A doctor in the neurology department at the Huizhou Longmen County People’s Hospital who had her right thumb and index finger cut off in an attack from a patient has received over 20,000 RMB in donations from hospital workers and non-medical personnel alike. Ou Lizhi was writing out a prescription when she was approached by her patient Mr. Liao, who had a headache and wanted immediate attention.     The hospital isn’t liable? I would think they would at least be insured against such things. 20k from the hospital and donations is a sorry amount to give a woman whose only crime was trying to do her job and help people.

    This story seems a bit hinky.
    Its hard to believe there was no prior conflict before this guy produces a big(one assumes) knife and starts whacking off digits. Just the possession of said big knife in a hospital setting all kindsa points toward pre-planning of the attack…
