They include the May 12 Sichuan Earthquake (black joker), the Beijing Olympics (red joker), the successful launch of Shenzhou #7 (ace of hearts), the Lhasa Tibet riots (ace of spades), etc. All of the cards with some English translation are at EastSouthWestNorth.

LOL, those are awesome comments.
I meant the stories of course, not the cards themselves. Had I designed the cards, the queen of diamonds and hearts would definitely have gone the other way around.
But there was a definite theme to things. It seemed like the spades were all bad news, the clubs had to do with people punished by the police, etc.
