Government Official Caught Swimming During Work, Nude

A government official in Dongyang was caught swimming in the city’s resevoir by the Commission for Discipline Inspection, the department responsible for supervising and punishing official misconduct. Not only was he doing so during working hours, he was also doing so completely nude, in a resevoir connected to the city’s water system where swimming is expressly prohibited. The official apparently has a habit of going swimming when he should be working, at least until someone finally reported him. The top netizen comment punned him as a “naked official”, a term usually used to refer to officials whose families have emigrated abroad.

We are all drinking from waters that have washed the privates of our civil servant masters…
There is a metaphor in here somewhere, but I’m damned if I can find it.

    • Mighty曹

      Metaphor morphed into truth.

    • Vance

It doesn’t sound like a metaphor. It sounds like you actually are, especially if you live in that town. Now, when I do go, I will follow the universal advise to not drink tap water in another country.

  • I’ll translate some of the top comments:

    网易重庆市手机网友 毒师:

    A naked official.

A two-and-a-half-years-old boy is quite clever and frequently gives his father water to drink with his toy cup. The father would triumphantly look at his wife and chug the whole thing every single time. The mother would then only watch and not say anything…until one day, the mother suddenly asks her husband: “You know what?” “What?” “In this entire house, the only place that has water he can actually reach…is the toilet…”

Swimming while on the job is, at most, equaled to skipping work, like students who skip class. Warn and reprimand!

Skinny dipping??? He moves in the water like a naked-ass fruit, he has such good posture.

Actually, we should upvote this official: 1) he didn’t spend any money, 2) didn’t use any official vehicles for personal purposes, 3) didn’t have sex with anyone.
But there is still room for improvement, 1) swim in a river instead of the water supply, 2)put on swim trunks, 3) don’t let anyone know

Remember when this site used to get 200, 300, 400 comments per article? Format sucks. Doornails!

  • What is going on here? Do I stop patreon? Do I move on? Just what the hell has happened?

    • Alex Dương

The site is undergoing a transition. The plan is still to translate what’s popular and trending in China, including the associated comments, but these shorter articles are part of the change. Kai and Fauna are busy managing the transition as well as other stuff IRL; they’ll make a formal announcement shortly.

I wan’t to comment here. Take your ‘mod’ badge off, it doesn’t command respect.

“ChinaSMACK is currently going through some changes”.

It might work if it is additional material as opposed to replacing some of the other stuff the people here seem to like. I enjoyed reading the article and comment translations because I am here in part to learn about Chinese people and they really reveal themselves there while the style of their media is shown in the article translations. It is diffrent from most of the media here. While occasinally the CS commenters would discuss the Chinese Netizen comments, mostly the just commented on the article material to…well…smack China. That can be done very well from these summaries. I just hope that the content is not replaced by the summaries.

I think more and more gov’t officials are going to have to actually work for a living now that Xi has everyone’s pubes in a knot. Bet this guy gets fired or fined soon.

I just thought they were two different people, but maybe I’m simple that way.
