Haikou Officials Clean Streets In Voluntary Labor Activity

Government officials in Haikou have taken part in a voluntary labor activity as part of the Mid-Autumn Festival and PRC National Day celebrations. Haikou Municipal Committee secretary Sun Xinyang and three other Haikou high officials led a group of government workers on a clean-up operation of the city. Sun said that sanitation workers do this daily, and the activity is a way to show respect for and empathize with their hard work. Netizens thought the activity phony, with one saying, “Hehe. Lame. Increasing sanitation-worker wages would be 100 times better than this charade.”
