As a foreigner, I would have read her sign aloud in Chinese and then give her a very tight squeeze. Maybe nationalistic young Chinese men are afraid of giving foreign beauties free hugs, but would have been more receptive if she charged 50 cents instead.

I’m sure if any Westerner made comments about Chinese women (or men) that were as racist as the suggestion by one person that (by virtue of being foreign) she’d have body odour and rough skin, every reflexive nationalist in China would be up in arms. Show respect for other people as human beings and you could be amazed – what goes around tends to come around.
