Police Mock Civil Affairs Bureau Over ID Handling
Local police wrote a letter to the Lengshuijiang Civil Affairs Bureau asking them to actually do their job after an elderly man who had lost his ID was told by the CAB to go to his local station to get a new one. The letter stated that central authorities had repeatedly emphasized the need to reduce hassle for residents, and that issuing a senior citizen’s pass was well within the CAB’s capabilities. It also said that although it wasn’t Lengshuijiang police’s responsibility to issue the ID, they felt obliged to as otherwise no-one would do it. Many netizens praised the police for its actions.

This is a rare sign of police actually doing their jobs. Good on them.
