What benefit would there be to grow intentionally crappy fruit over good fruit?

What benefit is there in watering down milk? Money, same as always. If there’s a cheap chemical that will make unfertile land produce this sort of fruit, versus expensive fertilizer that would make better fruit… you see where I’m going with this.

@Rick: Conspiracy theorize much? :-) What benefit would there be to grow intentionally crappy fruit over good fruit? I’m betting they were just a bad batch (or byproduct) from farmers using growth hormones in their fruit.

I’m also guessing they just passed it off to the produce buyer for the supermarket is “lower grade” and sold it real cheap knowing otherwise it would just rot. Supermarkets, always looking to make a deal, would have happily grabbed the ultra cheap fruit, likely unaware of how “low grade” it actually was.

This kinda story is hilarious, but have to wonder whether they’re growing some kind of intentionally fucked up fruit with some seedy intentions or whether the farmers just got fucked over and are trying to pass it along – also whether the whole batch is fucked up like that or just select ones…since it’s “specially priced fruit” and was a few of the items I’d assume it was a bunch.

that its not some kind of accidental mutation of some toxic contamination???

If its just some nutty farmer experimenting with various species, that should be OK. But who knows where and how it was grown.

It needs proper labelling and information about the farm produce.
