We cannot overly criticize anything the passersby did or didn’t do. To be honest, ever since we had the Nanjing judge [see previous post for explanation], the entire society has took a turn for the worse when it comes to this issue. If we did not have this video, I don’t know if whether or not this ayi would be this lucky [in being rewarded for her actions].

网易陕西省手机网友:

The Nanjing judge is the 19th passerby to not save the dying!

.xulin289 [网易浙江省绍兴市网友]:

Although this sound bad, the reality is that 90% of the people will be just like those 18 people, what they would actually do is often times not the same as what they say.

lovedingxu1 [网易四川省成都市网友]:

The reward money should be provided by the Nanjing court.

Heartache, China’s shame.

yyjz0422 [网易广东省广州市网友]:

Begging all the media, leave lady Xian [ayi] alone! Or else no one will become a Good Samaritan; you’ve all seriously intruded on her normal life.

网易江苏省泰州市网友:

Remorse? What were they doing earlier? Would people who had humanity just stand by and watch such a gruesome scene? Chinese people, ignoring what doesn’t affect them personally, sometimes not having everyone gather around to watch out of curiosity is already good enough!

网易湖南省岳阳市网友:

If it was me, I would only call the police and then walk away, I would not help her up. Reason is as follows: 1, afraid of being accused, afraid that as soon as I saved her, her parents would come out accusing me of hurting her. 2, after saving her no one will claim her, and I have to foot the medical expenses, if her parents do not show up then it would be hard for me to leave/remove myself from the situation. 3, In the circumstance that we still do not know the specifics of the traffic accident, I’m afraid if I save her then the police will catch me as the perpetrator, I can only think of these, I hope other netizens can add more. If there are people who agree with me, please repost, and I also hope the editor/author will not delete this post, as I too am a good person/law-abiding citizen.

网易北京市海淀区网友:

According to the logic of the Nanjing and Tianjin [There was a case similar to the Peng Yu case in Tianjin this year] judges, if they weren’t pushed by you, then how could she have been hit by the car? Don’t think that just because you weren’t driving the car you aren’t responsible. If there’s anything our judges are capable of it is finding ways to find you culpable/responsible, and have you pay compensation/fines.

网易山东省济南市网友:

Those netizens who say the ayi only did it for fame, may your future child be born without a butthole.

On Sina Weibo, “retweeted” over 200k times with over 40k comments…

Please stop indifference! From now on, little secretary [referring to self] advocates that everyone use #stop the indifference# as the tag to post on weibo. The tragedy of Little Yue Yue getting ignored by 18 people should never happen again, that morality should not go astray and conscious still remain. From now on let’s begin helping those around us who needs help; caring about others is caring about ourselves.

What do you think? Do you believe people would really do what they say they would do in these kinds of situations?

  1. I hope all drivers in China will drive safely and be patient on the road. Do not bring sorrow to other families as well as your own. Be responsible, hit and run is not the solution; accidents do happen, face it with courage.

    • Drivers in China are probably the LEAST safe and LEAST patient I have ever seen. Imagine the worst driver in a developed country then apply that to basically EVERYone…

You should see how they try to park…

      • “You should see how they try to park.” – Can be very entertaining as long as you’re in a safe spot and have a barrier between yourself and the “parkee.”

They drive cars like they’re on bicycles…

        • In China, “right of way” is actually “way by right”.

So, Chinese don’t drive cars like they’re on bicycles, Chinese drive cars like they’re living out their entitlements.

The richer the car, the louder the horn, the more aggressive the driving, the more the driver’s dad is “Li Gang”.

          • Sooo true.

“I’m rich so I can do WHATEVER I want.” <The Chinese mantra

Most of my clients are super rich so I know their mentality. They're rich so they are entitled to everything everywhere. They're rich so they think they can go study in good American University but their English is totally shit. No hope for those fools.

Money is the root of all ginger.

  2. Attention everyone:

I think you all should get your notebooks out and start taking notes on how to be a proper sentient being…

“There’s no question it was a puppy,” Parker said.

She called 911 and followed the train to Liberty about six miles away.

A Norfolk Southern spokeswoman said they stopped the train, which was going about 50 mph while traveling from Pennsylvania to Atlanta.

The Parkers named the dog Boxcar Hunter, or Boxy for short. They made an appointment with the veterinarian to have the dog checked, but Parker said it seems healthy and happy to be off the train. She has two other dogs and the new pup is getting used to her new surroundings.

  3. This show exactly how fucking sick is this country and the so called people living there. The absolutely NORMAL behavior of the old woman need to be rewarded in money to incentive others to take action in this kind of situations? fuck chinese a shame for human kind

  4. Been a while since chinasmack got updated, did fauna got sick or got a new bf or is she on vacation?

    Common! give us more dirt!

    • She’s sick in love and on vacation with her new boyfriend…we’ll be back from Hawaii next Thursday!!!!!!!!

To be honest I’m really curious to see what she comes up with, has to be a tough call, she won’t fail us. Although if she reruns the “Pole-Dancing” article we may never notice after all the venting we did on this one.

This is still so raw it’s going to keep getting hits for a while, it has a life of its own.

I wonder if these two articles beat the record for posts.

      • But I thought she only translate the news that is popular in china, she doesn’t really write any of the articles herself.

        • Well that’s my impression as well…sssshhhh she may hear us…

          • No no, it’s no secret. Fauna said it herself when some of the poster question the quality of the articles here, she said this site only translate what’s popular in china.

LoL it’s even right at the right side of one of the columns. Just scroll up.

      • “Abused Black Girl Loujing of Shanghai” is this site’s top comment magnet. Last I checked it had over 1,600 comments and counting; that story gets hits every day and the hate train on that won’t stop.

I will say: from what I see now, the “hard” of the hardcore chinaSMACK commenters have changed the nature of comments here where you guys just like to chew the hog while baiting a troll to receive the SMACKdown.

This place now SMACKS of campy daggers. Kudos.

        • Great I looked on that one and lo and behold there was a post from “coala banana”…I ran away screaming. The guy had some output.

I’m hiding under mys desk right now.

    • It’s been a week and still nothing, I hope fauna is ok.

  5. Somebody put the video on the Youtube. A nice upper class lady watched the video and asked me some questions. First, I didn’t know how to explain my feeling. Second, I saw many American are ignorant about China. I want to say, there are many good aspects about China foreigners don’t see and don’t know. People are getting to know a China, and Chinese people. No matter how negative or positive, it takes time for foreigners to digest. And don’t use the double standard to see China. The lady used her American way to think about China . She worried that whether China will dominate the world and start wars. I felt ridiculous to be honest. Please don’t use American way to think. American want to be a leader and want to control and start wars, but doesn’t mean China will do same. Back to this bad news, many foreigners judge Chinese are indifferent and cold, but when they don’t understand its history and its root of culture, I feel like it is a biased view. But anyway, welcome to China and get to know Chinese. I want to say if you want to know China, the best way is to go to Chinese high school and take history and philosophy classes. I feel sorry for the little girl and her parents. I also feel sorry for the kids being killed around the world, especially those who died during the wars.

    • To be fair, many Chinese hold biased and ignorant views toward foreigners too, both sides need to make adjustments mentally and dialogue on equal footings, if it is exaggerating that we human beings are living on a flat earth, it is more than true that we are living in a much more smaller world nowadays.

  6. She looks awesome!

  7. I just wanted to post this story about a small plane crash in my city of Vancouver that happened last night:
    http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news/story/2011/10/27/bc-richmond-plane-crash.html

If you read the story, you’ll notice that “witnesses rushed to help” even while the plane was burning. These brave individuals did not get reward money and did not get famous for risking their lives to help strangers. They did it simply because they are good citizens. Can there ever be such acts of heroism in China? I hope so.

  8. So the kid lived?! Wow!

    • No, she’s dead.
We could keep going on snd on castigating the arseholes that passed her by. But the reality of seeing a man driving over her for a second time to finish off the job remains the crux of the story.
We can argue about all manner of sociological cultural relativist tripe. But the fact is a man ran over a toddler, looked down and around, and decided for himself that she’d be better off dead, in order to save a few bucks in compo, if he got caught.
I bet he gets off, and if indeed he does get executed as should be the case, no laws will be legislated or changed.
Yueyue’s life will amount to nothing in regard influencing a change.
She was but one in 1.4 billion. Scream and bitch all you like, wear shades in solidarity, but nothing will change the nature of the mysoginist nature of the CCP. Fascist mafioso dressed in Marxist propaganda. I really do sometimes think that they would be fools to believe their own bile, which of course, they don’t.
Cause when we get behind closed doors, and you let your hair hang down………..

    • It’s very pathetic situation in china…this show Chinese 5% only have the courage to help a person in need (1/18×100). If this happened in My country this percentage will be 95%..mean out of 18,17 people will jump to help…this kind help very common in my country…it is not a news or event to cover by journalist or media…if my country people going to make news out of this kind of things my country news papers,tv,radio,etc..nothing else to show..+ government may need to allocate huge amount money for rewards…shame on Chinese..sorry. I am a Sri Lankan.

      • Yeah, your govt just bombs helpless refugees on the beach, and your Tamil tigers use the same refugees for human shields.
        Nice place Sri Lanka.

        • Dear I am not talking about wars or politics…I only talk about general public attitude about helping others…If talk about war..politics…freedom…transparency…etc..You can ask whole world what about china level in past and present…:) it far away to Sri Lankan standards.
If anyone want to threat chinese sovereignty china people or government will just sit and wait? You can ask the whole world if a Sri Lankan and Chinese which person have more qualities and values in life they will answer you…China is not the world..it is one country in the world..World is more bigger than china.

  9. Oh no, the story that won’t go away. The detritus from the last update is still floating around in the ether out there.

Before everybody becomes apoplectic once again, let’s proactively put a little perspective on this.. Let’s see what is happening in the self-proclaimed “Geatest City in the World.”

  10. This is an incident that everyone in the world can learn from. Typically a poor hard working woman comes to the aid of a child in need. What happened to mankind? Why are we all so non-caring, not to help another person in need.
To me, it was a very sad experience…but it also gave me hope that there are people like Ayi in this world. She deserves a medal, and more. She is the example of hope for all mankind. Thank you Ayi…you are beautiful in your heart!
