Journalist Exploits Plane Crash Victims, Netizen Reactions

The two Chinese school girls who perished in the June 7th San Francisco plane crash, Ye Mengyuan on the left, Wang Linjia on the right.

From Sina Weibo:

@僧伽密多 “If they were still alive and knew that the Zhejiang Province Organization Department Chief Cai Qi had paid attention to them [their deaths], perhaps Wang Jialin’s eyes would widen with pleasant surprise, beaming, and perhaps Ye Mengyuan would jump up and down in excited disbelief.” Has China Youth Daily‘s ass-kissing become a habit? Who is “Zhejiang Province Organization Department Chief Cai Qi” that anyone should care about what he pays attention to? Are you the spokesperson for the two deceased girls? It’s deja vu of “I can only hope for a television in front of my grave, to watch the Olympics, and join others in cheering.”

A screen capture of the paragraphs that have angered thousands Chinese netizens. The first paragraph is above. The second paragraph reads: “On July 7th, the microblog account of Cai Qi, which has 9.28 million ‘fans/followers’, posted two crying emoticons: ‘Grieving for the two Zhejiang schoolgirls who died in the Asiana Airlines crash.’ Within a short two days, the number of views reached 16.53 million.”

Comments from Sina Weibo:

Tupolev154:

Why should they jump up happily? They [government department chiefs] may be high and mighty in your eyes, the people you flatter and fawn over, but those children are not like you. You whore, just what right do you have to say something like this about those who died?

Dungeon_Assassin:

The Heavenly Kingdom really has no lack of shameless eunuchs, hehe.

善良笨笨狼:

@庄庆鸿 [the China Youth Daily writer], To borrowed something a certain netizen has said before: It’s hard for this kind of women to find a sugar-daddy, so she can only suffer licking [kissing] someone’s ass. Her ass-licking job is really way better than that of Global Times.

wflame:

If you want to lick ass then go lick, [but] please don’t use the names of the departed, don’t stain the souls of dead.

唐小冲:

To impose your own values upon the two girls who so unfortunately died at this young age, at the moment when the nation’s people mourn them, shows that you not only have messed up values but are also of lousy character/qualifications. You should voluntarily resign.

金方艺术摄影:

I’m really disgusted by this journalist’s portrayal of the two victims being overwhelmed by the attention of some government official. This simply reveals the officialdom-oriented thinking of this journalist. It’s clear that she is taking a route to curry favor with the high-ups, to easily get recognition and appreciation from government leaders. Putting one’s own thinking on others, especially imposing it on the dead, is too dishonest, because the because the dead cannot refute it. Comrade Journalist, the department chief is watching you.

一恋尘风:

China Youth Daily has already deleted this paragraph. What a godly newspaper.

吴国阜lawyer:

Me and my little friends are stupefied.

Zhuang Qinghong, the writer of the article, defended herself on Sina Weibo the same day.

From Sina Weibo:

@庄庆鸿 In response to @Tijen: Right, that’s why I used “perhaps”. I also read all the weibo posts of the two deceased girls and found they didn’t pay any special attention to officialdom or politics. They were simple and cute girls, so I wrote it the way I did. Look at the whole article and you will know I was memorializing these two deceased. //@Tijen: China Youth Daily is still quite good, don’t paint all with the same brush… the journalist is @庄庆鸿…

Comments from Sina Weibo:

吴三三:

Yeah, perhaps, perhaps it’s time for you to take your medication.

咏春7:

Congratulations, now even Americans know about you and your ass-kissing article. Mr. Cai Qi was just a secretary for President Xi and former Mayor of Hangzhou, is he really worth this kind of ass-kissing from you? Would you have died if you didn’t write that…?

Fuck-U木木三:

Go to Global Times! People like you would really fit Hu Xijin, and you can start a beautiful career of ass-licking together.

拜怪兽求考试万福的小香蒲:

Next time it’ll be you who dies from a plane crash, and then President Xi will pay attention to your death. Then you will jump up happily, eyes-wide with a smile, in disbelief!! We await that day to be happy for you, dear.

岳落鑫飞2011:

You can enter the provincial propaganda department now.

晴天娃娃940:

Damn, was your literature and language class taught by a P.E. teacher?

Kinda like American media after the Newtown massacre. Wouldn’t leave the family off the victims alone.

    • mr.wiener

Worst I saw was a christian pamphlet from the Colombine massacre. One of the killers had asked a victim if she believed in God before they shot her. Some shameless Evangelistic types have been boiling down her bones to make soup ever since. In this pamphlet: “She said yes!” The poor girl is telling us from heaven how happy she is and how she had experimented with Satanism before [she was into heavy metal] but by the grace of god had been saved.
I’m certain these Christian people were true believers, but it just seems a tad….presumptuous.

      • markus peg

Every religion has extremists that have taken things to far (further than they are suppose to go) Many Christians in the UK would condemn these kind of pamphlets.

I don’t want to insult but from what i have learnt, my opinion is that many Christians in both the USA and South Korea are too extreme. (More so than other nations).

        • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

There’s a lot of christian posturing going on here in the South, but it’s mostly tame. Just meat-headed, red faced, middle class older men getting angry about everything.

Although there was Tony Alamo and his cult compound right down the road. They use to leave pamphlets on our cars all the time about how the government is big and evil and Tony Alamo’s religion is true and amazing, and that his wife is dead but she’ll come back to life pretty soon. Anyway he got arrested for some kind of child endangerment and/or molestation.

      • The Enlightened One

LoL… even shamless people believe in religion. But… it is really just to use religion as a scapegoat for their actions.

Those are the worst kinds of shameless people. If hell exists, they are going!

        • Atlas

          Those are some annoying scapegoats…

          XD

      • Baphomet

Christianity, I remember the C of E pamphlets about how masturbation/porn is the devil tempting you, and that boys must resist such satanic influences. Once I left C of E school, I never wanted to look back…..atheism all the way.

      • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

Come to find out, the whole “do you believe in god” thing wasn’t even real. The guy actually just said (according to the girl hiding under the table next to her) “peekaboo” before he shot her. But, that didn’t stop several bands, such as Paramore, from writing songs about her.

    • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

yeah but no one made assumptions about how the kids would be jumping up and down in glee if the US Secretary of Education (or whoever) had tweeted about their death.

I want to kill the people who design these hideous school uniforms worn across china.

      • europhobic

        Wasn’t copying flattery?!

And the Japanese school uniforms look really awesome. The skirts aren’t meant to be worn so high by standard. Get your facts straight before criticizing.

        • mr.wiener

Which facts would they be, That the uniforms aren’t worn so high as standard, that they look “awesome” or that they have become iconic for the Japanese porn industry?

          • Cauffiel

Thats not the way the actual uniforms look…. just like Catholic school girls uniforms in American porn, they are sexualized versions.

And who cares anyway? Are you pretending to dislike porn?

          • mr.wiener

Nope, Just replying to someone who wants my facts to travel at 180 degrees.

but what does “travel at 180 degrees” mean? is that a chinese idiom?

Incredible. A plane crash involving Chinese resulting in death and injuries and not one comment about compensation. What’s happening out there in the Middle Kingdom?

  • joe blow

Hello my little foreigners! It’s such a shame all the Chinese netizens can’t read your passionate comments that you post here and share in your so very intellectual dissertations and learn how to think like real men and women! Some day I’m sure you’ll all have a vocal channel in which you can tell the whole world what you think about China, Chinamen and Orientals in general! Especially the ESL teachers in China who know EVERYTHING! Let’s at least hope so anyway! hee hee ! :-)

    • markus peg

I feel that the person “外国人的祖国!” has had bad experiences with foreigners which makes his views extreme , i still have hope for him to see things from other angles. what is your reason “Joe Blow” ?

Why don’t you translate are comments into Chinese for people to read. we have a mixture of intelligent, stupid, racist, understanding and troll comments here just as any big website/forum/blog has.

its the intelligent comments we should focus on. Most of the time we focus on the stories first and then comment on the comments, if we can relate to them we agree, if we find the views to be a distortion of truth from are own point of view we say so…

Most people who are in the position to voice an opinion to important people who listen are those who are trying to create a better life for everyone, setting up connections, city to city or business relationships. those kinds of people are not the trolls but those who are passionate because they care. Even those who are ESL teachers have a role to play and may even end up with a bigger role in their future. You can do almost anything you want in this world if you have the determination.

Most (not all) but most people who comment with anger or love do so because they are passionate and care about China/Chinese. After all how does that Chinese saying go “打是亲骂是爱” You hit/hurt because you love.

What are your thoughts about what i have said Joe?

          • joe blow

Mr. Wiener! Hello! If there was a chicken who could play a game of chess, I do have my doubts as to whether you could do any better than draw a game with it!

          • mr.wiener

Point is you can’t play chess with a chicken. They ignore all your moves, knock the pieces over, shit on the board and then crow their own victory.

          • Trollin’ in my 5.0

Yeah I got that point. My point was even if they could play a game of chess fair and square, with your level of intelligence I doubt you could beat one. I guess you missed that.

          • mr.wiener

I must have missed that. Probably because I was plowing through your witty thesis on why foreigners owe china. The sarcasm didn’t kick in until the end….honestly, I never saw it coming!!
You have no stake in anything being discussed here as you only want to be around to annoy people. Fair enough, you can if you like, but the triumph you feel [justified or not] is transitory. You won’t last more than a week or two then you’ll get bored and move on.

          • Trollin’ in my 5.0

Mr. Wiener! I’m sorry you thought I would imply that foreigners owe China something because they don’t! Well, maybe except for the Gallic American Wine spokesmen! You’re right, I won’t be around here too long, maybe two weeks, maybe two months but no longer than that! Only as long as I have to be infront of this god-forsaken computer for my work! And this diversionary triumph i feel won’t feel so transitory to neither you nor I when years down the road you start thinking about all the things you could have done and learned in real life if you hadn’t spent all of your time paying attention to Trolls on ChinaSmack! EPIC WIN!

You’re right of course. Rather than starting my own business I should have been working for the Gallic American wine spokesmen group, trying to keep the disgust from showing on my face watching a bunch of gaudily dressed nouveau riche Chinese yuppies adding coco cola to the 98 vintage.

      • joe blow

        Dearest friend Markus Peg,

I was surprised and absolutely delighted to see your reply to my hopes that one day all foreigners will have a broad forum with which they will be able to discuss with and educate all Chinamen on the way real people conduct their daily lives!

I don’t know that person you are talking about (外国人的祖国) or why he has negative attitudes towards foreigners but I think he should lighten up and actually listen to what the foreigners here are telling him! In this way when foreigners go to his country and try to impose their standards and habits on him he can better understand and learn to change his living habits to better suit the sensitivities of all foreigners in the world! I think this would be beneficial for China in that more and more foreigners without higher educations can go to China to be English teachers and French Wine spokesmen! In this way Chinese businessmen and government officials are able to have a foreign face to aid in their endeavors at the dinner tables and the foreigners without skills who are hard pressed to find ways to make a living in their own countries can make a rather good living in China! I think its a big win-win situation! Don’t you think so? Let’s hope for even better!

I think that in the past Chinamen have had some negative feelings towards foreigners due to some rather unpleasant events in their history, but hey, let’s keep things positive! Those events and people like the Opiums Wars, Horse Marines and Japanese Invasion (which let’s face it, led to the success of the Communist party in taking China and in turn the present societal state that you oh so love to discuss on ChinaSmack), even though negative, really shouldn’t be used by Chinamen in any way to think about foreigners and their interactions with them right? Right! After all those things happened long long ago, and are only footnotes in American and European history books! Hardly important and should be forgotten given the fact that these events and thoughts about them may only make life harder for foreigners in China! So my suggestion to the person you mentioned, 外国人的祖国 is that he really needs to get a life and get positive! He should think of all foreigners in a harmonious light and better learn to respect their sensitivities! A good example for him to reflect on foreign harmony would be the current case of George Zimmerman in Florida! See how harmoniously relations are between blacks and whites! Chinamen have a thing or two to learn here!

And yes, I also think we should focus on all of the intelligent comments on ChinaSmack and I just love your idea that I should translate them for Chinese netizens! I think I’ll start this afternoon! It would mark a beginning in Chinese-foreign internet relations and help, as you state in your following paragraph, people in China, especially foreigners, to more easily set up those city to city and business relationships! After all, this kind of and effort on my part would be in part, a small step to make life much easier for ESL teachers and French Wine spokesmen in China! What a positive step forward!

And lastly, I applaud your understanding that foreigners on ChinaSmack and in China want to educate Chinamen on how to better live their lives because they are passionate and care about China and Chinamen! How true! After all, it’s the Chinamen who have given them jobs, positions and a livelihood where in most other cases there would be none!

So please continue your efforts on ChinaSmack to point out all the things Chinamen need to do to raise themselves to be socially on par with foreign ESL teachers and French Wine spokesmen, because after years of foreign incursions and 60 years of backwards communist nationalism to make sure foreign incursions don’t happen anymore, Chinamen really do need your help! And I’ll make sure my secretary translates all of your comments for them! 加油!

        • markus peg

Thank you for your long and detailed reply. I feel that it was a little off track but that ok.

          Unpleasant events:
Firstly although bad things have happened in history between the UK and China as you so righty pointed out.
No one from that time is still alive and both the people and the government feel regret of our country being involved in such actions around the globe including that of China.
All we can do is apologies and give money which we have done many years ago. You’re correct that it must not be forgotten but at the same time I hardly think it should be held against us. Japan is different because they are covering their history up, which is wrong.

Foreigners without higher educations in China:

You are generalizing that many people come to China with out skills/degrees this happens I agree, then again this doesn’t just happen in China, it happens all over the world. I know many Chinese people who have taken comfortable jobs in the UK without even speaking much English or having qualifications. The reason it happens more in China is because China is a big country and schools often lack teachers and are willing to employ anyone. However in time it will be regulated strictly to avoid incompetence. But lets be honest they aren’t
taking jobs away from Chinese, most of those people you described can only get a job as a teacher. Also I truly believe that the saying that low class teachers come to China because they cannot find jobs in their own country is a misconception, most of them do not come to China for better opportunities but to discover and do something different in their life.

It is unfair to judge a nation by the actions of one person. (Unless of course that one person is a country leader with support from the nation)

Most connections are mutually beneficial; I am not particularly referring to “ESL teachers and French Wine spokesmen” Also I wouldn’t quite word it the way you did about wanting to educate Chinese people. I think many people are just expressing their opinions, I and even Chinese people agree with those opinions. My “efforts” on Chinasmack aren’t left to make a difference or change anything, they are just to express my opinion and if I find something I disagree with I’ll normally leave a comment agonised such comments. I often disagree with foreigners
as well and explain on China’s behalf certain issues. Remember a lot of commenter’s are also learning about China.

          • Trollin’ in my 5.0

        • Don’t Believe the Hype

          Joe Blow,

I’m concerned you are more than a little unbalanced. I’m guessing schizzo. But regardless your attempts to belittle debate on this forum will not be at all successful seeing as you have very little to say other than what the Peoples Daily mouthpiece has already said a thousand time- This is China! You don’t understand China! Right, like it is so incomprehensible (corruption, jealousy, family issues) that no one could possibly understand it if they didn’t see it for themselves or speak the language (both of which Id say the majority of the viewers here have at least a basic idea of). Markus Peg offered a great many reasons why everything you have said is just meaningless rambling. The only thing I wanted to add is a response to the idea that “foreigners” are sitting in judgement of the Chinese people just because they have an interest in the development and success of their country. Many if not most of the people in this forum are interested in China and come on the site to learn more about the events ACTUALLY occuring. While your sitting down reading the English version of China Daily fantasizing about the false utopian society you so desperately wish existed the actual Chinese citizens are laughing at you, while the communist youth league is thinking about a new recruit. If you want to debate issues thats fine, but don’t bother stifling others opinions or claiming sarcasm with your tail between your legs.

        win!

    • Alice S

I’m pretty sure CH ppl understand English. :)

    • Baphomet

That story is fake and you are a troll, get lost body!

      • Trollin’ in my 5.0

        Ok body! HAHA WIN!

    • donscarletti

Next time post something about miscegenation, it gets more passionate responses.

      • Trizzollin’ in my 5.0

haha! yeah give me a few minutes

        • Mighty曹

Is that Vanilla Ice? Now you’re really being offensive!

    • Peter North

Every can ignore Joe Blow over here – its my fault he’s so upset with foreigners.

I ran through his girlfriend with my huge western cock and never called her back. I really split that bitch wide open – and after she just wasn’t satisfied with him anymore.

This anger is really about that 2 inch piece of shit dick of his – just cant swing it like us foreigners do.

Joe Blow – Get over it buddy. With more foreigners coming to China everyday, you are going to have a lot more experiences like this. That’s just the life of a pencil dick having sucka like yourself.

      • Trizzollizzin in my 5.0

Haha! Great story! If I was a Chinaman I might have been offended by
your adolescent narrative! You know, trying to pull penis envy on little
Chinamen only speaks of a foreigner so insecure about the fact that he
can’t make a living in his own country that he has to fall back on the
fack that not he, but Peter North has a big cock! That’s hilarious!
Cause let’s face it, if you did have a big cock the only thing you could
do with your level of IQ is be a porn star. And lastly, creating an
accoun with the name Peter North and failing to pull penis envy on
Chinamen only spells……EPIC WIN FOR TROLLS!

      • azurewanderling

Why does everything come down to penis size with men? I swear…

        • mr.wiener

If men had vaginas we’d probably be comparing them too.

  • 剑胆琴心

    those Kids are so ugly!

          *sniiff* That’s just not true!!

    • The Enlightened One

Haha… well you are certainly are a compassionate one.

I know you are talking about their track suits but the way you start your post sounds kind of like “Those dead kids are so ugly!”

    • linette lee

      • joe blow

wear not ware! and it’s our not are when expressing the plural possessive!

        • markus peg

You are correct, wear not ware. Its a comment typing mistake. Also i didn’t write are/our.

This comment was just a lighthearted joke.

          • Trollin’ in my 5.0

You wrote it here…..if we find the views to be a distortion of truth from are own point of view we say so…

            Are should have been our……..WIN!

    • Mighty曹

Before I react to what I think you’re saying…. did you just say the deceased girls are ‘ugly’????

      • markus peg

I think [hope] he was talking about the uniform and not the girls.

        • Mighty曹

          She said ‘kids’.

          • markus peg

I was hoping it was a written mistake, but apparently it wasn’t. its disgusting to say such a thing, that kind of comment should stay in ones head…

          • Mighty曹

Now I see why so many folks here are not very nice to her.

          • 剑胆琴心

i do not come here to be a saint or faker.
i say what i wanna say.that’s just my style. i do not talk fake things in reality either.that’s why when i really praise others. they are truly happy.

and i merely brag to pretend.that’s why even now i go to see friend,we still sleep together talk all night long, let her husband sleep on sofa.

          • Mighty曹

Neither am I. But have a bit of decency and respect for the deceased.

          • vincent

Haha says the person not using their real picture as a DP, oh the irony! Seriously have a heart and open your mind, it isn’t about looks, you have a serious lack of empathy and from the previous episode of Dexter I saw my expert opinion is that you may be a psychopath.

          • Mighty曹

Her heart is ugly. I’ve seen her old pic and she has the face to match it.

          • 剑胆琴心

            hahaha, hope so…
at least i am the winner of relationship.
do not cover your ugly face by that cheap hat or fuck off.
            fuck off!

          • Mighty曹

You’re the winner only because your man is a loser amongst men.

          • http://simplydesigned.tumblr.com/ maybeabanana

You have a duffle bag o zings somewhere?

          • Mighty曹

I just keep some in my pockets.

          • Germandude

You see, Mighty seems to have some decency. Either, his face is so ugly, that he doesn’t show it to us out of courtesy, because let’s be real, I don’t want to puke out my breakfast in that case. OR, Mighty is so handsome that if he would reveal his face, all guys, including me, would get jealous and depressive and might start hurting themselves of others. So kudos to Mighty.

You however, showed us your real face and are responsible for numerous nightmares.

          • Mighty曹

Damn Deutschdude, you got me there! To commit to being a decent person I’ll never show my face now.

          • Germandude

Welcome to the club. Honestly, if you ever see a person walking around in Shanghai with a plastic bag over his head, that would be me. Don’t want to get those other guys jealous. lol

          • Mighty曹

Yeah, don’t make them attack you while getting into a taxi. (Remember that incident? I’m sure it was because they were jealous that the French guy was with some hot Chinese chick). Anyway, I’m tempted to show my face just so Eatcrap can be bask in the awe of my handsomeness.

          • Mighty曹

You can call others ‘ugly’ to give yourself the false sense of being pretty but you’re merely masking the truth. You can’t hide your ugly heart and face.

*Official NFL cap. $35 plus tax. I’m not rich so this isn’t ‘cheap’ to me.

          • Germandude

“that’s why when i really praise others. they are truly happy.”

You know, the odd moment when an idiot comes to you and says “You are awesome” and you are like “Cool bro!”…

          • Mighty曹

But in your mind you’re like “WTF GTFO of here?”.

          • Germandude

I guess that’s what we would be thinking. Not her.

          • Mighty曹

            Indeed.

      • 剑胆琴心

        i mean both.
if my kid had to wear glasses early i would be very mad.
i hate to see girls wear glasses, though i have to.

        • mr.wiener

          oh dear.

        • linette lee

There is this thing called contact lense. :)

It’s very hard not to wear eyeglasses when you are in school and come home to study the whole day. It’s like 12 hours of reading and studying daily including weekend tutor classes. What to do?

          • markus peg

Who knew that video games were better for the eyes than studying. Please ding this up to let more western parents know the truth! =] lol

          • linette lee

Video games very bad for eyes. I know many guys back in school that’s all they did. Study then video games the whole day.

          • markus peg

Just to be clear, i was kidding.

          • Baphomet

i was told masturbation is bad for the eyes?!

          • 剑胆琴心

            yes, in china.
and i and he both wear glasses,so the gene will be weak.
but anyway i do not want my kid to be a geek.not same as me…

          • linette lee

I hate studying for school. 50% of the materials they are teaching are so useless. But I love reading.

          • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

My mom, dad, brother, and sister all have terrible vision. I, however, have 20/10 vision…I don’t know how they measure vision in China, but 20/10 is better than perfect (20/20). I have superhuman vision, is what I’m saying.

          • mr.wiener

You are a cat after all.

        • Mighty曹

So you clarify by saying ‘BOTH KIDS’ are ugly?

        • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

          I like ladies in glasses.
I also have a huge weakness for ears kind of sticking out of hair.
Basically I like the nerd look.

It’s a horrible show..I watched two episodes.. not impressed, characters too fake for the girls… gaaawwwwwwd

          • Mighty曹

Hahaha… and you managed to watch 2 episodes! One was enough for me.

          • Mighty曹

            Sexy nerd look.

          • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

That’s the cute nerd look. If I want sexy nerd, I’ll just say Olivia Munn or Eva Mendes in glasses in a library or something

          • http://simplydesigned.tumblr.com/ maybeabanana

Eva Mendes… though I wouldn’t call her nerdy but definitely better than olivia. Munn is a hack imo. She plays to the geeks nothing else.

          • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

I can picture them both as a nerdy librarian seductress.
But yeah, I wasn’t picking Olivia Munn on acting roles (she did well being the humorless reporter type on the Newsroom, at least), I’m going specifically on looks. Dem freckles…

          • Mighty曹

            The librarian fantasy. hahaha…

    • Zappa Frank

Etto, we’ve seen your pictures ok? most of us remember your face, and you wans’t that good… nothing bad in this, but at least do not mock other girls that are better than you.

  • Mighty曹

WTF is “paid attention to them”??? Did he visit the girls’ families or send personal condolences? I think not.

  • http://www.richardfordphotography.com/ Richard Ford

Why do people keep referring to Donkeys and not butts? Is it just too hard to wright arse. Ass is quicker? Phonetically all wrong.

    • markus peg

Arse is the British way of spelling it.
Ass is the American way… the meaning is the same.
It seems to be that the British & Australians tend to understand both American and British English. but only half of Americans understand British English. No offense, its just a general observation. i sometimes change my spellings online to the American spelling just so people understand and don’t lash back by trying to correct my spelling “mistakes”. Personally id like to point out that some American words make scene while others didn’t need to be changed from the British English. It was one mans job to change the dictionary on purpose when America was independent. Some things were useful such as the spelling of colour to color.. but others just made communication problems such as trousers and pants.

      • http://www.richardfordphotography.com/ Richard Ford

British English. That’s a classic. Like Russian Russian or Japanese Japanese?

The deaths must already be hard enough on the parents. With only two deaths, people tent to think that close to no one died. Those who survived will see it as some event to add to their CV and the rest quickly forgets. It’s like the Costa Concordia that had such a huge number of people on board that no one really thinks of those who were unnessessarily killed.

    • chucky3176

I know this may not mean much for the grieved family, but the family of the teens will be receiving a hefty compensation package from Asiana depending on the result of the accident investigation. At least a million dollars will help the families of these two, to cope for their loss.

      • Mighty曹

Asiana’s insurance more than covers for every passenger on board. The news showed a break down of the premium and coverage. The figures are incredible. It would put most smaller airlines out of business.

        • chucky3176

If the families hold out and do a separate law suit against the company,
they may get at least twice as much money. The last fatal crash in Korea
in 1997 when KAL crashed killing over 200 people, those who took the first
offer made by KAL, got about $200,000. But those who formed a separate
lawsuit, the Korean government awarded the victim’s families, from $500,000 to $5
million. Flash forward 25 years, and that amount could climb due to
          inflation.

          • Mighty曹

Firms tend to settle Class Action suits to avoid paying the big bucks. But claimants who think they deserve the big bucks file separate suits at the expense of drawn out trials that take time and may or may not be ruled in their favor. That’s why most people also take the “less-but-sure” money in a ‘group suit’.

  • Rick in China

    Ok…so….

Gov’t person says something like “Condolences for the loss” in a public forum, people attack him/her/it.

    Gov’t person says nothing.

Either way, seems everyone is furious. People get furious no matter what the situation is – just because it involves a gov’t official, and that’s a sign of the hatred for gov’t in general.

  • lin

I don’t think the author meant that…the author was obviously saying that the government was being fake, becuz they knew it was a sensitive topic so if they came out and said something, it’d make them look good. However the author thinks the government is fake and they only choose to react or respond to certain issues, which shouldn’t be happening.

Those netizens (网友) are too sensitive and are misunderstanding the dude, learn to read people, and also, if you just “断章取义”, then of course this person would look like a 人渣

Anyone wanna send me a link to the actual post so I could read the whole thing? If you think I’m wrong or not understanding the point, send me it and prove me wrong. I’d like if someone sent me the link

Hi Eatshit. Do you dare look at the mirror each morning you wake up? :)

She has a point though. Do you have any wigs?

          • Mighty曹

If I put on a wig and wear a miniskirt I’d look hotter than her.

I hope you like kebabs. I hear they can get a bit monotonous after a while.

          • Mighty曹

I’m down with goat or lamb kebabs. Followed by a hookah.

The prank playing element is funny, but damn, there apparently are levels of tolerable racist jokes depending on which race it is.

          • mr.wiener

The part I find funny is the fact that they reported this even though it was so obviously BS. It makes you wonder just how much of anything reported can be true in the journalistic race to report the news as soon as possible

          • Mighty曹

Media’s overeagerness to be the first really bit them in the ass.

After the first one or two, I expected the anchor to realize what she was saying and stop haha

          • Mighty曹

Exactly. But she actually used extra care to pronounce the names correctly. lol

          • http://500px.com/justinrjones whiskersthecat

Haha definitely, didn’t want to be racist and pronounce them wrong!
