Native groups police themselves in Canada – the Canadian police force has no right to arrest or police on land given to natives.

“that polish immigrant” — eh, uh, “in general” does not mean 100% of the time, of course there are exceptions and surely some corruption and/or abuse of power at some levels.

That being said, I’ve had good experiences with Chinese police for the most part – they certainly *are* lazy and investigations are not really taken seriously, but when it comes to being logical and reasonable in situations that need decisions to resolve given issue, I’ve had good experiences.

It is about time China should establish an independent Police Disciplinary Board in each city, to oversee the misconduct/malpractice of the police force, wherein citizens can file a complaint to the Board against the police wrong doing. Until then,

the goon police will think twice before they dare to bully the ordinary citizens.

Dear Timmy Huang,
I’d wager that you have very little experience with Police here or in other countries. Otherwise you’d know better than to assume that everyone thinks China is the only place with corruption or that Police in all other places are the same. They aren’t, because in some countries there are legitimate channels to air your complaints.

Haaha… they would have had to set up a desk outside to process me after that shit. As a ‘bad laowai’ who has seen the inside of Chinese police stations, I’ve also seen the cops ‘Rodney King’ some suspects a bit.

However, in some cases western cops also seem uncaring in petty cases that ride the edge of the law. Where if you take care of it, then you are the bad guy and get charged.
I got locked out in February by my landlord (while in college) for no other reason than he didn’t like me. WHen I complained to the Police (who knew him and disliked him) at the front desk, the fat female cop asked me what I wanted her to do. She said “You’re a big boy, can’t you deal with it?” (can you imagine the scandal if some good ole boy said that to a female student?)
I bit my tongue because I was on the verge of saying, “If I deal with it ‘BigBoy’ style, you’ll need a dry suit and scuba gear.”

Canadian cops in general are pretty responsive and professional though. I can’t always say the same since I’ve arrived here.

LoL, I love the comments echoing EXACTLY what I was thinking: HE WENT IN?!?

I’d be pretty wary of going in by myself after pulling a stunt like that. It’s pretty funny but it clearly wasn’t for the police. That said, the police could’ve saved themselves the embarrassment just by being professional and either help the man (if they’re supposed to) or kindly help him find those who can (if another organization is where the man should appeal to). Therefore, I’m inclined to agree that the police were just being lazy bastards in this case and the guy has massive testicular fortitude.
