But you know, they have this kind of thing in the cheap toy aisles in convienience drugstores in the US, you know, CVS, Walgreens, those kind. Looks just like real, usually photocopy, with two edits: NOT LEGAL TENDER printed on it and a smaller size than real ones.

i’ve actually seen something very similar on sale in the UK. they didn’t reproduce the security features but they were just copies of banknotes with unauthorised renditions of cartoon characters replacing the queen. i only ever saw them in one shop, and they weren’t there long… presumably a small-time operation run by one or two people (otherwise i’d imagine they’d be in some serious shit)

“Traditionally”, when someone dies, you burn a specific kind of notes for him/her. It is supposedly the currency of the hell, by which the dead can bribe ghost “officials” to avoid abuse. The price is low, too. I think in cities in the south you can get 100 notes for 2kuai.

I don’t like the fact that copycat becoming a trend in China, we need innovation to drive the advantage in world market, and I think we can start it in universities, first thing is removing the party offices from campus to eliminate political influence in academics, if students cannot speak freely, at least allow them to think freely.
