MRXN:

My god, I casually Baidu’d you, and you’re actually born 1923, 91 years old this year, OMG!!!

青山空石:

I just looked up your information, and you’re a 91-year-old man. Coming over here from so far away, please take care of your body/health!

QUTTA:

Israel really has been very good to China. During World War II, China took in a lot of Jewish refugees helping them avoid the disaster of war, and now this ethnicity truly knows how to be thankful. This is the kind of country that China should foster good relations with, and whether it be Israel or Pakistan, these are the true brothers of China. Anyway, this president is truly so adorable, and I just love adorable uncles [older men] [害羞][害羞][害羞][害羞]

小皱巴巴:

Welcome to China [呵呵]

访书客:

Welcome, handsome old president.

2大透明炒白菜:

This is the most niu live broadcasting, damn, suddenly so gao da shang, am I right? [威武]

冰绡小女和萨酱:

Congratulations on Israel’s President for joining the Weibo masses. [嘻嘻][嘻嘻][嘻嘻]

减速盘旋:

Several years ago I visited Israel, and I really like that strong [resilient/tough] country. From Israel’s history, I am even more able to and even more deeply understand what the word 坚强 [strong, resilient, tough] means, which is 坚持 [perseverance] and 强大 [powerful, formidable]. Welcome to China, Israeli President Peres!

哦原来名字可以打这么长丫:

After using [呵呵], your entire Weibo post became noble and cool [呵呵]

Damn….and we were just talking about Jewish names last post.
The netizins posts are quite ….surprising, charming even. I have to keep reminding myself about how ..unworldly Chinese people can be. one minute they’ll be talking about how they admire the Israelis , the next they’ll be talking about what a strong leader Hitler was….
[I really like the Chinese name for Hitler though, ha hahahha!]

    • Mighty曹

      Jews are trending. :D

    • Insomnicide

Admiration is for the positive traits of people. They admire Hitler’s rise to power and his transformation of Germany from a bankrupt dying nation to a strong and robust war machine.

Just like how people admired Genghis Khan and Joseph Stalin, not because of their misdeeds but their abilities and talents.

      • Surfeit

There is nothing admirable about barbarism and closed minded opinion.

      • Zappa Frank

actually if my memory is correct was not hitler to trasform germany from bankrupt dying nation to a strong country.. but for sure germandude know more about this..

  • Zappa Frank

not surprising. israel is trying hard to be in good terms with china while the relations with usa are getting worse and worse recently.. the use of weibo is not casual

    • Mighty曹

USA and Israel are like a husband and wife or a big brother and his little brother, who occasionally have disagreement but will never divorce or disown each other.

      • Anus Presley

That’s true. The U.S has stood alone in the World in preventing (by use of it’s power of automatic veto at the Security Council) a peaceful settlement of the conflict along lines agreed by the whole of the International Community under U.N Resolution 242. The U.S government stands alone in the World in supporting Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, and land-grab.
        Shame on them!

        • Surfeit

          Fact.

        • Mighty曹

Washington DC is highly influenced by the Fortune 500, which is heavily dominated by Jews.

        • A Gawd Dang Mongolian

U.S has Israel stirring up shit and tries to reign them in(with no success)

China has North Korea stirring up shit and tries to reign them in(with no success)

Maybe this is the start of an ‘Annoying Ally Swapping Party’

      • Markus Peg

I agree with that. The USA Israel relationship isn’t going to change anytime soon…

      • RaphaeI

no, the relation is more like a dog and its tail … a surprisingly sentient tail.

        • Mighty曹

But who is chasing whom? lol

      • whuddyasack

Agreed. I don’t think the relationship between these to nations would break. Ever. They are indeed as two brothers.

Funny you should mention husband and wife. I remembered one Japanese foreign minister use that exact same description to describe the relationship between China and Japan further elaborating that both nations are so intertwined that the relationship goes beyong mere friends, enemies or neighbors.

I actually happen to agree. I feel like they’re like squabbling couples and sometimes domestic disputes can get very ugly.

BTW, I’ve nothing against Israelis. I think it would be great to see more solidarity between China and Israel and maybe some day, the whole world can hold hands together. No homo.

        • Mighty曹

Or more like a couple in a love-hate relationship.
Actually I’m pro-Israel and believe in its right to exist. I just don’t agree with some of its policy. Yes, world peace, Baby!

          • whuddyasack

Yes, I think the love-hate relationship really defines the situation for Japan and China if you look at their interactions throughout history. It’s like that Japanese foreign minister said, they are a married pair and nothing can change this reality. What they should be doing is to work together rather than bicker and brood which is always the more tempting route in any fight.

In the case of the US and Israel I’d say boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife squabbling. I don’t think there’s ever a time when either nation were enemies and what’s happening now seems more like one of those fights lovers have.

World peace is good, but given human nature, its almost an impossible dream. There’s only been 250 years where we haven’t been killing each other through wars in the history of our race.

          • Mighty曹

“World Peace”, the dream of all Miss Universe pageant contestants. hahahaha…..

          • whuddyasack

It’s one of those dreams worth fighting for, yet one that ultimately reveals the selfish nature of humans.

  • Mighty曹

I love all the lighthearted top comments.

    • Insomnicide

      Calling old men adorable….

      • Mighty曹

and to take care of they body and health. LOL

        • whuddyasack

Even for me, it was hard to tell if serious or juz trolling lol.

          • Mighty曹

            I’m sure there’s a level of sarcasm. :D

  • In the game of negotiation….does the Jew or the cheap Chinese win?…or do they just annoy each other to death?

    • Mighty曹

Your omission of ‘cheap’ preceding ‘Jew’ makes the two words synonymous.

    • death_by_ivory

A hard one.I can tell you from experience there are no winners in that game.

    • Markus Peg

The bit about Chinese and Indians doing business is funny (about 1:30 in)

  • Insomnicide

The Israeli government is pretty ideal, strong and efficient yet democratic, nationalistic and protective of it’s citizen’s interests.

    • Surfeit

      Ideal, strong, democratic…

    • Mighty曹

I’ve always admired how such a tiny nation state surrounded by hostile Arab neighbors manage to emerge victorious in wars but now beginning to see how they’ve forgotten the Holocaust in their treatment of the Palestinians.

      • David

I don’t think any honest comparison between what is happening with the Palestinians and the Holocaust can be made. Israel has a population of 8,000,000 and about 1,600,000 are Arab with that segment of the population increasing faster than the Jewish part (with a 2.4% growth over last year, versus 1.8% growth for the Jewish population), they are not being hunted down and systematically eliminated. If you want to say there is some resentment, anger and even discrimination by some Jews in Israel fine, but that is a far cry from genocide. Stats were found here.
        http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Society_&_Culture/newpop.html

        • Zappa Frank

still it look like an apartheid.. and you should not consider just arabs in israel, but also in territories and gaza since those places are stricly controlled by israelians.. this change a lot the picture

        • Where is the difference to apartheid in South Africa?
It is exactly the same? A foreign group of people invades the country and takes away all the resources and moves the local people into ghettos, while the new lords enjoy a prosperous life.

        • Mighty曹

I didn’t say it’s comparable. I simply meant that for a nation born of atrocities they should know better to mistreat the Palestinians.

Here’s a UNICEF report of how the military’s operation. No wonder these kids grow up to hate Jews with a passion.
          http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/10/31/israels-mistreatment-of-palestinian-children/

    • death_by_ivory

It seems that you never lived in Israel.I did.Believe me the government is far from ideal.

    • Anus Presley

Yeah, if you happen to be Jewish then your interests are protected in Israel. Though not all Israelis are Jewish, and the racial discrimination against these people is well documented. Not to mention the Apartheid system in place in the occupied territories.

      • David

Should we talk about how open and democratic the Gaza strip is? If you disagree with the men with guns, they shoot you.

        • Zappa Frank

so there is the right to oppress them because they are not democratic? Gaza is a tragedy yes, but it is also due to the isrealians they are in that situation. We should not forgot that was israel to push out the moderates from Gaza making them seem useless for the protection of the population and than giving no other choice than accept hamas as leader

      • Insomnicide

I’d rather have a government that protects the interests of the majority, than one that protects the interests of no one but itself.

      • Thou also shall not be black Jewish from Ethiopia.

Those people face a lot of obvious racism from
        the other Russians (Jews).
The biggest hoax ever. 80% of them have no
links to the middle east. They are Khazar.
Also Jewish are not a race. Only Hitler called them
a race. They are a religious group and as much a
race like any Jehovah’s Witnesses or Scientologists.

  • Surfeit

“During World War II, China took in a lot of Jewish refugees helping them avoid the disaster of war, and now this ethnicity truly knows how to be thankful.”

Yes, them Jews avoided disaster between 1936-44 for sure. Especially the Israeli ones YEP YEP YARRRR!

    • Zappa Frank

yes i remember i’ve read about vessels and vessels of jewish that were going in china in the late ’30s.. hahaha

      • ClausRasmussen

China took in about 18.000 jewish refugees in the late 30’s and early 40’s. They settled mainly in Shanghai that was an open city at the time without any restrictions on immigration.

The refugees was aided by Chinese diplomats and later (during the war) also by a Japanese diplomat based in Lithuania.

        • Zappa Frank

18.000 on 6 milion dead.. not that much.. barely notable.

          • Rnr2

But they still received way more jewish refugees than any European state. Before the war the german jews tried to get away. But they were unwanted everywhere in Europe. I would be suprised if any European county willingly accepted more than 18.000 jewish refugees in the 1930`s . China`s help may only have been a drop in the bucket. Sadly that it more help than they got in Europe.

          • Zappa Frank

please… stop with that, seems you know little of what you talk about. Jewish in the ’30s were not refugees since there wasn’t any war.. they where just start to be persecuted in Germany and they escaped from Germany going everywhere, mostly in the US, but everywhere and yes, also in Europe since in the other Europeans countries there were already MILIONS of Jewish… than is not clear exactly how Europe wasn’t helping about since it wasn’t that all eurpeans countries had racial laws and persecuted Jewish..
China got 18k jewish, good for them. but don’t make it seems the only light in the dark, it’s just a glass of water in an ocean.

  • Markus Peg

Quote “Israel or Pakistan, these are the true brothers of China.”
    …..seriously..?…….

    • Kai

Heh, yeah, I hate it when people whip out the melodratic hyperboles in such geopolitical contexts. It’s like when some Chinese netizens wax fondly about Russia (only for some other netizens to roundly criticize Russia on some other topic).

  • The president of the most racist country in the world visits and the Chinese thinks he’s a saint.

    • Insomnicide

      He’s not Netanyahu.

    • HymietownHero

Come on, with the exception of Yitzhak Rabin, Peres has made the biggest pushes for peace and reconciliation, as an Israeli President. Someone’s gotta be the President of Israel. Doesn’t make the man an automatic bastard.

  • stevelaudig

Keep in mind he is a paid agent propagandizing for the war crimes committed by the Zionists against the Palestinians. It doesn’t matter how ‘old’ he is. Everyone gets old. He doesn’t have to be a war criminal.

    • bujiebuke

Israel’s continued mistreatment of the Palestinians only serves to delegitimizes the Jewish state. I suppose they need every friend that they can get as their relationship with the U.S. freys. I just don’t quite understand what China has to gain by getting involved in the Zionist-Palestinian conflict…

      • Insomnicide

China still supports an independent Palestine, so they have nothing to gain from it. While the US supports full Israeli annexation of Palestinian territories…

        • Zappa Frank

i remember US were for 2 states..

          • bujiebuke

yes, same here. Perhaps Insomnicide can link an article to support his claim.

          • Insomnicide
          • Anus Presley

They are, on paper. But in reality they’ve been blocking a two state solution every year for the past 46 years. Google ‘Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine’ and you’ll see that the U.S has stood alone in the World in preventing a peaceful settlement based on two states, as outlined in U.N Resolution 242. Every year the whole of the international community votes on this issue, and every year the vote falls at roughly 165-7 (U.S, Israel, Australia, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Tuvalu, Federated States of Micronesia).

So we have the whole World on one side calling for a peaceful settlement based on a two state solution, and the U.S and Israel on the other side, preventing peace; the U.S using it’s power of automatic veto at the Security
            Council to block a settlement.

Although Israel and the U.S will have fewer supporters casting votes against U.N 242 when Vanuatu, Tuvalu, and the Marshall Islands eventually disappear under the sea, as they’re predicted to do, as a result of global warming.

      • David

So every country who mistreats some of its citizens is illegitimate? So, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and every other country in the middle east treatment of Christian AND Muslim women makes them illegitimate and not real countries? (not to mention it would mean Russia, China and even the U.S. in some ways, are not real countries). Also, their relationship with this DEMOCRATIC led presidency has frayed, the American people still overwhelmingly support Israel.

        • bujiebuke

Christians and Muslims in the middle east are indeed mistreated minorities. Their struggle with the majority is to gain equal rights, not to establish a separate state. Stop making false arguments.

The issue that I think stevelaudig was bringing up is that the struggle of the Palestinians mirrors with the struggle that the Jews had during their fight for independence and establish a separate state. Thus, by mistreating the Palestinians in a way that was done to them, it delegitimizes their claim.

I stated that Israel is looking for supports at a time when their relationship with the U.S. was on the wane. Is this not true? I certainly didn’t say that the American people no longer support Israel.

        • Anus Presley

The number of Americans who support Israel is declining every year, most notably amongst the Jewish community.

  • Daniel

China, dont let jew get you too. China and some more countries in asia are free from jew influence today. Make sure it stays that way.

    • hess

      Derpity Derpity DERRRPPPP. Fucking retard.

      • Daniel

Sry jew if I hurt your feelings. But your reply to me shows what kind of people you are. Very strong argument of you, but as they say in Sweden, when you have no arguments you use personal insults.

        • hess

“Very strong argument of you, but as they say in Sweden, when you have no arguments you use personal insults” Yeah, about that. Thats not a Swedish saying at all. The closest thing would be; “Har du inget att säga ska du hålla käft”. “If you don’t have anything better to say you just shut up”. And I do believe I had something better to say.
EDIT: I completely missed you calling me a jew? I’m not even a bit jewish (that i know). But way to go full retard.

          • Daniel

Still wrong, the saying is “När argumenten tryter tar nävarna vid”. If you knew anything about the swedish language then you would know that.

          • hess

hahaha driver du med mig? “If you knew anything about the swedish language then you would know that.”

          • hess

“Ni och sd’are”. “ni” Vilka är “ni”? Svenskar?

Btw mr.wiener, use google translate if you want to understand the conversation between me and this very rational* anti-semit
            *sarcasm

          • mr.wiener

Nah, he’s still speaking “dick” in any language.

          • ClausRasmussen

I think that was uncalled for.

          • mr.wiener

Claus, This guy is spouting anti-Semitic bile and you are upset because i said he is speaking dick?

          • ClausRasmussen

I thought your comment was directed at hess’ correction of my explanation of the pronunciation of Å because your comment came directly after mine.

Then I noticed that the time stamp on your “dick” message preceded my comment. I deleted the comment again (its still there, but now posted at ‘guest’ ?), but too late.

            My apologies.

          • mr.wiener

            No harm no foul mate.

          • Merohedral

I find the “a” with the circle on top a very beautiful letter! How is it pronounced?

          • ClausRasmussen

Å is pronounced like the O in Open .

          • hess

That would apply to the scanian dialect, not rikssvenska (swedish putonghua? haha)

          • ClausRasmussen

Ok, right :-) I am danish. Most of the Swedish I have listened to was from South Sweden.

      • bujiebuke

Are there actual Swedes who posts comments on Chinasmack??

I thought they just spent their days pondering on what animals say. Oh wait that’s Norway. Sorry.

        • hess

Lol. Well you got me and Stefan Xue, where ever he is.

    • mr.wiener

The dumb is strong with this one.

    • Anus Presley

Not all Jews support the crimes of the Israeli government. The occupation is opposed by many Jews in Israel and around the World, Noam Chomsky and Norman Finkelstein being prime examples. The Israeli human rights organization B’TSekem being another one.
Your racist comments are not cool, and they are not helpful.

  • Anus Presley

If daily, routine racial discrimination constitutes ‘being treated well’ in your scheme of things, then we’ll have to agree to disagree.

    • David

As opposed to suppression of their own women and daily mortar attacks on innocent civilians (including fellow Arabs who live there).

      • Zappa Frank

this is false. they do kill arabs with few o no excuse.. just look for some articles of Amira Hass on Ha’arez. Actually they kill a lot of them with very little excuse.

      • Anus Presley

‘The don’t kill those living there unless there’s an immediate threat’?
Really? So killing over 1600 civilians, including over 400 children, during Operation Cast Lead, was justified on what grounds? Bombing schools, hospitals, and U.N safe houses was also justified?
And I suppose you’ll claim that Hamas fighters took refuge in those places. They didn’t; as every subsequent investigation proved.
Also, when the IDF routinely shoots unarmed Palestinian schoolchildren going to and from school, and unarmed, white flag waving women and children – Google it – will you justify that on the grounds of there having being ‘an immediate threat’ too?

      • carmouflagger

im just gonna leave this here

  • Anus Presley

The racists are out in force on this one.
And now we have a holocaust denier chiming in to the mix.

  • David

What is with all the bigoted Israel bashing? It is a cute story showinf the Chinese netizens reactions and half of you sound like you wan to storm the Golan Heights.. I am tired of seeing all the BS about Israel tormenting the poor Palestinians. Nobody wants to see that anti-Semitic crap. Keep it in your own demented minds where it belongs. And no, I am not Jewish.

    • bujiebuke

Why do you call “Israel tormenting the poor Palestinians” BS? You also have to discount the trolls when you make a blanket accusation of “anti-Semetic crap”.

By the way David, I’m still waiting for a response from you ;)

    • FYIADragoon

When you make a blanket statement that all criticism of Israel is “anti-semitic” not only do you discredit yourself, but you insult Jews who actually have to deal with or who have dealt with anti-semitism. Moreover, Israel is not the sole voice of all people who follow the Jewish faith. I’d say educate yourself before talking, but this is the internet, so….

PS Please don’t play that silly “lol jk” defense again. Even though I’m a troll that enjoys trolling ESLs, I’m not joking when I say they’re losers.

      • David

Do you think you sound intelligent when you make comments like that? No joke at all. Learn to read and pull your head out of your ass bigot.

  • David

Are you aware that in many other parts of Asia, where the Chinese have been doing business for centuries, Chinese are considered the influential people who run the banking system (for instance in Thailand). I am sure they can take care of themselves against the “big bad Zionist conspiracy”. Shouldn’t you be busy building a bunker in the side of a mountain and not checking the internet?

  • Insomnicide

You might want to read up on Jews in China.
They’ve been in contact with Jewish people at least since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago.

  • twelve ways

Good luck finding anything to eat that isn’t made with pork!

    • KSC

Ignoramus. There are millions of Muslims in China and I don’t mean in Xinjiang

  • Probotector

    Xi Jinping’s not that bad.

    • Insomnicide

China’s more legal than most countries on this planet.

  • mr.wiener

    Oh dear.
I think your gene pool could use a little chlorine.

  • Chris Granzow XI

We’re witnessing the death of the petrodollar, and the birth of the petro-yuan (via Russian gas contracts). The power and wealth is shifting to the east. Expect a lot more of Israel and Jews cozying up to China and alluding to a non-existent “traditional friendship between us and the Chinese.”

  • Kai

It’s not “news”, it was a trending topic on Weibo.

  • Mighty曹

I know very well how. It’s reflected by my reference to the Fortune 500 above. Yeah, they’re all hard wire to ‘fight for existence’. I respect that.

  • mr.wiener

Hmmm, I tend to agree with you, except we don’t moderate racist or prejudice comments on this site, so I’ll let it stand.
I suppose there is a grain of truth to this steaming midden of a comment in that Chinese, when they move overseas are seen as clannish and business oriented as are Jews [again when you say “Jews” you should say “which Jews?” are we talking about any of the branches of extreme orthodox Jews? Practicing or not practicing? Sephardic or Ashkenazi?]

  • Chris Granzow XI

Idk, it just feels like they’re playing both sides of the field most of the time. If things in the west go bad, they’ll side with China. If things in China go bad, they’ll side with the west and say that they were against China all along.

    • Alex Dương

They’re acting in their national self-interest to do that. Why shouldn’t they?

  • Anus Presley

Yes they are, and just because you didn’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Israeli Arabs inside Israel proper are subjected to discrimination related to everything from building and housing permits, economic inequality, education, and basic human rights.

  • Anus Presley

No it isn’t. Israel was founded on racism. Zionism is based on Ethnic Nationalism, which is as racist an ideology as you can find.

The only other country that comes close to Israel in terms of racism is Australia.

    • This comment is so hilariously ignorant. Australia and Israel––the two most racist countries? Don’t make me laugh. You obviously haven’t spent much time on chinaSMACK, let alone koreaBANG and japanCRUSH. Nor are you evidently at all familiar with society in Eastern Europe (especially Russia) or the Arabian gulf (go ask some Asian migrant guest workers what they think about racism in places like the UAE and Saudi Arabia).

I have news for you: Most European countries are implicitly based on ethnic nationalism. Serbia is the nation of ethnic Serbs. Poland is the nation of ethnic Poles. Finland is the nation of ethnic Finns. And it’s not just Europe. Korea is the nation of ethnic Koreans. Japan is the nation of ethnic Japanese. Malaysia is the nation of ethnic Malays.

There is absolutely nothing unique about Israel being characterized as a nation based on a predominant ethnic group. What is truly racist is to argue that Jews don’t have the same right to nationhood as Armenians and Georgians.

Sure they have the same right…and so do the Palestinians.

  • Barack Obama

I must say i have never met any Jews i truly disliked. they tend to me a little cheap i guess, but that’s their right, and if you have a problem with that you can go cry to your mommy about it. They are smart and crafty but they’re not “out to get you.” And why shouldn’t Israel have a right to exist? It is such a small country…

What most people don’t seem to understand is that they are surrounded by extremely hostile neighbors that are out to completely annihilate them. With such eminent dangers and being in constant threat of, if not already in the process of, war I can understand their behavior most of the time (not that I agree with everything they do) and you need to put yourself in their situation. They are doing most of what they do out of a necessity for the sake of survival and they act a little crazy sometimes because of it. As for the land grabbing, well i do think they can share the land with their arab population. Also I think they need to get rid of their zionist religion, as all religion is bad.

  • Barack Obama

No, they left their homeland because they fought a major war with the Romans because of (i presume very heavy) taxation and lost. Subsequently, their city states were completely destroyed and that forced them to disperse throughout Europe. This was one of the major turning points in history for them and was tremendously devastating on their civilization.

  • Surfeit

You are right. Those are the facts.

I’m mocking the premise of a state’s actions explained as an ethnicity being thankful. During that period the Jewish community was as close to disaster as I can feasibly imagine. To think Israel’s modern international actions are an immediate reflection of gratefulness to China for opening it’s door to Jews during that time, is … I can’t think of the right word.

I didn’t do a good job before, and it’s not much better now. I guess in the end I just find the wording of the comment amusing somehow. Hope I didn’t ruffle your feathers.

Why are these Chinese people so supportive of Israel? I thought the PRC was more closely aligned with Arab and Muslim countries historically and even in modern times…
