United States local time February 19, the body of the 21-year-old ethnic Chinese girl Elisa Lam, who has been missing for three weeks, was found in a water tank on the roof of the Los Angeles Cecil Hotel she was staying at. According to reports, guests at the hotel had complained about low water pressure, and hotel staff found the body when they went up to check. Previously, United States police had released a hotel surveillance video clip where she exhibited frighteningly strange in the elevator during her stay at the Los Angeles hotel. This strange case sparked widespread discussion among netizens, including rumors of the hotel involved being connected to the unsolved 20th century “Black Dahlia” case.

Comments on Sina Weibo:

八卦_我实在是太CJ了:

The hotel patrons who drank Elisa Lam’s body-water [water that Elisa Lam’s body had been in] talked about their feelings on CNN. One woman said, “It had a very funny, sweety, disgusting taste. It’s a very strange taste. I can barely describe it.” A man said, “I’ve been here a couple days, been using the water to brush teeth and take showers. I feel so disgusted now…” http://t.cn/zY9jkjc #Hoping the truth comes out soon, RIP#

张洲:

The hotel where ethnic Chinese Elisa Lam was murdered had previously been the scene of a story that shocked the world, called “The Black Dahlia”. I’ve put together the entire story introducing the case in a long weibo post. This yet-to-be-solved murder case is full of spookiness.

LilMonsta熬夜怪兽:

#Dark History# The hotel where Chinese-Canadian girl Elisa Lam died happens to be the same place where the unsolved mutilation murder, Black Dahlia, occurred. Could it be that the murderer is still living in the hotel? I can’t help but think there are a lot of stories behind this…

aiwillruyi:

Elisa Lam’s body has been found. This has reminded me of the Chinese girl who had disappeared from the Viking Lines ferry a few years ago, mostly likely having been thrown overboard into the ocean by some North European maniac. Dead without a body recovered, one of that girl’s parents also soon died from sadness. Females, don’t do these kind of things like traveling alone anymore. And there was even an older single lady who wrote something like, “I slept alone on the road in some place, on my own experiencing the end of the sky in Tibet.” Really, this isn’t niubi at all, other than showing that you’re completely careless/irresponsible.

饭卡的微博:

Speaking of the murder of Elisa Lam, I think what’s more horrifying than the elevator is that she had been in the water tank for 20 days before being discovered, and meanwhile, the whole hotel was using the body-water from there. In normal city residential buildings, the water pressure is not high enough to get to anything above six stories requiring a second water supply, which is to say using a water pump to pump the tap water up to a rooftop tank to supply water for residents to use. The cleaning and inspection of this water tank is very important. In neighborhoods with poor management, water tanks may not have human bodies, but it would be usual to find dead mice or birds.

反受为攻的阿下:

Someone said Lam’s movements [in the elevator video] looked like she was rowing/paddling through water, and then she was found dead in a water tank.  Σ(-`Д´-ノ;)ノ

法医秦明:

In Lam’s case, the autopsy will be key. Apart from the inspection of the scene, just whether Lam drowning or died from other reasons will directly determine the nature the case. Determining whether she had drowned while she was alive or died and was dumped in the water is not difficult, so I think there will be an answer soon.

燕子的领域:

In 1947 when actress Elizabeth Short’s body was sliced in half, she had appeared at this hotel before she died. In 1962, a woman jumped off the hotel and crushed to death a pedestrian. In 1964 Pigeon Lady Osgood was raped and murdered in a room there. In 1985 “Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez checked in for a couple of months, and killed 14 people during his stay. In 1991 Viennese murderer Jack Unterweger checked in for five weeks and killed multiple prostitutes… This hotel is called the Cecil Hotel. After Elisa Lam left behind a weird video, her body was found in this hotel’s rooftop water tank.

hmy111111:

Just finished reading about Elisa Lam and the Black Dahlia, wanted to go to sleep, put down my mobile phone, then suddenly… a female voice came out of nowhere … Fuck!!! Turns out I had accidentally activated Siri. I was so scared!!! TAT

Lil朵要瘦成一道闪电:

I absolutely must not tempt fate and go watch the Elisa Lam video, otherwise I might as well forget about riding elevators for the next two days! Also, how do I find out if my building has water tanks? Water tanks really are too unsafe. Anything could be found in there!

Looks like it would be hard to get in the tanks. If she was murdered before hand the killer must have a bitch of time getting her in there. Unless she went in on her own free will…..who knows…

Why would someone get into one of those tanks of their own free will? Unless trying to hide from someone who meant her harm? Ridiculous, the LAPD are playing the ‘fucked if we know, fucked if we care’ card. Shame. I always had a better opinion of US law enforcement… Just goes to show – never trust tv shows. LAPD are spineless and useless.

Do you really think that the Chinese police would be any better ?
The Chinese police would probably state that she committed suicide and they would never investigate anything.

Have you ever known Chinese police to do anything ?

      • Alex

LOL like that girl that was found in a river, dead, trauma, feet tied, hands tied in the back, and mouth covered.

Chinese police said it was suicide and stopped investigating.

        • BiggJ

Yeah I think there was girl in china who was stabbed like over 10 times and police said it was suicide. lol

Mustave been stabbed by party member then.

          • Ralphrepo

Yes, it was “suicide” for her to have rebuffed a party member’s advances, LOL…

There was an anti-corruption official in wuhan who had the same thing happen to him. defensive wounds on his hands and everything. suicide.

Chinese police is worthless, I’ve had my motorbike, my laptop and a cellphone stolen, during all three occasions I reported to the police…guess what, they never helped, they make you spend a lot of time at the station making you write lots of useless reports, all this just to fool you into thinking that they might actually do something. But I’ve notice that they are very effective when a foreigner is the perpetrator. This is some bull!!

        • Kate

That’s how I feel about korean police. Once my friends were walking down a street, both are white, dressed in blue jeans and t shirts and tennis shoes and some korean cops stopped them and started interrogating them and then insinuating that they were foreign prostitutes (despite that they are both american and were dressed super casual) all the while Korean girls are walking by with 6 inch heels and their ass cheeks hanging out. Yup picking on the foreigner is a past time hobby in some places.

          • quake

            must have been gay cops

          • Hongwu Emperor

Or both were wanting to date foreigners and they were keeping appearances ie; trying to look tough and professional.

        • V

          Exactly, they are never helpful.

        • http://twitter.com/Famsert Matt Harding

In what country would police do something a stolen cellphone or laptop lmao. Motorbike…maybe? Some people on here have been in China too long that they’ve forgotten what it’s like home I think…

          • pimpinbear

you are right Matt. Comparing it to an international lever of justice, in western countries it wouldn’t be much different. Maybe the procedure would be faster and the table you write the report would be cleaner, but the result would most likely be the same. The only benefit i see, is that in western countries you dont really file a report to get you shit back, you do it cause you need a copy for the insurance company to get your money back, or to use the system and file even more then what was actually stolen, so you can actually turn a bad event into a win.

        • pimpinbear

why did you go to the police when something was stolen from you? The chances that they will catch the one who did it are veeeery small. I think that in china it very much depends on who you are and the way you cooperate with the authorities. Having said that, the mistake you did was that you just appeared and expected them to work. They didnt get their jobs (well most of them) cause they are qualified, its like with most other official jobs in china, a person gets them cause they have a relative or know someone, or paid someone money to get an easy job and position, and to be a policemen in china is quite easy, there is not much to do, since their policies are to keep the number of cases down, so it appears that the criminal rate in china is bellow average. They anyway just report the “solved” cases….but back to my point, the fault is up to you. In china you just dont walk in somewhere, anywhere and ask people to do something for you.

Its like my old philosphy i developed in 3rd world countries, and that is that either you put something in their pockets or they are afraid that you have the power to take something out. If you want to get shit done in such countries, you better develop a thicker skin and find a way to have the power and ability to do at least one of these things. Better both, to enlarge your chances of success in general and to keep personal disappointment at the very low.

Sadly, in my 7 years in china, I was more then once at a police station. 3 times i knocked someone out, one of them being an employee (and it was fucking worth it BTW), and each time i get away with it…

        • Washington Bullets

I feel like most police are ineffective when it comes to theft, at least in America you can go check the pawn shops to see if anyone has sold your stuff :/

      • bob

Yes man you are right, they will surely close the case no further investigation.

There is absolutely nothing that you can say to prove that Chinese society or culture is better.

Every Chinese argument that Chinese society is better can be very easily disproved.

The Chinese have “5000 years of history”, yet China is “still developing”.
Why ? Why does China need more than 5000 years to develop into a modern society ?

      • V

lol u r just funny. U can judge one’s government but u DON’T GET TO JUDGE ANYONE’S CULTURE.

        • BiggJ

          Sure you can.

Sure if you have no respect; I guess you are used to it.

        • Jahar

          why doesn’t he?

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

Because culture is just like religion, it is something that you get get to judge, the world would be hell if no one learns how to respect other’s culture.

          • Nick in Beijing

Some cultures are simply inferior to others. That is an unfortunate fact.

If the culture advocates people living in adverse conditions, fosters no respect for other people (notice I said people, not culture), and leads to no social development for the majority of society, then it is an inferior culture.

Go ahead and attach to your replies whatever significance you think you can read into my post. It is very straightforward. Chinese culture is inferior because:

            1. What people practice today is only a bastardization of their past culture, and their past culture for a long long time only excelled at hurting the people who obeyed it. So when people call themselves traditional it is only a cruel joke on themselves. If women in this country knew what it meant to be a woman in traditional China, they would never willingly attach that title to themselves, except for those few who enjoy the idea of being a rightless sex slave whose only value in life was the ability to be a sperm receptacle and pop out sons (not daughters… daughters suck, and only serve to be sold later on and treated as house servants).

            2. It leads people to extremes of selfishness and indifference to their fellow man. One can argue that these are only traits of human nature, but culture and civilization are meant to inhibit the baser parts of human nature. Chinese culture does not accomplish this goal. In fact it encourages people to act on their baser impulses with little thought to consequences for other people. Why else would we see many of the behaviors that are considered “uncivilized” (even by Asian standards, not only Western standards) here? China will not rule the world, because humanity moved on from this style of society long ago and could not accept being forced under those old shackles yet again.

            3. It is fostering a generation of extremely spoiled children who will soon enough be the leaders of China. Given the conditions of Chinese culture coupled with the behavior of extremely spoiled children in general such as lashing out when they don’t get what they want, a variety of mental issues, physical issues such as obesity (which is on the rise in China), among many others, we are going to have a China lead by rageoholic self entitled war-mongers. You can say that describes the U.S., but the U.S. is at least a multicultural society that, in the last 100 years of leadership (especially after world-war 2) has helped to usher in an age of unprecedented development of standards of living and all things that are associated with that. China MAY HAVE had a similar period long ago in it’s history, but when all you have to compare yourself to is shit, it is easy to claim that title. China developed long ago when human civilization was still in it’s infancy, so anything better than picking bugs off one another in grass huts was an improvement.

            4. China is a tinderbox fueled by victimhood. Where did this notion of victimhood come from? Why the culture of course! Nothing is ever anyone’s fault, always someone else’s fault. With no one taking responsibility for something going wrong at any level of society it has led to what we currently see. A society which is dysfunctional at best, riotouss on average, and unimaginable at worst.

The list could go on and on, and I’m sure for the majority of people who read this, you probably thought “hey, you forgot the part about….”, but I’m sure I’ve made my point. Some people will disagree and that is fine (especially those Chinese who view Western critiques of China as attacks on their precious mainland and then go into nationalist-rage-mode). However my point still stands. China cannot go on as it has.

None of this is to say that other cultures don’t have bad points, nor is it to say that Chinese culture has no good points. It is to say however that Chinese culture as a whole is a backwards and primitive thing that was suitable back in a time when China was a loose collection of tiny villages and small cities and groups were very small and generally closely knit, but as a modern nation now it has outgrown the quaint, antiquated and highly bastardized garbage that people are trying to force to stay alive with (made in China) life support. All of that belongs in story books and text books in history class. None of it has a place in modern society.

Those of you (such as hongwu empress) who state how superior China’s old culture is to modern life can go back to your disease riddled, war mongering, infant murdering, mud drying, animal (and human) sacrificing, wind-fearing, ghost appeasing, outsider-dreading, progress opposing, book-hating, neighbor-shunning, ignorance-worshiping ways by building a replica village out in the woods somewhere (make sure not to use any modern materials though. Only mud, shit, and sticks may suffice) and form a collective with the all the others who are hindering societal development with your backwards thinking.

Just remember one thing: Don’t spend so much time looking back that you can’t see the cliff you’re about to walk off of.

By the way. R.I.P. you poor girl, condolences to her family, and I still don’t understand why this story got so much attention.

          • Hongwu Emperor

            Nick,

What about meaningless modern society and stupid consumerism?? heh? yeah, though that! no one knows how to end it for good. if you have the great cultural Dao, teach the world then.

And the ‘spoiled children’ stuff is a result from MODERN society, not traditional neither ancient cultural. its a rotten leftover from Deng’s one child policy AND china’s conversion to the capitalist cult.

Well, culturally speaking, in the good days the ‘ideal’ was to have 8 [ba = prosperity] sons. LOL.

And this shitty stuff about rising standards is the plainly f-cked [modern] westernized notion that the resources are infinite and humanity can eat, consume and act like disgusting pigs that the Earth will recover itself.

And what the hell is that stuff of ‘backwards’ and primitive? to hell with modern culture!! BURN IT TO THE GROUND!! and from the ashes. the ancient stuff shall rise up as a beautiful phoenix, worthy of a poem!

And long live the ‘tiny villages’ and ‘small villages’ you so speak of!!! and the great ‘small groups closelly knit’ also!!! that was surely interesting, not like the modern societal structure.

And Chinese culture [ancient] is far superior to ANY modern culture, no matter what you say. And YES, I’d very proud if the sons and daughters of Huangdi were worshipping the ancestors and spirits, and fearing the wind [its better to respect it than be a sick bastard that wont believe in nothing], and etc etc OK??

          • Nick in Beijing

I knew you’d be the first to reply. I will give you a proper response later on.
In the meantime anyone else care to chime in?

          • Nick in Beijing

I thought about replying to you, hongwu empress, but then i realized that I don’t like talking to trolls. Meh.

          • Jahar

we can think whatever we want. and everyone does judge religion. the caring about it is when you run into trouble.

      • V

And also, most of the 5000 years were in ancient times, there was no technology and there were tons of things that people haven’t discovered, and of course like numerous countries in the world, there were wars. And you know, it is very difficult to make things go well when there are plenty of countries being noisy and judge whatever you do, even if they don’t know anything about what it really is and god knows what their decisions would be if they were in the same situation. So stop pretending what you say are ‘The Truth’ and u r the judge of the whole universe.

      • Chang Liu

5000 years of history is a lie anyway. It is more like 4000 years. And for a significant part of that 4000yrs China was a more advanced civilization. It is clearly not true for the last few hundred years. I guess some people prefer to live in the past quite literally.

        • Hongwu Emperor

I would basically. and please dont get me started with that ‘modern days are better’ because of this or that.

Gimme the Ming, Qin/Han, Tang dynasty any of these days. heck, even early Qing is more badass than modernity.

          • MonkeyMouth

            you’re damn right

          • mr.wiener

What about women’s underware? from which period would you choose that? The Tang dynasty was not exactly Victoria’s Secret.

          • Hongwu Emperor

            So what?? hehe…
They should wear underwear like the one that existed since the Warring states era (about that period) which somewhat resembles a japanese ‘sarashi’. [a piece of cloth that did dozens of turns around the person].

          • Jahar

You mean the romanticized versions from tv and storybooks, right?

          • BiggJ

HAHAHA. My wife watched that bullshit and says the same thing. I keep telling her it not real, but she thinks that how it was back then.

          • Jahar

the good ol’ days, when we used to dump chamber pots out of the top window into the streets…

          • Hongwu Emperor

At least she had the glory to see a real [or romanticized] deal about China which not involves modernity.

And c’mon, modernity is also absurdely romanticized and when we wake up for the reality, the world is in massive deep shit and lack of water, resources, etc.

          • Hongwu Emperor

No, I’m talking about badass real life, although novels/tv/etc offers some nice entertainment.

And one way or another the past is better than that modern shit that only leads to consume-freaks, rampant pollution, shitty education [only study on science and nothing on morality, etc] and not giving a shit to the proper old ways.

          • Jahar

the past wasnt so pretty as it looks on tv and in books. yeah it was badass. but it was filthy, everyone was poor, and you died much more easily.

          • the ace of books

To be fair, the Tang Dynasty was more badass than a lot of dynasties.

Also, you want a badass dynasty? Yuan Dynasty, holy shit yeah.

          • Hongwu Emperor

Well, you are right. And the Tang surely were awesome.
The most important thing is to keep the ancient-ness [that’s a brand-new term] alive heh ;D

          • the ace of books

Yes :D Tang’s my hands-down favorite: huge empire, multiculturalism, Silk Road awesomes, you name it. Though I’ve definitely got this love for Zheng He’s massive ships, and for the Yuan Dynasty’s massive ability to FUCK THINGS UP. (If only Ghengis Khan’s progeny hadn’t been useless as all fuck… although I guess the man is kind of a hard act to follow.)

Han … well, it’s okay. I like what came after it better (ie Three Kingdoms and all associated Historical Lolz).

          • Hongwu Emperor

Tang was awesosme because of the military expansion, kick-ass armor and silk road heh. back then true cities existed, and Chang’an was awesome ^_^.

The Ming was cool also, there was Zheng He, Qi jiguang [anti-piracy operation] and the culture was basically on a apex of some sorts [shanshui paintings, cool porcelain, etc etc]

          • Chang Liu

Thats right early Qing, you pick your periods rather selectively. Why not late Qing, or any late periods in any dynasties? Go on, indulge me.

        • http://www.facebook.com/gordon.gogodancer Gordon Gogodancer

People here do need “5000 years” of history to cover up all the shit going on here

          • Chang Liu

Well for most people it has been better than ever considering what went on for 2 centuries starting with the Taiping Rebellion which killed a quater of the population, famine, civil war, colonisation, invasions, masacres, mass-movements that ended in mass-graves. The kind of shit you are talking about really is slim-picking bud.

        • pimpinbear

thousands of years of history doesn’t really mean that there was a thousands years of civilization at the same time….a nation can have a 10 thousand years history and it really wouldn’t really matter cause it was in a time which wasn’t significant from an industrial, technology, research and development perspective….while it wasn’t a big deal stepping behind other nations even hundreds of years, when it was thousands of years ago; its definitely a big deal and huge disadvantage when you step behind 10 years now a days. To get to the same level with the top countries would REQUIRE that those countries just do nothing for the next decades and you at the same time do everything better, faster and more advanced…very unlikely to happen….fact is that the ones with the slowest starts and uncivilized people in history, are now the ones which lead the world and show how it can be done in a better way.

Guess it has something to do with learning from mistakes. All the time trying to save face and acting delusional, unreasonable, unpractical and irrational doesn’t really help to speed up the process towards a society of civilized people and system. But i think that isn’t really the intention anyway when it comes to china. Fact is that they get the leaders and governmental system they deserve. While i wold like to implement democracy everywhere, it would be insane to even think about it in china with its people. Its not the leaders which suck in my opinion, cause the leaders can just suck when the people and society sucks big time, or where do people think their leaders come from? They come from chinese families, chinese schools, chinese society, and chinese education and value system.

The ones which always complain about their corrupt leaders are just the ones which are pissed that they are not in the position to receive some envelopes with money…

          • Chang Liu

Thank you for you generous input. So basically what you are saying is there is NO hope for China to be better because everything sucks? Why are you bothering talking about it?

          • Hongwu Emperor

It’s the usual troll, just call a country some names and he can feel better ¬¬’

          • pimpinbear

well, let me put it this way to avoid a lengthy reply….I am glad you mentioned hope, cause in my opinion its the impotency of the faithful. What china and chinese people in particular need is CREATIVITY !!! And a positive one on top of that ! We know that creativity comes from TRUST, it combines VISION, STRATEGY and COURAGE.

See in fact china has all that potential, and they also execute this virtues, BUT the people do it in such a negative and self destructing way that it hurts them in the long run. Having said that, I believe that people should give up hope, cause its the pre requirement to think outside the box.

A wise man has once said, that hope is the worst of all evils, for it prolongs the torments of man….

I am just talking about my own 7 year china experience, working, living and socializing with chinese people.

          • Chang Liu

So you are saying China and Chinese people don’t have VISION, STRATEGY and COURAGE, making the TRUST that is the spring of CREATIVITY? Creativity coming from TRUST??? WTF?
7 years? Did you spent it teaching english?

Chinese should be proud of their ancestor land because of their ancestors, spirits, traditions, rites, culture, etc and to honor our lands, in the past and in the future.

Not because ‘this’ or ‘that’ country managed to invent a fuc**d up system which consists in scrapping nature in name of ‘progress’, I would debase China lol ¬¬ besides, a lot of messed up stuff is due to modernity, pollution, etc.

And when the shit TRULY hits the fan, and this system collapses; everyone will be bragging why ‘we didnt follow the ways of Yao and Shun’ or ‘why we polluted so much, bla bla’.

        • SuperHappyCow

YOU CAN’T LITERALLY LIVE IN THE PAST IDIOT

      • Hongwu Emperor

And China is not ‘still developing’ lol. its just developing to a western lifestyle, which requires a totally different system than the badassery of the old days.

And we gotta bring back the Ba Gu imperial exams really, instead of modern-styled exams and gaokao!

      • orion

Not saying that China is better in any way, but I would have hoped the other foreigners here would have brushed up on history. People seem to forget European imperialism and world war II. You know things like having their culture destroyed by outsiders both by the introduction of wars and opium. That’s why Chinese people cling onto their culture so hard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:China_imperialism_cartoon.jpg

        • donkeykong

Mao did more to destroy China’s culture than did any outside forces.

          • BiggJ

Again, this is just chinese blaming outsiders for their own problems.

          • Jahar

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

The outsiders are the ones who criticize what the Chinese do and never give any helpful advices.

Most of the stuff we say is common sense. When you see a stop sign or a red light,….stop….When you have to shit…find a toilet…and the list goes on and on…

          • mr.wiener

Apparently it’s not good when outsiders tell you footbinding is f*cked , have preferencial treatment for people who convert to their weird arsed religion and bring you coca cola.
One of your own people pissing 5000 years of civilization up against the wall in one decade of madness, starvation and weird arsed industrial programs is just dandy however.

          • pimpinbear

as a side note, i personally dont like women with big feet (larger then 39-40 turns me off), nothing is more ugly then a women with big feet.

BUT it never understood their historical obsession with having girls and women with baby feet…breaking babies foot bones and ankles, cracking them and putting them into shaped in sealed shoes so they cant grow bigger, and using them as a mental aphrodisiacum so male perverts could get a hard on, is strange indeed…

          • mr.wiener

But think of the money you could save if you could borrow each others shoes.

Real history is a true recording of events, free of prejudice and opinions.
Not an opportunity to cherry-pick to prove your own pre-conceptions.

          • pimpinbear

i disagree with that. You say real history…what is “real” ? Histories vary, depending on who is telling the story and from which angle or point if view you are looking at it. When you say “real”, then “real” by which standards ? That in itself pre require prejudice and a personal opinion. Isn’t that the reason news and tv suck now a days, cause people prefer to listen to an agenda and personal opinion of a reporter or what fits the policies of their government ? I for one just like to be informed and have the freedom to form my own opinion.

True record of events?? Damn, nearly all small countries fucked them over, thats a fact…..and there are just a few reasons why that was even possible….call it prejudice if you like, but ask yourself the question, when would be the moment you would start to run? Would you wait for a couple of event records to happen still hoping that your chinese neighbor will reach out to you with his helping hand, or would you use common sense and see things how they REALLY are!? Yeah, I guessed so…:-), damn, I would even bet that you would run faster then me to save your ass…

This is why you shouldn’t smoke crack and type.

and why some of the small euro countries (tiiiiny small compared to the size and population of china) were able to cause so much trouble and oppress a country which was so much bigger then theirs ??? Let me tell you that when something like this is possible, then just cause something is wrong with this country and people in the first place ! I have no doubt whats or ever that most of the chinese, then and even now, would have no problem to become traitors and collaborate with the enemy or an enemy within, when there is the slightest chance that they can make a dime with it or benefit from it in general. My 7 years in china taught me that chinese people dont give a shit about other chinese people, and the fact that they treat each other like shit, should be taken into account how they would treat each other in a serious life or health threatening situation ? I know that I wouldn’t want to be here, when they decide to suddenly implement democracy ! That is the moment i will run for my life…

      • Jahar

That is the best story I have ever heard.

      • http://twitter.com/Famsert Matt Harding

Yeah because if you’re high and little chinese girl, it’s easy to break into a locked rooftop with an alarm and then climb a massive water tank.

        • pimpinbear

who said that she broke into the rooftop ?

and even if, does an alarm rooftop make it more secure not to break in ? she wasn’t a burglar BTW….

and what is a “little chinese girl” by your standards? You make it sound like she was an 8 year old….

and do you want to say that drugged or mentally insane people are not capable of climbing a few steps on an ladder into a massive water tank ?

ever tried to put around 60kg weight on your shoulder and climb with it on a ladder all the way up? how to hold the weight at the same time and use your hands holding yourself? seems that this sounds more plausible to you ?!

          • http://twitter.com/Famsert Matt Harding

Many reports have noted the rooftop door was locked and was armed with an alarm. Just google any article about it. If it had an alarm, presumably the security guard or concierge would check the alarm to see who broke in.

By little, I mean short. There’s pictures of her with her family. They look short. You can see pictures of firefighters next to the water tank and it towers over them even. The firefighters didn’t have a ladder so I wonder how she got one. And yes, I don’t think drugged people are capable of breaking into a rooftop that is locked and alarmed, finding a ladder somewhere, then somehow getting the lid off a massive water tank with their bare hands.

If it was a two man job, it’s certainly plausible. Certainly more plausible than the scenario above.

            Here’s a good picture; http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1297378992500_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=650x&stmp=1361335188631

    • Chang Liu

She appears to be mentally ill to me.

    • Ralphrepo

“Why would someone get into one of those tanks of their own free will?”

Well, there’s fear (which you mentioned); coercion or duress, or sheer juvenile idiocy. Then there’s psychosis (which may or may not be drug induced), and then there’s suicidal intent. Of course, we cannot discount employment duty, ie. as performed by the staff member who went into the tank to service it only to discover a body. Maybe the hotel hired her and after she was accidentally locked into the tank and died, they’re now disavowing all knowledge of her? Investigation requires an open mind to explore all possibilities. We cannot just assume that she was hiding from someone (real or imagined) without compelling supporting evidence.

      • MonkeyMouth

She was probably thinking in her messed up state that she could get into her apartment via the water pipes?

In either case its not harmful since she is already dead, but its great to see how others think…what would the world be without assuming ? Thats right, not much different then without assuming! I would even argue that assuming throughout history is what helped people to develop and even saved lots of lives. Not that I really care either way, but the only way i can see harm in it, is when the person who assumed wrong tends to ignore that he/she was wrong.

This guy is fucked in the head. He also says this:

“Singer argues that sexual activities between humans and animals that
result in harm to the animal should remain illegal, but that “sex with
animals does not always involve cruelty” and that “mutually satisfying
activities” of a sexual nature may sometimes occur between humans and
animals, and that writer Otto Soyka would condone such activities.[45] This position is countered by fellow philosopher Tom Regan, who writes that the same argument could be used to justify having sex with children. If you French kiss
your dog and he or she thinks it’s great, is it wrong? We believe all
exploitation and abuse is wrong. If it isn’t exploitation and abuse,

How can you say “the Chinese people do not care” Do you know all 1.3 billion of them? Or any of them, for that matter?

        • CheungWaiKeung

Me as a foreigner living in china since 14 years, I can safely state that more than the median of chinese people “do not care”.

          Remember,
too, that China is a communist regime. It is a country where all
religion has been outlawed and the people are never taught ethics or
morality. They have no moral compass. Across China, the majority of the
population believes that the best way to get ahead is to cheat, lie and
steal, even if it means harming someone else in the process.

Remember: China is the country where they put melanine in infant formula in order to make an
extra five cents a pound, even while killing babies by the thousands.
THEY DON’T CARE. China is the country where
the paint on children’s toys contains obscene levels of brain-damaging
lead. China is a nation of shortcut-takers who will do anything
to cheapen a product as long as they can cover it up and trick the
          buyer.

In the chinese people world, there is nothing like humanity, kindness etc. it’s about the Louis Vuitton Bag that has to be bought to show off to the cheaters, liars and murderers.

          • CheungWaiKeungs

to add to the last sentence:
… it’s about the LV bag that has to be bought in order to show off to the other cheaters, liars and murderers that you are a more sophisticated cheater, liar and murderer than the other cheaters, liers and murderers. And guess what, everybody is well aware that riches in China only come from cheating, lying and murdering. They got it set as an example day by day by the government officials, which cheat on, lie and murder their citizens they should be responsible for in order to enrich themselfs as you read this here. China is an outright Kleptocracy and they don’t even bother to hide it.

          • http://profiles.google.com/gabriel.corsetti gabriele corsetti

The typical rant from the Westerner who’s been too long in China. Most Chinese do have a moral compass, believe it or not. Religion has not been outlawed for over thirty years now, and anyway one doesn’t have to have a religion to understand morality, as the millions of Europeans who don’t have any religion and get along fine demonstrate. Chinese children are taught about ethics and morality in school, it is the economic system and the lack of legal safeguards which allow cheaters to get ahead and force others to behave unethically too.

          • stvgl

Neither me or anyone close to me have any religious affiliation. We’re not horrible people by most standards. Didn’t know we were morally bankrupt until you mentioned it :(

          • DavidisDawei

The one that boils my blood is when I meet a Chinese person who believes it is OK to intentionally kill someone after you injure them to avoid paying their medical expenses.

A female colleague told me the story of a Chinese man who stabbed a person he hit with his car 40 times to make sure they were dead because he didn’t want his family burdened by the unknown exposure an injured person would bring.

She insisted this man did the right thing under the circumstances. I am very glad I had this conversation with her because I will not work with them again. Sadly, She is Not the first Chinese to disagree with me over this.

          • ZSRenn

@ CheungWaiKeung you say “It is a country where all religion has been outlawed” You’ve lived here 14 years and you have never seen one Buddhist temple or one church. What are you blind?

you say “China is the country where they put melanine (sic) in infant formula” but fail to disclose that those found guilty were given the death sentence.

you say “the cheaters, liars and murderers.” If you feel that strongly about the place, why have you stayed for fourteen years? Time to go home, I think!.

Quick question; With testing for sex illegal in China and all doctors employed by the government. How do people know the sex of the child so they can dispose of the girls?

        • donkeykong

          They bribe the doctors.

          • ZSRenn

Sure they do and then the Doctors bribe the pathologists and they get away with this millions of times without running into one CCP member who would quickly turn them in! Think about what you are saying and stop insulting the Chinese people. It would also help make foreign commentators look less stupid if comments like yours were stopped.

          • donkeykong

Wow, have you ever been to China ?

Anyone with any time in China knows that bribes are very common here.

So, how do you account for the FACT that there are about 40 million more boys than girls in China ? How did that happen ?

“According to Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters for the New York Times, violence against women is causing gender imbalances in many developing countries.[44] These authors report that more girls have been killed in the last 50 years, just because they were girls, than the number of males who were killed in all the wars of the 20th century. They detail sex-selective infanticide in the developing world, particularly in China, India and Pakistan”

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_imbalance#Gender_imbalance

          • ZSRenn

From the book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, two Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters for the New York Times,

“Countries such as China have prospered precisely because they emancipated women and brought them into the formal economy.”

This sounds more like an endorsement of China from these two authors to me.

Women gained seats at the first meeting of the CCP back in 1949 and still hold places today one of the most famous of these women is Wu Yi a tiny but powerful women who was vice premier of China she was China’s chief trade negotiator, and named three times to Forbes’ most powerful women in the world list, when the going got tough, all the top men of China would send Wu to do the dirty work. She’s powerful because she is incorruptible, she has stood by her principles, and she has a great sense of humor and even greater sense of humility.

I have lived in China for 6 years and am still learning.

          • donkeykong

Ok, how do you explain the FACT that there are 40 million more boys than girls in China ?

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_women_of_Asia

          • ZSRenn

OK lets put in perspective and wiki is no place to be using as a reference on this issue but I will use your figures. 40,000,000 people when you are talking about China is a difference of 2.9%. Australia has a similar difference but in favor of females. It is just with our small population that number is much smaller.

Next when it comes to the over 60 age bracket China has very similar male to female ratio. Where women in the west tend to outlive the males; the same is not true for China. Women work in dangerous professions alongside the men and suffer similar rates of attrition.

Next I think you do not understand how the one child policy works. If a family other than government employees want a second child they can but the child must be registered for a fee. Minority groups living in their own lands can have as many children as they wish.
If a government worker and spouse are single children they can have two children.

No, that’s not how it works. You have to draw the line somewhere obviously, and the moment of birth seems like a good point. Human beings should not be killed (not even after they’ve commited murder. People who oppose abortion but favour the death penalty have serious issue by the way), but it’s ridicolous to claim that a foetus with no awareness of its own existence should be given the same rights as a person. Of course you could claim 10 month old babies have little awareness of their own existence too, but like I said, you have to draw the line somewhere.

          • Hongwu Emperor

So its a ‘serious’ issue to want the execution of alleged criminals, specially those of ‘high-tier’ [extreme corruption, rapists, serial killers, etc] and at the same time protect the lifes of innocents?? [by avoiding abortion and other measures that kill a life, a innocent one]??

        • http://profiles.google.com/gabriel.corsetti gabriele corsetti

it’s not that widespread. Selective abortions are more usual nowadays.

    • BiggJ

Well that is because she is Canadian. Canadian’s are of a higher stature then chinese.

      • Hongwu Emperor

And you say that basing it upon… ??

        • BiggJ

          Everything.

          • Hongwu Emperor

            where are the sources?

          • BiggJ

The 3 million chinese Canadians living in Canada.

          • Hongwu Emperor

3 million out of 1 billion and [almost] 500m. LOL that surely is a good way to laying down the math…

Besides, living in one place compared to another means nothing to me, if one [or both] countries dont live up to the expectations of worshipping the ancestors and keeping traditions alive. =]

          • BiggJ

There is no comparison between china and Canada.Canada wins hands down. In both country and people. It’s not even a close race. You could compare china with say….Pakistan or Iran or even North Korea. Well china is a bit better the north Korea. And it’s not just my opinion, pretty much the whole world thinks the same…..well except people from china…and even then some people from china think the same.

          • MonkeyMouth

india has 10000 years of history..so lets compare them

          • YourSupremeCommander

Canada’s claim to fame is merely because its the 52nd state of the US, right after Mexico. And also more boring than pretty much everything I can think of.

          • BiggJ

Well even being the 52nd state of the US, Canada still beats out the whole country of China.

          • Hongwu Emperor

Howare you so certain of that?

            oh and…
Last time I checked, cool things like the Great Wall and the Tiantan [temple of heaven] are in China, not Canada

          • BiggJ

You can have all the coolest structures/buildings in world…but if your government/people/human rights suck…you loose major points for that…It’s like buying chinese electronics….it looks great from the outside…but when you bring it home and use it and give you electrical shocks and breaks after 10 minutes…you realize you just have a nice looking lop of shit.

          • Hongwu Emperor

The problem is, China dont ‘suck’ for any of those reasons, or at least other nations are not exception.
Unfortunately thngs are not that awesome as we are in the bloody 21st century, not the Han dynasty, for example.
but even so its the land of Yan and Huang! and that counts more than any other stuff.

          • MonkeyMouth

you are a brainwashed, chest-thumping american douche

          • mr.wiener

You’ll have to speak up, the Canadians are not able to hear what you are saying over the noise of their freedom.

          • http://twitter.com/n1hmrd n1hmrd

BriggJ ten years ago i would of agreed with you because your statement would of been correct but,it is not correct today, big changes have happened in china and continue(Beijing looks more n more like a scene out of Blade Runner these days) to happen, yes there are places in china that are still like you say but there is 100% other places that are as modern n even surpassing what we see in the west,China is a big BIG place, just like it is wrong to say ppl in New York have it same as certain places down south,or ppl in Italy having it the same as ppl in Norway,or in china ppl living in Hong Kong with ppl living in the desert of Mongolia ,its just not how it works,n not a fair gauge, well your right sort of right about one thing tho,the whole world thinks it but, lot of the world is waking up and realizing its not the case anymore, and they are watching very Very carefully,Ps oh and about last year Toronto came in number 5 in the best places to live ,this year Hong Kong came in number 1 ,but saying that i always believe the best place to live is what fit yourself best, what i would like would not be the same as what you would like.

          • Hongwu Emperor

I agree with you. and yes, the best place is where you feel the best, not some stupid survey or magazine try to force us believe.

          • BiggJ

I love Honk Kong, But you can’t compare that with any mainland city. They are 2 complete different levels. Hong Kong is pretty much it’s own mini country. Same as Macau and Taiwan. You can’t add them to the China pile.I agree that you should live where it best suits you. And if living in an overpopulated, super polluted totalitarian place suits you….then so be it.

          • Hongwu Emperor

The important thing is to worship the ancestors, respect the ancients, live the old ways, do things according to the Rites, etc etc.

          • meo fio

Hong Kong is china’s toilet, more similar a 3rd world country like Philippines. The people there are like the stereotypical chinks you see in western media.

          • BiggJ

Honk Kong beats out any mainland city anyday, The problem with Hong Kong is it’s land mass is too small. Other then that, great place.

          • DavidisDawei

Curious to know…What do people think is so great about Hong Kong?
I’ve only been there 4 times, but find it way too crowded and overpriced for what you get.

          • Hongwu Emperor

I avoiding comparisons because things get offensive very quickly but like I said, the Great wall is not on Canada so… China ftw!

          • MonkeyMouth

did this victim share her bath salts with you or something???

          • Hongwu Emperor

What the… and what does salt has to do it. I though we’re talking about emigration, not a commodity [salt]!!!

          • MonkeyMouth

bath salts is that new drug that’s turning folks into face-eating zombies

          • mr.wiener

Apparently the miami face eating zombie was not on bath salts

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

Actually, the people who actually have a great life in China would never bother to immigrate, why would they wanna suffer in a country that they don’t know anyone and don’t even speak the same language? The super rich ones never left. I have seen many people that couldn’t find jobs in China moved to other countries for living.

            http://www.businessinsider.com/why-chinas-super-rich-are-leaving-2012-12

          • Dr Sun

and the rest will leave as soon as the housing bubble is looking to burst, leaving china with no govnt, no money and a lot of crap infrastructure.

          • DavidisDawei

Hey Dr Sun, The Bubble most Chinese I know believe will never come. I have told those I consider to be friends that I would not buy property in China right now, but they have done so anyways…they say they know better and who knows , maybe they are right and I am wrong, but when the price of property is beyond what most people can afford, I don’t see how it can be sustained.

          • meo fio

emigrate to US? that’s like Jumping from the frying pan into the fire. And in the US they will have no personal connection to help them. When i traveled to china last year, several people told me Chinese stock market is dysfunctional because it doesn’t always go up like in the US.

          • http://twitter.com/n1hmrd n1hmrd

also from what i have seen of the super rich ,they live everywhere.,a house here a house there,

          • Hongwu Emperor

            This.
Those truly rich people nowadays have houses and states everywhere [almost] so, its pretty feasible a chinese super rich lives in Dubai, with a house in HK, another in china, japan, germany, etc etc

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

            true too.

      • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

        Disgusting.

    • orion

There’s nothing really saying that there aren’t Chinese people that care about female infanticide. Judging from you tone and wording it seems like you’re just chalking this attitude simply to China’s own antiquated ways. However, the reasons for female infanticide is more complicated than that and partially due to western imperialism’s role in China’s painful past.

      • BiggJ

You’re fucked. Western imperialism is why you abort girls now…..What’s next??? Westerners fault you have small dicks or air pollution and shit and piss anywhere you please…..If not westerners then its Japan’s fault right? Wow….unfuckingbelievable.

        • MonkeyMouth

it is partially the West’s fault for pollution…..haha… but cant wrap my head around why its our fault for the shame-for-daughters thing….

          • BiggJ

China does not have any pollution laws and they do nothing to trap the pollutants from industry. Added to that the millions who are using coal
as a primary heat source as well as the fact that China as a whole gets
85% of their electricity from burning coal and you basically have one
huge environmental disaster. That is their fault…we don’t force them to do that. Oh and plus all the fucking cars.
Then you are right, If shit starts costing more because of pollution standard, then we will find someone else to make all the cheap ass dog shit that comes from china. So I guess is kind of our fault.

          • MonkeyMouth

            trust me, i aint justifiying

          • El Puma R.

Not “The West”.. globalization. And we’re all to blame for it. As for selective abortion… China you’re on your own.

        • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

How about fuck U? I know that there are many things that the chinese government are doing wrong, but when you become rude, saying things like”small dick” and stuff, how do you make yourself sound more reasonable than others? and shit and piss anywhere? Have you ever been to China? Or you are just saying things that you heard from other ignorant people? Probably the ones who educated you? Every country teaches their citizens about the rest of the world differently for political reasons, asshole.

          • donkeykong

I am in China now, and I have witnessed Chinese people pissing and shitting in the streets.

“Parents Allow Child to Defecate in Plane Aisle”
            http://news.echinacities.com/detail/66057-Netizens-React-to-Badly-Behaved-Chinese-Travelers-During-Spring-Festival-Rush

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

There are people doing that, but not the ones that were well educated.

          • BiggJ

You don’t need to go to school to know not to let your kid shit on airplane. But I do understand to a point. I’ve been to the poor chinese country side and the only way to explain how they live is to go back to 300 year in the past say in Canada or US. If you cut the power to some of these villages they would not even know. Nothing wrong with that. I would at least find out some basic rules about flying on a plane before i went one.

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

There are people shitting on airplanes?! That I haven’t heard of…jeez…

          • BiggJ

Where do you live in china that you don’t see people pissing and shitting on the street every time you leave the house? If not on the street then it’s in a grocery store, train , or bus. And the small dick thing well I should not tease about that, there is nothing you can do about that. I’m making the point that chinese blame other for their own problems. The comment I responded to was the guy blames westerners for the abortions of baby girls…..Just man up and don’t blame other people for your problems is the point i’m making

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

I agree with you about what you said on the blaming others on it’s own problems. The selective abortions of baby girls thing is extremely retarded and it’s not anyone else’s fault. But I think China is only ‘blaming’ others when it comes to the problem that it is still ‘developing’.

          • Hongwu Emperor

This works for yourself also. By the way I think chinese people go shit at YOUR house floor or lawn DAILY, because it seems you’re obsessed with people ‘shitting and pissing on the street’ so…

          • BiggJ

It’s not that im against shitting and pissing outside….I just don’t want to see it. Just be a bit more discrete about it. Instead of taking a shit in front of the KFC, go around back. I’m guilty of taking a piss infront of people in china too…but it’s usually between 2-5 A.M sunday morning, drunk as fuck. You’ll never catch me pissing 2 P.M in front of the china construction bank.

          • mr.wiener

Small dick remarks aside,[ I wouldn’t know, I’m not in the habit of looking at other men’s junk] I think we can agree the remark that started this tread:
“Female infanticide………partially due to western imperialism’s role in China’s painful past.”
would have to be one the most breathtakingly far-fetched pieces of tripe I have ever read on these pages .
            ….and I’ve read a lot.

          • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

Okay my bad, I didn’t see the ‘Female infanticide’ before the the second part of the sentence…that wasn’t fair to say.

      • bert

If it was male infanticide most of you brainwashed feminists wouldn’t raise a stink about it. You’d probably somehow find a justification for it.

      • mr.wiener

Pray tell how western imperialism had a role in China’s present attitude to female infanticide?
I’m waiting here with baited breath to hear this one [I think that means I’ve been eating sardines]
I’m also wondering if you keep your head up your arse for the warmth.

    • MonkeyMouth

cuz that stuff is old news and not reported in the media.

      • mr.wiener

Cuz a dead Canadian Chinese girl in LA is the exception rather than the rule.
Dead Chinese girls in China are unfortunately a dime a dozen.

        • Jahar

Andit also shows that it’s not safe for Chinese people to leave China, because we all hate them and want to kill them.

          • mr.wiener

As opposed to living in China where everyone hates everyone else and wants to kill them…..well, f*ck them over anyway.

    • elizabeth

They probably don’t care but simply curious, for new gossip fodder.

    • BobothePeng

don’t forget the 7 hong kong girls that got killed last year in Shenzhen and the 1 that got killed this month, going their to getting their nails done, getting robbed of their organs and dumped into the trash elevator. their families in hong kong unable to recover the body because seized of the mainland police, burned and never hear back about investigations etc.

      • don mario

this is the kind of thing chinese should be talking about.

        • disqus_Cn1CuSszMl

The thing is…no ones knows about it in China…

          • BobothePengs

the thing is: in china, especially shenzhen, everybody knows about this, and nobody talks about it. the organ trade mafia is so certainly working together with the corrupt local police, that it would be highly dangerous to voice your concerns as a mainland resident. you can check through the archive of appledaily, a hong kong newspaper. over the last years there should be a lot of articles about that. the puppet government in HK doesnt try to help the families that lost their children to the chinese organ mafia either.

it is so disturbing to realize that the citizen get harvested for their organs like chicken, unable to be protected by the state, cuz the organ trade is so profitable that it allow huge corrupting sums. when they get you, you are just fucked and nobody can do anything about it.

      • Mr Nightcat

Apologies if this sounds silly, but could you provide a link or two for news stories? I can’t seem to find any on the 7 HK girls.

      • Mark

Care to share more details on the 7 HK girls that got killed in Shenzhen? My relatives are planning to visit Shenzhen/Guangzhou a few months later and after hearing your news, I am very concerned!

        • BobothePenggs

as long as you are not from mainland china or hk it should be safe. the whole shabang is based on covering this shady business up. harvesting a foreigner would cause a lot of noise and the local government would have to arrest some poeple to make it look like they are doing their job, which would decrease the bribes and therefore they would make less money. thats how it is

          • ZSRenn

What a lot of rubbish and you of course know all about it. Yeh Sure you are either from Taiwan or a CIA hack spreading more BS about China

    • http://sinopathic.com/ terroir

So many people care because it gives them a chance to blame the other side for anything and everything. Everything brought up in these comments have little to do with a Canadian dying in the US under weird circumstances.

If topics were limited to the actual story, then it would just be a case of Chinese believing it was ghosts and Westerners believing it was drugs. But that was the last story, this story gives everyone on both sides to just blame blame blame.

      Because: China.

    • Sarah

This news got more media attention when tourists drank the contaminated hotel water. There was an article on CNN that focused more on the contaminated water than the Chinese girl.

    • pimpinbear

“dead body water “, that brings up the question of how racists some people are/could be given the “right circumstances”…lets go deep down in our minds and souls and imagine different circumstances and ask ourselves if “dead body water ” is equal to “dead body water “. Lets assume that you have different water tanks with different dead people inside. One with a black dude, one with a chinese, a white dude, and one with the dead body of Scarlett Johansson. And lets say you had to chose to shower with the water cause you were under gun point to make a decision. Which one would you chose ?

Are people really the same once they are dead ? I would argue no, racism goes far behind dead, its a mental thing. Let me be the first one admitting that i would chose the water with Scarlet inside, cause i am pretty much racist against all others together. Now if even a black or chinese dude would rather chose the water with the white one that wouldn’t be just racist it would be sick, wouldn’t it ? I would assume that most of the people men or women would prefer to bath with the water where a nice beautiful dead girl inside. But whats next? lets eliminate this possibility, which one would be the next “best choice” ??

I admit its a bit frivolous for a young man to shower from this kind of water, but after a year of hard work, its ok to indulge and splurge yourself. Its aromatic and perfect for meditation. I would recommend you to fill the water tub, make sure its warm, and light a few herbal candle (you can try Lavender, my favorite).

what exactly makes her a poor girl ?? fact is neither you not anyone else here knew her personally. Why the judging, she could have been a backstabbing bitch her whole life……when it exactly crossed your mind that she was poor and you felt some sort of sympathy for her ? right between “my ass hurt in this chair” and “what i will eat for lunch” ? She is fucking dead, she might have been a saint or a devil, who cares. And what is this RIP all about, every time someone dies people come up with this RIP, for people they don’t even know. Ever considered that most likely there is no place the dead can rest in peace? Or does it make you feel warm and fuzzy believing this shit ? If so, keep it up, cause the world would be a more dangerous place with guys suddenly loosing their irrational delusional beliefs !

Qian Liu: murdered in a basement while her bf watched from his webcam in China

Lin Jun: dismembered by Magnotta who then made a video “1 lunatic 1 ice pick” and uploaded it online

Why is everyone so obsessed with this paranormal/true crime/mystery shit? Hot fucking damn, people, have some common sense! A hotel’s a popular place to murder people because it’s a good place to get two people together in relative non-surveillance. So quit this Bermuda Triangle nonsense alfuckinready.

And speaking of surveillance, just watched the video, and y’know? I don’t think it matters whether Lam was on drugs or not – she looked fucking scared there, and like someone who was trying to figure out a way out of some situation. Maybe she was seeing someone, sure. Maybe she had gotten in over her head with someone and just recently, in the last twenty minutes, realized he was a total nutbag. Or something. Whatever. Anyway, I don’t think it’s fair to assume she was just high and jumped in a water tank – those things take a bit of effort to get a body into, you know?

    • pimpinbear

she looked fucking scared ? where exactly ? please point us in the right direction!

was it when she was playing with her hair or when she pulled of a trance dance outside the elevator ??

she looked pretty much calm in my opinion, not in a hurry at all not nervous…

you use a lot of maybes my friend, but at the end of your post you even say that:

” I don’t think it’s fair to assume she was just high and jumped in a water tank – those things take a bit of effort to get a body into, you know?”

WTF??? dude, since when is that a question of fairness ?? fair towards who? and why you can exclude that she was high, simply cause you believe that a person which is high can’t find the way into a water tank….I have seen people pull off much more difficult things when under drugs or in a certain mental state….

  • elizabeth

The police should be able to determine who the murder suspects are with CCTV footage. If not, then something spooky could be going on since the poor girl was behaving strangely before she died and the hotel has a dark colorful history.

    RIP Elisa.

    • Jahar

assuming it’s a homicide and assuming there is video surveillance everywhere.

  • zaphraud

She was obviously communicating with whoever was tampering with the elevator such that it would not go, probably by using an IR transmitter that either acted as a programmer or interfered with the “electronic eye” that prevents a door shutting on you.

  • Washington Bullets

Man, what a shitty hotel. Low water pressure due to dead bodies…. Not to make light of this at all, but I’m wondering if that has the potential to cause any health complications for those drinking from the taps.

This case has really had me confused, especially since it has been confirmed that is was her body. The video of her on the elevator had me really confused. In the beginning, it really does look like she could be hiding from someone, perhaps ducking into the elevator to get out of someone’s line of sight, but after some time her behavior appears much more erratic, and not in line with someone who would be hiding from someone. Maybe she’s on drugs, but that doesn’t explain how her body winds up in a water tank. you’d think that there would be other security measures in place to see who entered and left the building around the time of her disappearance. The only way I can see her winding up in the water tank of her own volition would be if she were on a LOT of LSD or some other potent hallucinogenic substance, and even then, I’d think that she wouldn’t be so irrational as to willingly jump into a sealed tank. This is quite the mysterious case indeed. It’s a shame the police have been so unhelpful. L.A. isn’t the safest place in the world, and I’m surprised she was travelling alone, but that doesn’t explain how or why she wound up like she did.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22624249 Sean Cauffiel

Its pretty easy to take too much LSD if you don’t know anything about it.

      • Washington Bullets

Very true. If that were the case, must have been a horrifying way to go.

  • PimpinBear

so many dumb comments always amaze me. Not surprised about the netizens ones, but about so may unreasonable “foreigners” comments…

forget about it and get to the case and some facts. I just now saw the video and a few things caught my attention:

    1. the elevator door opens and she went inside, and pretty calm if you ask me. Now, check the 5 second mark and her right hand movement, she goes wide behind in a circular motion, confident and acting cool, to point her finger to the buttons….

    2. she is clearly mental, acting cool in one moment and mental in the other, like she is playing a game….check around 34-36, I could bet that she is even smiling while she is “hiding” in the corner…

    3. look at the small “jump” at the 53 second mark ! and the straightening of her upper body at the 55 second mark…the step to the side at 57…and the step back at 59…that kind of “acting” was not done by her the first time. Thats childish behavior and not of a person who is scared..

    4. at 1:13 she is so calm that she even bind her hair again with both hands, even she has nothing (rubber band or something) to keep it together!..all the way until the 1:30
mark…thats full 17 seconds of playing with her hair in a corridor, where she is supposedly hunted by her killer ?

    5. check the 1:31 mark, where she enters the elevator again, holding herself with both hand to the sides of the elevator entrance, like she is off balance or something, but clearly calm as one can be…then again the senseless pushing if elevator buttons, clearly NOT in a hurry, just like a child or someone on drugs..

    6. at 1:57 it gets interesting, first she appears to try to touch something in the air, halicunation LSD style, then at 2:06 she starts to puling of a dance, at 2:12 she is all into it making the strange hand signs, most likely of a childs dance/song she learned in school when she was small…

    7. the water tanks, are about 2,5 meter in height i would guess. She is probably around 60kg in weight. It should be difficult even for a strong male to crawl with her on his shoulder over the tiny ladder and to throw her through the small door on top of the tank into it. While its possible, I found it just very unlikely.

She was definitely on a trip, mentally OR under the influence of drugs. Most doors which lead to the roof are just locked from the outside, from the inside there are simple emergency bars you push to open the door, to make exit easier and faster when an emergency situation occurs. Most likely she continued her trip right to the roof and thought about to have a look whats going on in one of the water tanks. Then couldn’t make it out again.

    • Roihu

I’m genuinely curious. How do you explain the open door?

      • pimpinbear

i think from all “mysteries” or better say things people somehow for whatever reason prefer to see as mysteries, the open elevator would be from my perspective the least mysterious :-))

damn, I lived in china for 7 years, I can’t count how many times the elevator in our luxury(even by western standards) building didn’t work, the door didn’t open, the door didn’t close, the elevator get stuck in between floors, and so on….I know that event happen in the US, but fact is that sometimes elevators just don’t work the way they should, maybe especially not when someone pushes so may buttons at once, and maybe even the one to stop the elevator or the door from closing. It could have a dozens of plausible reasons, and all would make more sense then to assume ghosts or other paranormal nonsense, or a conspiracy….i dont even think that the elevator door is important at all…

people pay more attention and ask themselves questions about a door, but don’t pay enough attention of the actions of the girl and how she behaved. Its kinda religious freaks which when a problem occurs immediately start to pray instead of doing something to solve the problem practically. One of the reasons the world sucks sometimes is cause a majority of irrational people get into the position to rule over the minority of rational ones…

      • MonkeyMouth

need a room card to make the elevator function

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22624249 Sean Cauffiel

I think there is a good chance you’re right about much of this. I started to type up a similar explanation, but whats the point of repeating. I can’t think of anything that matches this behavior more than shrooms or LSD.

But we only have so much evidence in such a video. I think its entirely possible she was murdered.

  • dfe666

Hmm…maybe she took a “trip” and decided to go swim. Much more psychotic things have happened on drugs. If she was on drugs anyway in the first place , but still…

  • jojomofo

well they’re chinks that’s why. besides insulting the Japanese, they tend to be very possessive about overseas Chinese even though there is not a shred of connection between them and the victim.

    Aint much to discuss now

  • Pissedorious

She apparently was being stalked by a hotel staff maintance worker or security. Hiding from that person/s in the video. Knowledgeble Stalker keen not to be caught on camera, stopped thier pursuit. Corridor video possibly missing. Now body turns up in an impossible location, but where only perp couldve thought of. Sad. Cant wait for LAPD to solve and catch the scoundrel.

Only two things came to mind watching the video 1.) The video makes me think she is reacting or engaging in something supernatural/paranormal. When looking at all the deaths there and the serial killers there how could there not be something sinister dwelling in the building. Maybe it got her. 2. Mental illness……..
If someone was actually after her we would have watched it unfold in the elevator.

    • the ace of books

If someone was actually after her we would have watched it unfold in the elevator.

Unfortunately, crime is not convenient in choosing its locations. It goes, in fact, rather out of its way to do the opposite.

Tourists please do not stay in DownTown Los Angeles ever!!!!!! 5000 + homeless people on Skid Row have contracted TB!!!!! The Center of Disease Control has stated also Google Cecil Hotel address and put in sex offenders 5 sex offenders live at the Cecil on the 14th Floor! Los Angeles City is trying to down play her rape murder and disposal!!!! Because they only care about tourist $$$$$$$$$$$$$ than the truth and their safety!!!! They are trying to renovate this area with no avail of ridding the diseases or crime!!!!!!!! If you come to LA stay in Beverly Hills or Lacieniga area or Santa Monica CA not by Venice but by 3rd street! Los Angeles county & LAPD don’t care about Elisa only $$$$$$$$ lost due to bad reputation of Downtown LA!

    • mr.wiener

Less drugs and a good nights rest for you methinks .

  • ?

I can tell you by first hand knowledge of this evil, dark Hotel. I stayed there years back because my ding bat friend made travel arrangements without thinking things through due to a family emergency. She has lived in LA and should have known better. She has a Elisa Lam personality bright but not so bright and would whined up in dangerous situations. So, let me get back on point with what I want to tell the entire freaking world about this place!
We arrived at the Grand Ol’ Cecil (not!) at 12 midnight and had to walk 3 blocks to get there because idiot didn’t want to pay $20 dollars for parking; so instead she parked 3 blocks away to pay for parking! Fuck being cheap how about safety???? After being followed for 2 blocks by this dark homeless figure and literally speed walking/running to a LAPD bike cop and making him pinky promise me that he was going to keep his eye on us as we headed towards the Cecil. He stated he would and even though I was a bit relieved I still didn’t feel safe or ease by any means! This Hotel is 1 block away from Skid Row (major homeless community!!!) And at the moment the location of 5000 homeless people with TB/HIV/HEP/AIDS please Google as Center of Disease Control is trying to lock this place down. Also, the homeless reside at the Cecil! Another bit of info that will shock you about Skid Row! A California State Mental Hospital in Camarillo California shut its doors and loaded its mental patients on a school bus and unloaded and dropped their asses off at Skid Row just like that! Now wandering around Downtown LA!!! Don’t believe me than Google! Camarillo State Hospital is now a UC Channel Islands University and Camarillo State Mental Hospital use to imprison a lot of well known celebrity defected children (Dorthy Dandridge) I have a girlfriend who was a nurse there who would tell me the history and stories about the mental patients! Scary!!!!! One guy murdered his wife hunting and every day he would always tell my friend a different story about how she got murdered!!! My point is that they released this wacko’s in Downtown LA and didn’t tell the public! We learned the hard way or by personal knowledge! Back to my experience about my 1 night stay at the Cecil! When you walk through the doors the management fools you into thinking this place is decent with all the marbel!!!!!!!! I never clutched my butt cheeks so tight in my life!!! Immediately you sense a aura of darkness, danger, pure evil!!!! That’s how saturated that place is!!! 100 tons of salt and Holy Water will not sanctify this place and I mean that!!!! It’s that bad!!!! It gets worse when you pass the security guard who gives you this glare and we scurried to the elevator which had a gate at the time like a guard rail!! The elevator was claustrophobic and dingy and old! Weird, strange men lurking around the halls near the bathroom/showers!!!!! I kept giving my friend the dirtiest look because that’s how post and stressed I was and let me remind you she would get us into these types of situations before!!! Anyhow the ceilings on our floor are low and pipes lined the side of the wall! We get to the room and shut the door fucking 4 to 5 dead bolt locks on the back door!!!!!!!!! Only for female patrons not male!!!! I wonder why!!!!!! I locked every one of those ancient locks!!!! With 1 sink that was from the 1920’s and the water disgusting! I didn’t even brush my teeth or take a piss!!! Way too scared to walk outside!!!! I’ll piss in a cup!!!! Morning time some creep was in the elevator with pitch black sunglasses like Jim Jones/Serial Killer Rapist vibe!!!! I just looked at my friend like WTF we are stuck in this elevator with this wacko! We literally ran the 3 blocks to her car and when we got inside her rental we just locked all the doors and took the deepest fucking gasp/breath ever!

The reason the City of Los Angeles is down playing Elisa Lams murder and rape and disposal of her body is guess????????????

The City of Los Angeles and its investors have tried to renovate this shit hole and don’t want to lose Tourist $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ or potential loft sales to plummet!!!!!!!!! So, the media with influence from the head honchos of the City of LA use words like INCIDENT, ACCIDENT get the drift!!!!! It’s damage control and sweep it under the rug and move on and hope the public forgets! It comes down to profit and revenue loss for that evil area!!! It’s that EVIL!!!! Don’t trust me go down there at all hours so you can get the feel if YouTube doesn’t do you justice!!!! That place is ran by the Crips and there’s pimps, crackheads, Aids, Hep, and down TB Outbreak!!!!!!!! No one from LA goes to Downtown!!!!! That place is that bad!!! Anyhow poor Elisa I don’t know what you were thinking and I wish you would of educated yourself more Google, Yelp, Pictures, Reviews, Satelite anything! You guys she also had a blog diary at Tumblr CaliBlah Nouvelle Nouveau please Google and read ETC and her entry’s! Despite her naiveness did not mean she deserved to die! What can we learn??? Young ladies please girls don’t be so naive and gullible! A degree isn’t going to save you from the creeps out there in the real world!!!! Having street smarts can get you far in life!!! Don’t drink everything that comes your way!!! Watch it being poured and opened!!!! Or buy your own dam drink!!! Or run the risk ending up like many girls that didn’t use their noggins!!! Excuse my grammar as I’m typing from a phone and want to convey my point quickly! Rest In Peace Elisa and I hope the LAPD really try to solve this case!!! And I wish your family healing during this tragic time my heart hurts for your loss! To all the girls who have lost their life to violence and sadistic men you are not forgotten!

  • ?

Los Angeles has a pedophile sex ring to service high powered entertainment execs! Perversion and corruption is everywhere do not turn a blind eye! Educate the world and expose these deviants so we can bring more Light to the world!!!! California has a lot of missing kids rumor has always been that Hollywood has a lot of satanist who sacrifice and torture and drink the blood of virgins at these gatherings! Sounds far fetched? Stealing organs from live humans! Nothing is far fetched! The Black Dahlia murder was committed by a doctor and this canabalistic ring of abortionist doctors LA County higher ups covered it up!!!! Research! There’s a lot of sinister activity in this town! Do not be fooled!!! Lots of cover ups!!!! Like this Lam case will be covered up to save face for $$$$$$$$$$ that’s all it comes down to!!!! They care more about water and downplaying their use of words!!!! They exploit the Black Dahlia murder but higher ups have already known who the killer was!!!!! His own son turned on him who happened to be a high ranking homicide detective for the LAPD with solved cases under his belt. My point this whole world has wickedness!!! Stand up for what is right and for the ones who can not defend theirselves!

Registered sex offenders that live at the Cecil Hotel!!!!!!! Google sex offender with the Hotel Cecil address plus the address next door!

These are the types of freaks that were there when I stated there for 1 night! Creeps!!!!!!!! Elisa had nooooo idea what she was surrounded around!!! You’re checking in but you are not checking out type of place!!!!!

First she dresses in red, that attracts those spirits.. Second, she is definitely being possess, those signs and gestures are abnormal, it might even have nothing to do with drugs. It looks like Ghosts enter into her body, thats why she is not really herself. Then came the info published about the blog on Tumblr which looks like her. If its really her, she clearly shows that she is scared to death, and there were postcards which have mailed to her friends, clearly suggest that spirits are affecting her. She is scared… She should have just walk out the hotel and leave her luggage and call her parents for help. Its so sad, she is only 21…

    • Hongwu Emperor

This is true. a sad truth indeed. =[

  • Foofoo

The black dahlia did not take place at the Cecil. Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterwegger lived there, that’s all.

  • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

There are many people who comments here, some clearly dismiss the spiritual explanation, but if you are westerner, you should accept it, because the top 10 most haunted hotels, 9 of them are western countries, including Langham London. Cecil would have made the list if it wasn’t so crappy. The drug factor, I wouldn’t view too much into it. How does spirit move anyway? They float… So there you have it. She was possess in the elevator, thats why not only her gesture was weird, one of her foot clearly looks like dislocate, and yet she still walks, so something took control of her. In case people still don’t believe it, Grand Hyatt Taipei is ranked 10th most haunted because its built on top of cementary, thats why the hotel has many decorated countermeasures, but report indicates even a Korean star was scared to death after staying there. The TV will turn on, and freaky things comes out, so explain that… It can’t be a guy getting hi and come out from your TV set. Hong Kong has it too, that were some TV programmes talking about spirits, but one of them was hosted on YouTube, and this lady stays in so called a undisclose service apartment. She recalls one night, she saw her own spirit floated above her when sleeping, and she was floated outside the complex, only to see that the surrounding is nothing resembles to the city but just her apartment, and she saw a guy pointed a gun to another gun and drag him into the apartment, then she floats back to her own body. When she awakes, there is another person, on the other bed, with long long hair, she was eager to find out who that is, only to be freak out that it was a young woman smiling at her. She even said that her friends all come into the elevator with her while she told them she saw a man in the elevator, facing the other way that morning, but when she reaches the ground floor, she was eager to find out what that weirdo was doing, and he vanishes, so these friends of her said if there are ghosts inside the elevator, they will need to show themselves in order for them to believe. Immediately, the elevator stops for a brief moment, with some clunky sounds on it. She then tell those guys to apologize to the spirit, and everything went back to normal.

    • Hongwu Emperor

I agree with you, there surely are some messed-up places, and we should not make the spirits angry or build an building in a way that disrespects them, and all!!

      • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

She should have call out “Jesus” to help…

        • Hongwu Emperor

What about the religion of her ancestors? ^_^

          • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

Unless you believe in Christ, this kind of abnormal events are nothing special… Ever heard of Christian gathering groups sometimes go to visit elderly. Their mission is of course trying to convert her to Christ, but it will be difficult, as those guys left, the spirits would lift up the blanket while she was sleeping and say, “You don’t believe me anymore”…, and will scare the crap out of her…

    • mr.wiener

I still think it’s interesting that Chinese see the vid of her in the elevator and think :”Oooh….ghosts!” Were as foreigners see it and think : “drugs or craziness”.
You go with what you know I guess.

      • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

Its not Chinese thing…. Its angry spirits, nothing to do with Chinese…Spirits are everywhere, This girl’s posted a postcard to her friends, and its written in English with words like creeping, pilgrimage. This crap-hole has been crawled by angry spirits, but most likely, the cops will sweep it underneath the rug. It may have something to do with drugs, but how can she get past security and climb to a tank undetected… Well, if she is murdered, only the elites like the Navy Seals, or the SAS could have done this… Do u think the special forces will come to this joint to murder her….

        • mr.wiener

I was talking about our interpretations of this. I find interesting the different cultural explanations that easterners and westerners come up with.

I don’t know if ghosts killed her , but am reasonably certain it was not the navy seals. I think the simplest explanation is usually the most likely to be correct. Some one slipped her some drug, murdered her and dumped her body in the tank.
We all believe what we choose to. I’m more than happy you have your own ideas on this.

          • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

Well its not cultural explanation, there is news quoted from that the young lady said there was a game of something that deals with rescuing spirits in water, and of course her friends thought that was extremely weird. She could be drug, but if she can have time to post the postcard to her friend, why didn’t she call for help… Why walk back to the joint.. Also, besides her gesture, did you see one of her foot is bent, while outside the lift.. A normal human being would have said something like “Ouch”, but she was smiling…

          • mr.wiener

As previously stated: You are entitled to your interpretation and I have no wish to change that.

WOW…1 article with a murdered Chinese-Canadian and a bunch of racists jump on it. (yes, all your ethnically Chinese too…if you have an Asian face and speaks Chinese, you are effing ethnically Chinese).

    1. Conspiracy theories are bull without proof, y’all know how many people die or ‘disappear’ on the East ends of major cities in the US? How much ‘cover ups’ are there? The Chinese has 1.3 billion people…they’ll deal with chaos from development and don’t need people like you sitting on their hands to bicker

    2. Want to bring in North Korea? Bring in pretty much EVERY African country? It’s so easy to look at others and say they are uncivilized ‘chimps’ and ‘brutes’ deserving to be looked down upon, but people don’t, why? Because they are NOT RACISTS.

    3. All y’all with Chinese names out there bashing Mainland China: sure they are communists, sure they are not democratic, sure a lot of them are under-educated…but by bashing them, you are worse. You are not doing jack-squat to change anything, and all you do is benefit from their economy, using stuff they made and still have the dumb nerve to criticize their morality with nothing constructive in your comment

Bring the flame on you racists, this white girl can take it. Screw all your hypocrites out there and have a great effing day.

    Hello,
Like all of you on this blog I too am fascinated with the

  • http://www.facebook.com/orlyfrank Orly Frank

Several of you here and on other websites have suggested that ‘Nouvelle/Nouveau Tumblr is that of Elisa Lam and by all description it certainly looks that way. On Jan 29th she writes.”I have arrived in Lala land ….etc “… Her last entry was dated Feb 18. The media claims she had been in the water tank for the last three weeks. Doesn’t add up . Anybody ??

  • adsfasf4

none of you think she was on/doing drugs from that elevator article now, do you? idiots.

  • nintendo-nerd

I bet you any money that it was a white man that killed her lol

  • ConcernedCitizen

LAPD and The Political Power Holders along with the media are trying to confuse people with the public with Elisa Lam’s video I assure you there is waaaay more footage and yet they only release this part! Notice how they use words like its a accident, incident, she’s acting bizarre, strange, odd, weird!!!! They are playing up on these words that Chinese are stereotypically known for. Instead of using words RAPE, MURDERED, DISPOSED etc! LA County is trying to downplay her rape and murder because this crime will bring negative attention to the DownTown area! It has always been known for crime, drugs, murder, rape, prostitution, homelessness, disease!!!!!!! The city has inve$ted lots of money trying to clean up this place with no avail!!!! This murder will only scare tourist therefore; noooooooo revenue noooooooo money coming in nooooooo investors or buyers for their shitty lofts that are in a crime ridden area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The City of LA doesn’t care about Elisa!!!!!!! They only care about sweeping this murder under the rug so they can clean this stain from their reputation!!!! This murder will hurt their economy in LA!!!!!! Don’t you guys get it!!!!! Do you think the camera in the elevator is the only camera??? Yet that’s the only footage they want the public to see!!! Why not let us see everything than so we can get a real conclusion than this edited version?????! I live in LA and have worked in Entertainment and the tricks and wording that the media uses to downplay her rape and murder!!! They focus more on the water and gasp and laugh than focus on the real matter! That a tourist was raped and murdered and disposed of in the water tank! LA is a corrupt place!!!!! There’s also TB outbreak 1 block away on Skid Row!!!! The name of the test LAM ELISA???? So what now we focus on TB and not the rape and murder of a tourist??? I will not stop in exposing the world to LA’s corruption of this case!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/bombealaska 10fps

Partially agree with your opinion, but LA will not be the only city doing this. Many places in the world will do this, because of bad reputation can ruin the town. There will always be politics, and LAPD reputation is not that outstanding but I wouldn’t blame the cops for this one. What are they supposed to say? Its a ghost, then Downtown area will be empty, prices will free-fall.. Besides, spirits are everywhere, she just happens to be very unlucky…

  • ?

Lets ask the LAPD why they released a video of Elisa Lam and leave out all the other footage of her movement in that sess pool of Parolees/X Cons/Sexual Offenders on the 14th Floor?????? And the heading used is strange, odd behavior, weird, bizarre, drugged, etc! So you can let the public go with it and go viral on the Internet? So we can be side tracked about the corpse water???? So we will soon forget about it in a week??? So you can go about your plans and forget that Elisa Lam was raped, murdered, and disposed of!!!! Really slick damage control and working with the help of media which sides with its masters!!!! LAPD knows good and well what happened to Elisa and behind closed doors talk about why she was there anyway. No she didn’t ask for it LAPD!!! Tourist do not invest your money and stay in DownTown LA ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because this is how they will do you!!!!!! Stay in Santa Monica or Beverly Hills!!!! DownTown LA is extremely dangerous!!!!! Its infested with TB Bacteria 5000 homeless people have it!!! It’s a airborne disease; which makes DT dangerous in every way!!!!

I suggest looking up Snopes.com for an “urban legend” that’s TRUE!!!

Also a bit of “Tappin’ the Admiral” which they say is false, but only coz it was the poofy admirals who wrote Naval history.

I got my Chinese friend to translate a lot of Chinese articles and Youtube videos on this. I don’t know why they’re wasting so much time – half of the speculation I read about is just stupid. There are entire video analysis where they pause and zoom in, highlighting the shadows of Elisa. Apparently they’re saying she is possessed. This is a Canadian Chinese who died in L.A – if they really care they should look in their own country and do something about it. As for their speculation, here’s some real speculation: evidence that the video was edited: http://straymusings.com/the-elisa-lam-case-what-are-they-hiding/
