@高考直通车: Recently on Weibo, there is a crazy topic #Hot Mom Competition# where a bunch of ’94, ’95, ’96 moms have joined the competition upon hearing of it. Look at the pictures, and despair! 拜拜! Do you have any hot moms of the same age beside you? 吃惊

Well, now I understand what it mean to be open, I can even give my little kid a french kiss!

    • mr.wiener

That ain’t no french kiss, you’ve been doing it wrong!!

      • mwanafa

Or perhaps, you don’t know how it starts. One question though, do you kiss your kids on the mouth?

        • Markoff

yes, it’s pretty common in Europe and middle east
only some religious fanatics from US have problems with this

          • mwanafa

I am from Europe, and it’s not common where I live, I am not saying that nobody does it, and I am not judging whether it’s right or wrong, I just can’t do it.

          • Guest

well I’m from Europe and it’s common in my country. Not everyone does it, it depends on the family, but no one would think anything of it

“Getting into relationships that early, just what are people thinking these days?” Tip: you can be in a relationship without having a kid

Think of it this way: When their kids are 18 their, the mothers are finally mature.

  • nqk123

    divorce is not far away

    • ElectricTurtle

This is not America. Divorce rates for all ages are lower in China.

      • nqk123

Chinese women are still very dependent (financially) on their men. when more opportunities for women come. Do you think that they will put up with their cheating husband?

        • ElectricTurtle

Keep waiting, it might happen someday, meanwhile, I live in the present real life.

          • nqk123

already starting to see it. also 2% vs 3.6% aren’t much different

          • ElectricTurtle

Almost double = not much different to you, huh? Also there are fewer marriages in the US and more divorces within that population, so if you move away from rate (which is purely volumetric) to percentage the rate is more than double. Learn2statistics.

          • nqk123

let see: 1.3 billion *2% and 300million *3.6%. oh my god i am so dumb, you are absolutely right. thank you so much. you are so smart.

          • ElectricTurtle

Oh, brilliant, large numbers are bigger than small numbers hurrrr durrrr…

So, by your idiot logic, if a big nation of a billion people has 10 million murders (1%), that’s much worse than a small nation of 10 million people having 5 million murders (50%). You’d much rather live in the place that has fewer murders as an absolute number, even though it’s absurdly more likely to happen to you in terms of probability.

I’m in a moderately charitable mood, so I’ll try to break this down just a little further so maybe you can get it. China has more people than the US. China also has more marriages per capita (a higher percentage of the population is married) than the US. Of the total pool of marriages in China, the current percentage that fail is 22%, whereas in the US the current percentage that fail is 53%. So, while in absolute numbers the divorces are numerous, relative to both the population as a whole and the total number of marriages, any given marriage in China is statistically less than half as likely to fail as in the US. This is a fact. Accept it and move on with your life.

          • nqk123

you are right, you so smart. taken all that time calculate and write. here you go A+

          • Zappa Frank

but is rising fast.. and as said above is often used a sort of silent divorce where husband and wife do a separate life. not talking about sexless marriage

      • Repatriated

And suffering so as to not lose face by admitting you divorced someone you hate is at an all time high…..

      • Teacher in China

They may be lower in China than other places, but it’s hard to deny that it’s getting more common in China than it ever has been. Part of the problem comes from people getting married too damn early and finding out in their mid-20s that they want something else.

      • filabusta

The sexless rate is much higher though.

      • Zappa Frank

yes Chinese definitely can bear more than a western couples.. the result is usually a shitty life that no one would live… but at least no divorce.

        • Germandude

That’s too generalizing. I am not kidding you when telling you the story of a Chinese friend who was angry that his wife was playing Mahjongg with 2 other women and 1 man on a friday and the guy got super upset. Divorce was on monday morning. A matter of minutes.

          • Zappa Frank

            :O was it strip-mahjongg?

          • Robert

Too generalizing? Yet you bring up a story about a friend of yours to refute Zappa’s comment?

            Zappa: humans breathe air
Germandude: Thats too generalizing. I have a human friend that stopped breathing air ever since he let one rip. True story. Also this means that not all humans need/require air breathing, in fact, it means MOST humans do not require air!

  • FYIADragoon

Well I’m happy to see that they’ve picked up another lovely aspect of American culture. Can’t wait for them to start spawning future Tea Party/Occupy Wall Street drones.

    • ElectricTurtle

Chinese people have traditionally married young and had kids young. If anything, delaying parenthood was something picked up from West during the last century, and regardless, these cases profiled here are nothing more than high visibility exceptions. The trends overall are stable.

      • nqk123

we know, that y your nation have an over-population problem

        • ElectricTurtle

What is my nation? And nobody has a population problem. Fertility rates have been dropping on every continent for decades. Dozens of nations have rates below replacement, and most have seen whole number reductions.

          • nqk123

nobody has a population problem, really?

          • ElectricTurtle

Did you pay any attention to the facts of what I just said? Have you looked at any credible fertility rate data and trends for the last fifty years? Stop believing trumped up hype from the media. The truth doesn’t get ratings.

  • Stefan Xu

Although there are some teenager moms in China the general consensus is that the vast majority of the girls (and also guys) stay virgin until marriage. I’m not trolling, I’m serious. My post-90s Chinese girlfriend told me that and said that most girls share the same viewpoint.

    • nqk123

This kinds of denial/generalizing are why people bashes on China/Chinese. do you think that they go around telling everybody that they’re not a virgin anymore? or do you think they want people calling them a slut?

    • Repatriated

“Although there are some teenager moms in China the general consensus is

Probably because she didn’t want to have sex with YOU…..haha

      • Stefan Xu

She still me girlfriend. If she didn’t like me she would have dumped me…

        • Repatriated

Just go ahead and keep telling yourself that, and you “might” be OK.

          • Stefan Xu

So this the first you’ve heard about girls not wanting premarital sex?

          • Repatriated

LOL. Are you so naive? Premarital sex should be REQUIRED. What if you marry a virgin and you suck in bed? She’ll be finding a replacement while you’re paying the internet bill that connects her to QQ (and your replacement). Sex is an important part of a good marriage…and really should be tested before caving in to your parents constant worries/demands…

          • Stefan Xu

She says a girl must respect her body. I respect her decision. It’s not a big deal for me, personally sex isn’t that important.

She’s virgin so she doesn’t know how “good” sex is anyway. However I’m not a virgin and I’m quite ok in bed. Better than most Chinese men at least.

She is very humble and isn’t the typical high demanding Chinese girl. She’s from the countryside so her views are quite traditional. In the old days even in the west premarital sex was uncommon yet it still worked.

I didn’t understand your last sentence.
            parents?
“and really should be tested before caving in to your parents constant worries/demands”

          • Repatriated

I have yet to meet a Chinese girl/woman that doesn’t claim to be “traditional”…so your attempted point is mute.

YOU are the one claiming to have had sex 20 times and have yet to ejaculate (in a previous post) during intercourse…and think you’re cool for that. You never even took a moment to consider what your partner thought about that. He/She was probably wondering what was wrong with them being that you couldn’t orgasm.

At any rate, I’m done with this conversation. It’s about as stimulating as having a chat with a rock might be, and no matter what is said, you still have this “carved in stone” opinion.

          • nqk123

hey stefan, how come you never thanked us. $50 cent a post aren’t bad right. my chit chat with you worth at least $6-7.

          • Stefan Xu

            I thank you then ;)

          • One for all

Introduce her to someone (preferably Chinese) with a big house, flashy car and a salary 10X yours…..Then leave them together for half a day.

Let’s see how long her virginity holds on for :D

          • mr.wiener

            I wouldn’t buy a car without a test drive.

        • nqk123

she waiting for someone better. In other words you’re not good enough

        • FYIADragoon

I wouldn’t respond to the ESL trolls, my friend. They’re just being 屌丝 as usual.

    • Guang Xiang

She must be one hell of a researcher to be able to form such a consensus with a population as huge as China. That’s ignoring the fallacy that most girls won’t admit to premarital sex just to maintain a sense of traditional purity.

But let’s be honest, I probably slept with more Chinese girls than the amount of girls that she has shared her viewpoint with.

      • Stefan Xu

It’s mainly her village and town friends.

        • David

I imagine rural girls are probably closer to this than girls in the city. As they get to a city they have more opportunity and also more people trying to take advantage of them. Of course many girls (in almost every country) see sex as an indicator of maturity and sometimes like to act on it to show they are grown.

      • Gordon Gogodancer

God knows there are a lot of guys here who like their girls…mmmmm nice and pure yum yum~ (urgh!)

  • moeimoei

man, this blog just makes me insecure…

These are some hotties! .. and when they are all sad cos daddy is out playin’ in a KTV, we can rescue them from their solitude and give them some well deserved luv… 90’s mom’s are the best !

  • Cameron

Have kid early to satisfy grandparents. Then hand kid off to grandparents while husband and wife work asses off to pay for kid they hardly ever see and mortgage for apartment they didn’t buy, and a little gratitude money for mummy and daddy. Meanwhile grandparents expect eternal gratitude and continue to treat them like kids as, after all, they’ve had kids before and you’re clearly not doing it right and they put the money down for your apartment (which might have your name on the contract but rest assured they’ll come and live with you to take care of your kid). Still all is fair, in twenty years time you’ll get to do the same to your kids.
    The Chinese Dream!

    • Germandude

Kudos Cameron! Only thing missing in your story is the timeframe between 30-40 when they finally figured that they didn’t marry out of love and start wondering what they missed in life.
Guys go to KTVs, Girls go shopping to express independance.

Sorry, I don’t understand Chinese culture.

    • Nicola Collina

You cannot say better. need add that they start (both) go deep in alcholic/xiajioe or duck.
these pictures are nothing strange in the ordinary chinese life… the “big bang” of chinese society will be in next 20/30 years then all this couples that, raised in a modern world, follow the countryside style will be 50 and theyr sons 25.
To be on topic: last week one of these ladies add me on my MomO and start bother me in chinese (even she knows my chinese is good for simple discussions…). And she told me she had baby at 18 and she’s regretting it…… so why she contacted a foreigner in his 35?? who knows…. (i stopped to feed the conversations anyway. in 6 years in China i’ve tried all the possible experiences and i am aware from what is dangerous and nonsense..)

      • Wangandbang

I have no idea what you just said…

        • Nicola Collina

my meaning is that is not strange in chinese society be pregnant in early ages…In a modern society is uncommon, but China is still moving following countryside rules and people are not really aware abou the problem of one early pregnancy.. Moreover there is not any kind of sexual education so this is the result.

In such modern society they soon be overtaken by the enviroment and will start, if they have money, behave like all the couple married too earlky: ktv (for men and woman= xiaojie for man and “ducks” for the women), alcholism, etc…

Maybe in countryside they would have been a farmer life for 50 years……… 4 or 5 children and so on…’
Let see the the full side of the glass: in 16/18 years this will happen

Did you read the last comment from
    郭乐哈:
    If I didn’t abort my baby, I’d also be a ’97 mommy now (cry)(cry)(cry)

it’s like she is regretting aborting her baby not for the sake of the baby’s life but because she couldn’t post photos and be in the young mommy club.

I wonder how many of those “young moms” know how to raise a kid? it’s a child not a pet dog.

I am the one that gave you the thumbs down. Race has nothing to do with this but why are you introducing your kids in a forum you hardly post to? I just think it’s irresponsible to be posting pictures of your kids, especially on an internet forum.

      • Tony Heaney

I post here every day I have a ghost name. But its my decision on one elses.

        • Cauffiel

Hahaha… you have a ghost name to protect your identity, but you plaster your kids photos for everyone to see? You are just all sorts of brilliant!

          • Tony Heaney

oh just dry up Cauffiel, by the way just out of interest why have you chosen to use Cauffiel as a user name (snigers) really dude Cauffiel??? i assume you know what i am referring to.

No, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Cauffiel is my last name.

          • Cauffiel

Oh, come on…. theres hardly anything more narcissistic than posting photos of your kids for strangers to look at…. the ONLY reason anybody would do this is to fish for compliments. What do you need attention for so badly?

          • Tony Heaney

thats all in need to know thanks

        • KamikaziPilot

A “ghost name”? What the hell is a ghost name? You mean an alias?

          • Tony Heaney

Hi KamikaziPilot nice to meet you, and yes you have it correct. regarding my pics i couldn’t resist putting them up. perhaps i was too proud who knows but the other “comment” was some what unnessaerry and crowdly (not frm you) any way happy xmas to you and all here

          • KamikaziPilot

I still don’t get why you post under a ghost name and then show your kids pics. Unless you say some pretty nasty things on this website that makes others dislike you. But I’m sure you have your reasons. Happy XMAS and New years to you too. Hope 2014 is better than 2013 for everyone.

          • Tony Heaney

No nothing like that kami, same to you take care

    • Cauffiel

Pretty creepy to post photos of your young kids on a public forum. What’s wrong with you? And why are people encouraging you?

Oh, now I see your moronic comment about the fake moon landing. Back to the crazy house with you, boy.

    • Wayne

cute babies . How i wish i could have pigeon pair like yours !.
As to say the genes , i have to say people always like what they don’t have , isn’t it ? But ,academically , babies from distant genes are much more likely to be smart than those who don’t .

      • Zappa Frank

I really would like to see an academic study to confirm it. I frankly have some doubts it’s true, but even if that’s the case how can you say it is due to genes and not due to multicultural environment? Africans and Europeans are genetically more distant than Europeans and Chinese, but Afro-American aren’t usually smarter than others Americans.

        • Wayne

well , great point ! the factor to decide one’s intelligence is never to be single , gene is just one of them . Just like you said , environment is another point that can not be ignored , but what if you think about the influences that the environment has on the Africa-Americans .Could it be negative ? So many Africa-Americans don’t have such nice living places as other Americans’ ,right? Is it possible to decrease the advantages from their genes?

In the end , the academic saying of the distant-gene advantages is called Heterosis

          • Zappa Frank

i’m not sure the heterosis thesis is correct, but in case afro-americans may not show better potential than average americans because they don’t live in a multicultural environment like it may happen in the case of Tony’s children. On the other side it may be true that they show a better athletic potential…

most of these girls look like they went to korea to visit doctor kim before taking these pics

Young girls holding babies like pet cats, older people holding babies like rice bags. It’s all making sense.

    haha, that’s not nice

How exactly did Fauna butcher it? And “for views”? You mean Fauna translated something that was popular on the Chinese internet in accordance with the stated mission of the site?

    • 二奶头发

I’m guessing 郭乐哈 may have posted twice. once that wasn’t shared to her weibo page (Fauna posted on chinasmack and translated) and once that she did share (the one 老外 discovered) when you post on weibo you do have the option of having the comment come up on your weibo page or not. and since there are over 2000 comments in the young mommy post it’s not worth going through all of them to find it. as for the (chinese) post on her page it’s about the same translation as the one on this site except it’s not the cry smilies but the 哼哼(groan, snort, humph)。 I think it means what I first posted that she’s not in the mommy club.

      • Kai

Dammit, had I read your reply immediately after reading 老外’s reply and before responding to him…

Thanks for your comment. You are correct about 郭乐哈 posting twice. I assumed she deleted the first one but it would also make sense if she simply didn’t share the comment to her own profile page (she didn’t checkmark the 同时转发到我的微博 checkbox).

I’m a bit charitable and with her second comment and discussion with another netizen, I’m willing to believe she didn’t intend to suggest she was sad she’s not in the young mommy club, only that she had aborted a baby.

  • KamikaziPilot

Strong Asian genes? Who said that? Chinese nationalists, haha? I haven’t noticed these strong Asian genes at all. In fact, I’ve noticed black seems to be strongest, with white and Asian about the same. My brother in law has a Chinese father and white mother and looks pure white with not even a hint of Asian. I’ve never seen someone mixed 50/50 look totally like one race like him.

    • Cauffiel

I think it just means a lot of East Asians have dominant genes (which produce features such as dark hair and eyes), while Europeans have a lot of recessive genes (which produce things like blonde hair and blue eyes).

      8th grade science.

      • Tony Heaney

They have my wife’s eye colour and hair

        • Free Man

Chinese people say that my son looks white like me, westerners keep saying he looks asian like his mother. It’s a point-of-view-thing.

      • KamikaziPilot

Well I remember learning about dominant and recessive genes but I never remember learning Asians have more dominant genes than other races. Ehhh, I just don’t think Asian mixed kids are more or less asian looking than the race they’re mixed with. At least from what I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot of mixed kids (probably more than the average American) in my lifetime.

        • Cauffiel

Well, genes don’t only produce things you can see…. they are also responsible for behavior, talent, personality, etc.

And the world is full of dominant genes…. partly why outside of Western Europe, pretty much everyone in the world has black hair and dark eyes. But Europeans are not just repositories for recessive genes…. they still have dominant genes, so its possible and not even unlikely that those genes will be expressed no matter who they are making babies with.

          • KamikaziPilot

Fair enough Sean. BTW is extremely curly hair (like Africans) dominant or recessive. I wish I had that kind of hair, then I can walk around all day with a comb stuck in my hair. Always wanted a fro.

    • Guest

Chinese people say that my son looks white like me, westerners keep saying he looks asian like his mother. It’s a point-of-view-thingy.

I’ll agree with that. After all it’s not like there’s an official way to measure if a child looks more like the mom or dad.

  • Boris_Da_Bengal_Tiger

I guess they just haven’t enjoyed it with you. Ba-dum-tish!

By my definition? What definition? You think MILF refers to a woman old enough to be MY mother? I just thought MILF refered to Mother I’d Like to Fuck

  • Zappa Frank

sincerely usually Asian-European I’ve see so far are more like Europeans than Asians. I would avoid to talk about someone”strong genes”, we just look at the phenotype and only in the visible part.

  • Kai

I see what you mean now.

Fauna copied and pasted this from the comment on the Weibo post cited: http://e.weibo.com/1750067330/AnqcWF8RZ

    宝宝没打我也是97 年的麻麻了 [泪][泪][泪][泪]

What you see on that netizen’s own home profile is this: http://weibo.com/3906192094/Anzx3xIyX

    如果宝宝还在。我也是97 年的麻麻了[哼][哼][哼][哼]

You believe Fauna “butchered” the netizen’s comment. I believe the netizen merely deleted her original comment and posted a similar but slightly different one. See attached screenshot.

Notice the netizen’s comment that Fauna copied and translated is timestamped 17:09. Notice the timestamp of the comment on the netizen’s own profile is timestamped 17:10. They are two different comments.

Based on what I know of how Fauna copies and pastes the original Chinese comments before translating them, and how she replicates the emoticons when they are present by copying the img src HTML from the original source before substituting a local copy of the actual image asset, I’m confident Fauna accurately translated what she saw and I’ve confirmed it by finding the original comment in the comment section/stream of the cited Weibo post (again, see attached screenshot — currently, it is on page 298 of the 1400+ pages of comments for that Weibo post).

If that’s cleared up, I disagree with your interpretation of the netizen’s comment. She is not “looking down on the other mothers”. The 17:09 comment with the crying (泪emotion) could suggest she’s sad about not being a young ’97 mother. The 17:10 comment with the hmph (哼) emoticon could suggest she’s angry/upset/disgruntled about not being a young ’97 mother. Neither says she’s looking down on the other mothers.

This is further confirmed by the comments on the 17:10 post. A netizen (珍惜三四七) asks her “why” and she responds:

    郭乐哈:回复@珍惜三四七:宝宝被打了 [泪][泪][泪]

Notice the same tear emoticons. Her 17:09 comment says if she “hadn’t aborted her baby” while her 17:10 comment is less scandalous by saying “if my baby were still here” but when someone asked her “why” her baby was no longer here, she answered “because it was aborted” plus more tears.

This would suggest she’s sad about aborting the baby, which is pretty normal. Going “hmph!” about how she could’ve been an even younger mom than those shown in the original post could be a sort of dark joke. As for why her original 17:09 post is no longer on her home profile, the most likely reason is because she deleted it. Why? Perhaps because she thought it reflected poorly on her? That she explicitly said she aborted a baby and it was in the context of how she could’ve been a young mom? Maybe she, like many of us, felt the tear emoticons would make her comment sound like she was sad about not being a young mom when she may have only intended to express sadness about having aborted a baby?

Whatever it is, Fauna didn’t butcher her comment and accurately reproduced and translated what she had seen, as I hope I’ve demonstrated here. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings.

This is a great example of once you post something on the internet you really have no control of it even if you think you deleted it. It could be copied and reposted.
