Chengdu University Fashion Show Rips Off Victoria’s Secret

Pictures and video of a student-run fashion show held at China’s Chengdu University of Technology recently surfaced online and attracted a lot of attention from Chinese netizens, who quickly pointed out that both the clothing designs and the way the models sashayed down the catwalk resembled the famous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

While other commenters debated the appropriateness of such a risqué show in a university, most just expressed their appreciation of the eye candy.

VS did it better every time with the clothes and the charisma.
Also, a fashion show is not only about imitating a design, you can take certain components of the design and remake it but you cant just look at something and then just imitate it.

Times change, ideas change, so don’t spend the present just copying the past.

you guys have no brain to create your own designs? what you are doing is as the thieves steeling others’ ideas and act as if they were your own. how shame you are…

Everytime we produce a play at our universities it’s usually a copy of a Broadway play…….
The fashion show was not ment to be original but how close can we come to copy a “master-piece”.

      Well done then!

And I do have a ‘Penchant’ for Asians so your show wins out for me ;o)

don’t matter if it’s 山寨 or not, I want’em all on my private catwalk!!

Jesus, don’t take this shit so seriously you guys. It’s just a bunch of silly girls who want to look sexy and imitate high fashion. Who cares? So what if it’s just a lame shanzhai copy of the VS fashion show. You gotta hand it to them that they did their best to recreate the VS show on probably what was at best a shoestring budget. How much money do you think these Chengdu university students had compared to Victoria Secret?

    • Bobby

I highly doubt these girls designed and crafted these costumes with their own hands. These costumes are the results of businessmen who only want to make a profit without regards to originality.

When is the Chinese version of anything an original concept and NOT a knock-off?

How do you guys know that it wasn’t the exact intent of the show to mimic the victoria’s secret show? Maybe that was the assignment and the concept behind the show.

Because everything China does is fake or copy. Did these students thank or acknowledge that they carbon copy VS before or after the show? I am sure they did not because Chinese people have no sense of shame or ethics or morality. That is why Chinese will always lag behind the west.

      • idk_hehe

You know, that is really mean. You think the students really chose this? I bet they had to do this, or they wanted to challenge themselves by doing something made by a professional. And what you’re saying is as good as saying that all Americans are prostitutes or slu*s. Do you know the whole? NO.

    VS should sue them..

Everything I just scrolled through was impeccably presented. Clothing drama, designs and displays are (nigh-on) uncopyrightable…may this be a beautiful sign of the future. Go guys.

  • NightBlue

The chinese girls are even better than the lame victoria’s secrets models. Chinese girls are always way more pretty!

  • K2

Looks like the right side made improvements.
