Henan farmer gives away turnips to city residents, is plundered by mob
The over 80 mu of turnips grown by farmer Han Gang on his vegetable farm on the outskirts of Zhengzhou in Henan province yielded a bountiful harvest, but these roughly 1.5kg each turnips suffered from poor sales. Day after day, he contacted buyers, but the buyers would only offer a bulk purchasing price of only 4-5 fen per half kilogram. If people are hired to pick the turnips, he’d then have to spend even more money. After discussing with his family, he decided to stop trying to sell these turnips and instead give them away to the city’s residents for their consumption. Han Gang said: “If social welfare and charity organizations want them, I can give them priority.”
Han Gang posted his idea online and news media from the provincial capital also published the information on November 25th. On the morning of 2011 November 26th, Han Gang’s turnip field was overrun by city residents there to pick turnips, with groups and groups of people carrying vegetable knives hacking turnips off, tossing aside those they didn’t like and bagging those they did to take home.
For days, over ten thousand city residents came to the field to pick turnips.
What Han Gang and his family did not expect was that some people even picked and took away the sweet potatoes he had planted. Given that he was unable to stop them, he could only ferret out the uncivilized behavior by immediately taking out the sweet potatoes that those people had put into their bags.
Faced with an uncontrollable situation, Han Gang begged people to be merciful: “Auntie, sister, uncle, brother, leave me some, I still need to send my children to school!”
November 26th, Zhengzhou, the cars and tricycles of the turnip pickers lined up for kilometers.

Someone would dare do this in the Heavenly Kingdom?? Well, he must regret it now…
People who don’t know to be thankful, what is wrong with this society?
Truly would’ve been better to let the pigs eat them. At least then you could raise some meat and it would’ve been better than giving them to these animals.
A people without conscience, taking other people’s kind-heartedness for granted.
This is what Chinese people are like. Don’t believe Chinese people are very noble, it is all talk. How different are we now from the fools of the late Qing dynasty?
These people have such poor character. He was giving you turnips, and yet you fucking take away other things while you’re at it, too disgusting.
Human nature truly is a complicated topic. Sometimes greed consumes gratefulness.
Some Chinese people…can you be even more disgusting?!
Don’t be good-hearted in the future. Living in a place like the Heavenly Kingdom, one must not be kind-hearted.

Don’t say I’m being emotional but but seeing this entire field of helplessness and sadness my eye were indeed moist…
Fucking even driving their cars over to take the turnips, what kind of mentality is this?
This happening in China is very normal. Something has gone wrong with people’s values, you can’t blame them.
No wonder Hong Kong people say that wherever mainlanders go it is as if locusts are passing through.
A kind-hearted person person has once again been trampled. What a disgusting country.
That’s because you’ve overestimated human nature.
Everyone has it rough, so everyone being forgiving of each other and everyone helping each other is the way to go.
I don’t get it! 5 mao per half kilogram in the market and no one buys, but when they hear they can go pick turnips for free they all drive their cars there and line up!
What do you think?
Free turnips. Personals @ chinaSMACK.
