Comments from Tianya:

为虾米啊:

I think it’s because there are a lot of rich people in Wenzhou.

一只帅熊猫:

Wenzhou does have a lot of rich people, but the students of Wenzhou University are from all over China. There are only few people can meet the condition. This is too exaggerated.

aligaduo:

This is the same as the club “Skull and Bones” in old Bush’s university. But the way they show off their wealth is very nouveau riche.

萨拉丁开灯:

Wow, this is just for the second generation rich kids.

小糖粒子:

Wenzhou people are so… No wonder they can make so much money.

jsbzya:

This is totally stupid. Real rich kids wouldn’t want to be with the stupid guys in this kind of club.

一颗星星刹住车:

I strongly suggest LZ sneak into the club! Be a spy, it must will be very funny!

寞冥:

These guys are the greatest~~~~~ ╮(╯▽╰)╭

lanskey:

Birds of a feather flock together. This is just a way to look for companions who have a common objective. It is reasonable that the club is in Wenzhou. It would be weird in other cities.

molei0714:

Isn’t it obvious that the club is trying to create a class system in the university? This is brazenly! We are in China!

yorkinghu:

This is China. So, a lot of things are illegal but reasonable..

杀死JAP鬼子:

LZ must be a MM. Come and lament with us……

Indeed, it’s not exactly the first “exclusive club” in the history of universities worldwide. And the fact that they are going so broad (”won a singing competition” ? wtf.) shows that it’s yet another desperate attempt at gaining individuality through status, by any means possible. Nothing to do with skull & bones, or anything like that. Just a bunch of kids aching to stand out.

    5. Are a student studying abroad with a government connection in your family
Translation: Were you too stupid to get into a university, so mommy and daddy had to bail your failure ass out?
    6. In the top ten of any big competition, such as singing and modeling competitions
Translation: Are you good looking and willing to sleep with some pencil dicked little boy whose only strong point is the cellphone with mommy and daddy on speed dial?

Cool, confirmed as China’s version of fraternities. Just about a million times lamer, since it doesn’t even have the supposed “cool” element. Oh, and they don’t seem like they’d throw parties I’d want to attend. Congratulations on taking another step towards becoming “little” America, Wenzhou kiddies. Give me a holler when the women start turning into feminazis (oh god, I can’t imagine what could be worse than feminazis).

I would definitely join this if I was in Wenzhou. You could get a lot of tail in a club like that. There’s got to be a ton of gold diggers at every party.

I’m happy to see China becoming more and more capitalistic.

Wenzhou is not special in this respect. There are plenty of private clubs that cater to the elite, with special criteria, mostly being extremes of wealth, fame, beauty, and/or connections in every major city in China.

They are really missing the subtlety with which this kind of enterprise should be run. Exclusionary clubs shouldn’t post their requirements so bluntly. It’s extremely gauche.

Looks like a good place to meet assholes, though.

    Wow, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY TACKY!

I wouldn’t join such a club, because it is not cultured. Well, I mean in the sense of wealth. Most wealthy people are ver lucrative. Most clubs like these are invite only and they don’t post their requirements so bluntly. I would almost guess that the guy who started this club is not rich or his family just got money. That is NOT how people with money act. They are well… smarter and hopefully… better at creating exclusive groups. This whole thing smells of stupid.

Nothing against rich people here. But against some chinese rich people, who trample on poor peasents and get rich through government connections, I really doubt the quality of them. Like those descriptions are stupid, I cant even believe someone will create them and it will become popular. It just show how low the chinese society in china mainland have degraded. Everything just just about weath and connection. I would rather hang around with the hippies than people like them =p.

If you are a student studying abroad how can you be at this unknown university in China?! And what’s with the government connection and studying abroad? Do you need a government connection to get to study abroad? I don’t think so.
