Mao Zedong was not that great overall for China. The only good thing he did was unite the country. I’ll give him that! Deng was the brains behind modern China; I thank most people know that as well.

Tsk, tsk… it could be that the translation has left us a bit unappreciative of the extreme form of satire exhibited by the Chinese posters. For example…

Be that it may that many universities sprung forth under Mao’s rule, I too find it a bit ironic to erect massive statues in honor of a man whose Cultural Revolution involved “struggling” against and the purging of intellectuals.

Mao is Chinese version of Napoleon. Either you love him or hate him.
