Young Female Tourist Sits On Cultural Relic To Take Selfies

Young Female Tourist Sits On Cultural Relic To Take SelfiesA young female tourist was caught on camera posing for selfies whilst on top of an historic stone elephant at the Ming Tombs in Nanjing. Resident Mr. Xu said the girl was quite content at the World Heritage Site as she spent five minutes changing her pose to take ever more pictures and upload them onto social media, the whole time being oblivious to the adjacent sign which read, “Please do not climb on the stone elephant”. By law, minor damage to protected relics can attract fines of up to 200 RMB. One netizen said they saw masses of people treading on the Great Wall, with others even selling tickets for it.

I like the one translated netizen comment we were allocated for this piece. Wonder if that netizen is aware that 30% of the Great Wall has just mysteriously disappeared?

The main tourist part of the Great Wall is all reconstructed. . not original at all. The original parts are understandably not much more than a pile of rubble.

    • Zappa Frank

not that understandably since many other even more ancient buildings are in good conditions.
