‘Unforgettable’ (aka as “What I Miss” or “What I Yearn For”) is from Stefanie Sun’s 2007 album Against the Light (available on Amazon).

Song and Music Videos:

Composer: Li Caisong
Lyrics: Yao Ruolong
Singer: Sun Yanzi/Stephanie Sun

Lyrics (Original Chinese, Pinyin Romanization, and English Translation):

我问为什么 那女孩传简讯给我
wǒ wèn wèi shén me nà nǚ hái chuán jiǎn xùn gěi wǒ
I ask [you] why that girl texted me

而你为什么 不解释低着头沉默
ér nǐ wèi shén me bù jiě shì dī zhe tóu chén mo
I ask why you refused to explain and only lowered your head in silence

我该相信你很爱我
wǒ gāi xiāng xìn nǐ hěn ài wǒ
Should I believe that you love me so much

不愿意敷衍我
bú yuàn yì fū yǎn wǒ
that you’re just unwilling to lie to me

还是明白 你已不想挽回什么
hǎi shì míng bái nǐ yǐ bù xiǎng wǎn huí shén me
or [should I] realize that you no longer care to save our relationship

PRE-CHORUS:

想问为什么 我不再是你的快乐
xiǎng wèn wèi shén me wǒ bú zài shì nǐ de kuài lè
I want to ask why I am no longer your happiness

可是为什么 却苦笑说我都懂了
kě shì wèi shén me què kǔ xiào shuō wǒ dōu dǒng le
But why did I bitterly smile and say I understand everything

自尊常常将人拖着
zì zūn cháng cháng jiāng rén tuō zhe
Pride often often drags people along

把爱都走曲折
bǎ ài dōu zǒu qū zhé
making love a winding journey

假装了解是怕 真相太赤裸裸
jiǎ zhuāng liǎo jiě shì pà zhēn xiàng tài chì luǒ luiǒ
Pretending to understand is for the fear of the all too bare truth

狼狈比失去难受
láng bèi bǐ shī qù nán shòu
The awkwardness is worse than losing you

CHORUS:

我怀念的 是无话不说
wǒ huái niàn de shì wú huà bù shuō
What I miss is being able to talk about everything

我怀念的 是一起作梦
wǒ huái niàn de shì yì qǐ zuò mèng
What I miss is dreaming together

我怀念的 是争吵以后 还是想要爱你的冲动
wǒ huái niàn de shì zhēng chǎo yǐ hòu hái shì xiǎng yào ài nǐ de chōng dòng
What I miss is how after a fight I would still have the urge to love you

我记得那年生日
wǒ jì dé nà nián shēng rì
I remember that birthday that year

也记得那一首歌
yě jì dé nà yì shǒu gē
and remember that one song

记得那片星空
jì dé nà piàn xīng kōng
I remember that starry night

最紧的右手
zuì jǐn de yòu shǒu
how your right hand held me tight

最暖的胸口
zuì nuǎn de xiōng kǒu
and the warmth of your chest…

谁 记得
shuí jì dé
Who still remembers?

谁 忘了
shuí wàng le
Who has forgotten?

PRE-CHORUS

CHORUS

谁 忘了
shuí wàng le
Who has forgotten?

我怀念的 是无言感动
wǒ huái niàn de shì wú yán gǎn dòng
What I miss is being moved beyond words

我怀念的 是绝对炽热
wǒ huái niàn de shì jué duì zhì rè
What I miss is the absolute passion

我怀念的 是你很激动 求我原谅抱得我都痛
wǒ huái niàn de shì nǐ hěn jī dòng qiú wǒ yuán liàng bào de wǒ dōu tòng
What I miss is you desperately begging me to forgive you, holding me so tightly  that it hurt

我记得你在背后
wǒ jì dé nǐ zāi běi hòu
I remember you behind me

也记得我颤抖着
yě jì dé wǒ chàn dǒu zhe
and remember my trembling

记得感觉汹涌
jì dé gǎn jué xiōng yǒng
I remember the flood of feelings

最美的烟火
zuǐ měi de yān huǒ
the most beautiful fireworks

最长的相拥
zuì cháng de xiāng yōng
the longest embrace

谁爱得太自由
shuí ài de tài zì yóu
Who loved too freely

谁过头太远了
shuí guò tóu tài yuǎn le
Who went way too far

谁要走我的心
shuí yào zǒu wǒ de xīn
Who took my heart

谁忘了那就是承诺
shuí wàng le nà jiù shì chéng nuò
Who forgot that was a vow

谁自顾自地走
shuí zì gù zì de zǒu
Who walked away thinking only of themselves

谁忘了看着我
shuí wàng le kǎn zhe wǒ
Who forgot to watch over me

谁让爱变沉重
shuí ràng ài biàn chén zhòng
Who made love so heavy

谁忘了要给你温柔
shuí wàng le yào gěi nǐ wēn róu
Who forgot to give you tenderness

我怀念的
wǒ huái niàn de
What I miss…

我还有想要爱你的冲动
wǒ hái yǒu xiǎng yào ài nǐ de chōng dòng
I still have the urge to love you

我记得那年生日
wǒ jì dé nà nián shēng rì
I remember that birthday that year

也记得那一首歌
yě jì dé nà yì shǒu gē
and remember that one song

记得那片星空
jì dé nà piàn xīng kōng
I remember that starry night

最紧的右手
zuì jǐn de yòu shǒu
how your right hand held me tight

最暖的胸口
zuì nuǎn de xiōng kǒu
and the warmth of your chest

我放手
wǒ fàng shǒu
I let go

我让座
wǒ ràng zuò
I gave up my place

假 洒脱
jiǎ sǎ tuō
and pretended that I don’t care

谁懂我多么不舍得
shuí dǒng wǒ duō me bù shě dé
Who knew how much I hated to leave you

太爱了
tài ài le
I loved you too much

所以我
suǒ yǐ wǒ
So I

没有哭
méi yǒu kū
didn’t cry

没有说
méi yǒu shuō
and didn’t speak up

    who is she? I forgot…

  • Will

    She’s from Singapore.

    • mr. wiener

      She sang well..la.

  • plorf

Can we establish a sister site called ChinaBore for all the silly pop song lovers?

    • Alex

      Second.

    • Cleo

moan, moan, moan as was said in Gosford Park

      • mr. wiener

Is there a chinese[mainland] equivilant to Wu Bai?
I am so tired of all these manufactured metrosexual girlymen [yeah I know the west has them too].
Why does the mass media love these types like “poodleboy” at the bottom? It’s a Taiwanese weapon of mass sexual-disfunction.

        • linette

It’s not just Taiwan. The East Asians are all like that. The pop idol men all look like women. So strange. With long hair and make up. Look at Japan and Korea. You can’t even tell who’s who. They all look the same. Except for Jay Chou. JC doesn’t look like a girl. He dresses cool. HK Raymond Lam and Chung-chak Wong are cute too and don’t dress like girls.

Well justin bieber has girly style too. But he is just a boy.

          • mr. wiener

Justin Bieber is a boy!?! aww jeez If I’d known that I wouldn’t have put that photo of him up in the loo.
‘scuse me I feel the urge to bathe in bleach now.

          • linette

hehe…justin bieber is talented too. I don’t like his work but he is the producer and composer of his own music. Not bad for a little kid.

          • whiskersthecat

I saw Jay Chou on TV with two obviously gay muscle dudes. Jay Chou may not dress like a woman, but he’s a woman on the inside.

          • linette

oh whiskersthecat, leave Jay chou alone. You don’t know anything about him. He is not gay. He is just a normal dude who likes fast car and hot chicks. Jay is not only a very talented musician, he is also a smart business man. Millions of women love man like Jay who is talented and intelligent. And he is not bad looking at all. You wish you are a woman so you can marry him.

          • whiskersthecat

If I were a woman, I wouldn’t marry a man who’s blowing two bodybuilders and trying to make everyone believe his fag-hags are just his hot bitches.

          • linette

whiskersthecat..haha…you are so funny. You are killing me. Leave Jay chou alone. Stop spreading false rumors about him. He is not gay.
Why so many men hate JC? Probably because they all wish they have a net worth of US$300 millions and talents and his talents.

          • rollin wit 9’s

SYZ isnt bad actually. I listened to some of her older stuff when i was in HS in the 90’s; years ago.

          • whiskersthecat

Haha nah, it’s just because he’s obnoxious.

        • moop

its so the cadres dont feel so bad when they force them to do sexual favors. i keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

          • Little Wolf

I actually like Sun Yanzi, in fact my old band(duo, actually…just me and a Chinese girl singer) covered a couple of her songs and they converted to metal-style quite well.
Jay Zhou is the among the absolute worst shit I’ve ever had the displeasure to listen to. The most over-rated star of all time, anywhere, in my book.

          • Capt. WED

it’s called a posse. Don’t you have one?

whoever said this song is slow needs to skip to the the middle, it’s super fast. My jam!

Justin Biber produces his own songs??? Love him (I’m safe in saying that since he’s 18+ right?)

          • linette

            Little Wolf
You don’t know anything about JC. You probably don’t even listen to JC songs. Jay writes all kind of music. From heavy metal to hip hop to chinese traditional songs. He can play like 8 to 9 different instruments. He is different and interesting and never boring.
LW, I thought you are a musician and you also write songs. Then you should have more respect to other musicians like Jay , Gaga and Justin bieber that compose their own music. It takes talent and knowledge to write good songs. Singer like Beyonce and Britney need an army of musicians to write songs for them. They don’t have the knowledge nor the talent to put together their own album. But at least Britney is a good dancer and Beyonce is an outstanding vocalist like Whitney Houston and Mariah carey. 90% of the singers like Sun Yanzi in the pop culture are just Karaoke singer. Nobody can sing. They rely on heavy packaging and plastic surgery. They are not musician. They are just packaged karaoke singer/pop idol.

    • Duckie

The only thing these pop songs smack of is boredom…

Are there any sites similar to ChinaSmack, by the way?

  • Vonskippy

Surely with 1.7 BILLION inhabitants there’s at least one singer that sings something fast and exciting instead of the snooze-fests that have been published on China Smack.

Maybe it’s Chinese government plot, they want to keep all their citizens in a semi-sleep state so they don’t realize how much their government is screwing them over.

  • sofa, she has beutiful sang

  • Mao Ze Shenme Dong Dong

Whats with the narrow set teeth and the eye mole? I would have cheated on her moley ass too.

    • mr. wiener

      She’s cute….la

      • Mao Ze Shenme Dong Dong

        If you like moles.

        • Pete the Meat

          I’d slip her a length

  • linette

Very strange………..Why some men wear more make up than me?

    • mr. wiener

They are not as pretty as you obviously.

      • linette

hehe..I will not date a man that’s prettier than me. Lol

        • Mao Ze Shenme Dong Dong

With a face like dropped pie, you may be cutting your options there don’t you think?

  • elizabeth

Her songs always feel dissonant to me. That coupled with a a unique and ‘shivering’ voice makes her stand out. No need for plastic surgery or fancy dance moves.

But, not my cup of tea.

    • Mao Ze Shenme Dong Dong

I am glad you stopped where you did. If I had seen the word ‘fusion’ somewhere in that post I would have had to shut you down.

Cup of tea? More like bag of shit.

  • elizabeth

Shut me down? You can’t. I haven’t issued any threats.

  • Ray

I know these music video articles and joke and humor articles have been floating around for awhile, but why are these actually posted in ChinaSmack? I mean someone must’ve explained it already in the beginning but it will be great if someone can clarify this for lazy ol me.

    Cheers!

  • Little Wolf

Linette, if you like Jay Chou that’s fine with me. But don’t just assume that I know nothing about Jay. Living in China for 10 years, I have been stalked relentlessly by his shitty fucking music. I don’t like his music and I don’t like his stupid persona. I also don’t like stinky tofu so I guess that makes me a horrible person. If his music is so great why is it I can’t remember a single one of his songs, except his awful wannabe hip-hop song they play as the credits roll after the Green Hornet movie? I don’t listen to any of those other singers you mentioned either and can care less how their music is produced.. You probably wouldn’t like alot of the music I listen to but I’d never be so asinine as to tell you you don’t know shit about music. Anyway, don’t worry. He has plenty of fans so whether I hate his music or not is not going to make much difference.

    • linette

I don’t like his music and I don’t like his stupid persona. I also don’t like stinky tofu so I guess that makes me a horrible person……

No, not liking JC or stinky tofu don’t make you a horrible person. I didn’t mean it that way. I apologize if I offended you. I am sure you know music more than me. I don’t even play piano that well. I am still learning. I kind of suck in music. If you play in the band and you write I am sure you are much more knowledgeable than me.
How you know I don’t like the type of music you listen to. Test me. I listen to many types of music.

      • Little Wolf

Ok Linette…..try “Destination Device” by One-Way Mirror, “Diesel Uterus” by Mnemic or anything by Sevendust. I like the kind of music that sounds like starting up a lawnmower :-)

        • mr. wiener

You ever listened to Wu Bai ,Lil’ Wolf ?
Closest Taiwan will ever have to real pub rock.

        • linette

I like it. You like heavy heavy metal. I like heavy metal but not so heavy. I love system of a down. I listen to them all the time driving. I like linkin park and Evanescence also.

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDdijLKpuCE

          • whiskersthecat

Linkin Park, Evanescence, and System of a Down are not heavy metal. You insult metal by suggesting they are.

          • Little Wolf

Well….those bands kind of rode the “nu-metal” wave. Then again, so did Creed…and………..NICKELBACK!

          • whiskersthecat

Haha Nu-Metal…What I like to call “meathead bodybuilder rock” or “when a Chinese guy tells me he loves metal, which bands he’s likely to name first” rock. Creed and Nickelback are like…I dunno…that early 2000s radio rock where every guy dresses like a large town’s typical cool-but-a-bit-short-and-stocky male population and sings with a raspy voice about overly emotional bullshit. Sing a few slightly tough ones and really reel them in with a song about your newborn daughter and how much you love her. Ta-daaaaa you’ve just sold two albums and a bunch of t-shirts to hillbillies and if you know how to save money, you’re set for life before everyone starts making fun of you.

          • linette

I was about to mention creed also. I really like that song Higher from them.

    • The Enlightened One

I hate stinky tofu and don’t like Jay Chou either.

His music seems too cheesy or manufactured, same with his persona.

      • linette

I LOVE JAY CHOU………and his music and his personality and his look….and his cars…

I am going to get a jay chou tattoo on my chest. So I can show it off to JC in his concert while I am holding sign and jumping up and down. haaahaaaaaaa………….

        • The Enlightened One

Well, sign me up for the next Jay Chou concert… but I won’t be looking at the stage haha!

  • Little Wolf

Linette, Evanescence and Linkin Park are guilty pleasures of mine. Never liked System of a Down. If you like Evanescence you should hear a band called Lacuna Coil from Italy.

Sorry wiener, haven’t heard Wu Bai. But I’ll have a listen.

    • The Enlightened One

Evanescene is good (certain songs) I like Linkin Park’s earlier work (Hybrid Theory and Meteora). Seemed to have more passion than their work now.

Some other good bands for Rock or Heavy Metal (at least with a few good songs):

      Chevelle
      Shinedown
      Rob Zombie
      Papa Roach
      Foo Fighters
      Blue Stahli (sort of electronic)
      Trapt
      Trivium
      Static-X
Adema (sort of like Linkin Park)
      Hollywood Undead

Good music for working out or get an energy pump. If you got any other good suggestions in the rock/heavy metal genre (that isn’t too cookie monster). Please let me know.

      • Little Wolf

TEO: Sevendust always gets me revved up at the gym. Also….get the rotten fruit and vegetables ready…… LIMP BIZKIT! C’mon man “Break Stuff” right before a super-set. Works every time. Also:

        Suicidal Tendencies
        Queensryche
        Korn
        Dimmu Borgir

        • The Enlightened One

LimpBizkit is okay, he just sounds kind of whiny sometimes. I remember how big the song “Nookie” was when it came out. But I do like some of his stuff.

I need to check out the other ones you mentioned (other than Korn, cause I know I like them). Haven’t heard of the other ones though.

Undead – Hollywood Undead is really good for the gym…”You better get out of the way..” if you haven’t heard this song you really need to get it.

Oh, I forgot to mention Disturbed… I like a lot of their stuff and Slipknot too.

      • whiskersthecat

For metal, try things like Children of Bodom, At the Gates, Dethklok, Strapping Young Lad, and while you’re at it Devin Townsed Project (Devin Townsend is my favorite musician), Finntroll, Mastadon, so on so forth.

If you want Asian, look no further than Taiwan’s own Chthonic. Their music is mean as hell. Their videos are downright imaginative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heF_NPJbv8Y
They have English and Chinese versions, but the English versions seem to have a bit better quality.

If anyone knows any other real, quality metal to come out of Asia, let me know. I’ve heard a lot of underground stuff, but I’m talking established, quality stuff.

  • Little Wolf

THANK YOU TEO! I thought I was the only one.

  • Little Wolf

Is it just me or is anybody else not happy with the new comment format? Replys get posted at random and there’s hardly any flow to the threads. I can live with the “sofa” thing if this suppose to be how Fauna is trying to get rid of it.

  • Little Wolf

Linette, I want to see that tattoo.

    • mr. wiener

I want to see before and after shots :P

    • linette

Yeah Jay on one side and Chou on the other. hahahaha…….
