The below video attracted some netizen attention last month but attracted some attention again these past few days…

On Sina Weibo:

@谷大白话: North Korea Propaganda Video: Imperialist Americans in an Abyss of Suffering. North Korea made a documentary titled “How Americans Live Today”, showing within scenes of Imperialist Americans shivering in cold sleeping outdoors in the streets holding each other for warmth drinking melted snow water lining up for emergency relief supplies. British Alun Hill claims he translated it into English, added narration, uploaded it to YouTube, and caused a worldwide sensation.

The original video on YouTube (without Chinese subtitles):

Comments on Sina Weibo:

牛掰闪闪:

Doesn’t matter if the video is talking about America or not, like North Korea, we’ve probably also done things like this before. [右哼哼]

绿水怪木棉:

Little brother is little brother [referring to North Korea], fabricating something this poorly, should look at big brother’s [referring to China] CCAV sometime. We live broadcast the abyss of suffering of Europeans and Americans every day!

国荣GZ:

[哈哈], how about sending me to go save the abyss of suffering Americans?

羊习习-:

Don’t just sneer at North Korea, the comments on YouTube all say it was arbitrarily translated, that it was talking about Romania.

孤撑暮色:

Little Brother North Korea copies Big Brother quite well, the student surpasses the master.

无耻青年:

Poor Americans…

苡Edison爲榮:

How can it be like this? How can they only provide assistance to them and not provide assistance to our Heavenly Kingdom? We’re also a socialist empire, this isn’t right. [可爱]

F1rst熊:

Poor American Imperialists~ Let’s go immigrate to save them. [偷笑]

数码总监苍龙:

Watching it was so heartbreaking, I feel so much sympathy with these abyss of suffering Americans [泪] Hahaha LOL [哈哈][哈哈][哈哈]

sou169:

How can one raise themselves [make themselves look better] like this? North Korea is so shameless!

Ginger捷:

In the past, there was no shortage of doing this kind of stuff from us, don’t laugh at others!

木子草人立口:

On April Fool’s Day, this news is the most foolish [obviously fake]!

风V为伴:

Today I bought a model of the Apple iPhone, went to the fountain in the park wanting to zhuang B, so I lifted up the model mobile phone and pretended to make a phone call, then started yelling angrily, then angrily threw the mobile phone into the fountain! So many people were looking at me, thinking it was such a pity, while I secretly felt pleased with myself, with my head held high, preparing to leave, when behind me a girl said something that made me flee… Brother, your mobile phone floated back up!

奉献基层1076819977:

The task of saving the world can only be handed to North Korea now…

Nice-Morning:

Hahaha, I LOL’d when the music started. [哈哈][哈哈][哈哈]

冬冬000002:

The textbooks and what the teacher taught when I was in elementary and middle school also said how the people in the United States and the people in Taiwan were all living in an abyss of suffering, and that we would liberate them when we grow up! We must liberate all of mankind (does this count as the origin of the Chinese threat)!

张氏小恒:

Stupid cunt ignorant Fatty Kim III and North Korea.

JimChangTom:

Only ghosts [no one] would believe the ordinary common people of North Korea have televisions to watch. [偷乐]

小邹要成老麻师:

I can only say that after watching it, I think all of China’s YY authors are totally weak.

K-Viddd:

Our Heavenly Kingdom has the gall to go laugh at others? Go look at the decades-long serialized fantasy novel “Xinwen Lianbo“. What day doesn’t it say how blessed and happy the Chinese people are while foreigners are all live in an abyss of suffering?

Through her tireless translation of popular Chinese internet news and phenomenon, her English has apparently gotten dramatically better. At least, reading and writing-wise. Unfortunately, she's still not confident enough to have written this bio, about herself, by herself.
