From Sina:
It is a little over 1am in the morning, but I cannot sleep. I rarely am still on the internet at this time, but since I need to watch the Rockets and Lakers game in the morning, and I am already waiting, I might as well write something!!
For me and for all “Prison Break fans”, the 16th was special. Having bitterly followed over 4 years, “Prison Break” finally lowered its wonderful curtains. Now that I think about it, I am a little amazed that I actually followed a television drama for 4 years, yet perhaps this is the charm of American dramas!! In the scene where Sarah held her child, and Lincoln, Sucre, and Alex one by one walked past Michael’s gravestone, there truly was a kind of happy sadness!! Having watched 4 years of Prison Break, part of me feels unwilling to part with it, yet I have learned a lot of things.
Prison Break was a very popular American TV show for many Chinese people. When a new episode was shown, it was quickly subtitled by Chinese fans so fans in China could watch.

Everything is possible…this television drama was beyond the limits of imagination.
偷蜜的大熊:
As a person, definitely do not be too smart…or just be smart enough.
小hi:
Being able to breathe a breath of freedom is a very blessed thing!
地对地1:
Having used one year to completely watch this 4-year classic, I feel a little regret for not having followed Prison Break from the beginning! However, it must be said, every super fan does not regret it, because it is truly worth it, and we have benefited very much! Thank you…
zhaofuqiang619:
After finishing Prison Break, I came to understand one thing, which is to learn construction.
安静的肖申克:
Four years in a person’s life is not considered a brief period of time, and even less so for a performer/actor!
“Prison Break” not only had extensive scenes, thrilling plots, genuine emotions, I think the most important thing was having an actor like [Wentworth] Miller who silently struggled for ten years before becoming successful moving us. In our hearts, he had long ago already become more than just an idol’s image, and I think he has already become an embodiment of belief/faith/conviction to us.
清馨闲雅:
Typical American prison culture.
All the colored people are in prison.
Only white people can come and go.
海啸1:
A television drama that changed people’s outlook on life, a television drama that can be called a classic, a television drama worth collecting/keeping for the rest of one’s life.
粉面桃花彩妆馆:
Prison Break helped me look at this society in a new way, helped me learn how to face life.
jorsinbenz:
Not bad! A very good feeling!
This television drama helped me learn how to remain calm and to like thinking carefully when encountering a problem!
And also like clam-shell/flip mobile phones!

I can only say that the ending was very hasty/rushed.
To the very end, I was guessing the ending, and in the end, it was truly as I guessed.
Prison Break’s appeal was in never allowing people to know what was going to happen in the next minute, but if you can guess it, then we can only say even the director is out of tricks.
But I won’t be too demanding, it has finally ended!
大大加内特【浴火凤凰】:
That moment was indeed very moving~!
[It made me] think back on each moment of seasons 1-4~!
[It made me] think back on each moment of my own past four years~!
乱的一塌糊涂:
I miss Michael, running for so long, paying so much,
finally making it so everyone can gain their freedom
but himself forever departing from those who love him. Enjoy eternal peace.
I can understand the ending.
纯情年代:
It should have ended with the first season, because that way it would have seemed more perfect!
aiyobu:
It should end, because if it doesn’t, who knows how fat Michael will become.
油绳麻花:
While watching it, I really wanted it to end, but after it ended, I felt as if something was missing.
哥哥用力:
I am a believer in pure alliances, so aside from Alex and the black guy becoming good, I cannot accept the rest, the ending was okay.
fjlinxiangde007:
The ending’s plot was too simple, no new concepts!
In the end Michael’s ending is a bit unexpected, maybe because there is a difference between domestic and foreign [audiences]! Foreigners can appreciate something different from the ideal [ending?], but we advocate reunion!
狂草XX:
No matter how it became towards the end, this was an American drama that was with me throughout university.
I will never have that feeling of [waiting for] an episode every week ever again.
风灵云飘:
Prison Break’s most awesome aspect was dead people being able to come back to life…so, I’m awaiting the fifth season, Michael returns!!!
聋锅:
Actually what disappointed me the most was not seeing T-bag abuse [rape] Sara.
海盗肖邦:
I did not miss a single season!!! Spent four years of my time!!! Much more worth it than all those trash shows from China Taiwan province!!!
sun945:
The ending’s background music
made me want to cry.
飞刀甩尾暴头:
A friend of mine said it well:
From the first season to the end, Lincoln risked death but did not die.
In the end, Michael died…this is life…
月夜清枫:
Prison Break ended today, and after watching it I felt a little strange. I now better understand to value the people I love…American dramas have also established an indispensible place in my heart.
Did you watch Prison Break? What did you think about the ending finale?
Also, some people say Wentworth Miller is gay. Is he gay?

Get a freakin’ life already….
Prison Break seemed like a load of camp nonsense to me.
Oh yeah. First.
Fauna, are you following @awflasher and my Twitter stream? we were just talking about Prison Break in China on Twitter vs. LOST. Are you on Twitter? Would like to follow you back!
I confess I have never even watched Prison Break! Guess I have to, in order to understand what American TV Chinese youth are most interested in!
Only first season is good, rest suck so much.
Only the first season is really just OK… I mean barely watchable. The rest is worthless crap.
Try “The Sopranos” and “The Wire” from HBO, or “Californication” from Showtime, now we’re talking about quality TV.
Thanks for the spoiler, asshole.
Not everyone fucking watches shit the second it shows up on TV or torrent sites.
Maybe a spoiler alert!!! You don’t need to read a word here to feel like you’ve been duped. I’d really advise taking the top image down for anyone who happens not to have seen the end of it. A fan of the site, but not impressed this morning I’m afraid.
J
Seriously, what the hell. no SPOILER ALERT?! I mean, i stopped watching it after the second season, but still, you can’t do that do fans of the show!
Come on, the title is “Chinese Netizens React To End Of Popular “Prison Break”” What did you expect it to be about, middle schoolers\old people\lesbians making out in elevators\the metro\woods?
Yeah but unless you read one word at a time like a 7 year old, by the time you processed that sentence you’d seen the picture at least.
I’m amazed at how popular this show is here, especially considering it pretty much it sucked after the first season.
I have like 12 students whose English name is Michael. I even know an older guy who calls himself Michael Scofield. I like to fuck with them by calling them T-bag instead :)
Never watched a single episode. Watched a couple of commercials for it and it just seemed like the same old crap, prime-time television show theme that had been popular back in the 90’s.
Glad it’s over. Also find the picture at the end pretty funny: a fair-skinned hollywood actor in dirty converse and a worn-out jacket. Is he trying to look garage?
slow news day.
I love Michael, he’s so hot. But this isn’t the best American TV series, have Chinese people not watched Buffy or Firefly?
I second Firefly, but that was only one season, and I don’t think the humor will translate well into Chinese.
24 > prison break.
The Wire > all the rest
Chery, you should know that the actor who plays the character is actually half black. He doesn’t look it though.
They should watch The Wire.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Absolutely agree. Watching it with my girl with English subtitles. Beats the shit out of any show on network TV by heads and shoulders
Never got why all Chinese peeps know and like the show. It’s ok but nothing special imho. I never fell for Lost either,, too much of the same suspense-but-nothing-really-happens over too many episodes plus a shaiteload of boring flashbacks. Heroes is losing steam but is still the winner by a huge margin.
Heroes is better than Prison Break, but better than lost? To me Heroes is for idiotic teenagers.
Didn’t know how to say it.. all was well. Superb!!
Although I felt like it will end happily ever after, it was totally different & entertaining.
Alas.. it was a brilliant program I ever followed so far.
I am a big T-Bag fan!!!
SPOILERS!
(although I suppose the fact that it’s about the end of a TV programme is a warning in itself…)
I agree with The Wire comment. However, there’s a possibility it might not be as popular with the Chinese audience because its themes don’t relate as well to them?
Has there been Chinese dramas involving the prison culture that has been successful as well? It could be that because the mainlanders themselves feel “imprisoned” and have this urge to escape. Which the show allows them to fantasise about? Just a thought really …
Michael is so handsome, I love him. HAHAHA
You guys are jealous.
Interesting point of irony. The quote on Michael’s gravestone, “Be the change you want to see in the world” is originally by Gandhi. I often use this quote tell people in China why they should stand up and fight for their rights rather than taking the pass-the-buck “what can I do?” attitude, telling them that they must be the ones that change China. Seems funny that none of the Chinese people commenting here actually noticed this quote, much less draw a parallel between it and their lives.
Isn’t there like 80,000 protests each year?
This is not! It’s not! You tell ending of number one show in history? I will not!
I like the show, but I cannot explain to myself how people get so connected to TV shows. It is entertainment, not part of life.
I never really watched TV every since I got to college. Expect for Daily Show and Colbert Report or when I’m really really bored.
I really only liked the first season but I followed the whole show till the end, which was lukewarm but still felt satisfying. My nickname at the school where I teach is Michael Scofield because I have a large array of tattoos :-P.
Well, for a lot of chinese fans, Prison Break is awesome. But some of my foreign friends only fancy on the first season which they say was the most wonderful one among the four seasons. As for me, I also followed this drama for 4 years. maybe what i realy enjoy was the actor Miller.
Michael Scott is better
1st season was the only one i watched.
They should’ve ended it there. Instead, the realities of US tv intervened, and we got 3 redundant series.
Come on people! Whilst the initial concept was good, the last three seasons were utterly contrived and ludicrous!
I’m SOOO happy it’s finally over, I don’t have to suffer any more.
(Bear in mind there’s a two hour ’special’ showing how he died after the ‘last’ episode).
