness than the Brazilians.

Practically only Brazil fouled the whole time.

    “1. Kaka is an asshole.”

    Thats more like it.

  35. Or he might have said ‘lets do it inside’ thats what I imagine Kakas thumb pointing in the direction of the dressing rooms is indicating. Even though it is the southern hemisphere and Africa it is still winter and bloody cold!

  36. Mr. Kaka was seriously following the UN sanction, a total economic blockade against North Korean People. The banned things include potatoes, kimchi, kaka’s T-shirts etc.

  37. Let me guess, English? You’re just pissed off because your team couldn’t get a win if you played 11 on 1.

  38. @ GuoBao: The correct term is 足球, not football or soccer! GuoBao is a foreigner masquerading as a Chinese!!!!

  39. Canadian actually.

As for not being in line with the rest of the world, well GOOD! I’d rather not think of jerseys as being something worthy of world news, and see the puppet theatre spin it into more than it is.

  40. I read someone’s comments that even during the 7-0 loss to Portugal North Koreans only fouled 3 times which is uncommonly rare for alosing team.
So someone suggested to give North Koreans the “fair game prize” so that they get something before returning home (and maybe avoid punishment)

  41. Impossible. Kaka walks with Jesus.

    8. Kaka was late for a Bible study.
    9. Kaka thought Jeong’s gestures were how Chinese people bow.
    10. Kaka wanted to later claim he had given his jersey to charity.
    11. Kaka was scared Jeong would start crying if the request was honored.
    12. Kaka doesn’t know what a jersey is.

  42. Brazillians speak Portageese so maybe no Inglis?

  43. THAT IS WHY KOREANS ARE SO GAY!!!!!!!
THEY THINK EXCHANGING SHIRT WITH ANOTHER GUY IS OK….
Jong: “Sup bro, let me smell your shirt and I let you smell my Korean Juicy”
Kaka: “another fucking gay Korean, GTFO”!!

  44. @ Crystal: N. Korea comitted six fouls – and received two yellow cards as well! http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/schedule/portugal-v-north-korea-30.html

Did you even watch the game? If not, don’t comment on it! (seems like you just read the comments on other forums then spout off what misinformed drivel they wrote, thereby making yourself just as misinformed)

  45. Alain against Jones Boyo

Your obviously deeply depressed working nights.

Answer the question we are all waiting for the answer for deeply.

  46. HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE gib monie plz, i report you

    inb4 4chan /int/fag

  47. i don’t think he only speak portugeese. he can speak english well. he play soccer in european club. he can speak quite well

  48. He comes from a rather affluent family, he definitely speaks some English. Something probably got lost in translation, and I doubt Kaka did it on purpose. This was not reported on Brazilian media, and I doubt they wouldn’t jump on the opportunity to criticise an otherwise “good guy” if he gave them a reason to.

  49. Don’t bite the newbies, Jack. It’s ungentlemanly. She was probably confusing it with the game against Brazil or something.

  50. Agreed, this is all fairly stupid.
Our sources are a picture of some text in Korean called “Korean media” with no link or reference (probably the blog of a loony with an agenda that has been obediently picked up in China) and a picture of Kaka looking at starstuck crybaby weirdo Jong with an expression of “uh, yeah, I’ll talk to you later, dude”.
Did Kaka really refuse? Did the other guy even ask? Was it on TV? Was it all a misunderstanding? I didn’t see that match but googling it in English only brings up references to the Chinese internet, referencing this article. Obviously suspicious. It’s not exactly logical to jump to the conclusion that Kaka is a ‘hole based upon a photo and some unsourced words.
North Korea, plucky underdog ally against American imperialism got hammered by grape-ya, a country somewhere in Europe. So let’s change the subject, dig up a picture of Kaka looking a bit uncomfortable and let the inferiority complexes of and shanzhai outdated PR techniques of China’s Internet trolls get people thinking about yet another percieved insult from non-Asians, rather than the battering of a team representing one of the cruellest regimes on the planet.
I thought NK weren’t even allowed to swap shirts for financial/political reasons, anyway? Does the Dear Leader really want shots of his star-man wearing the colours of another country? Or would they make an exception for Jong?
Fun debate, but non-story I’m afraid, people.
And if you’re going to call a footballer an asshole, Kaka is not the man. He’s actually a paragon of virtue compared to the low, low standards of professional footballers. The whole “Gods Player” deal is a bit creepy but the guy did pledge to give 10% of his earnings to his local church back home and now that he is a multimillionaire (in part thanks to 金嗓子喉片) that stuck to his word, he has massively helped the community in which he grew up, which is more than you can say for most international sportsmen, let alone footballers.

  51. Whoever it was that started this should be found and beaten to death by their own camera.

  52. are you serious ?

  53. its not the sanction, the guy came to him with a lot of excitement, moreover after a loss. Asians should check up, you under look blacks, but you do not know there are others who under look you more than you under look the blacks

  54. A soft, gentle breeze, whips up a small torrent of sand across the barren plains. A tuft of brambleweed is caught in the small, raging debris and glides gloomily along across the landscape. A distant churchbell tolls in the background. A crow caws overhead.

Your comment is met with silence.
    No one agrees with you.
    You are alone.
    You fail.

  55. You’re a moron, love your own stupid jokes, or typically have gay on your brain. Choose one or all of the above. Kaka has exchanged jerseys before, and with other athletes like Usain Bolt.
The folding gesture is an added sign of respect in this situation.
Who knows why Jeong went away empty handed, but it may be that a N. Korean football jersey doesn’t come with a lot of street cred in Brazil.

  56. hahahahahahaha damn right!!!

    thats about what i posted

    UNBELIEVABLE……….

So he didnt wanted to exchange jerseys…. SO WHAT???

What a bunch of supersensitive sissys you all are!!!!!

OOOhh National pride is offended, because Kaka didnt wanted to exchange his jersey!!

    Go fish turtles, gays

  57. After a game it’s common for players with the same number on opposite teams to exchange shirts. If you look at after game photos lots of players are shirtless and carrying the jersey of the opposite team.

But thanks for you uninformed comment. And the caps lock really got your point across.
