20,000 overseas ethnic Chinese demonstrate in Paris protesting violent robberies

On the 20th, over 20,000 overseas ethnic Chinese organized a massive “anti-violence, demand public security” demonstration, protesting Paris’s poor public security situation as well as the long-term violence and robbery targeting overseas ethnic Chinese. Cases of Chinese tourists being robbed in Paris have happened time and time again, with even the vice-chairperson Uyunqimg of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee having also been previously robbed during a visit to Paris.

Why do they rob you? Because you are weak. Beat them up. The place I live is bad. At night when exiting the subway station, I’ve run into Middle Eastern robbers so many times. Every time you must fight them, and give them a few extra hits. Now when I go home, that group of people don’t bother me for money anymore. Actually, the robberies abroad in each neighborhood are always by the same few people. The more tough/vicious you are, they will naturally leave you alone and go bother other people. Foreigners and Chinese robbers are not the same, they really just bully the weak and fear the strong while Chinese robbers will rob your money and then stab you a few times anyway…

My schoolmate in France sought out the [Chinese] embassy’s help after experiencing many attacks and then actually being arrested by French police for self-defense but the embassy just took a conciliatory [deal with it, don't make trouble, not important enough] attitude, so [my schoolmate] could only just bitterly accept what happened…

I heard about this news when driving this morning, that they even specifically target Chinese nationals for robbery, those bastards. Also, [France's reaction] is really inexcusable, simply allowing them to rob Chinese, not even trying to stop them, simply letting them go after arresting them. No wonder they are so savage…Chinese need to unite to fight back…

Get lost, don’t ever come back. There you can still demonstrate. If you come back, your house will be destroyed, then they’ll beat you, and you’ll spend N years appealing to higher authorities until you die and have no place to be buried.

  1. I worked for years with a Christian organisation helping Chinese in Paris. I’m glad they are now speaking up with a united voice. Belleville is a very ethinically mixed area with very few Euro-French. The violence is often created by unemployed North African youth and the ‘druggies’. This is not a stereotype but FACT. Chinese and French get along really well. It’s the other immigrants who are jealous because they just want a ‘hand out’ from the gov’t while Chinese work hard for what they have. God bless China and the Chinese. Xie, Xie for the good food you brought to France!

  2. Yup. This kind of things will become regular in the future.

The post-80′ Chinese arent so docile and submissive like their parents anymore.

As seen in the riots and protests at Foxxcon and Honda in China, young Chinese are pretty aggressive nowadays and will fight for what they see as their right.

In this sense; western faggots should rejoice: Their wish to ‘democratize’ the Chinese populance was successful. They are now aware of their power and rights – but somehow they wont aim it against them evul CCP, but instead against their own asses. And this bugs them. These hypocrites.

    HAHAHA

  3. I never trust the Chinese. I commend the French for their present attitudes towards the Chinese. Kick the Chinese out of France.

    • And who exactly are “the Chinese”? That term could refer to literally hundreds, even thousands, of different groups, from the various ethnic groups that live in the PRC, to the many enclaves of Chinese diaspora living around the world. There is no monolithic group you can call “the Chinese”, any more than you can identify any other nationality or ethnicity monolithically. To claim that a group that comprises well over a billion people, perhaps nearing 2 billion if you count huaqiao and other outside the PRC, is absolutely not to be trusted, let alone that every one of them really have any particular characteristic in common.

    • Er…you obviously posted without bothering to find out what this is about. This has nothing to do with the attitudes of the French towards the Chinese. The Chinese demonstrators were protesting about attacks on them by Arabs & Black Africans. For this reason, white French anti Arab/Black racists have been full of praise for the Chinese! And the attitude towards the Chinese demonstration of the French people in general, many of whom claim to have been victims of similar attacks, appears to have been largely positive. The reaction of the French media too has been mostly sympathetic.

  4. Well Chinese have rights in free country, welldone Chinese in Paris! But shouldn’t Chinese should do this at Beijing too? Chinese should ask more from greedy Chinese government too.

  5. Chinese people should definitely be on guard because after the freedom of attacking the wheelchair athlete in Paris, bullies with long simmering resentment of Overseas Chinese were gleeful about the attack and the misdirection by the Western media so I have been worried about bringing Chinese children to Europe because I think some people will hide attacks behind political excuses. This protest may be about petty robbery but I believe violent assaults are on the horizon in Europe against simple ordinary Chinese residents.

  6. What you see guys is something called democracy. It’s when you are allowed to speak your mind, good thing ha!Cheers

  7. fuck all chinese hypocrites, you can protest everywhere in the world ,chinese are always right, who dares to protest in china, how many times have i been burgled right in my house?when nigerians protested in guangzhou about contant harassment by the police and refusal to extend their visas, what was the respond from the chinese goverment/ they have long branded all black skin people as illegals and shouldnt stay in china, blacks in china are often reminded that they are not suppose to live in china, what beats my imagination is that,i cant count the number of chinese going to settle in africa,so they have the rights to protest or settle in african countries while they dont want african here.i cant count how many times i have been cheated by chinese ,my complains always fell on deaf ears, fucking hypocrites, despite this i still fine nice and honest people in this wonderful world, they simply need orientation…

  8. Complaining Complaining Complaing.

    Grow up.

  9. It’s high time to place the boot around the neck of the Chinese and press down hard.

The Yellow Peril must be reigned in before they infect the rest of the world.

  10. 99% of foreigners working in China obey China laws and regulations; 99% of Chinese working abroad don’t respect laws and regulations: they avoid paying taxes and social security, enslave their own countrymen, turn a truly historic city into a fucking bazar..this is just a form of compensation…and by the way, if we want to go back to the time where Chinese live in China only, I am sure that will be much worse..european cities are loosing their charm because of these amoral people browsing around

    • GladToBeBackHome (aka ronnie)

I just flew from PVG to LAX and let me tell you, the Chinese are invading the SGV as much as Paris. USA needs to become more stringent toward Chinese persons visiting the USA. The guy on my right bumped my elbow at least a dozen times without even apologizing. Their bad habits do not end in China.

      • you are right on. We are having this problem in Australia. They are moving in suburbs but are not assimilating. Also they have an attitude of arrogance & indifference.

  11. Funny to read the comments over there!

“French love chinese people”, “it’s black and arab people who threaten the chinese”, etc.

I am french and I live in Belleville, and no it isn’t a problem with other communities, but only a problem with the chinese community. I have lived for more than 40 years in Belleville, and I cannot recognize the place where I grew up and got married, no boulangerie, no patisserie, no bar, nothing except clothes shops… And people there all look at you with strange eyes when you talk to them in french, and I don’t talk about their attitude with women. There have always been parisians of african descent in Belleville, and it was nothing like that, we all lived well. Now all the old shops have closed, all taken by chinese (who only speak chinese) and who have completely changed the image of the neighbourhood. Ask parisian from Belleville who they want to see leaving and you’ll be surprised!! And yeah for those who may ask: I am white.

  12. And why the video doesn’t show the fights between some of these people and the police, because some of them burned some cars or put them on their roof ?

    • ronnie (aka GladToBeBackHome)

The US Government needs to tighten visa rules for Chinese citizens. Many of them are having anchor babies from where i live (LA). On my flight over from PVG, the Chinese guy next to me kept bumping me with his elbows without even realizing his mistakes. Bad habits do not end in China.

      • We need to stop Chinese immigration because one guy was a little rude to you on a plane? That’s a worse justification than the opium den scares in the early 20th century!

  13. Concerning racism. (not claiming to be an expert, or cause contention. Comment submitted purely out of interest for encourage productive conversation)

Racism is prejudice based on race. To be prejudiced is the act of pre-judging someone based on any given reason (race if it’s racism).

The countless statements that go something like this:
“Chinese are the most racist people!”
Are ironically racist statements. As the speaker is prejudging a whole flavor of people based on their experience with a few.

In the west there seems to be a prevalent thinking that we have largely overcome racism/prejudice, and although tolerance of religious or race based groups has greatly improved, I can’t say I’m convinced.

Racism/Prejudice will continue to be a prevalent problem until many issues are globally resolved. The most important of which I think is:

Equality. To regard all mankind as one single race. The human race.

Equality means everyone is equally deserving of the same rights. For example, the right to security.

The victims of racism in France (anywhere, but lets keep this relevant) should absolutely stand up for their rights.

It’s a natural human trait to break things apart and segment/categorize. It’s how our brains deal with information, solve problems and manage tasks. However the categorizing of collective bodies of people is unhelpful in the struggle for establishing equality.

There are many aggressive comments following this article, an article which frankly, enticed it by showing images of angry Chinese people and refraining for explaining what the goals of the demonstration where.

As I have not read anywhere else regarding this event, I cannot speak to the effectiveness and productivity of the protest.

However, it seems apparent to me, that to classify yourself as a group of people, and demand rights (that should be given to all), are specifically given to you is not the most efficient and productive method of realizing your goals.

Without an emphasis on “rights for all”, and a concerted effort to refrain from branding ourselves into categories, which encourages racist and prejudiced reactions, this will continue to be a problem.

[insert hippy love for all statement here]
and kudos if you made it this far… that ended up being a bit long :\

  14. Chinese in general do not want to assimilate. We have this problem in Australia as well. While you have your indifferent, arrogant, superior attitude & mannerisms, you will continued to be hated. I have tried to befriend Chinese, but to no avail. They look down on you if you do not have an education like them. You get what you deserve.

  15. Why don’t the chinks just go home!

Nobody wants them in Europe or North America. Just get your goddamn chinky ass out of our land. Go back to china and stay there.

    CHINKS OUT !!!!!!!

  16. Fucking locusts – fuck off back to Chinamanland..

  17. yet another post filled with racism and xenophobic comments, grow up not all chinese act like uncivilized beings.

  18. I certainly do not agree with everything the PRC tells me…but this is most thought-provoking. I cannot imagine foreign Chinese actually deserving such attacks; why are they targeted so in other countries?

  19. Totally, Laowai protest in China over internet censorship!

I know, if we don’t like it, we can leave, but hey, if the Chinese in France don’t like it, they can leave! Safety and Freedom are both basic rights.
    LETS GO LAOWAIS!!!

  20. Exactly. However, Political correctness is destroying the west and has pussified both Blacks and Whites alike. Racism is natural, so the races should separate and forge their own living areas. The few races that can get along might, but if you can’t make it amongst others, you have to do for self.

  21. I think white people are the most racist people on the planet and yet they use propaganda to show that they are the savior of planet. You guys enslaved many people, rob people out of their lands, and creating genocides among other tribes. You crackers have no right to say Chinese people are the most racist people, fuck you white people.

  22. “In the West if I bad mouth a Black person most people will look at me like I’m a racist asshat (because I would be) but in China if you say Uyghurs are theives most of the Han will agree.”

In the West if you bad mouth a Chinese person people will probably get lots of applauds, especially in places where the jobless rates are high and people think it’s the Chinese who took their jobs. If you look around this forum, certainly Westerners have no problem making racist statements against the Chinese in general.

As for Uyghurs, before the 90s they were known as group to be savvy businessmen. They typically opened halal restaurants making kabobs or butcher shops and some of them are very successful. I used to wonder just how did their reputation became shit in the short time, until my own relatives were robbed by them. If Chinese fobs keep on robbing everyone on NYC subway, would you blame New Yorkers if they stereotype Chinese to be thieves?

  23. true that. Most people in real life (in north america) aren’t so racist. However, when you go on a site like this, you see such a large population of ignorant idiots spilling shit about other countries without evidence, calling others racists and believeing them to be brainwashed.

    filthy hypocrits.

  24. If I were only to read Hans first sentence, I would take it as a joke. “Pacific native Frenchmen”? I thought it was ironic — perhaps it was really just an odd idiomatic thing.

  25. hear! hear! the grand wizard has spoken!

  26. Hmm, races forming their own groups? Along whose lines. If you go a few places, learn about a few different cultures, you will learn that different societies divide people into “races” and ethnic groups in different ways. It’s about perception, not reality, as there is no objective way to divide humans into races (well, you can’t divide modern homo sapiens into races, anyway).

  27. I appreciate your concerns but why now discriminate against all ignorant idiots by implying they are all spilling shit. Some ignorant idiots just sit around like clods of dirt, and never spill any shit at all.

  28. True, the world’s race of idiots have always suffered the worst discrimination.

  29. I did meet two people who had been mugged by Lebonese when I was only in Sydney for 3 months, saying that, there’re a hell of a lot of racist Aussies, I reckon if it is mainly Muslim North Africans mugging people in France, then its probably related to the fact that they’re not given the same job oppertunities as native French, same as the Lebonese in Aus and the Uighers in China. Damn French taking Uigher’s jobs, day tuk aa jrrrbs!

  30. Um, so… if your stats aren’t genuine… and we aren’t supposed to take your stats seriously… we aren’t supposed to take anything else you say seriously, either.

    Okay, got it.

  31. Ask the blacks in America what they think… lol

    Gallup polls:
Only 50% of whites believe racism against Blacks is widespread in the United States, but 78 % of Blacks think so.

It’s all a matter of perspective.

  32. Ask Native Americans, Australia Aborigines, New Zealand Maori and Siberians what they think.

  33. Anti-Black racism is rampant all over the world. This is why Blacks should separate from all other races and shouldn’t even dream of traveling to the orient.

  34. Antarctica.
(Just kidding, I’m not racist, ok)

  35. Gallup polls usually call land lines for polling.Which means they are talking to my 80 year old Grandma because most people use a cell phone now.Everything is generational. Most Americans 40 and under couldn’t care less what color some one is except new comer immigrants.Like Detroit we built a new city in a ring around the old one more than 4 million people live here in Suburbs, you always here of the white flight from the 40-70′s,do you ever hear of the black flight 80′-still going on now.Or the facts 20% Detroiters in old city proper are whites, whites in Detroit have higher unemployment levels and even higher levels of high school drop outs and crime. Why because Boomers still control media and they only report the world as seen when they were young. No ones news coverage of Detroit ever tell about how people have just built a new city around old one or that Blacks have Suburbs in Metro Detroit for Rich/Middle class as well ,do they?Or that Detroit city proper is old and the suburbs are newer with better services, lower taxes,or that they are multicultural. They always report about Detroit Metro like it’s still the late 70′s or early 80′s.The media always shows poor blacks, and rich whites in the old city but never poor whites and rich Blacks that live in old city. They avoid talking about the Metro all together(which is really the City of Detroit) and stats that are old and outdated. They especially avoid mixed neighborhoods of Blacks/Whites like Southfield, when doing there outdated reporting.

  36. What is this “you” shit? I have never enslaved, robbed, or slaughtered anyone, nor have any of the white people I know (except for that one douchebag who did rob a guy, but whatever). You can dig up all the historic dirt you want, but it doesn’t apply to people who didn’t perpetrate the acts you mention. If you look back far enough into the history of any self-identified ethno-racial-national group, you will see the dark stains of violence and brutality. It’s people, man. People do fucked up shit, light-skinned, dark-skinned, whatever. And you aren’t immune from this, either.

  37. thank you for proving my point :-)

  38. “I think white people are the most racist people on the planet and yet they use propaganda to show that they are the savior of planet. You guys enslaved many people, rob people out of their lands, and creating genocides among other tribes. You crackers have no right to say Chinese people are the most racist people, fuck you white people.”

    Beautifully typed.

I must say..If these Chinese are so united in other countries, I wish they would get together and do it in their own.

  39. I almost got beaten up in a night club in Shanghai for absolutely no reason. I mean I was literally just standing there doing nothing, and this dude walks over and starts punching me. I also had a friend get is macbook pro, mobile phone, wallet, everything all stolen in one hit. My ex wife’s mum has been the victim of repeated and multiple break in’s and the police didn’t give a fuck, she’s also been the victim of a mugging, my current gf has been mugged.

At the expo I know a guy who works in the Finland pavilion who told me they stopped stamping people’s expo passports because people were practically rioting over these stamps. They had fist fights, mass hysteria, almost everything imaginable.

  40. “But hey, they are Chinese asking for more protection for Chinese rather than asking for protection for everyone, so it’s not that big of a deal.”

That I can see being a valid argument. It’s still not clear to me from the articles whether Chinese really are being specifically targeted. But then, they are arguing for greater police presence, which presumably would help out everyone (except the criminals :P ).

“However, usually the Irish flags painted on are in celebration, not in protest, of St. Patrick’s Day. It’s not a man standing on top of a van, valiantly waving about the Irish flag as if it’s making a statement. … the theme is that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.”

I admit I was sort of reaching for an example. But it does show a positive display of ethnic identity, even sharing it with others. I just feel the “they don’t assimilate” argument is invoked too much to support xenophobic attitudes. And I think that while partial assimilation is useful and even necessary, total assimilation should never be forced on people.

  41. From Wikipedia:
“Racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.[1] As a practice, it means the same thing as racial discrimination.

Racial discrimination typically points out taxonomic differences between different groups of people, although anyone may be discriminated against on an ethnic or cultural basis, independently of their somatic differences. According to the United Nations conventions, there is no distinction between the term racial discrimination and ethnic discrimination.”

While your original post did not point to “race” as a cause, you did seem to be saying that the fact that they are Muslim was part of why they were committing such crimes — I would take that as something akin to “ethnic discrimination”. You still don’t give much good evidence from your side -> some anecdotal evidence from Parisian friends and a supposed media conspiracy. Perhaps the crimes targeting Chinese are predominantly perpetrated by North African immigrants, but I would not think it is because they are North African — it likely is because of their average socio-economic status (similar to the association in many US cities between black and Latino communities and crime — and equally distorted).

  42. On technicality he’s right. Hawaii wasn’t brought into the United States properly (even by America’s rules). There is one of those fringe crackpot groups that protest it but it isn’t going to be successfully ceded by those long haired hippy pot smoking freaks. And his point on Texas is equally (maybe more) valid since they are the only state that can cede lawfully. I’d look it up for references but it’s majorly humid here in Suzhou and I’m just lazy.

  43. Probems with this:

    1) False Choice: China and Europe are not the only choices, while the comment you replied to is a little over the top paranoid, you asserting that someone who expresses nervousness for his children in a foreign country or region (a natural feeling, even if misguided), doesn’t mean he will necessarily move back to his home country or even move away from where he is currently living.

    2) You, like many commenters I’ve seen on ChinaSMACK, have selected a number of the worst things that occur in China as representing the country as a whole.

Now, I don’t have kids, and I’m not now living in China, but while I would probably prefer to raise children here in the US, I don’t think raising them in China would be such a bad decision. After all have quite a few friends born and raised in China who have grown up to be reasonably successful, well-developed adults. Every country has it’s problems, but there are only a few that I would avoid at all costs.

  44. chinese people are most openly racist people. and i not white or chinese but dark skinned. i encounter it everyday and so ALL my friends. in fact lets not look further. just read some of the posts from your honourable citizens about how they feel about blacks. chinese protesting lol. they got the guts elsewhere dont they.try it in china sometime and lets see wat happens then eh

  45. not every comment is racist. racist people everywhere. yeah go ahead and be a racist back. Everyone does it. I can do this too. Black people are openly racist people! So are white people! Indian people. Muslims! (ever lived as a black Iraqi???)

not saying you can’t let it known people are racist against you. HAHA. I just laugh. FUCK YOU TOO BAD. That’s life. Don’t worry tho, because plenty of people will be racist against me in the future so consider it payback. No need to actually reply.
