Obama Visits Korea 38th Parallel, Chinese Netizen Reactions

Chinese netizens comment on Obama's recent visit the 38th Parallel where he surveyed North Korea and the DMZ through binoculars behind bulletproof glass.

March 25th, U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Seoul, South Korea to participate in the second international Nuclear Security Summit. En route to the summit, Obama made a detour and paid a visit to Camp Bonifas near the Demilitarized Zone separating South Korea from the North. Though it is not Obama’s first time visiting Korea, this trip marked Obama’s first visit to the DMZ where he surveyed the 38th Parallel through binoculars from behind bulletproof glass.

Obama also payed tribute to the American and Korean soldiers manning Camp Bonifas, calling their service a protection of “freedom’s frontier.”

Since the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War, the 2.5 mile wide, 160 mile long strip of land separating the two Koreas has been the worlds most fortified border with two million combat troops stationed on either side.

I will support North Korea forever.

Obama is so courageous, not afraid of our artillery accidentally firing?

Are you a North Korean who sneaked into China?

Isn’t it to take a look at the Resist U.S. Help North Korea battleground?

爱国者7788:

Korea’s grandpa is here! O(∩_∩)O!

yuxiangn72:

During the 1911 Xinhai Revolution we overthrew the Qing Dynasty dictatorship. 100 years later we support North Korea’s Kim Jong-Il dynasty! If any of you went to North Korea, you’d certainly feel pity for the commoners. [North Korea’s] ruler treats his people with extreme cruelty! Looking at these comments I just want to say: knowledge is power, and equally ignorance is also power.

娶娟无悔: (responding to above)

So you are willing to support America’s imperialism?

该呢称将被使用: (Responding to yuxiangn72)

On this Earth I don’t think there is any government that wishes to have their people starve or freeze. Everyone wants to live a prosperous life, however this requires preconditions. North Korea is facing an American-led blockade from the rest of the world, if they want to become prosperous, how can they do it easily? Everything they have they’ve done themselves, and they only have themselves to rely on.

As a matter of fact, America is the number one contributor of aid to North Korea, including technology transfer.

Long live America, God bless America….Long live democracy, long live freedom, I’m so shameful of China’s lack of elections and suffrage.

Too many SBs [in this thread].

What would happen if at this moment a terrorist used a sniper rifle and headshot Obama?

Casually counting, there’s 7 layers of glass, each layer 1 centimeter, what do you think?

terranuld: (responding to above)

How ’bout an RPG then?

251255: (responding to above)

Don’t always believe that an RPG is that powerful! At the very least you’d need a 170MM artillery shell!

mqbstc123 :

Although North Korea won [the Korean War], national policy has made their country increasingly poor. Although Japan lost [World War 2], national policy has made their country increasingly prosperous.

我是你天雷哥:

These past three years have changed [Obama] from a youngster into an old man.

我爱老婆瓶子:

Too many traitors. Traitors, if you like America, just go! Don’t stay here and bark!

我爱老婆瓶子:

There are too many running American dogs on the internet these days.

旷野自由人:

Korea is just a dog raised by America!

手机加密:

[Obama] came to see how they [the United States] was sent running/driven out!

wsygbdlm:

If I were North Korea, I would just use an artillery shell, and let’s see what use bulletproof glass is then.

道一纹字:

North Korea is just an ignorant rogue, with no reason to be cocky, having closed themselves off from the world, ruled by a dictatorship, worshiping the leader, the poor people suffering — tell me, what does this North Korea have to show off/feel proud of?

yjb123:

American troops stationed in Korea… Korea, are you really stupid or just pretending to be stupid? Troops in your homeland… It’s a soft invasion.

流光碎影FLY:

“Korea’s prosperity relies on Americans” — When Koreans hear Obama say this, do their faces turn red in embarrassment?

老鼠要吃猫: (responding to above)

Would they? China’s rear flank relied on the Soviets (Russians), and the security of China’s front (North Korean springboard) relies on the North Koreans — I wonder if the faces of Chinese people hearing this would turn red in embarrassment?
