Pretty Passenger Gets to Sit in Cockpit on Overbooked Flight

From NetEase:

Young Woman Gets to Sit in Cockpit for Overbooked Flight Home

On March 3rd, a group of photos exploded on Weibo where, on a flight from Taipei to Hong Kong, due to an overbooked flight, and with the captain’s permission, a young woman sat in the cockpit of a passenger plane to return home and used her mobile phone to record the take off and landing of the plane.

Afterward, the woman involved replied on Weibo: To popularize aviation knowledge: 1, When a flight is overbooked and with the permission of the captain, relatives of employees and healthy, qualified individuals can definitely sit in the rear cockpit seats. 2, Every airline has different requirements concerning electronic devices, whether they must be completely shut off or switched to flight-mode, and different companies are different, so if you also have a relative who is an employee of this airline, and they are willing to apply for for an employee ticket for you, and the flight happens to be overbooked, you too can do the same thing! Photo is of the cockpit taken by the young woman.

So [the pilot saying the plane is] encountering turbulence was all taking advantage of my ignorance.

A beautiful female passenger. If it were Sister Feng, I bet she wouldn’t even be able to get on the plane.

网易河北省邯郸市手机网友 ip:106.117.*.*

Bullshit, how could they [the airline/ticket booking] not know just how many seats there are? Filled but still selling tickets? Who are they trying to deceive?!

不飞则已v5 [网易山西省太原市手机网友]:

Indian Railways railway is one of India’s few state-owned enterprises, and nationalized enterprises have their profits restricted. Most of India’s trains are free, where you can board whenever you please, and disembark whenever you please. Even though it relies on the Indian government’s subsidies every year, Indian Railways has always refused to sell train tickets for profit. Indian Railway’s president Lakeshi Mohan has said that the railway that taxpayers built should serve the Indian people for free.

非洲和尚0 [网易广东省佛山市网友]:

This should be against regulations. What if the beautiful woman is a terrorist? After all, it isn’t required that terrorists keep long beards.

3790835280 [网易美国手机网友]:

This is definitely not allowed, a serious violation of the rules, and I strongly demand that the pilot be fired!

林金祖 [网易意大利手机网友]:

Beautiful woman, obviously.

wierz [网易香港手机网友]:

Last time when a Malaysian Airlines or AirAsia pilot let a woman freely enter the cockpit, wasn’t he sacked?

At least, you keep mum and enjoy the ride in silence: posting her pics was stupid and unnecessary.

Some people like to rock the boat and make a wave, it’s one of the advantages of being alive, when you’re dead you make no waves.

    • mr.wiener

tru dat…. what was her intention , show she got stuff because she was prettyor get noteriety?

      • ESL Ninja

She was probably just chuffed that she was in the cockpit, I would have taken photos too if it were me.

    • Free Man

And if you by accident would have been placed in the cockpit, you would just shut up afterwards and make it a top secret thing?

Ever heard about social media or how its used? People show their stuff all the time, so what is wrong with this one?

      • Zen my Ass

I would ask myself and the pilot a few questions beforehand, to make sure it’s perfectly safe and legal for a passenger to stay in the cockpit… you know, questions…

        • Free Man

Agreed, But who said the lady didnt ask?

          • Zen my Ass

Ok, maybe she did and she asked for the permission to post some pics online as well… either way, I hope the pilot gets fired.

    • mike921

Just like the rest of them, she wanted others to be jealous of her. When there are 1.3B of anything, it’s difficult to be special….

Wonder which 40+yo tycoon will snatch up this one (didn’t take the milk tea girl long to score a billionaire).
Can’t think of any other reason why she would post her face on Weibo knowing this article would be high circulated. Unless she intends to get the pilot/airline in trouble..

    • Mateusz82

Maybe you’re overthinking… could be just vanity. Lots of Chinese girls are obsessed with taking, and posting, selfies.

      • Jahar

girls in general do that shit.

        • Paul Schoe

          and (Chinese?) boys nowadays.
We used to make pictures of girls but from what I see, many boys find themselves now a more suitable subject for pictures.

  • guest

That’s a bit of a rough landing, or is that that it is like in the cockpit.

  • yurah

The privileges of being beautiful, its a shame none of us here will experience it…

Too bad it wasn’t in a CockPit of a flight to BangCock.

Your obsession with cocks is very evident.

        • Jahar

          27th, isn’t it?

          • Boris

            Increased to 30 now.

    • Mighty曹

yeah, I would only put her in the ‘decent’ category.

      • Sophia Dalke

        You should be so lucky…

But yeah, she’s cute but a bit gaunt.

        • left nut

I would agree with Mighty on this… she is not offensive to the eyes but to call her a beauty… meh… all personal opinions/standards (per Germandude)

Personal nitpick… in her picture you can see she is opening her eye a big as she can… Asian thing… again just a personal comment not looking to debate why they do that…

          • KamikaziPilot

I also don’t think the shape of her face is attractive. I like a rounder, fuller face, not the skeleton look. And she kind of reminds me of the chinese girls before and after makeup story. Then again many people probably consider me a horseface so I’m not saying I’m better than her in the looks department.

          • left nut

Yeah I don’t claim to a catch either, as I make my comments.

Face shape wise I prefer the slim faces.

          • 宋易

            1. Men can be horsefaces and not have a terrible life.

            2. I like round faces too, and all my Chinese friends and acquaintances tell me it is “too ugly.”

          • KamikaziPilot

            1. Yeah I know, some Chinese just jokingly call me that because my face is long, not ugly.
            2. Round faces are cute for girls, guys not so much. Sounds familiar, although most Chinese have fairly round faces, it doesn’t seem to be the ideal sense of beauty/handsomeness among them.

          • Guang Xiang

It builds character and makes you easily recognizable, I bet you’re really cool to hang around

          • KamikaziPilot

Easily recognizable? Well I don’t know about that. Based on my experiences of often being mistaken for other people, I may have what some call a “common face”. Yeah, I’m extremely cool to hang out with.

          • Escalante

all too often those raised eyebrows are the dead giveaway that they want their eyes to seem bigger than they really are. im not a big fan of the typical bambi deer caught in the headlights expression. makes me me feel their personality is disingenuous as well.

          • left nut

            Good articulation!

          • 宋易

Yeah, they are really uptight about having small eyes. I never noticed East Asians’ eyes appear smaller until Chinese pointed it out to me.

          • Vance

Do they realize that the shape of their eyes is the most common way that people in the rest of the world know that someone is east Asian?

          • 宋易

They might only be aware of it only so much as you are aware of the significance of the shape of YOUR eyes.

But I’m not talking about shape. I’m saying it never occurred to me that East Asians have small-ish looking eyes until I moved to China and heard Chinese complain about how small their own eyes are.

        • Mighty曹

I put you in the ‘Hot’ category.

    • takasar1

      the definition of the majority

    • Guang Xiang

Came here expecting a comment on her not being that pretty.

Sorry, but this is the definition of pretty for the majority of Asians.

      • 宋易

Yeah, she is pretty, but not outrageously beautiful.

I’m pretty sure Germandude would hit that.

        • Germandude

You are pretty wrong with your assumption. I am not saying she is ugly but she ain’t pretty in my eyes. Tastes are different u know?

          • 宋易

you really wouldnt slap her face with your dick? or at least get a happy ending from her? come ooooooon

          • mr.wiener

I think you have been watching too much porn.
In the real world I’d look at a girl [somewhat wistfully as I am married] and think what might have been and could have been….but I’d hazard to say most guys wouldn’t have your first response, which if you’ll pardon me saying, sounds like someone who hates women.

          • 宋易

thats because you have no idea what i allow women to do to ME.

or just taking my words too seriously. :-D

          • Sophia Dalke

*cough* Some people like it rough. It’s as the song says, “Some of them want to abuse you/Some of them want to be abused.” I don’t think somebody necessarily hates women just because they like to be rough or dominant.

          • 宋易

and people who like to be rough or dominant dont have to *always* be so.

          • Germandude

No and no. And no again, I wouldn’t come oooooon….her

      • 宋易

Also, I remember you saying the same thing about the Male God in the library a few months ago. I believe you on both counts.

    • Stefan

      You don’t think she’s pretty??

  • tonkotsu

Are you guys going to write an article on the birth / pregnancy housing centers getting raided in California?

    • David

I would love to see the reaction of Chinese netizens to that.

  • Mighty曹

Looks like another ‘news story’ blown out of proportion. My ex is a flight attendant and I’ve learned a lot from her about the aviation industry. From what I see is that this female passenger is most likely a Cathay Pacific employee (or its alliance member). If you look at the boarding pass you’ll notice the seat ‘JMP’, which is an abbreviation for ‘Jump Seat’. (A jump seat is the ones you see folded up and only used by the staff during take offs and landings).

Usually an employee or family member is listed on stand-by and only assigned a seat at the gate according to availability after all passengers have been issued seating. If the flight is full then the employee has the option to take a jump seat.

This seems to be the case and also explains the ‘beauty’.

    • left nut

You are 100% on this… however some airlines have policies to not allow access to the jump seats… confirmed by my sister 15+ year as a UA staffer.

      • Mighty曹

My ex is also with UA and based (they call it “domiciled”) in HK. They was an instance when she needed to fill in for another flight attendant who couldn’t make the return trip from SFO to HKG the next day. So she had to ‘jumpseat’ to SFO to fill in for her.

    • KamikaziPilot

Hope you milked her for as many discounted (free) flights as you could during that time.

      • YourSupremeCommander

Milk her… LMFAO, you funny bro.

      • Mighty曹

I sure did. I got spoiled flying Business and First Class. There were only two things I didn’t like:
        1) Waiting at the gate for my name to be called. As each name, other than mine, was called my heart would beat faster. LOL! But… of the hundreds of such ‘free’ flights I’ve flown only twice I was not able to board.
        2) Damn dress code. Dress shoes, slacks, sleeved shirts and a fucking sports coat/blazer, in any weather! Now I won’t fly in anything but a warm up suit.

  • stevelaudig

It is a bigotry. It’s name is “beautyism”. the pilot showed remarkably poor judgment in a non-emergency situation. Asking for special treatment shows a certain form of stupidity, granting it shows another form of stupidity. Publicizing that you got special treatment is deeply stupid. So a near perfect storm of stupid.

    • Sophia Dalke

You sound bitter and jelly. Not everybody wins the genetic lottery and gets to be pretty. Let the ones that do enjoy themselves.

(And to head off any implication, I definitely don’t think I’m pretty, so I’m not advocating for myself here.)

      • David

But Sophia, you are rocking the naughty librarian look. Many men find that quite appealing. I agree with your point, to make comments about unfair it is is silly. We are people not robots; men and women DO react to people they find attractive. Being jealous of pretty people is as much a waste of time as being jealous of people born smart or people born into a rich family. We do not need to try and cut them down to feel better. Personally I think she is quite pretty for a normal person (as opposed to a professional entertainer).

        • Sophia Dalke

          Pretty isn’t the same as sexy. I didn’t say I wasn’t sexy… ;) And my butt looks amazing in a pencil skirt… :D

          • KamikaziPilot

True, and I think you look better than the girl in the story, she looks like a doll, you look more natural.

          • mr.wiener

            Pictures or it isn’t so.

          • Sophia Dalke

I actually considered it and then I was like, ugh, I don’t want to be that chick that takes *belfies* … :P

          • mr.wiener

Then you have wisdom as well as beauty.

          • Vance

Now you have us guys calling for pics :) Most people have some physical qualities that can be considered above average. It is just a matter of realizing what those are and accenting them. Also us guys do have some different beauty standards. One man’s “so-so” is another man’s “Wow! What a goddess!!”. I understand that women also have different standards for men. Even more varied than for men.

          • Sophia Dalke

I don’t know that it’s so much variance as it is subjectivity. Without meaning any offense and speaking as somebody attracted to men, I think most guys are not particularly physically attractive, and many women develop an emotional attraction instead and sort of ret-con that into a physical attraction after the fact.

          • Vance

That would explain those cases where some woman with the body of a goddess is happy next to an older homely looking dude. Guys are more visually based while women are more emotionally based in their attraction to the opposite sex. You are correct, I think.

          • Sophia Dalke

That is just as often because the guy has fat sacks of cash, but yeah. I think what’s more illustrative of the phenomenon is when you see independently wealthy actresses with homely guys… like have you seen Christina Hendricks’ husband? I mean wow… the woman looks like and he … well…×340.jpg

All I can say is he must be the sweetest most charming man in history. So while most people think he’s lucky it’s probably Christina who’s luckiest… ^_^

          • Jahar

            I love that guy.

          • David

He is very funny in movies

        • KamikaziPilot

Kind of how like attractive people get more dates and find it easier to make friends. Also if I read correctly allowing the girl into the cockpit wasn’t a safety violation. But then again I would be upset if a person more attractive than myself got a promotion at work solely because of it, so I see where the OP is coming from.

  • redgirls

never mind the bollix, heres the Ramones.,

  • Raymond

Bet she got front row seats to see the pilot operate his yoke.

  • Vance

My own two-bit opinion is that she does look pretty.

  • Ruaraidh

She got that seat because she’s the family of staff, rather than for how she looks. Those pilots are doubtless slaying cabin crew left, right and centre. Why would they be fawning over this girl?

  • FYIADragoon

Judging by her face and figure, I’d wager she knows how a pilot’s stick feels during takeoff and landing too.

I hope the mile high club membership was worth his job.

  • RealisticRealist

You looks like an air-hostess which would explain why she was allowed in the jump seat.

  • 宋易

How do y’all know the pilot isn’t a straight woman? SEXISTS!!!

    • Mighty曹

      Hmmm…. yeah!

  • Anonymous

I was baited by the words “beautiful woman” and came here only to find disappointment.

Did the Chinese invent the Meme?

  • donscarletti

I’d take a ride in her cockpit.

    • Mighty曹

You mean you’ll let her enter your cock pit.

  • Mighty曹

As a matter of fact, it’s mainly used by flight attendants to transit on urgency such as filling in for another one who may have fallen ill for a return flight.

  • Freddi BuBu

Is it just me or are some of these Chinese women you call “beautiful”‘look freakishly doll-like……?

  • Gary

Notice she was given the jump seat “JMP” by the ticket counter crew, not swept in there by the pilots. Also, it’s a 1 hour flight between Hong Kong and Taiwan. Looking at it with US air rules in mind isn’t applicable.

  • Pablo Nutribar

Who cares? I’ve sat in the cockpit almost more times than I can count, and those jumpseats are generally as uncomfortable as f**k. I’d take an economy seat any day of the week.

  • ninkoo

    the stupidity continues…
