Comic: Girlfriend Asks Boyfriend Why He Likes Her

A girlfriend asks her boyfriend a question: why do you like me?

The following comic about a girlfriend asking her boyfriend why he likes her and what he sees in her is a trending microblog post on Chinese social network Sina Weibo. It was posted by Chinese netizen @妖妖小精, who currently has over 3.3 million followers.

We have translated her popular posts twice before, one involving faithful dog of a Korean granny and the other about the memory of a dead Korean wife.

Similarly, this post also originated from Korea, and specifically from a Korean comic.

Presumably the original Korean has been translated into Chinese (and here now translated from Chinese into English), but it has also been edited from the original…

From Sina Weibo:

@妖妖小精: Darling~~~ why were you attracted to me~~?

Comments from Sina Weibo:

[喵喵] It has been a long time since I’ve seen such an appealing comic strip first thing in the morning!!

Love that goes too fast is like a tornado [lyrics to a Jay Chou song]

Silly child, who said I like you? [爱你]

I really did break up with my girlfriend because of this.

ffffff group comes to congratulate.

Hahahahaha! The artist must be a lifelong VIP member of the singles club!

A warm breeze on a bitterly cold day, warming the hearts of all dogs. Happy. [笑cry]

[喵喵] Claps in gratification.

I’ve really done such a thing… An ex-boyfriend one day asked me, “How come you don’t care a bit about me after we’ve gotten together> I think you need to think about why we are together.” I thought for a whole night, and apart from his looks, there was nothing else about him that attracted me, so the next day I brought up breaking up…

Godly/legendary ending [doge] I like [doge]

  • Good thing she had the courage to ask this question Before getting married.
Don’t worry Fauna, Everything will be OK!

No,it’s not. Life is full of misery… don’t sugar coat the truth. She will have to face real world sooner or later ….

      • OK – You’re right – Life can be challenging/difficult.
Even more of a reason to Enjoy those days that do not bring misery or loss. Peace!

Life is not full of misery. Your reading too much Nietzsche (which is any Nietzsche at all). Life is full of many things. If you have self confidence and don’t mind doing a little hard work, life can be full of the most wonderful things. Do a job you love (and do it well so you have pride). Be with friends you like (who will challenge you). Have hobbies that make you feel fulfilled and happy. Date or marry a person that makes you happy. It is not rocket science.

Miserable people will have miserable lives.

          • Small twon

I wish I am miserable because I didn’t do positive thinking.
Seriously, I am not trolling and I really wish I can agree with you guys but sometimes things(I don’t wanna use s-word) happen in life and we have to deal with it.

          • biggj

Well for sure shit happens. It’s hard to think positive with bullshit going on all the time…but thinking negative wont help…at least trying to think positive will…and well if that doesnt work….do drugs :) A great way to mask the pain for a little while. Smoke a bit a weed. Just dont do hallucinogens when your upset….Now I don’t promote the use of drugs, I just encourage it.

          • Surfeit

            HA! Radiohead are filthy rich!

          • biggj

            They not miserable…just melancholy lol

  • Mihel

The less pretty girls that could have wanted him, he didn’t want.
The prettier girls he would have liked, they didn’t want him.

She was both a) pretty enough and b) willing to be with him.

    • Sophia Dalke

Yeah with no consideration for anything that makes people actually valuable, like character, intelligence, talent, or personality.

      • Luke the Duke

‘Yeah with no consideration for anything that makes people actually valuable’

To you. Different people value different things.

        • Sophia Dalke

There is a reason that ‘superficial’ is a pejorative. Of course some people are going to prioritize value of superficial things; however that can be axiologically demonstrated to be unwise.

          • Luke the Duke

Again, that depends what you want out of the relationship.

      • Mihel

I wouldn’t say things like intelligence and personality are not taken in consideration when choosing a girlfriend, but the wast majority of people value girls by their looks first.

        • Sophia Dalke

Something has to separate the top from the middle and the bottom of the bell curve, as always.

          • Luke the Duke

            >implying that girls don’t care about guys looks

      • Jahar

I know a girl who just married a guy she met 2 months earlier. She Just had one requirement for a husband it seems; an equal level of desperation.

  • AbC

I can’t say I’ve been with many girls, but every girl I’ve dated (including my wife) has asked me that question at least once. Just a way women fish for compliments…
I’d be surprised if any guy here in a long term relationship hadn’t been asked the same question by their partner.

    • Zappa Frank

that’s what makes the comic great, because anyone can see himself in the question.

    • mr.wiener

Cue the photo of admiral Ackbar:”IT’S A TRAP!!”

    • Surfeit

I haven’t! One of her friends asked once. *Cue that awkward dinner table moment for my ineptitude around females.*

Needless to say, I think that ship has sailed without stepping on board.

  • UserID01

I guess it’s a good thing they decided not to waste each other’s time in the end, then!

  • Luke the Duke

My ex used to ask me this question and then bitch that my answers weren’t unique to her. I probably should have tried this answer.

    • Surfeit

      Well rid, brother.

  • FYIADragoon

That’s one of those questions where you can never deliver an answer that satisfies her at the moment. Turn it around though and she won’t be able to do it either. Relationships are illogical things, so if I can actually logically break down why I’m dating someone with specific details rather than generalizations, I would probably need to break up with them.

  • That’s marvelous

I thought the cartoon was being sarcastic.

You people really don’t know why you like someone? :O

    • Surfeit

Don’t know, don’t care; Good is good, not good because.

    • Jahar

It seems in China(for the most part) having a significant other is more important than anything about them.

  • Jahar

I like how they give credit to the Chinese poster, and not the artists who made the comics in the first place.
