On Sina Weibo:
United States local time February 19, the body of the 21-year-old ethnic Chinese girl Elisa Lam, who has been missing for three weeks, was found in a water tank on the roof of the Los Angeles Cecil Hotel she was staying at. According to reports, guests at the hotel had complained about low water pressure, and hotel staff found the body when they went up to check. Previously, United States police had released a hotel surveillance video clip where she exhibited frighteningly strange in the elevator during her stay at the Los Angeles hotel. This strange case sparked widespread discussion among netizens, including rumors of the hotel involved being connected to the unsolved 20th century “Black Dahlia” case.
Comments on Sina Weibo:
The hotel patrons who drank Elisa Lam’s body-water [water that Elisa Lam's body had been in] talked about their feelings on CNN. One woman said, “It had a very funny, sweety, disgusting taste. It’s a very strange taste. I can barely describe it.” A man said, “I’ve been here a couple days, been using the water to brush teeth and take showers. I feel so disgusted now…” http://t.cn/zY9jkjc #Hoping the truth comes out soon, RIP#
The hotel where ethnic Chinese Elisa Lam was murdered had previously been the scene of a story that shocked the world, called “The Black Dahlia”. I’ve put together the entire story introducing the case in a long weibo post. This yet-to-be-solved murder case is full of spookiness.
#Dark History# The hotel where Chinese-Canadian girl Elisa Lam died happens to be the same place where the unsolved mutilation murder, Black Dahlia, occurred. Could it be that the murderer is still living in the hotel? I can’t help but think there are a lot of stories behind this…
Elisa Lam’s body has been found. This has reminded me of the Chinese girl who had disappeared from the Viking Lines ferry a few years ago, mostly likely having been thrown overboard into the ocean by some North European maniac. Dead without a body recovered, one of that girl’s parents also soon died from sadness. Females, don’t do these kind of things like traveling alone anymore. And there was even an older single lady who wrote something like, “I slept alone on the road in some place, on my own experiencing the end of the sky in Tibet.” Really, this isn’t niubi at all, other than showing that you’re completely careless/irresponsible.
Speaking of the murder of Elisa Lam, I think what’s more horrifying than the elevator is that she had been in the water tank for 20 days before being discovered, and meanwhile, the whole hotel was using the body-water from there. In normal city residential buildings, the water pressure is not high enough to get to anything above six stories requiring a second water supply, which is to say using a water pump to pump the tap water up to a rooftop tank to supply water for residents to use. The cleaning and inspection of this water tank is very important. In neighborhoods with poor management, water tanks may not have human bodies, but it would be usual to find dead mice or birds.
Someone said Lam’s movements [in the elevator video] looked like she was rowing/paddling through water, and then she was found dead in a water tank. Σ(-`Д´-ﾉ；)ﾉ
In Lam’s case, the autopsy will be key. Apart from the inspection of the scene, just whether Lam drowning or died from other reasons will directly determine the nature the case. Determining whether she had drowned while she was alive or died and was dumped in the water is not difficult, so I think there will be an answer soon.
In 1947 when actress Elizabeth Short’s body was sliced in half, she had appeared at this hotel before she died. In 1962, a woman jumped off the hotel and crushed to death a pedestrian. In 1964 Pigeon Lady Osgood was raped and murdered in a room there. In 1985 “Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez checked in for a couple of months, and killed 14 people during his stay. In 1991 Viennese murderer Jack Unterweger checked in for five weeks and killed multiple prostitutes… This hotel is called the Cecil Hotel. After Elisa Lam left behind a weird video, her body was found in this hotel’s rooftop water tank.
Just finished reading about Elisa Lam and the Black Dahlia, wanted to go to sleep, put down my mobile phone, then suddenly… a female voice came out of nowhere … Fuck!!! Turns out I had accidentally activated Siri. I was so scared!!! TAT
I absolutely must not tempt fate and go watch the Elisa Lam video, otherwise I might as well forget about riding elevators for the next two days! Also, how do I find out if my building has water tanks? Water tanks really are too unsafe. Anything could be found in there!
