Korean President Expresses Hope For Unification At Opening
South Korean President Park Geun-hye has expressed her hope for unification with North Korea during a “re-opening ceremony” of a building in Shanghai which was formerly home to the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. After cutting the ribbon with Shanghai mayor Yang Xiong and South Korea’s Chinese ambassador Qiu Guohong, Park wrote, “I will carry on in the spirit of a patriotic martyr and bring about peace and unification in the Korean Peninsula.” The provisional government was established from 1919-1948, largely during the Japanese occupation of Korea. One netizen said, “Kim Jong-un won’t be happy.”
