The entire test flight was completed accompanied by a J-10S combat training jet, lasting about 18 minutes, and was a success.

After the J-20 successfully completed its test flight and landed, cheers erupted across the entire test flight area, with the crowd of spectators/onlookers outside the airport also setting off a string of firecrackers [in celebration].

Why doesn’t America stir up trouble around its own country and instead insists on coming to faraway Asia to cause trouble? Actually, America is not really a peace-loving country. Right now, it is appealing to China’s surrounding countries to contain China, and it doesn’t actually want Asia’s various countries and people to become rich and strong! It is plain to see that wherever America goes, there will be tension, and whatever country it maintains close relationships with, that country will necessarily become unstable, and it will bring the flames of war, and definitely bring disaster to that country. Now, it wants to come here and exploit the conflicts between the various countries to provoke incidents/stir up trouble, causing the various Asian countries’ people to hate each other. What it most hopes for is for the various countries to fight against each other! While it remains on the side laughing—-Asians are so funny! Then it can happily sell its military products, ultimately achieving its goal of suppressing Asia’s development, while the Asian people once again enter great suffering and extreme misery! For the various people of Asia, uniting together to face the rest of the world, for the benefit of Asia, that is the best course of action!

From KDS:

Has TG [the government] given a certain someone yet another loud and clear slap to the face?

When we saw the first photo, some people said it was fake, that it was PS‘d!
When a lot of photographs came out, some people said the engine wasn’t gei li [good enough], that we still have to use Russian-made [engines].
When video of it rolling on the tarmac came out, some people continued to spout that a test flight was still a long way off!
Now it has made its test flight, and it is already basically confirmed that the engine is domestically manufactured, and not Russian.

I trust, there will still be a lot of people continuing to spout!

Let the bullets fly awhile~~~~~~~ [just wait and see]

This is what the late-Qing Dynasty Northern Navy thought too, that it was number 1 in Asia, number 7 in the world, everything on its ship being from England, yet in the end, it was beaten so badly by the Japanese that it had to cede Jiaodong [peninsula, aka Shandong peninsula] and Taiwan. What a sin. No matter how good the weapons are, you have to look at those using them. Let a incapable person use them and they are useless. The Qing Dynasty land forces at the time even had machine guns that Germany hadn’t yet formally deployed, the Lushun Port once again Asia’s first modern military fortress. The fortress’s mid-level officers were all trained in the West, yet it was still captured by the Japanese in a day.

Look at those military vehicles on the road today, look at those military properties/industries, look at Mao’s revolting third generation, and you know that the Chinese Communist Party military is the new Qing Dynasty. Ask yourself how many ordinary common people still support the Chinese Communists in their hearts. If the Chinese Communists start an unjustified war, it will be the day it dies as a party. Just look at how the Chinese Communists always “protest” this or that and you know that it actually doesn’t have the guts to do anything.

Even if American sold the F35 or F22 to the Chinese Communist Party, what could the Chinese Communist Party do? The moment the Chinese Communist Party starts a war is the day it is destroyed.

We’ll never know how many J20s crashed in the ocean before this one.

Here’s the link to a video of the first one that didn’t crash (must be some magic or something involved there…). It’s in 720p hi-def format.

There’ll be a bunch of other videos linked to this one I’m sure if anyone’s interested.

By the way, I was watching it on the runaway waiting for it to actually achieve flight when I reminded myself that it was ‘still developing’ …

Thank you. Thank you. I’ll be here all article.

    It’s a 5th generation, not 4th.

    And:

“Russian military commentator Ilya Kramnik states that China is still 10 to 15 years behind the United States and Russia in fighter technology and may not be able to manufacture all the advanced composite materials, avionics, and sensors packages needed for such aircraft, and could instead turn to foreign supplier”

It’s 4th generation in the chinese system.

First time commenting here…. SOFA’S MINE!!!!

Anyways, seems like a blatant Shanzhai version of the F-22 Raptor with lower quality parts and design that was reverse engineered after being smuggled out of a superior country .

Also, this stealth attack fighter will only be used for DEFENSIVE purposes as chinese are only interested in a peaceful rise and co-operation with the world due to their ancient traditions of not interfering in others business.

          • Alan no longer in China

I know you’re trying to make a point saying 1950′s mindset on race and women but you have to remember that the communist party equalized gender roles and made men and women equal in the eyes of the law. This happened in the 1950′s. So you’re actually calling China a progressive nation.

  • Nathan

How much does it cost to be educated at high school in China again? How much did this cost? What’s it purpose? How will China and its PEOPLE benefit?

    • Chad

Expertise in this field eventually leads to advances in other areas and may allow them to build a cheaper form of the J20 for export or perhaps even apply principles they learned from developing the J20 to commercial aviation. By making their aerospace industry competitive, they will finally enter an area dominated by the Americans, Canadians and Europeans. This will allow their industry to profit greatly, which of course helps the economy in general and thus the people. Did I explain it well? :)

      • Nathan

Chad… ummm… well done on finishing ‘economics for beginners’… now its time to read for the next piece of high school homework… ‘Novaya Ekonomicheskaya Politika 1921′ – a failure… so in answer, no your explanation reeks of GCSE coursework

        • Chad

Economics for beginners? I thought that was common sense. Guess not. Read “America’s current military industry”. It has made them into the greatest military weapons exporter in the world and is in fact the main pillar of their economy right now. Without it, they would have fallen already. Their industry wouldn’t have developed had it not been for the massive investments by the DoD.

And WTF does the NEP have to do with spending R&D in the military aerospace industry?

You asked me how this helps the average Chinese person and I explained it VERY simply. Now you’re moving onto a red herring. Suprising. Not.

  • Dan Danger

It is nice to have this type of thing to build people’s spirits and give them a sense of nationalism, pride in somethign their coubntry is doing to make the country look powerful in the eys or other nations.

Too bad the same country can’t educate supply a free education to all its children or insure that workers actually get paid for their labor. But, who cares as long as there is a big jet plane to make everyone feel big and proud.

    • http://www.lovelovechina.com Crystal

Even in this aspect China is second to America.
I mean the aspect of heating nationalism in order to distract people’s attention from domestic problems.

      • Elijah

There’s no human rights in china due to an oppressive, incompetent, inhumane party??? BLAME JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!

There’s discontent at the grass-roots level in various ethnic groups because they’re ostracized and looked-down upon??? BLAME THE SPLITTISTS!!!!!

Taiwan is considered a de facto sovereign country and doesn’t want to part of a terrible country??? BLAME THE AMERICA AND JAPAN!!!!!

People want freedom of religion without persecution??? BLAME THE FALUN GONG AND FOREIGN AGENTS!!!!!

Workers want a decent salary and people want to defend their homes from forced demolition??? BLAME THE COUNTER-REVOLUTIONARIES AND DISSIDENTS CAUSING DISHARMONY!!!!!

There’s a massive trade deficit between china and the rest of the world because the ccp keeps the rmb artificially low in order to sustain an economy almost completely based on foreign owned exports??? BLAME…. well um…. hmph…. this is a tough one…

Crystal, you have a cute pic no doubt and usually you make comments that neutrally acceptable, but this one was just… Really? Seriously???

There are incredibly few countries that spew as much jingoistic rhetorical nationalistic propaganda as china. Honestly, anyone who actually reads or listens to the ccp or chinese news is going to end up with a mental problem that is unable to ascertain what’s reality and what’s not.

        You can do better Crystal.

        • http://www.lovelovechina.com Crystal

Seems you saw some of my previous comments.
I think that some of them could bring me troubles if they would be read by “wrong” people.
And I guess that these are the kind of comments that you call “neutrally acceptable” :-)

Well… I suspect that in your opinion Chinese can be roughly divided into two categories:
          1) Brainwashed idiots
          2) Enlightened people who understand in what kind of “terrible country” (using your words) they live

          • ceh

lol crystal…they don’t like it when you put it in those words.

          • Elijah

You forgot a few other categories:

            3) People who emigrate en masse for a better life in a different country

            4) People who seem to be born from older boats (I’m suspecting rust and magic)

            5) People who will cheat you for all you’re worth while smiling at you in a marketplace

            6) Groups of people who live together and seem unable to y’know, integrate with the rest of a community

            7) People with an inferiority complex who believe anything not praising china must inherently be anti-china

            8) People who honestly don’t know enough about something and choose to wait until they can properly decide

Sometimes, there can be combos! But one thing is ALWAYS true (and I mean ALWAYS). All chinese know all the ancient chinese secrets about everything but will only reveal them in times of great need. It’s kind of like Jew gold, but with chinese characteristics.

            Cartman ftw!

          • John

Go Crystal! :) That would make the Chinese even more polarized than Americans, which is a virtual impossibility.

          • ceh

            you’re worth 500 kual? that’s awesome.

      • Thomas

Crystal, I like your Lovelove website and thanks for the comment… but I’m curious if you’ve ever lived outside of China?

You’re comparing the mostly state controlled Chinese media with the free press in a developed, Western nation. True, American politicians can whip up nationalism to get support for stupid policies–but it is nothing compared to the manipulation of the public China pulls off.

        • isenkrammer

the way i see it, in China the state controls the media. In the US of A the guys who control the mainstream media are closely affiliated with the government via political donations. Sure the media in the US have more freedom, but they are still biased. and like the CCAV, the mainstream media in the US also aim to spread certain political ideologies.

        • Chad

You must be kidding me. China’s state controlled media is very obvious propaganda and everyone knows it’s propaganda- even the Chinese. On the other hand, people like Americans (for example) assume that a free press results in a media that won’t spur nationalism or work for the government’s interests. This is even more dangerous because it’s easier to believe. Hey, that sounds like you. By the way, what happened to those WMDs from Iraq that everyone believed they had because of the free press? *chuckle*

Seriously though, the benefit of free press is that the little guys can exert an opinion different from the mainstream press but the truth is that very few actually read the opinions of the smaller media outlets.

        • Joe

I don’t think China has the power to brainwash an entire nation into accepting the invasion of a foreign country yet, so America is still #1. Where’s the WMDs man?

          • Thomas

I must have forgotten that time everyone in America thought it was a great idea to invade Iraq.

        • ceh

sure, china has plenty of idiots, but taking vocal retards’ internet opinions as representative of the entire country ain’t too bright either. I don’t assume Americans are just a bunch of crazy fuckups just because a good chunk of them think Sarah Palin is the best person to lead the country.

Most well-educated Chinese don’t drink the kool-aid and just play along because it’s convenient. The phrase don’t be too CCTV comes to mind.

    • wallimo

wow to me there seems to be a lot of parallels between China and a certain other country, can’t educate there population for free don’t have health care(and can’t get medical insurance) and have a huge underclass, yet they build stealth bombers, stealth fighters, stealth spaceships, stealth submarines, stealth ships etc etc.

I might add education is much cheaper in China then in this other country (especially higher education!)

ones communist ones capitalist whats the difference?? not that much!

      • http://www.ethansenglishcafe.com Ethan

Yeah, that’s what makes hte continual fighting between the two side’s nationalist trolls funny.

“I hate the USA, they invade other countries, China needs a bigger army so we can too!”
“I hate China their government doesn’t take care of their people, now I’ll go back to low ranked social programs and terrible health care/education system.”

I think I need to move to Northern Europe…

Canadians are just as nationalistic as the Chinese. With these two words only, you can turn any kind-hearted, peace-loving, polite Canadian to a jingoist monster: “Parti Quebecois”.

          • xmcx

@Epitope: luckily, the Parti Quebecois hasn’t had an iron-fisted rule over Canada since 1949, and the population of Quebec is small. Like Switzerland, who cares if they are backwards tits, so long as they don’t wander too far away from their cave dwellings and sprawl over into the rest of the world

          • justmega

China, the U.S., Canada, it’s all the same BS pot calling the kettle black. They’re all shiite. All nations/governments are converging toward one point. All these nation’s citizens have the heads up their behinds.

      • Thomas

You are comparing China and the USA, trying to insult America. There is plenty to insult about my country, but your comment is an epic fail:

Education- School in the USA is free up until High School, and is provided to even to non-US citizens. Chinese migrants who are Chinese citizens often can’t go to school. Yes, higher education in China costs less, but the American has several of the worlds top colleges… while my friends teach at the universities in China.

Healthcare- True, the American healthcare system is a mess, but you will be treated if you show up at a hospital with an emergency in America. My second day in China, I saw a man with his leg torn open and a large bone sticking out, clearly he was dying, just outside the hospital door. That doesn’t happen in America.

“Huge underclass” – The wealth is more focused on the special few in China than it is in America. The poor in America are given free food, often subsidized housing. Their are countless programs to support the poor in America.

        • lol

you realize china is still a developing country, right? And that just a generation ago, it had a starving population?

          • Elijah

You realize that the whole ‘developing country’ sctick is a load of crap pinched off by the ccp to maintain certain practices that give them an unfair advantage right?

And that just a generation ago china had an psychopathic mass-murdering fool of a leader that destroyed everything there was to china from it’s history to it’s population, helping to create the ccp of today which refuses responsibility for all of that right?

          • lol

            @Elijah
I was responding to him directly comparing china and the US in terms of education, health, and income disparity.

What you just said has zero meaning in this conversation.

          • Thomas

You realize I was responding to a comparison of the United States and China, right? I was pointing out the major differences. China is developing extremely quickly and quite well actually…

        • wallimo

lol your blind, the huge underclass are the mexican maids that work illegally in your gardens and kitchens. Who don’t get health care minimum wage or or any basic rights. huge underclass accurately describes it. Add to that African Americans, Asians, and other Hispanics oh and that big group of White America.

Education higher educations as in not high school but university costs hundred of thousands of dollars in the US. Not free, higher education in China costs 8,000 RMB per term/year (or something like that).

Sure if your in a car accident in the states they’ll bandage you up and send you a bill later. There’s no free health care, if you had cancer or heart disease and no insurance they wouldn’t treat you! If you had insurance and your insurance company considered your illness an ongoing illness (illness they consider you had before your insurance started) no insurance, plus huge gaps between what health care costs and what the insurance companies cover.

I’m not trying to insult America these are the facts you are the only one who seems to be blind about the similarities.

I am not an American nor am I Chinese! I am Australian we have nearly free healthcare free education government subsidized university (they subsidize 70% of the total cost than give you a 30% low interest loan to pay the rest.) I’ve been to both America and China though I’ve seen it and I am able to act impartially. I dont hate America or Americans btw and I don’t hate China or Chinese.

I’m saying China and America both of huge social inequities and they are both spending huge amounts of money on there military, neither have good healthcare or decent education and both have an elite rich and a huge underclass.

I am not trashing America but it seems the people who come here to trash China often come from America. The chinese who go there forums and trash America!! Look there is another similarity between American and China.

China and America are much more alike then the flaming trolling retards on Chinasmack and the Chinese BBS would like to admit too!!!

the communist one is no longer communist. it’s now running state-capitalism and is more like the West than you would imagine, minus the political freedom.

        • wallimo

I should of said one is fake communist (trying to be capitalist) one is capitalist. Thought about that later!

I assume u’re talking about tertiary education or high school education. In fact, elementary school and junior high indeed IS FREE in china now. My mum is working for an elementary school in Midwest region in China, her school doesn’t charge tuition fee. Yeah, that may varies for some very poor region, but generally it is free.

Too bad my American classmates didn’t get free education at all at higher education level, in a nation where average income 10 times chinese.
You may want to point out that low quality chinese education not worth a nickle, but in fact, the tuition I paid for my undergrad was almost free ($600 per annum) by every means compare to my US counterpart. While you may enroll in a top chinese university(may i quote the ranking by ARWU, ranked 200+-400+ worldwide or so), their tuition($700-$800 per annum in today’s dollar) is still significantly lower than similarly-ranked noname american state university, I mean even in-state tuition, even deducted by average scholarship and grants, and even after FAFSA, oh sorry, people need to pay back FAFSA, I forget)
Regarding labors not being paid, do I need to remind you how many free internships american students are doing now? Yes, it is very legitimate to link that to at-will employment, students need to gain some real world exp., but let’s face it, it isn’t that different from a chinese immigrant worker not being paid.

    • Bob

Primary education is free in China, unless you think $100 rmb a year is a lot of money, in which case Chinese people get paid a lot for their work too.

Ah, so much is the case that anywhere on earth, military hardware discussion groups are mostly full of jingoists, nationalists and general dickheads.

Seems like a cool plane, would be fun to fly, but as with all military hardware, I hope it is never used.

Does anyone know why there is such a contrast between the QQ and KDS comments?

All the QQ comments all seem to be proud of the plane while the KDS ones seem more critical.

[Note from Fauna: I wonder who will have the correct answer.]

    • Elijah

Could be because QQ is one the most ‘harmonized’ web services in china. I use QQ to chat with my friends back in china (I’m in Hong Kong at the moment) or whenever. And I’ve had my title/status forcefully changed back to a previous one or left blank anytime it mentions anything overtly political or even some sexual remarks. Keep in mind that this is all done in English, so added difficulty for the censors.

Also Fauna, please explain how building this is correct for china as a country/population and not just a shiny new toy to for the ccp to brag about and get the war-hawks in china all riled with that wonderful sweet stuff that is nationalism.

This is not correct, it’s all about face. If you can’t support your population then you shouldn’t waste money on extra crap that’s not really needed, especially when it’s just a shanzai brand.

Look at Canada, it has a much higher GDP (per capita) than china and it doesn’t need to build or have 5th generation planes. Why? Because the costs would take away from the amazing infrastructure and social programs already found in Canada. And also because Canada doesn’t need to hinge it’s self-esteem as a country on what military toys it has.

“Correct?” Try “How much wasted and for what?” instead.

BTW Fauna, this isn’t a tirade against you personally, but rather the question implied by your comment. I enjoy your site most of the time.

      • outcast

“Also Fauna, please explain how building this is correct for china as a country/population and not just a shiny new toy to for the ccp to brag about and get the war-hawks in china all riled with that wonderful sweet stuff that is nationalism. ”

In the event of a real war against the US the PLA. PLAN, and PLAAF would easily get their asses handed to them. Despite their bluster and size, the fact remains that their equipment is hopelessly obsolete and their operational doctrine is even more rigid and top down than the Soviets, in other words completely unsuited in every sense for a modern conflict. Even if it had an equal tech level, it would still lose because so much else about it is corrupt, backwards, and incompetent. The KDS commentator talking about Beiyang army/navy being very technologically but still getting crushed so easily by Japan in the first sino-japanese war in 1894-1895 was referring to that.

      • High horse

        Gees Elijah!

“This is not correct, it’s all about face. If you can’t support your population then you shouldn’t waste money on extra crap that’s not really needed, especially when it’s just a shanzai brand.”
Its not a hive mind, they don’t all think alike. Yes they don’t really need it but who does? What justifies it then? It’s not about face, sure that might be part of it but you are oversimplifying.

“Look at Canada, it has a much higher GDP (per capita) than china and it doesn’t need to build or have 5th generation planes. Why? Because the costs would take away from the…bla bla bla…ect.”

Yes yes we all know Canada is great and has a wonderful system.

“BTW Fauna, this isn’t a tirade against you personally, but rather the question implied by your comment. I enjoy your site most of the time.”

        Really Elijah? really!?

You got alllllllllllllllllllllll that from a comment?

because it read like a tirade.

        • Elijah

Where did I mention or even imply a ‘hivemind’ in any of my comments? Seems like you’re inferring quite a bit more than what is written… Tells me more about your perceptions than mine.

Secondly, if it’s not about face, then what IS it about? It’s going to take years to actually make an airforce out this (which is so obviously copied from other countries) and by the time the airforce is upgraded to this, the rest of the world with cutting edge tech will have already delevopped the next level of tech. So it’s not about being on par with other countries. Maybe it’s because they’ve received threats from another hostile country like… um…. uh… JAPAN!!!!!! Yeah they’re always good for a decoy. Or like I said above, maybe it’s for defense… because God knows that an attack fighter/bomber is the perfect tool for air-defense instead of something like an AA battery……….. It’s about face, accept it and move on.

Canada IS great and DOES have a wonderful system. Thank you for graciously acknowledging that. That’s why it’s such a great standby when comparing good and bad governance. You jelly?

The last part of you comment I truly couldn’t understand. I thought I’d made myself pretty clear when I referenced an implication about who would be correct on this issue: Those who supported this retardation or those who criticized it. Therefore I responded to it with my point of view on the subject. What you perceive as a tirade is actually a structured argument in support of my opinion.

A tirade would look more similar to the following:

You tamade foreigners!!!`1!!!1!! Always thinking you can shit wherever you want!!!11!one!!! Really hoping your mothers will know what it is to want to dies slowly from own retard!!!!!eleven111!!!!!!

          OR:

Stoopid chinks, monkey see, monkey do huh? Your just lucky ‘merica don’t com over and bomb the sheet outa y’all. Only thing youse good at is stealing. Took ow jerbs n planes!!!!!!!

For the love of God, please read what I write, and reply to WHAT I’VE ACTUALLY WRITTEN…… I’d also ask for intelligence, but this is the internet…. *sigh*

          • lol

What country didn’t copy military hardware in the past? Hell, europe copied the formula for gunpowder from China. There’s no faster way for a country to develop technologically than copying others.

Also, I’m a Canadian, and I’m not proud of it. Honestly, most Canadians piss me off with their simplistic view of life and zero ambition and I wish I were American a lot of the time.

          • isenkrammer

I hope you’re aware that many cutting-edge technologies are originally developed for military products and lateron implemented on civilian products. A jet isn’t built in just one workshop. A jet contains many parts that needs to be developed/manufactured by other industries which also manufacture civilian products. The new jet project is just an opportunity for the government to put funds in the private sector to push for research and equipment upgrade and also to stimulate the economy. So it’s not just about this jet. It’s more about upgrading the capability of the entire manufacturing industry and improving its competitiveness. Keep in mind that welfare systems rely on the industry to provide for people. Your “if it’s too hard to catch up then you might as well do nothing” type of attitude seem rather common among today’s young people in the Western world as I observe, but you need to understand, the reason why your countries are better than countries like say China and India is because your parents, grand parents, great grand parents and great great grand parents (and so on) worked very hard, and some of them endured living and working conditions much like the kind that the Chinese/Indian people are enduring now. “Rome isn’t built in one day” as they say, and a civilization grows as people enjoy the shades under the trees planted by their grandparents. You may decide to enjoy life and slack off a bit and it might seem that there’s no immediate effect, but what you leave to your children might not be as good as what your parents left to you. Sadly many of you can’t seem to be bothered to care about your children’s future. in fact many of you can’t even be bothered to give birth to children at all. Now I don’t know about Canada but in dear old Sweden they’re having a low birthrate problem and an aging population. The Swedish government accepted many immigrants and temporary workers from the middle-east. and now the number of “foreigners” in Sweden is so large it’s causing massive social problems and the Swedes are feeling intimidated. In fact the same problem is occuring throughout Europe. and yet little is being done to get rid of the “foreigners” partly because the governments want to remain politically correct partly because there really isn’t any other solution. somebody has to do work that nobody else wants to do. Somebody has to work to keep the welfare systems going.

        • SG

….or is it because KDS is from Shanghai and they are not representative of the rest of China…..

      • john digmeme

“Look at Canada, it has a much higher GDP (per capita) than china and it doesn’t need to build or have 5th generation planes. Why?”

Erm, actually you do have 5th gen fighters. I think you are forgetting you are more of an ‘autonomous region’ or the ’51st state’ than your own sovereign country… Secondly, your GDP is that high because you extract resources and send them somewhere else to be refined. Has little to do with technical savvy and more to do with the geographic lottery. Raping the earth so that homeless Vancouverites get free heroin sure sounds like utopia, why aren’t more countries as sensible as Canada?! Please, sit down. Hearing Canadians bragging about Canada is downright unCanadian!

Where does Canada get its self esteem from?

        • Elijah

I’m sorry I can’t hear you over my universal healthcare, worldclass public education, low corruption rate, multi-party democracy and regulated banking systems that DIDN’T crash and burn… Still so keen on the whole 51st state joke? When you travel do you wear your own flag proudly? Jealousy’s a bitch eh?

As for natural resources…. um yeah, it’s such a horrible thing that a country would take advantage of that… how could they?? Oh and then there’s that whole slavery thing… that helped SOME countries.

Hearing a Canadian actually point out that Canada is a good country in unCanadian? Coming from an expert or even a citizen of Canada I’m sure… And yet hearing chinese and Americans thump their chests every chance (even when it’s not called for) they get is basically expected, says a lot doesn’t it?

          • lol

Universal healthcare-yeah, paid for by the upper class so the lower class can be leeches

World class public education-my ass, most of my asian and eastern european friends laughed when they got here and saw the education system. Some university students asked me how to calculate the slope of a curve…

And yeah, Canada has no real secondary or tertiary industry…that’s why all my friends and I are going to work in the US after getting our degrees.

Honestly, I doubt you’re actually Canadian. You’re making us look bad by arguing using a totally imbalanced view of Canada.

          • john digmeme

I don’t really understand a thing you just said. Did you agree? Did you disagree? I’m just not sure… That must be that world class education you speak of, your concepts are just ‘over my head’, right?

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with exploiting your ‘god-given’ resources, but there is something wrong with using said resources to buy heroine for homeless people while propping up a massive, inefficient government, and then bragging about it LOL!!! And I’m jealous? You’re the one complaining about why you shouldn’t be able to thump your chest alongside the yanks and chinese!

I don’t rock any flag when I travel, and if I did, it wouldn’t be the Canadian flag, I may as well sew the state flag of North Dakota onto my pack for what that’s worth…

          • bobiscool

I am A canadian citizen, and I have agree with the rest in that Canada is not full of ignorant bigots like Elijah.

World-class education? Is that why most students can’t even do simple algebra in grade 12? That so many fail to graduate? Canada doesn’t need advnaced military (even though it does have it) because it has protection from the US. The US would not want an unfriendly nation so close to its borders.

      • Alikese

Canada doesn’t worry about 5th generation fighters or Surface to Air Missiles because the U.S. has their back. It’s not that everyone in Canada is so progressive that they choose to buy food instead of bullets, it’s because Canada knows that if Russia got a little to aggressive up North that America would have jets and soldiers fighting right along side of Canada that day, and that the US would provide all of the technology and power to do the fighting.

Laugh it up about America’s (admittedly exaggerated) defense budget, but if shit ever hit the fan in your country America would be right there and I bet you’d be plenty grateful about that.

        • Elijah

Never doubted that for a minute and it’s one of the main reasons I defend America from people who are terribly misinformed or incredibly biased against it… Like many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many MANY people in china… (Phew! Almost didn’t work that in there.)

If there were ever a pair of sibling countries, then the U.S. and Canada would be them. That’s not a joke or sarcasm at all.

Just tired of Canada always being trivialized or treated as just another part of the U.S. (like most Canadians).

          • k2000k

      • Fauna

Why do I have to explain how building this is correct for China? I never said it is correct or incorrect. Phil asked why QQ comments are proud of the plane while the KDS comments are more critical. I said I wonder who will know the correct answer to Phil’s question about why there is a difference between the comments. I do not know how you can think I said or implied building this plane is correct for China or which netizen comments are correct. Phil also did not say anything about if building the plane is correct or incorrect or whose comments are correct or incorrect. My English is not that bad.

I think the reason why some people in China want to build this plane or invest in the military is the same reason as America, UK, Russia. I am not sure why some people think this is a strange idea for a country.

        • Elijah

I see, well then I inferred the wrong semantics from your question.

I didn’t realize you asking what the correct answer is for Phil’s question as I’m not sure there can be an objectively ‘correct’ answer to why a certain website has type a answers and another has type b answers. I would assume that any possible answer to that question would merely be opinion. Which it would be almost by definition to be correct or incorrect (opinions aren’t verifiable facts).

Instead the reason I took your mention of being correct out of the context you intended was because Phil’s comment was about other commentators either praising or critizing this project. Also, your question was a bit vague as it mention the correct answer to what. Who would imagine that the answer you’re looking for is to a question as banal as why QQ and KDS are different.

Could have been the correct answer to life (42 by the way). Could have been the sexiest, manliest, most awesome man EVAR!!! (Me…… Come on, who’d you think I was going to say?)

Anyways, no offense intended, none expected. Miscommunication.

          • Elijah

            failed to mention**

My grammar is slightly off today, 5 hours of sleep cause I’m up all night talking to suppliers in different time zones try to iron out wrinkles in one shipment and start another shipment to a different client from a new supplier… Lots of fun arguing with some Pakistani who refuses responsibility for shipping costs at 2am. Keep wanting to laugh cause he reminds me of Apu (Piss off I know he’s from India)

          • Fauna

Why is it a banal question? There are correct and incorrect reasons why comments can be different on QQ and KDS like why comments can be different on different English websites. China is a big country and there are many people. It is not banal to ask why the opinions can be so different. It is a very good question and an important question to understand that not all Chinese people are the same and not all internet discussion forums in China have the same netizens, communities, or policies.

I expected Phil’s question. It is not a surprising question. In fact, I think it is one of the most important questions and discussing the answers or reasons will be more interesting and useful than arguing about what country is good or bad.

          • Elijah

I would think it’s obvious that different websites with different users would have different comments. As for Phil’s question, I suspect he was just curious and it was an off-hand question. If was seriously asking, it could be a question about whether you chose positive and negative comments from the websites in order to provide a contrast.

In any case, I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree about the banality or importance of the question asked.

Again, much respect for your work here.

          • Peter in China

Ugh this is a perfect example of the reason why many Chinese hate Anglos. Thanks Fauna for being so kind and understanding with this one.

That’s because Canada is not surrounded by hostile nations and under United States protection, get it?

    • Pedro

      Ooo ooo!
      I know this one.

It’s because KDS has a mainly Shanghai userbase. Shanghai has the most independant/least patriotic (depending on your viewpoint :P) population in the country.

I remember being absolutely shocked talking to Shanghai people that were vehemently against the olympics.

      • http://www.mahrs.org/ Fuyutski

Shanghainese may be the ‘most independant/least patriotic’ when it comes to China itself, but Shanghainese have huge pride of the city and themselves.

      • Phil

Ah, that helps put some things into perspective (before it got side tracked into commenting about Canada).

Still strange to see such contrasting comments, could be like what California is to the US what Shanghai is like to China when compared to more ‘conservative’ states.

I’m still curious what the ‘correct’ answer is.

        • Fauna

Actually, there is no one correct answer. There are just often many incorrect answers.

      • isenkrammer

There’s a joke that says if the entire population of China are as selfish and assholelike as the Shanghaiese the government would soon become a democratic one [under the pressure from the people].

The J-20 is a lovely looking fighter, though it’s still a prototype. This will truly give the Chinese people something to be proud of as in “Look at what my countrymen can do!”. In the same way when declassified and presented to the world the F-117 and the B-2 made the U.S. people feel.

I know it gave me the feeling of having bigger balls
(in fact they might have grown a little bigger), and had me chanting USA! USA! USA!

The J-20 is a big bird with design inspired (stolen) from the F-22,F-35,Mig-35 and Mikoyan Projects. ok ok… I cant attest to anything as stolen with the expectation of the F-22 and its variants. I remember something about a big breech within gov. com. systems back in ’05 and it turned out that for months unknown entities were stealing terabytes of information, some classified some not. Among some of the stolen info? That’s right F-22 design and blueprints/schematics. Servers came from China. The front and body design is based on the F-22, the tail end and its engine is based off of Modern MiG fighters. China seems to be taking a bit from The States and Russia with the J-20. The J-20 isn’t fully in-house, I believe some Russian help was involved at some stage of development.

I will say excellent job Chinese engineers you made the J-20 your own. Make your people proud!

    • pervertt

There are presently so few stealth fighters that they are bound to have superficial similarities. J-20 looks similar to F-22 mainly around the nose section, especially the high chine. Overhead view is nothing like F-22, more like SAAB Viggen / Eurofighter / Rafale or other delta/canard designs. The arse end of the J-20 with conventional turkey feathers looks positively last century.

      • Gut

Haha turkey feathers. Imagining the thrust of a J-20 gobbling.

The J-20 is a lovely looking aircraft, that said looks aren’t going to save it in an actual fight.

      • Pedro

Those tail feathers are apparently very non-stealthy, too. I imagine they will change as the design nears production.

  • http://www.matthewsawtell.com Matthew A. Sawtell

Nice to see that P.R. China is claiming “second to the sofa”, given the announcement last year from India:

    http://www.thehindu.com/news/international/article97228.ece

As for the J-20 – the boys at the Reg had a very spot on review:

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/01/12/j_20_flies_analysis/

For all the talk – both birds do not have vectored thrust and are the size of fighter/bombers. Furthermore, it appears the CCP is further behind the 8-ball with lack of engine production, something that the Russians/Europeans/Americans are wisely keeping under lock and key.

    • lol

PR China isn’t claiming “second to the sofa”. Some misinformed netizens are. Check your facts before you post.

Ah… did that bit of forum humor make you angry? Too bad.

Bottom line – for all the horn tooting, the CCP is still held by the short and curlies by the powers to be in Moscow when it comes to the the critical issue of jet engines. Until that milestone is achieved – all the airframes are nothing more than targets at the factory airfield.

I am very moved. Although I am not Chinese, I am happy to see the netizens are proud of their country, much like American patriots are proud of ours. You know, we’re not much different.

I hope there will be peace between our two countries.

A Chinese friend once told me,“Every man must love his own country。”

    我同意。

Nice, resorting to calling me a troll because you can’t think of a logical response. I think I’m done here.

No, I’m calling a troll a troll because that’s what you do on this site.

Then there’s whole thing about making completely unrealistic judgments about Canada’s healthcare, education etc. to try and start a little flame war. It’s literally a waste of my time and energy to actually refute your claims when anyone can see they’re just silly. Anyone wants to know where Canada stands in the word can google it in less than a second.

          @ john digmeme:

Do you honestly need me to dissect my reply to you and explain each part? No one can be that stupid and still be able to use a computer without help.

By the way, I love the double reference to the heroin thing. You’re absolutely 100% right… Yeah… Totally, the government and population in Vancouver are walking around with heroin to give to the nearest junkie. Like Admiral Adama says “Oh yeah. I did bathe and wash them. Made their meals. I love the {junkies}.”

The program you’re talking about is an NGO (some government funding??) that provides a safe, clean place as well as clean tools with which to use in and qualified nurses just in case something happens. Let’s face it, these people will do drugs anywhere with any dirty needle passing around whatever they have. They pass out wherever, choke on their tongue or vomit or get mugged etc. So give them a safe place to go, clean needles, help if they and easy access to counselling. Also, it’s one small office for the whole country in one of the worst parts (which is still better than most other cities in the world…) of Canada. But again, you’re absolutely right in your assessment of the situation. ‘Fair and Balanced’ right?

Is there any government in the world that could be considered efficient? Nope, just degrees of efficiency. As for massive, I really have no idea where you get that idea, especially considering the massive amounts of social services provided.

The part of your comment from “LOL!!!!” to “yanks and chinese” doesn’t really make sense given the context of this exchange. You give a single false example then use that as proof that you’re not jealous while totally ignoring the other examples I gave. Then you paraphrase what I was saying about how Canadians are supposed not allowed to brag but Americans and chinese are. How does this support your position? It just parrots mine.

Also, I honestly think it’s nice that you’d wear your own flag while travelling abroad. You know, as opposed to all the other Americans who don’t. Just saying…

          • john digmeme

Let’s dissect your first statement, the one that made me disregard my paid work to reply on an internet forum:

“Look at Canada, it has a much higher GDP (per capita) than china and it doesn’t need to build or have 5th generation planes. Why?”

Because it relies on the United States to protect its sovereignty (which is what a protectorate, not a sovereign nation, would do; hence, the 51st state “joke(?)”).

Because the costs would take away from the amazing infrastructure and social programs already found in Canada.

Partly true: you have $1.34 trillion in resource money to spend, and since the US has your back militarily, may as well bloat and distort the social system in favour of the junkies.

“And also because Canada doesn’t need to hinge it’s self-esteem as a country on what military toys it has.”

Instead, it utilizes the ‘holier-than-thou’ approach with regard to its southern neighbor to achieve self esteem (even though people of both countries are ultimately identical, don’t tell that to a Canadian!).

Listen, I like your posts, I agree with almost everything you say. It’s touting your system and economic model that I find ludicrous. Also, I’m not fully understanding your position on loud-mouthed, insensitive Americans pissing people off the globe under the Canadian banner – are you actually proud of it? I’m from NZ and let me repeat that I do NOT travel under any flag, only a noob would feel protected by a Canadian flag glued to their backpack since Canadians are just as regularly targeted overseas as Americans. A Canadian was just killed in Honduras last month while I was there, and look, here I still am!

          • k2000k

“Because it relies on the United States to protect its sovereignty (which is what a protectorate, not a sovereign nation, would do; hence, the 51st state “joke(?)”).”

Then the same can be said for Japan, Korea, Western Europe, Mexico. The fact is much of the world relies on the US in some way shape or form. For instance, even China somewhat relies, indirectly, on the US Navy to ensure the safety of the worlds oceans. Not saying China is a protectorate or cannot defend itself, it can, but the fact is that there isn’t a Navy in the world that matches the strength and size of Americas. Canada isn’t alone on relying on American military strength. I also feel compelled to say that Canada is one of the largest contributers of military might to UN peace keeping missions. I do get tired of Canada touting its social model though, given that Europes is collapsing in spectacular fashion, I don’t see why they should be so proud.

          • Chad

I’m from Canada and what John Digimeme said is actually spot on.

What’s more of a feat; The J-20 that few on 11.01.2011 was equipped with Chinese indigenous WS-1X engines, and not with the imported Russian AL-31F.

China has currently at least two prototypes, one with Chinese and the other one with Russian engines. And they have decided to fly it with Chinese engines, which indicates that this critical key-technology of engine production was finally mastered by the industry!

A giant feat. But I expect at least 3-5 years before the J-20 completes it’s numerous tests and become operational.

  • charlie

Right on, China! You will one day join the outside world and need these jets to keep terrorists out of your business. Why waste manpower, use a bigger gun.

  • john digmeme

Seriously though, when do you think the first defection with one of these bad boys will occur? Probably another reason they’re doing testing in Chengdu and not Qingdao.

    • Hongjian

Chengdu is the premier Chinese aircraft manufacturer.

They made the J-10 and the JF-17 – both Chinese indigenously designed fighters.

Of course the J.20, as a Chengdu-product, will be testerd in Chengdu.

Another toy. How about an independent court system? How about houses people could actually afford to live in? How about an education that focuses on something beyond taking tests and builds some moral character?

Defense is not unimportant, but instead of being the third or fourth country to come up with a new fighter plane how about the thirtieth or fourtieth country to have a decent government?

    Unimpressed.

    • Hongjian

When america decides to bomb China back into stoneage, independent court system wont help her.

Seriously, you bleeding heart liberals and hippies should just roll over and die!

Without China building up their defenses and deter her enemies, you crying bitches would all be raped by either the Japanese, the Russians or the Americans.

And no, being weak and defenseless wont make America go merciful on you. They would just invade faster and wouldnt even talk to China about raising the Yuan – they would just force China at gunpoint.

      • Elijah

I’m not understanding your immediate assumption that America would bomb china back to the stone age (reasons?). Although I think it’s hilarious that you automatically assume that would be the outcome, not much faith in the J20 eh? Me neither.

BTW, I would f*cking love to see a good video of that happening.

“Huh… all that money spent the military didn’t really do much, did it Xiao Chen?”

“No, not really Da Ge. Man I wish there was better infrastructure and ACTUAL social harmony. At least then our lives would have been better before the zf decided to overreach.”

“Not to mention that with better social programs we’d be better able to pick up the pieces and rebuild. For example you could have actually finished school Xiao Chen.”

“Really Da Ge, but then you’d have to work even longer in one of the seemingly infinite unregulated businesses for slave-wages.”

“No Xiao Chen, that’s the difference between goo and bad infrastructure and governance.”

“Ohhh. Hey! I see something shiny in the rubble that we can sell! It’s mine!”

      • caine

How the fuck u know which engines they r flying with?

      • caine

        Idiot Hongjian ,

    • Bob

Another toy. How about closing down Gitmo? How about sensible real-estate loans? How about not waging two wars at the same time on the other side of the world? How about no to short-sighted bipartisan politics that antagonizes your biggest trading partner? How an education that get pupils to college instead of getting them shot?

Defense is not unimportant, but instead of being the first country to come up with two new fighter planes by a margin of 20 years [,] how about the thirtieth or [fortieth] country to have a decent government?

      Unimpressed. ;D

  • Confucius says

I see so many uneducated comment here saying J-20 copying F-22.

I am an aviation enthusiast, and any enthusiast would tell you that visibly only the frameless canopy and the weapon bay are similiar to F-22.

The nose that many people suggest is a copy, is in fact different. The F-22 antenna stuck on the point of the nose while J-20 have its antenna above the point of the nose. This meant that J-20 uses totally different radar system.

The wing is also fundamentally different J-20 wing pivots backward, while J-20 is more in a equilateral triangle shape. As you can see here, http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ej5kQwZWlzM/TQnCAnjGCkI/AAAAAAAABUA/S1rDNdRsPPY/s640/Chendu_J_20_US_F_22_Sukhoi_T_50_pak_fa_fighter.jpg

This wing has a flaw, it is not as stealthy as the F-22, however, we still don’t know if the Chinese have a workaround it or not.

The use of canard, is also considered not stealthy as it increases RCS reflection. Still we don’t know if the Chinese have aw workaround or not.

Maneuvarbility-wise, the J-20 can be assumed superior to F-22, as it uses canards and its unique tail.

I know I am talking to a wall here, but at least you ignorant fool can learn something new, aye?

    • Confucius says

J-20 wing pivots backward, while F-22 is more***

    • Hongjian

The canards and vertical stabilizers are heavily coated by RAM and are made of composites to eliminate radar-reflection.
This has been confirmed by the scientists themselves so far.

The J-20 is indeed a very good VLO design, closely rivaling the F-22 in frontal aspect RCS, while surpassing the T-50 by quite a margin.

    • Pvt. Joker

I’ve always thought it was a copy of the Russian version, backwards engineer in Shenzhen somewhere. How long till these planes start dropping out of the sky when they get deployed?

      • Hongjian

Like the F-22 and F-16 amirite?

The F-16 wasnt named “lawn-dart” without a reason.

So much for superior american technology…

your precious american freedom-magical-democracy cant fix the basic rules of engineering: The more complex a system, the more breakdowns.

    • Chad

Let’s be honest here. Most of the comments here calling it an F22 copy comes from insecure and bitter Americans.

    • pervertt

Confucius, good observations about the J-20 front and pivoting vertical stabilisers. The wing shape of the J-20 shown in the 4.bp.blogspot website is wrong though. Compare it to photographs of the J-20 shown here, and the diferences are obvious: http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-J-XX-Prototype.html

Stealth is good, but not everything in a modern fighter. Like all military aeroplanes, the final design of the J-20 will be a compromise of several key criteria, of which stealthiness is one. More informed commentators have pointed out that any fighter becomes very unstealthy once the weapons bays are opened or the radar is turned on.

    • Elijah

How can the J20 be considered superior to the F22 in maneuverability? It doesn’t even have vectored thrust. There are numerous articles with authors much more knowledgable than me who will tell you that no aspect of the J20 is superior than the F22.

      Speed – No
      Radar Range – No
      Stealthiness – No
      Maneuverability – No
      Firepower – No

As for the design, look at the pictures, then look at pictures of the F22, then look at the J20, then back at the F22, then J20, then F22, repeat as necessary. Starting to see the exact same frontal design? And yes, I’m sure if they could have stolen the plans for the radar, they’d have copied that too. Back end is a MiG35 ripoff as well.

Even if the chinese airforce was totally made of these planes it wouldn’t be able to defend against or attack a truly modern military with out resorting to pure overwhelming number tactics which with modern weapons would result in MASSIVE loss of life.

tl;dr = J20 can’t compete, obviously a copy of F22 front, MiG35 back, doesn’t live up to the hype, total waste of money better spent elsewhere

      • Confucius says

Spoken like a true butthurt. Very nice.

Stealthiness- How do you know? They haven’t even release the specs. I guess you must be a god huh? All I know is the Chinese have something up their sleeve.

Maneuvarability- Chinese sources have claimed that production aircraft will be powered by two 13,200 kg/WS-10 class high thrust turbofan engines fitted with Thrust Vector Controlled (TVC) nozzles, both made in China. From wikipedia.

Firepower- Are you joking? So many article have said J-20 is definitely bigger therefore more weapon bay area which means more weapon you fool. And if you don’t know Chinese missile are among the best.

Radar- Again, how? Have they release their specs?

Speed-Again they haven’t release specs. But, I cannot count how many articles have said J-20 larger size means more fuel tank which leads to more supercruising range.

Design- Looking at the front of J-20, nope it has canards. Wing, nope. Nose, nope. Look, you wanna argue design is like arguing why car have the sedan form-factor, guess BMW is copying Mercedes, Mercedes copying Lexus, etc.

The truth is you don’t even know what you are talking about, learnt some basic aviation before you argue.

        • Taco

I am not an avionics or aeronautics expert…but I can also tell that some people on here are spouting pure conjecture. There is not much we know about the plane other than what the photos show or what REAL experts have said about its functionality.

As for the rest of you I am not sure why you are wasting your time arguing with this Canadian…We will see how peace loving Canadians are when Russia starts pushing the Arctic issue. Don’t get me wrong I love Canada; for its easy access for vacations and for its wonderful territorial buffer it provides from….well you know who. :P

I say kudos to China for being able to steal (or borrow from the Russians) at least in part some knowledge about the F22 designs and engineering something a bit different in a few aspects (although inferior to American airpower in many aspects because the US is now onto other unmanned much more compact and manuverable radar avoiding platforms). At least we know now why China is protecting its rare earth minerals from export :)But it obviously demonstrates to us that our military and government have too many leaks due to security inefficiencies because of poorly defined information protocols and etc.

However that being said…I am not sure too many people in China really are happy that the military budget is increasing. Now at 78 billion (approximately) a year….that is what they are saying…but I am pretty sure like the US there are some undisclosed expenditures that would increase that number. Not quite at the levels of US spending, but obviously this could lead to a new arms race in about 15 to 20 years…that is if both the CCP and USA don’t collapse first…on for economic reasons and the other for social reasons.

        • Elijah

Actually I did read up on it, thanks for making sure. I always appreciate people looking out for one another.

I just have one simple question: Do you honestly believe that the ccp has superior technology than the other modernized militaries in the world?

IE: Better RAM (Radar Absorbing Material – Stealth)? Not to mention the back end is not nearly as stealthy as from a front angle.

Better Engines? “chinese sources” = ccp. As for vectored-thrust, anyone see any demonstration of that? No? Oh wait!!! “Will be” like in future right? Yup and there ‘will be’ ftl drives and there ‘will be’ transporters. Pics/vid or didn’t happen

Bigger weapons bay full of what? Missiles that the ccp claim is equivalent to American missiles (they never lie or exaggerate to save face right?)

Better radar? Seriously, have you ever read any articles about the current level of chinese radar tech, look around man.

As for speed, you realize that a larger tank means longer flight, not faster flight, biiiiiig difference. As well, larger tank means more fuel means heavier plane means slower handling and speed.

I’m not sure how anyone with functional eyes can look at the J20 and F22 or MiG35 and say how they’re different. They slapped some canards on the front, but it’s still almost the exact same design as an F22. It’s even about the absurd ‘sedan’ argument you put forth. That’s kie saying all planes copy each other because they have wings and a tail… Reductio ad absurdum eh? No, it’s because this plane is an ACTUAL copy of the F22 front with a few minor changes.

BTW, if we’re bringing sedans into the whole copyright infringement argument then I suggest you check these out.

          • Taco

Not to mention the fact that Chengdu and Shenyang are collaborating in this should SHOW you that China is obviously thinking ahead. Rather than competing the two powerhouse military manufacturers in China are serious about this project…I look forward to hearing about their indigenous engines and how they will compare to what is on the market and what they have been using previously (currently in production). I mean this would be like Lockheed-Martin and Northrop-Grumman coming together to work on a project (yes I know not as advanced but I hope you get the picture)

..i don’t understand all the hype about this J-20 jet, stealth jets did participate in combat mission back in the 80′ already, the technology has been first re-searched as early as the 50′s so nothing new, nothing fancy at all. ahh yes and just a gentle reminder to all the anti american fraction in this blog, remember who did liberate asia fm japanese occupation in WW2?

    • Bob

A 5th-gen fighter is not all about stealth; It is about stealth, super cruise, super maneuverability, and short take off. There are only 4 aircrafts in the world that can be classified as 5th gen. F-22, F-35, T-50, and J-20. Coming out of a country, who 20 years ago still fielded J-8s as their most advanced fighter, it is impressive. This hype is justified.

    • Duke

Ok. Perhaps your retarded, or you don’t know how to do research online. FYI America is still number one. America still has the most technologically advanced military in the world. Name one plane that can go head to head with an F-22. Would love to hear that one. Who has the biggest, most powerful and technologically advanced navy in the world? America. Who has the biggest, most powerful and technologically advanced air force in the world? America. In which country is everything invented. America. Like using the internet, your cell phone, computer mouse, computer or television? What if you get sick and need chemo, or a heart transplant? All invented in America. Also America gets 20% of the entire wolds immigrants. Why do so many people want to go there? How many people want to move to your country? Is it as much as America? Did I mention the worlds biggest economy? Please check my info about inventions on wikipedia. Make sure you have plenty of free time to get through all the inventions. After that go to global firepower .com and check my military info. In closing I want to talk about my basketball skills. Good but not great. Does that make me hate MJ and Kobe? No. Just because your country doesn’t compare with America in anyway(like my game compared to Kobe’s) is no reason for all that “hating”.

  • thewastedyouth

Give me a break you idiots, America already has 180 F-22s plus the new F-35 coming out in a few years

this shit is nothing and I bet it is a copy of the Russian plane that came out a few months ago

I am pretty sure even the old US weapons Taiwan has can blow this back to Mao’s dead mummy cock

    • Bob

Unfortunately, you are the idiot. True America is unrivaled by far in terms of aerospace power.

But the T-50 is completely different from J-20.

And Taiwan’s most advanced fighter is F-16C Block 50, a 4th gen fighter comparable with Chengdu J-10.

First, CONGRATULATION to CHINA for successfully fly the J-20. Strategically, it is VERY IMPORTANT to have this aircraft. Please click “J-20 Dr Kopp” and see what a true blue expert have to say on this plane.

AS FOR THE ORDINARY FOLKS, let me say be patience. CHINA is progressing fast. If you ever lived in the 50′s to 60′s starvation is everywhere. COUNT YOUR BLESSING.

Progress is made in CHINA in almost every field. But time, effort and political will is needed to cause this wealth to share evenly. CHINA is doing its utmost for the betterment of her people. It is not easy to be a leader and government of a 1.3 billion and more than 9.5 square km of land mass. As a oversea CHINESE I can tell you that – you country is doing EXCEPTIONALLY WELL!!!

I wish CHINA well. Look postively to the future. Do not back-bite, back-stab and bad mouth one another. History has already past. Look ahead. ASK YOURSELF – WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR CHINA and NOT – What China can do for you.

In fact this is the motto- the American asked themselves before she became a great story. CHINA can do the same and destined to be great in not too distance future.

    GOD BLESS CHINA

He got red carpet dinner but it wasn’t offered to him HE BEGGED FOR IT,…..Yes China has progressed real fast before they were shame of begging now they feel proud of BEGGING……. GIVE ME STATE DINNER……… Great progress

China is doing EXCEPTIONALLY WELL!!! yes true snatching peoples land to make building, its truely great sign

CHINA is progressing fast. its so fast that poor villagers r being killed, burned, and crashed to get for their land

in 1949 Changan Avenue. people got killed by tank but now China has progressed they will be bombed by J-20
J-20 means the more people that can be suppressed on Changan Avenue.

      China is too inharmonious

I think you just went full retarded. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are just trolling.

Realy sad, to be a greatest world power of 5000 years, with the larges population, the most demanding education system, and the most harmonious society, and still need to steal/rsort to despicable underhand measures to catch up with the level of techology of imperialist fatsoes.

  • Jericho

It is too large, and too heavy to compete in air superiority with the F-22, and the canards make it non-stealth from certain angles, as well as the engine flaps being non-stealth. So its main competition will be the F-111 Ardvark or the F-35 Lightning.

It’s pretty obvious they copied the tech from the US and Russia though. I mean… c’mon. China’s the king of copied materials. Ever heard of Chery Automotive?

US doesn’t want to stop China’s growth. Stop thinking of the US as the enemy. This isn’t the cold war era anymore. Even Russia’s put aside their differences since then. No one’s coming after China. The US has no interest in taking over China. There is nothing in China of interest to the US. The only reason they might poke their noses into Chinese affairs is because of the massive oppression caused by the Chinese government.

In any case, back to the Chendu. It won’t go into operation for another 10 years. Which would make the F-22… over 30 years old. Really think the US won’t have something else by then?

  • Brian P

Do you notice America only starts wars with small countries. They are bullies, but do they try to fight with China or Russia? Never! Because they are afraid to fight with someone who can fight back. I am in Canada, we are neighbours to America so we know they are not to be trusted. If America says they want to be your friend, don’t trust them, it just means you have something they want. I like the new J20, I am sure it with be equal to the F22.

    • Just John

Odd, since I seem to remember America Vs. Russia in what is referred to as the Cold War.
Odd also how you make this opinion when indeed America has lost a war, so it disproves your whole speel about America not willing to fight someone who will fight back.

I think you basically just caught yourself in your own hate filled, anti American lie.

Next are you going to try to talk about the US imperialism?

  • 浦小维

It’s just a wanna-be F-22 with a MiG-25′s engine’s. It can’t do a thing against the Raptor. Besides, that stealth tech is so 2000. Joint Strike Fighters and Sub-Orbital combat are what we use now.

  • Wayne McNear

I think if the Chinses people are not aware that war would not harm them that they are stupid. If war ever breaks out between theU.S.,China what happens to all the inports from the U.S. toChina?IT GOES away.IsChina not enjoying new economic growth? Care to guess where that money comes from?America is very aware that buisnesses are being lost to China and will put a stop to it sooner or later. See if you grow or starve then.

  • Alejandro

J20 has the nose of the F22, The tail of a Su-27 and the wings of an SAAB Drakken. Jesus Creativity Christ, this people have got no imagination.
Funniest of all is how easy if for them to cheer up and how hard for them is to criticize. GO FEED YOUR PEOPLE CHINA !!!!
PS: Gvt Officer watching the test-flight while on a sauna with his Xiaosan 小三 (mistress) drinking MaoTai.. all them paid with “The people’s money”.

    highway to the danger zone!!!!

  • kodi

Good for China! They were finally able to gather enough intelligence to model a stealth fighter off of obsolete F-16 technology. Bring that plane anywhere close to an American, Taiwanese, or Japanese fighter and have your asses handed to you. Be careful not to lose face in the process.

If a rabbit stuffs feathers in its ass does that make it a chicken?

  • outcast

It might not necessarily be a shanzhai version, since the laws of physics act in the same way on both.

That being said this thing no doubt uses a lot of imported components if the J-10 was anything to go by. For example the J-10 was supposed to use an indegenously developed engine but because of severe performance and reliability problems they used an imported Russian engine instead. The Sukhoi Pak-Fa is a much better alternative to the F-22.

  • pervertt

It’s probably a bit of both. Large size points to bigger weapons load capability. Canards suggest manoeuvrability not usually associated with bomb truck. Looks nothing like an F/A 18 or A-10 though.

  • john digmeme

Agree. The front is a complete rip-off of the F-22, the rear is a rip off of the F-18, it doesn’t even look like it has 3D thrust vectoring like the F-22…

It looks slow – the fuselage looks massive, the canards too small… Do they have this proverb in China “The bigger you are, the harder you fall”? I mean, it doesn’t even look real, are we sure this isn’t just one of their regular jets with grey paneling glued over it?

I can’t wait for the first Chinese pilot defector to fly this baby over to Okinawa, it’s gonna be hilarious!

  • Alikese

Those tricky Vietnamese trying to end the Khmer Rouge genocide forcing China to invade Vietnam “defensively.” You wouldn’t want them to try that again.

  • Alikese

No, but they do have the saying: “everything’s bigger in Tex…err… Sichuan.”

  • Peter in China

“I can’t wait for the first Chinese pilot defector to fly this baby over to Okinawa, it’s gonna be hilarious!” <— China isn't North Korea you god damn pompous piece of shit. Chinese pilots are happy living and flying in China.

  • Brian P

The Chinese J20 is good enough to take on America’s F22, and you know why? Because not only is it close enough in preformance and firepower…the U.S. is already trillions in debt and the cost of one raptor is 339 million USD a copy ( http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/1/f-22-raptor-imperative/ ) which kind of limits the U.S. abilty to produce them in any great quantity, whereas China is swimming in money (and people) and should a conflict ever happen, they could fill the skys with these things, the American F22 pilots would probably be outnumbered 20 or 30 to one. No matter how good you are, no one can beat those odds.

  • Elijah

Can… Can I… Um… Have your children? I’m of course assuming that you look like my wife with 36C-cups (not that B-cups aren’t perfect, I wovey-lovey you my Angel, please still have sex with me).

  • Chad

Apparently, a lot of Americans care enough to call the J20 a F22 clone like they have a huge chip on their shoulder.

  • Taco

No American’s don’t have a chip on their sholder. Dude…you need to read more…experts are saying that their are some design aspects that are very similar. I am not saying exact but similar. That being said it is not an exact copy…but some design features were defenitly adopted, adapted, or etc. More likely than not they either reverse engineered it or gathered enough intel on specs and build design in order to produce this. It is not uncommon for competing powers to do this. Just look at the history of weapons…nothing in 5000 years of recorded history has changed much other than technology and ideology.

  • Chad

Some design aspects being similar on a 5th gen fighter is a GIVEN. That doesn’t make it a copy. Jeezus. I’ve yet to see a single expert call it a copy of the F22, but I sure as heck have seen a lot of Americans Joes calling it one. So yes, American DO have a chip on their shoulder.

America has responded before to aggresive threats and has shown over and over that war only makes her stronger and war materials ramp up to supply all she needs to win . we know China will be either our friend because of a civilized (?)people who will finally realize peace saves lives or our enemy and lose a large proportion of it`s people like us. smart or not,you decide.
