Wenzhou Residents Fight Back Against Purse Snatchers

Wenzhou residents fight back against motorcycle purse snatchers.

From txnews.com.cn:

Wenzhou city residents bravely fighting “motorcycle thieves” praised by the country’s netizens

The entire country’s netizens in unanimous approval: Wenzhou previously had a good man who threw his bicycle, and now they have brave and bold masses that the public security department yesterday expressed appreciation for and have recommended for Good Samaritans awards.

Bold gangsters riding a motorcycle snatched a pedestrian’s bag/purse. When surrounded by Wenzhou’s city residents, the diabolical gangster brandished a 50 centimeter long blade, but no one flinched, throwing at them cardboard boxes, stools, and other “weapons” rushing forth. After this incident was reported in our paper, it incited strong reactions in society. One after another, netizens expressed: “This bunch of true men should be awarded a collective Good Samaritan award.”

In the midst of the struggle, there were several who were especially courageous, distinguished by netizens hailing them “Broom Man”, “Stool Man”, and “Cardboard Box Man”. On the morning of May 20, this reporter once again came to Huanglong Trade City Wenzhou Home Appliances market in western Wenzhou City to interview some of the participants.

Good, watching them beat them makes me very happy.

包子不吃:

If only everyone had such a sense of justice then things would be good.

The one who threw the stool played the most important role. Too handsome.赞

小神哈鲁:

赞赞Wow…so spectacular…since the founding of this country there has never been something that has made everyone so happy…neighbors, old aunties, old grandpas all rushing over…with the people/masses being victorious in the end…satisfying everyone…my entire house was clapping and praising while watching this.赞赞赞

hdslove1985:

Not bad, not bad, [they] didn’t lose face for Wenzhou people, and what I hate most in Wenzhou are the thieves. Had the police not rushed to the scene, they would’ve been beaten to death by the crowd.

NOER狙魔人:

That police uncle’s attacks were really cute, and the weapon in his hands!!! Hehe, well done, ding this up!!! Brave people!!! Everyone needs unite together, then we are able to battle such hooligans!!! Then we are able to In order to keep them down!!! 赞赞

lankun22:

Well done Wenzhou people, unlike here in Guangzhou, so indifferent! However, everyone don’t slander Guangzhou people. The truth is that there are too many waidiren here, so people aren’t able to unite together, and it is every man for himself!

我就那么一说:

汗 Driving skill is very important, try again after practicing.

tanhongyun:

Uncommon. Maybe the weather that day was very muggy and there was too much androgen [male hormone] secretion amongst the people, so when they witnessed this scene, they all took out their aggression on those two hapless bastards. Friendly reminder: When it is muggy, it is not worth robbing.

是你逼我的啊:

If when beating someone you feel the police is standing on your side, your heart will have a kind of indescribable confidence.搞笑

Brave and bold Wenzhou people. chinaSMACK personals.

It’s funny watching the purse snatcher trying to fight back. I don’t think he liked his odds.

  • shanghai girl

Ah! This made me laugh so much!

I hate a thief and anyone else who thinks they are entitled to the fruits of others labor. Some of us work very hard for our money and it’s really irritating to have people act like they deserve a piece or all of what others have earned. These guys had it coming…

Good to see people in China standing up to bad guys. Growing weary of the videos of a group of people attacking one person who seemingly did nothing wrong (or at least not illegal).

    • Steven

Now all we need is the people of China to stand up to the real bad guys, aka, CCP.

      • C&N

the proof of the pudding is in the eating. look at china vs. other parts of the world – high unemployment, collapsing economies, pissed off extremists. the government in china is doing a pretty good job.

    • http://www.makeyourownpheromones.com Michael

you must really hate the government

      • Steven

Who doesn’t? Seriously. They are horrible to their citizens, truly horrible. Sure they aren’t the worst, (North Korea bad), but really, all the stories I’ve heard, I think they should all be in prison.

        • Lee

Do you get all your news from western sources? They are seriously skewed and some of the US news sites are nothing more than propaganda. Try getting some Asian news sites and you will get a totally different perspective. At least that will give you some idea of where we are coming from, and where we are going.

  • Shoeshine

Once in Hangzhou I saw three guys beat the shit out of a guy who was trying to steal an electric bike. the “fight” pretty much ended after one person whacked the thief on the back with the bike battery…

Team America: world police is proud of these guys, that’s how you do it!

  • Hei_Bai

Woah no way people fighting back after someone tries to steal shit from them. Incredible.

  • yang tang

    K!LL those mo+herfu(kers!!!!!!!

thieves need to be caught, gang banged, strung up, beaten, sliced, and hacked to pieces like old, ancient times. that’ll put some justice back into our Chinese society.

    gong xi fa cai everyone!!!!!!

    • Lin

There are more worse things than theivery in China. Also you have to take in to conditions the factor of the person who steals. Like would you really kill someone who steals aloaf of bread to feed their family. Can’t categorize all theives and their punishment based on one factor.

However based on the video of these two individuals the fact that they had a hostile weapon warrents for a beating.

  • Piaopiao

Any one else find it a bit odd that the incident was completely caught on camera, perfectly framed and everything?

    • Steven

      What’s odd about it?

    • Chalop

      You’re an idiot PiaoPiao.

Maybe more people should think like this.

  • pervertt

Why does this remind me of the stoning scene from Life of Brian?

  • Regina

Okay, they really didn’t need to beat him like that. It’s not like he killed someone. They should’ve just got the purse from him and held him down until the police arrived.

    People overreacted.

    • Anon

      More mob psychosis

    • Rick in China

There’s not enough room in prisons for pety thieves. The only justice they’ll see is at the hands of a beating, whether it’s from public, the victim, or the police themselves before being let free.

      You’re not in Kansas anymore.

    • Bob

      except he had a knife

  • Chinasmack is awesome.

Ordinary people take justice into their own hands, mmm, I wonder where the police was when this happened.

  • B. Prichard

This is probably my favorite translation I’ve seen on ChinaSmack:

“Good, watching them beat them makes me very happy.”

    Racy!

I also enjoyed the comment from the Guangzhou person. One common thought among Chinese people of all cities is that everything bad is the fault of waidiren.

  • sneakers74

I am surprised nobody has a problem with vigilantes and the idea of people taking the law into their own hands? I guess this is China with an underdeveloped judicial system, but condoning actions like this is not going to help. Whilst the thief is a thief, he has every right to prosecute those who brought undue violence against him – and I hope he does.

    • Steven

Dude it’s still China, the law doesn’t mean a thing. The CCP can choose to follow it or not, it’s just there for show. Let me give you an example of Chinese laws. It states in the Chinese constitution that all citizens have human rights, free speech and free press.

      • http://thebigc.blog.com narsfweasels

        And Free Willy!

    • Thunderkat211

Sneakers74, I hope a group of thieves steal your things and rape you for such a stupid comment. The world has too many problems the way it is….these thieves deserve a good ass whipping. If stupidity was a crime measured like theft, you would be in the video getting hit with furniture.

      • Alex

This is some stupid shit seriously. The two guys without even hurting the girl stole her purse and suddenly 30 guys go apeshit over them. One of them was even forced to pull a machete and they still didn’t let him go. All that shit for some random woman’s purse? Fuck her and her stupid purse, if she was more careful they wouldn’t have stolen her purse.

These guys are petty thieves, if anyone deserves to be beaten the shit out of, its the corrupt politicians and cruel businessmen.

Fuck all of you pussies you need to feel big by ganging up on people.

    • asdfaw

sneakers74 you’re a queer bad guys get punished it’s just Karma

  • http://gene.lu Gene

Best part @0:57. Guy achieves a finishing move by emptying out a crate of watermelons and using it to completely obliterate his enemy.

This just proves to me that Chinese people are still human and still humane inside. When people say Chinese people are just brainwashed… then is this brainwashed behavior?

If Chinese food is garbage, then what is African food? Don’t tell me locusts, fried fire ants, and meal worm on a daily meal is worse than Chinese food. And no, KFC doesn’t count.

  • mike

So your saying the restaurant food sucks, try to make it clear next time when you post. If you want real and clean Chinese food then pick up a cookbook and cook on your own, I am pretty sure if won’t make you sick. I bet your wife is Chinese too huh, its a such disappointment having bitches to marry to foreigner in China when there is skew sex ratio.

  • lolz

If they are Uighurs (they are one of the few minorities in China who can legally carry 10 inch blades), the police will simply let them go. At least they got a good beating.

  • too yellow

I been to many countries, all of their gov fucked me up. China isn’t the worst one, mexico is..

  • Sunwell

Like a T-shirt printed” I dont need sex, the gov fxxks me every day”

  • Piaopiao

You see the two most important events: the purse getting snatched, and the snatchers getting beat down. The purse snatching is perfectly timed: as the lady walks down, you can see the motorcyclist coming up from behind her, and he grabs it just about the time she reaches the bottom third of the frame. I don’t know what is exactly is going on in the middle part of the video, or even why the motorcyclist backtracks to the scene of the crime! (do they explain in the video?) But here again, the mob is under the watchful eye of the well-placed CCTV cam. Even here, while they’re getting beat down, the thieves never quite leave the edge of the frame (the car is in the way on the right, the curb/the thief’s own motorcycle on the left). Yeah, I’m probably a little bit nuts for thinking this is is some sort of publicity stunt. But when the past while, we’ve heard repeated stories of helpless kids getting hacked to death by some psychos, maybe what your average person needs to see is an event where the citizens take control of a situation and successfully fight off “the bad guys”.

Maybe I’m far too skeptical for my own good, and it was just lucky of them to get the whole thing recorded on CCTV. Still, I can’t help but be astonished that they got the whole thing on camera (maybe it’s just because of where I’m from, CCTVs are hardly ever pointed in a useful direction :)

  • SinoCan

And God, let my username be Stool Man, and there’s no need to say what kind of storm I will bring down on these guys.

  • sad

What a fucking pussy. b-real my ass, can’t handle food eh? Why don’t you go back and eat your healthy wholesome organic shit. This is a man’s world, not some proper nancy boy’s

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buns Bakery

It’s on the net because it was caught on camera so well. Nobody posts stories about the other million purse snatchings because they’re not caught on film.
