More than a few times I’ve been walking on the sidewalk and had a car behind me blaring its horn, as if he should go first. I’ve talked to Chinese students about this, and they say that they wouldn’t move faster or get out of the way either in that situation. Twice a car has actually bumped me on the sidewalk in an effort to get me to move out of their way, and both times I’ve given a roundhouse kick to their grill. They shut up immediately (I’m a really big guy).

I agree a little. In the west we have the same problem as China, but its not this obvious. All over the world you are worth more with money and connections. However its only in China you can see the highest rank police officer with three meimeis in his lap. Any yes, the western policemen wish he could too…

This is why China will never be a frist world country. People don’t respect the rule of law and neither do the institutions. People in China think if they have money and connections then they are above everything. In strong democratic countries nobody is above the law, not even the President or Prime Minister. No amount of money can buy you this amount of arrogance. Until China fully implements the rule of law and the respect of it by strengthening its institutions and removing corruption then you will have idiots like this. This is why so many Mainlanders feel the need to leave to go to Hong Kong or the West.

In the states her tires would have been slashed and a brick put through her window. In a less friendly area her car would have been rolled (happened in my hometown, when an out of stater blocked a boat launch ramp). I have a little bike lane outside my house and assholes always block the entrance with their cars. Locals have taken to stacking bricks on their hoods in protest. I think people need to be less passive aggressive when people in china are assholes with their cars. If people are worried their cars will get trashed if they do stupid things with them they will be more careful.

In China, cops are essentially gangsters with a uniform and badge, they will shut the fuck up when a bigger dog comes along.

Though rarely, a helpful and righteous cop does come along.

Yea, pisses me off. I always confront people right there and then nobody is cutting infront of me in line and if they try to get in the taxi they are getting pulled straight the fuck out.

But on the other hand there are some nice people here that actually realize they aren’t the center of the universe.

In China, all the good cop you see are only in the movie.

I have once called up the police station to report a lost cellphone. The lady said, this is my problem, nobody stole it from me, so don’t report.

Next time, if you pick money on the floor, its yours.
