Shooting of Rampaging Fisherman Declared Lawful

The shooting of a fisherman who severely damaged two Marine Department law enforcement ships with a steel bar has been declared lawful after Zhijin County Propaganda Department said it was in accordance with official regulations on the use of police instruments and weapons. Kong Weifu attacked the vessels after his father’s rotting wooden fishing boat was destroyed by the government without prior notice due to safety concerns. Police shot Kong dead when he swung the bar at an officer and ignored pleas and warning shots urging him to stop. One netizen couldn’t understand why every shooting had to end in death.

I know your average police officer in China doesn’t carry a gun, but do they carry tasers or pepper spray? I’ve never seen nor heard of any attempts to subdue criminals with anything other than guns or bare hands.
