Lyrics (Original Chinese, Pinyin Romanization, and English Translation):

你的笑容是恩惠
nǐ de xiào róng shì ēn huì
Your smile was a blessing

shì jiè nán dé nà me měi
The world was rarely so beautiful

yú shì zhuī yào nǐ péi
So I chased [you], for you to be with me

kě xī běn néng zhōng huì jiāng měi lì hàn shuǐ huà chéng lèi shuǐ
Unfortunately instinct eventually turned beautiful sweat into tears [meaning the object of affection eventually stopped fulfilling the admirer’s needs]
hēi yé zhī suǒ yǐ huì hēi
The reason the dark night is dark

jiào xǐng rén xīn lǐ de guǐ
is to awaken the ghost in a person’s heart

zài yóu shuì zài yíng huí
to lobby, to haunt

zài tǐ nèi shì shén me zài bǎ wǒ cuī huǐ zài shāng hén lěi lěi
What’s in my body, that destroys me and riddles me with scars?
CHORUS #1:

wǒ kě yǐ wú suǒ wèi
I can pretend I don’t care

jì mò què yì zhí diào yǎn lèi
But loneliness keeps shedding tears

rén lèi chú le shàn cháng tuí fèi zuò shén me dōu bú duì
Human beings, other than excelling at decadence, are good for nothing

Oh…I’m not okay
CHORUS #2:

wǒ jiǎ zhuāng wú suǒ wèi
I pretend I don’t care

cái kàn bú dào xīn běi nǐng suì
So my shattered heart can’t be seen

rěn zài ài qíng lǐ yuè cán fèi jiù huì yuè duō ān wèi
The more disabled [dispirited] people are in love, the more comforting they will get

wú lùn duō xū wěi
No matter how fake
kōng xù bìng fēi shì cí huì
Empty is not [only] a word

néng gòu xíng róng de mó guǐ
It’s a monster that can be described

tā zhī pèi zhe xíng wéi
It controls human behavior

néng bǎi tuò jì mò wǒ shén me dōu kěn gěi jiù xiàng gè kuí lěi
To cast off my loneliness I am willing to give anything, just like a puppet [under the control of emptiness]
CHORUS #1
CHORUS #2 x2

wú lùn duō xū wěi
No matter how fake

I like this song Mr. lonely. I like his voice.

I like Adam singing live too. so good.

  • linette lee

I think this youtube dude Gerald is more talented than those people in china talent show. He has really nice voice even sound better than original singer singing live and plays different instruments.

Guang liang is a very talented song writer. I like the songs he writes. His singing so so.

    Gerald sings the song nicer.

Besides poofter pop songs and people quibbling over what happens after 70 years if you own property in China, anyone seen this:

Linette, feel free to chip in at your leisure. Meself, I think I’ve just gone off the idea of dating a HK gal, impossible as it was to begin with:(:(

Other than the spectacle itself I was surprised on the behavior of the people around them. They mostly minded their business; they took a peek of course, who wouldn’t? I was thinking if it was Beijing here would be a staring squad of 200 strong – just starring… with the arms behind their backs. You know that stance.. and just staring..

      • Peter Wilton Cushing

        Yeah, lol, that stance…too funny!

      • linette lee

Few people went up to tell the guy please stand up not to tolerate anymore. Then the HK police arrested the girl for assault. So apparently someone called the hk police.

        • Claude

Really arrested? Did you read that online? Interesting, because I find Asian police don’t get into domestic affairs. I guess even HK police have their limits. That boy needs some self esteem, just walk away from that nonsense and never look back.

          • linette lee

It was on the HK news and HK discussion forum. Someone called the hk police and she was arrested for assault. The 23yr old guy was taken to the hospital.
I don’t see it as very serious assault. But it is not very common in HK. You won’t see men beating wife or girlfriends beating boyfriends on the HK streets. For those men coming to HK to beat hk women on the street…watch out. HK police will arrest you and ask the wife if she wants to file charges. You can go to jail for it.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

Is there any difference between the way cantonese speakers read chinese? Have asked many times, but get told it is exactly the same….even though cantonese and mandarin are essentially different languages?!

          • linette lee

HK and Taiwan use traditional writing and China use simplified. They are the same but strokes is a bit different.

            Traditional:

            Simplified:

Mandarin and Cantonese and all the other chinese all use same chinese characters writing either traditional or simplified. Most Chinese understand and speak mandarin but we all also have our own dialect like cantonese,
            shanghainese, Hokkien, etc..

Mandarin is the easiest compare to other dialect.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

            Thanks for clearing it up.

When I was in Xiamen it was interesting to see a woman teaching xiamen dialect, which is similar or the same as min nan in taiwan, on the street. So HK and Taiwan use the same writing, thanks for the input.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

Indeed, he is in HK, someone should remind him there are lots of girls

          • linette lee

HK girls are not all Chinese. Like Hk guys are not all Chinese. lol. The Chinese hk girls many of them go marry away in another place. Like Taiwan or China or USA or Canada. Or they just don’t get marry at all.

    • Butsu

I’ve seen mainland girls do this as well. She slapped him up real good, and all he could mutter was “I’m sorry”.

I smack a ho or two.
I smack em black and blue.
I smack em till I’m through.
I smack em, oh it’s true.

I smack em, How about you?

          Haha, just kidding. =P

          • mr.wiener

            I wouldn’t ever smack a ho
I’d turn my head and away I’d go
I would not smack her on a boat
I would not smack her with a goat
though you want to smack her just like a chimp
i’d leave the smacking to her pimp.

        • Butsu

Now I don’t understand chinese at all so my girlfriend had to translate for me. It seems he just made her wait at the subway station, because he couldn’t leave work. But hi promised to be there on time. My girlfriend thought she was out of control. That said, some guys probably do deserve it.

my ex,he lied to me again and again.
after i said bad things then he hided up,after some time then he wrote to me promises he will be good, this and that.
after i talked to him again, nothing changed.even last month he wrote to me begging me that he lost job,i told him fuck off.
a man even can not keep his words,he makes things difficult after lost temper cursed something really bad then he said it’s all your fault, because insulted him like a dog.
just should not forgive him from the first time.

    • linette lee

Woow…she is one ugly bxtch. lol. I am glad the hk police arrested her for assault. She sounds so ugly too. lol. A lot of these people in HK speak cantonese with such heavy accent.
The only reason why that man put up with it because he couldn’t find better one with his quality. Men who have the quality to date beautiful educated women will never be like that. lol. So there is a Chinese saying “one is willing to beat, the other one is willing to be beaten.” They truly deserve each other. lol.

      • Peter Wilton Cushing

Perhaps you can proffer some dating advice, is money a big factor when dating a HK gal? True, they deserve each other, I certainly would not tolerate THAT! Where are you state side?

        • linette lee

money is a factor for almost most people in this world. Money is a necessity but not important in life. Why everyone keep saying you need money to date HK girls? HK girls a lot of them are very capable of making very good living on their own. No need to live off from men. Many don’t need men to pay for them or buy them condos.
I think some women expect their spouses to be equal or higher in terms of financial, education, and social status. They don’t want to marry down. I think that’s fair. You look at those minimum wage high school drop out women they married to high school graduate supervisor in the store. To them that is considered marrying well. Good match…but women with higher education degree won’t feel that way.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

Fair enough, I remember seeing a white guy, possibly british working on the mtr (underground to brits, subway to americans) in HK doing maintenance/measuring work on the walkway. I also saw a few homeless white guys in HK, although did not know if they were british. I suppose HK, much like Dubai, London, New York or Tokyo is very pragmatic in the expectations of its women folk?

i also knew some young white boys got stuck in china,i do not know why they have to stay in china and only can make a very cheap living standard.
i once met one, that time,he was a young brother of my ex,i tried to help him.i had another empty room, and always called him to eat,but this little ass even did not try to help me a little bit when i was busy in store,i got mad.so,over.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

            http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China/KD18Ad01.html

There was an article about homeless white men in HK, but it seems to have been taken down. This is about homeless whites in China.

should kick out some rubbish white trash out of china.our rich or talented go to west, west losers come…not good.
also,my father and brother and some others they all disagree marry white.some chinese actress got cheated by white men and took their money away, this and that…even i met some girl married white told me that marry chinese is better, nowadays more and more rich chinese,no need.
and i also knew some white cheaters, their wives all have very bad temper,i also noticed that because they know their men are cheating…

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

            that sounds like….yang rui?

            hahahaha,maybe!

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

a good sense of humour you have, lol

          • linette lee

Not enough rich good looking Chinese men for all the rich good looking Chinese girls. That is why the Chinese girls marry foreigner for more option. Also I notice the rich educated Chinese men are EXTREMELY PICKY also. They think they are god..lol. They all want a super model girlfriend who is also from rich family. So the working class chinese girls no chance. And not only that. Those good looking chinese men with high degree are very picky too. So forget about them.
My brother is nice looking and he has high degree. But he is kind and won’t only go for looks. He is a rare exception. He is a good christian. I need someone like my brother if marrying chinese.

your right.but also a lot ugly educated girls try to get better lucks.because white men have ugly preference.
i only date white boys have good taste.once i knew a man i was quite interested in him,but after i saw his ex photo, dump directly.because i do not have problems dating locals,so i do not care.

          • Zappa Frank

haha…. so they have good taste because date you? It’s funny to see that despite you do not understand white men at all, still you want to judge them…

          • Repatriated

“because white men have ugly preference”

HAHA. explains why he asked you out then?

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

            bubble milk tea now?

          • Claude

Wow there you go again. These “rubbish” you are so concerned about are just young men trying to figure out who they are. 20 something is young, let them have a good tim and learn something about themselves.

There’s been plenty of “Rubush” or Human Beings as I like to call them coming over from the Fujian province on old boats after they pay the real Rubbish A SNAKE-HEAD to come to Canada. We don’t toss them out and process them as refugees. Some stay and find opportunity in Canada and we’re a better place for it because as a nation we have the maturity to give these people a chance to see what people can offer our/their society.

The province of British Columbia recently tried a leader of the Shui Fong Triad family who was gaming the immigration system here not to mention breaking laws. We triad him at the taxpayers expense costing a million or so because again, that what a mature society does. He’s given the opportunity to legally represent himself. Then, found him guilty and sent him back to China. But… now get this, his family members get to stay. I mean WTF? And your complaining about some white kids having a few giggles in China?

why do not you ask your gov,how much they have gotten from chinese run away officials???and rich chinese…

          • Claude

I know right? We take in your Rubbish. No one is more disappointed than me. For every wealthy Chinese with a dubious backgrounds in British Columbia there are 40.000 hard working Chinese earning an honest day’s salary.

          • Zappa Frank

to tell the truth in west is full also of your trash, talent are not so many. but f you want take back all chinese in west giving us back our trash would be hardly a good thing forChina

i do not wanna deal with you.
i dislike Italian.do not write to me.

          • Zappa Frank

you know? i don’t give a fuck about what you like.. i write to anyone i want. You’re just another cheap chinese girl.

          • Angie Mac

Am I the only one that clicked on Italian.do expecting a webpage?

          • mr.wiener

Cheaters are found in many societies in a variety of colors and hues. Usually the easiest way to identify a cheating and trash kind of person is is when you here them say “This other color person is cheating trash”.

men also look for rich women,it’s the same.invest money to chase a rich girl is worthy for them.
and normally people think women from rich places are more demanding even though maybe some are from slum.
sure, girls from middle class families, they are the group can marry good men.it’s all about money, when it comes to marriage.i do not believe love any more.
do you know how many guys i meet first time then ask my salary,my degree,my family…and some even tried to figure out if i can get house or something else from my parents because i have brother…

          • linette lee

I believe you. Not only men in Chinese society. Men from western countries also prefer women with good jobs and high degree. Most people don’t won’t to marry just to get into financial difficulty. In USA the number one cause of divorce is financial disputes between the married couple.
In HK there are plenty of poor people. The thing is that no one will starve or unable to go to public schools. They all have access to school. People living in big cities tend to be more materialistic because they are surrounded with materialistic things so they are more demanding for materialistic things.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

Your photo is very delectable again, giving eattot a run for her money I see. I agree that like will marry like. Birds of a feather, flock together?

          • linette lee

Birds of a feather, flock together?………….

            exactly.

Thank you for your compliment. :)

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

You are welcome, a lot of confidence to show ones real photo on here. The saying means only educated will marry educated. Just curious on, any chance of a job (non teaching) in HK?

and some women, their husbands dumped them just because they lost jobs.
            so,for me,if a man always want a woman to work,i never consider.

          • linette lee

hahaha….you are smart. You will be a strong mother for your child. I know. Because you think about the worst situation. It’s good like that. You will do all you have to do to make sure your child get financial support to be raised properly. To have a good happy protected childhood.
Some women don’t think like that. They don’t think about financial security until it’s too late. Now they are divorced and fighting for child support living in financial ruin trying to raise the child on her own. The child suffers the most.

after my experience,i really wanna write a book: get snobbish!
someone wrote a book named 装逼指南,i think my book will have a chance too….

          • linette lee

Why don’t you write a book about your experience being married to a non chinese men living in China. China is different than western world. Like your daily activities and things you do. Raising a mixed child who is bi cultural in China. Cultural differences conflicts….etc. I am sure many prejudice and compromise. I think many chinese and non chinese would be curious.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

China is different than western world

She could explain in what ways perhaps?

          • linette lee

Inside China they are still very close up with the idea of interracial marriages and mixed children. They are getting better now with more and more non Chinese working inside, and if there are more biography covering interracial marriages and mixed children living inside China, the Chinese will be more accepting for Chinese to marry to nonchinese. Just like USA. And her book is coming from the point of view of a chinese woman.

          • Peter Wilton Cushing

True, but as long as white….I think it will take a long time before africans, and even african americans, will become acceptable. Not being racist, simply stating fact.

i think it’s difficult for chinese to accept black people.quite some black in guangzhou prisons.

            no no no no!
chinese dislike women married white.let alone it’s too personal…
i do not wanna write personl things.no good.
now i am trying to write a novel of girls after university their lives in cities.also their mind changing steps, this and that.will have small part of this.
i try not to be too real, because i really met some strange girls in shanghai, they give me very bad impression.no matter how cruel life is,still should be positive.

          • linette lee

Chinese dislike women married to non chinese because they don’t understand. It would be an educational book for them too. For the non chinese too. The book talk about life as interracial couple and being mixed kid living inside China.
You mean you want to write sex and the city.

  • he looks quite happy for a Mr Lonely. With that happy face, I doubt he is trying to hide his broken heart, because his heart was never broken. Ah…. its art of war all over again, isnt it? Genius. Simply genius.
