Video on Youku.
A niu driver that will go down in history, unbelievably daring to mess with the police this way. The rest I will not say, everyone can see for themselves! As for this driver, I am simply speechless! I admire him!
Comments from Mop:
Angering Uncle JC,
he will not escape a good beating.
Truly very 牛B.
Have you ever seen such a 牛B truck driver before?
What happened to the pol.ice?
Heh. I simply will not let you pass.
The “pol.ice” car was pretty 牛B at first with its siren, but the truck driver simply did not give a shit about that…
Indeed very 牛B, but the consequences will be also be very severe/tragic.
I bet the “pol.ice” in that “pol.ice” car had gone crazy, and will settle for nothing less than making the bastard handicapped after they get ahold of him. I was so puzzled as to why there were no toll booths, and the driver blocked [the police] a total of 44 times.
Sigh, being impulse is the devil.
It looks very amusing, but he will eventually be pulled over.
After being pulled over, it will be very tragic and very uncomfortable!!!
Getting beaten up will be inevitable, revoked driver’s license, fine, detained, do you think the police are that easy to mess with? I am truly nervous/worried for this driver.
[The original commenter wrote "波雷死" or "bei lei si" which here means "police" because it sounds a little similar.]
The police car’s driving skill was not good, there were so many opportunities to overtake/pass.
It is not that hard to overtake, but the “pol.ice” were too scared, and did not have the courage to overtake.
Too awesome.
Hopefully the next thing for this driver will not be too tragic.
At the next toll booth, he’ll be arrested for obstructing the police, and in the end, will die of a sudden illness while in detention. In China, this is the outcome.
Comments from Youku:
I truly feel bad for this driver big brother,
with such great [driving] skills, going against the usual tyrannical police man,
I bet you were really hurt at the next tollbooth…
I absolutely support you in spirit, and hope you have been released by now…
This SB police car, unable to even pass this [the truck], might as well go each shit.
To be honest, these days it is not easy being a cargo truck driver, often getting fined for no reason. If he has a lot of money, he would not have been like this. What more, some law enforcers these days simply act like big bosses, using their power to bully people.
The driver is very niu, although this is also the very last time he will ever drive.
Did this brother drink too much? The more serious you mess around, the more serious the fine!
The truck driver was eventually stopped by three police cars. His truck was carrying too much and overweight.

BJ McKay and his best friend Beer. The Chinese version.
so why is the truck driver doing this?
“Best friend Bear”, isn’t it? I liked Stacks in that show :)
The police were trying to pull the truck driver over. The truck driver either suspected the police would want a bribe or he knew that his truck was illegal (overweight) and didn’t want to stop.
I’m surprised that the truck driver was able to continue to swerve like that, if he really was overweight.
LoL, yeah, like the Chinese commenters, this truck drive has balls of steel. I’m likewise amused that the cop in a much smaller, lighter, more nimble car was completely unable to get around the truck.
I was kinda disappointed there wasn’t a more climactic finale after 7+ minutes though.
This happened on the Jinan-Qingdao highway as reported by other sources. I was driving on the same highway in summer 2007 to Yantai for vocation on an island. I like Shandong province a lot: there are many honest and warmhearted people, climate is wonderful too. Once I got lost in Jinan and later a young gentleman came to me and ask me whether I was lost. Because I was totally new to the city, he even drove his car and lead me to my destination!
What an idiot that truck driver is. What is the point?
@Jay
I’ve seen a police stop one of those little illegal tricycle drivers on a narrow road. The tricycle driver stopped, got off, police must have said he’s getting a fine or something (I couldn’t understand chinese at the time, this was years ago), the tricycle driver waited for the police to turn around…then (get this) WITH his tricycle (wide back) tried to run off…….but he ran into a very thin door in the wall that was too narrow for his tricycle. His trike went “bam” and he tried to “force” it through for about a second, when the police was on his ass..pushed him around the bend of the wall, and (from the sound of it) proceeded to whack him a few times with a club.
You may ask, “What an idiot that tricycle driver is. What is the point?”
The answer my friend, is, that’s why he’s a tricycle driver – he’s not likely the smartest of the bunch, much as I’m sure an overloaded underpaid highway truck driver in rural China can’t do multiplication tables…
I’m not very impressed with the cop’s pursuit skills.
and it was a Santana 3000 after all – we all know how fast those things go – never gonna blitz passed in any given gear
Why risk ur life being smooshed by a truck – even if ur a cop? just ride it out to the toll gate and take em out
It’s not easy to overtake a long-vehicle. Maybe Santana is fast, but also a long, heavy car with low acceleration possibilities and low elasticity.
Chinese problem with police is growing. People lost trust in pol.ice. That’s why this things happens and that’s why some graffiti are drawn on Beijing wall’s.
PS: If policeman in China damage his car, are he obligated to pay for it?
hope they cripple the idiot driver for his reckless endagerment of public safety. glad to see they had the good sense not to be as stupid as to try n overtake.
Don’t see the point in overtaking the truck. What are you going to do in front of a truck like that, wait for it to hit you? The wise thing to do would be to radio/call ahead to colleagues on the motorway to close the road ahead, block exit roads and (in a stretch of road where it’s clearly visible) block the road itself. That way no one gets hurt, except the driver from his latter beating.
How did this adventure end? Anyone know?
Well its fun being the truck driver. Its a good negotiating tactic. Try to tease the cops to give up. LOL
Thank god its not the LAPD or NYPD. They will put spikes on the highway in front and call backups for a shoot out. Well, at least Chinese police are patient and not trigger happy and shoot anything that pisses them off.
The likely rationale:
Many employers overload trucks to cut costs. The police are keen to stop trucks and fine them to make some extra money (where do you think those fines go?). The employer will likely not pay the truck driver if he has fined, or give him enough money to pay in some circumstances.
There’s not much the truck drivers can do about it, if they want to EAT FOOD TO LIVE, other than try and avoid being stopped.
Chinese problem with police is growing. People lost trust in pol.ice. That’s why this things happens and that’s why some graffiti are drawn on Beijing wall’s.

this universal theory has been governing relations between any ruling class and the ruled ever since men formed society, because its human nature to hate getting directed by others.
I thought it was a Jetta; either way, taxis make lousy police cruisers.
I could have easily passed that truck right on from the beginning, no problem. Just an amazingly stupid police driver, no professional driving skills at all !
Very funny indeed, how it ended ?
I absolutely hate those overloaded trucks. They deform the roads and endanger other users of them.
This truck driver is acting as if he got a just cause to resist or interfere with police operation.
@Rick, I don’t care whether this driver is underpaid, ill-educated or what. So he could justifiably resort to self-help because he is underprivileged?! What he is doing here is simply ridiculous, and I doubt that stupidity and lack of education are valid excuses for resisting seemingly just law enforcement.
It bothers me that some people are keen on mocking/demonizing Chinese police. I don’t know what sort of personal experiences they have had dealing with the police. Every time something comes up, the police are being accused of abusing power, using excessive force, etc. So go ahead mock them. I’m sure they will arrest those who hold them in contempt.
So I guess the rantionale is that it is cool to interfere with governmental activities whenever it contravenes individual rights in this country because the defense is that the government is corrupted.
I think the question is why did he (truck driver) did this knowing the consequences… If we look at the amount of cases over the last few months involving the general public and the authorities – Taxi strike, workers strike, people kneeling in front of police station etc…. It is not difficult to draw the conclusion that the people are starting to take the “law into their own hands” Have the authorities ever wondered why is this happening now ? Have we ever asked ourselves why are there so many speed cameras on the road and who are the ones being punished ? Why those who are suppose to uphold the law do not obey the law themselves but instead they go around punishing others when they themselves are not clean ? With the worsening economic situation, matters will just get worst – the people have nothing to loose because they do not have anything else except their own torso. What will people do when that happens ?
Anyone who said that he could overtook the truck lies. It tooks less than two secs for truck to go from one side of truck to other. If truck is 10m long, car should be faster for 10/2 = 5m/s = 18km/h. This truck is longer than 10 meters. During overtake, car should accelerate. As S = A * t^2/2 -> A = 2*S/t^2 = 5m/sec^2. So, in that two secs, car’s speed should increse at least for 10m/s = 36km/h, and that is equal to 100km/h in less than 3 sec. There’s no Santana with that possibilities. There’s no car with such elasticity to gain speed from 60km/h to 90km/h in 2 sec!
For Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TSI Sport 4dr (basic model, 2007) 0-100km/h is about 8 sec.
I applaud krdr’s scientific explanation. I’m convinced.
Hi krdr,
you indeed sound convincing, though there are more ways that lead to Rome.
Your starting point seems to be the police car keeps driving neathly behind the truck at same speed, then start accellerating (actually I find it this idea a bit symplistic) In that case you could be right.
Though you forget, behind de truck is lots of free space that the police car can uses to gain pretty high speed, in that case the laws of speed are completely different !
The policecar can gain a pretty high speed in 150 meters, right behind the truck so the truck driver can hardly see him nor has an idea what choice he’s gonna make, left or right.
At the very last moment the policecar gives the impression of passing at the right side, the truck driver reacts by going right, though the policecar chooses the left side left and in that period of time the truck can, seen his length and weight impossibly change his action without causing a crash, the policecar passed has passed him at the left side!
Easy does it !
(if you attack your enemy always use his weak points ;-)
I’ve watched enough Jackie Chan movies to know that all he had to do was jump onto the truck, run over the top of it to the driver’s cabin, swing in, punch the driver and take the wheel.
@Joko
You are right only if following conditions are fulfilled:
1) Road is strait enough to provide higher speed to police and to allow police to be hidden from truck driver
2) Police car can be driven in very high speed
3) Police car drives without lights.
Laws of speed are same in all conditions, except in case of speed near speed of light. Maybe Chinese scientist found way to implement light-speed engine to police cars…
@ krdr:
Sorry, I’m with Joko on this one. Even with a Santana, the relative disparity in size, weight, and general maneuverability suggests that there were plenty of ways for the Santana to overtake the truck (since that is what it was trying to do, not that I’m suggesting it should or shouldn’t have). The main reason the officer couldn’t was a matter of skill. Freight trucks have terrible acceleration relative to even a Santana and massive blind spots. Light speed is not necessary.
The truck driver’s fate was sealed the moment the cop decided to pull him over. Even if the cop doesn’t have the skills to overtake, the cop need only wait until the next toll booth or call backup. Now, I was a bit surprised backup didn’t arrive during the video but I suppose they all knew there was no real point if there’s a toll booth eventually. Backup can just wait at the toll booth without wasting gas.
That said, why did the cop try to overtake? Well, there’s still a chance you can force the truck to stop by getting in front of it and blocking him, forcing the truck driver to choose between finally giving up or elevating his crime to attempted murder. Either that or the cop walked into a pissing contest and simply wouldn’t give up trying to overtake despite lacking the skills necessary to do so. It appears the cop lacked the skill to overtake, but couldn’t set aside his pride either, yet was smart enough to know that at his speed, he wouldn’t be able to overtake without risking getting side-swiped, taken out of the pursuit, and get further embarrassed.
Were I the cop, one tactic I’d try (other than just cruising leisurely behind him until the next toll booth imagining how bad the driver’s gonna get it), is to just slow down and watch what the truck does. The truck will either continue or slow down as well. If the truck continues on, I get more runway to get up to passing speed. If they truck slows down or stops, it loses momentum thereby giving me the edge in acceleration. Upon reaching passing speed, it is simply as Joko says, exploit the truck’s blind spots or trick him into swerving the wrong way before passing him on the other side. This really isn’t fancy stuff, guys, but yes, if you’re at crawling speed waiting behind the truck the entire time, you won’t overtake with that Santana, so the key is in skill and tactics. The cop simply had neither (or maybe he didn’t care and was just having fun himself, who knows?).
@Kai
I cannot talk about “what if”. In this conditions, presented by this video, police car had no chance to overtake. End.
If they are on on 5 km straight road, and police car was running 100kmh faster than truck, maybe police would overtake a truck.
@ krdr:
End?
No need to be defensive. I never said anything to suggest that a different outcome is likely to be achieved with the conditions “presented by this video.” I even clearly stated that so long as the cop car remained in the situation we see in the video, driving slowly behind the truck, yes, there’s very little chance of the cop overtaking the truck. That’s why I clearly said the cop needed both skill and tactics to enable him to attain the speed to overtake, and explained several examples of how it could be done.
@Kai
Yeah, that “End” sounds very harsh. Policeman couldn’t overtake a truck, and I think there’s no need to talk about it.
We can discuss about other ways how to overtake overloaded truck, with possibilities to easy block the road.
krdr, you seems to be the person that always know better, whatever the circumstances, I hate that kind.
You better learn to manage your ego, because simply you can’t be always right, hehe..
@Joko
1) I’m always fighting form my opinions
2) When someone prove I’m wrong, I admit it. Browse trough earlier posts.
3) I cannot be always right, but usually I am right when it comes to physics: I have uni degree in electrical engineering.
It is not about ego, it is about what I’m thinking is right. Just prove me
krdr, you seems to be the person that always know better, whatever the circumstances, I hate that kind.
You know what I hate? When people run out of ideas and resort to insults in an attempt to get the last word. Personally, I’ve read a good many posts from krdr, and I disagree with your opinion of him.
Even with a Santana, the relative disparity in size, weight, and general maneuverability suggests that there were plenty of ways for the Santana to overtake the truck
I don’t know the math, but I figure the car would have to move forward faster than the truck can move left or right. (I can’t say for sure, but I’d guess that the truck driver in that video would have definitely hit that cop.)
If the road is only 10 meters wide, but the truck is 30 meters long, you can imagine the difficulties.
Here in the States, highway cops often use CB radio to ask truckers to help them with speeding vehicles, and many times it’s the difference between catching the suspect or them getting away.
On an unrelated note, did the people speaking say anything important?
(continue)
It is not about ego, it is about what I’m thinking is right. Just prove me I’m wrong.
Let’s say we must to conduct some scientific experiment. Experiments must be conducted to fulfill some precise conditions. If you change conditions, results will be different. In given conditions, police couldn’t overtake truck. In other condition they could (straight road, no fog, faster car, breaking speed limit, risk of accident…). Different conditions means different experiment.
I sometimes sounds like someone with big ego. WTF, should I be ashamed by my knowledge? Or not willing to believe to anything that Chinese youngsters put on net?
I found this vid, you NEED to check out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn-6KzJfWao
That video is Criss Angel, a pretty famous magician, at least here in the States. It’s from his TV show Mindfreak.
@ krdr:
Please re-read my comment. I think if you read it closely the first time, you would not have felt so defensive about it.
Who is trying to prove that you are wrong?
No one is. Your conclusion is that the cop could not overtake the truck given the situation shown in the video. So long as your constraining condition is that the police car remain driving slowly closely behind the truck, I’ve stated I largely agree: the chances of the cop overtaking are slim at best.
My comment in agreement with Joko was that the cop could have changed the conditions that are under his control to improve his chances of overtaking, if overtaking was his goal. Is there anything wrong with this?
No.
I do not know why you think there is “no need to talk about it.” Why are you being so insistent that no one else can even muse or discuss HOW the cop could’ve overtaken?
There was also no need for you to bring out your electrical engineering degree as some sort of badge of superior authority on all things related to this matter. For one thing, it doesn’t suggest you’re an authority on physics. For another, it says even less about your ability to solve real world problems where the human variable is present.
My suggestion is very much premised upon that human variable. That’s what skill and strategy applies to. Again, if the cop was smart and really wanted to overtake, I believe he could’ve improved his chances significantly by doing something different than just driving slowly behind the truck. What could he have done differently? I already gave some suggestions before and none of the require “light speed.”
What could he have done differently?
I think if he could have gotten the truck to speed up, then the cop could have drafted, giving him power to spare to mount a pass attempt.
Well, for the sake of discussion:
1. How would he have gotten the truck driver to speed up?
2. Do you have any idea how fast you’d have to go before drafting has much of an effect?
No, I don’t think drafting would be the most reasonable option. Now, as long as we’re ignoring the much wiser protocol of just calling it in, and we’re just focusing on how to change the situation for him to overtake, I believe the cop definitely needs to slow down or even stop (and turn off his damn siren/lights), and then use his car’s superior nimbleness to his advantage. He needs to fall back to give himself more room to gain speed, then feint. His car is much more agile than a heavy freight truck and speed increases that agility. He needs speed, and he can attain that speed with mundane methods other than suddenly having “light speed.”
The only question is whether he can think of that strategy and execute it. Judging by the video, we can only conclude he can’t or won’t. Again, maybe he didn’t think of it or maybe he just doesn’t care enough to do so (because he knows it will end at the next toll booth).
@Kai
1)Geez, Kai. Joko said that I’m wrong ’cause cop could overtake in different conditions. I said, I’m not wrong. Different conditions are different conditions. I didn’t said that cop couldn’t overtake in other cases (although, in any case that truck driver can see cop, it is very hard).
2) My degree does not give me superior authority, it gives me some authority (I had 4 different kids of physics on uni). As I said: “I’m usually right”.
3) Why all comments on this blog leads to personal things?
4) Talking about “light speed”. What speed should police care have to overtake this truck?
@Kai
One thing more, regarding light speed. Joko said that in other cases different law of physic should apply. Physics of classical mechanic applies in all cases. If speed are near the speed of light, laws of relativistic physics should be applied. All of this are high school physics. Laws of physics are universal. You cannot said that different rules applies, just because cop turn off lights and have greater will to overtake. That’s why I mention “light speed”.
I’m pretty sure that cop could overtake truck very easy if cop is driving 2 times faster than truck, and truck driver didn’t saw him or to react. That is different story.
@krdr
I am also wondering why it always leads to personal things, and in the end the entire site is dominated by a few, who work like a mafia. I don’t need to mention names. All site visitors can see for themselves.
But one needs to citically read their style for a while, and after that, it is quite easy to demolish them, as I did thrice over.
@ krdr:
Joko wrote:
His first paragraph is the same as mine. So long as the cop remains slowly behind the truck, we both agree with you that it is unlikely for the cop to overtake.
His second paragraph’s “laws of speed” does not necessarily mean he is using a different set of “physics.” HOWEVER, I fully understand how you can interpret it that way. That statement can be ambiguous or imprecisely worded. The important thing is to read the rest of his comment to understand his context. His suggestion is similar to mine: He believes the car has enough room in 150 meters to get enough speed to feint and make a reasonable attempt to pass.
Now, I disagree that 150m is enough and think the cop needs more room, hence my suggestion to fall back and increase his runway for acceleration, but that’s a minor detail. The crux of both our strategies is to gain additional speed and feint, not just drive slowly behind the truck as the cop did in the video the entire time.
I think this is a classic case of both sides arguing about different things. I agreed with Joko on his premise that there were things the cop could have done to overtake. You appear to have interpreted his statement of “the laws of speed are completely different” literally and then assumed I was supporting that specific phrase. If you’ll kindly re-read what I wrote, you’ll note that nothing I said suggests that I believe a different set of physics or “laws of speed” applies.
Do you agree?
If you do, then there’s nothing for us to argue about.
Next, please tell me what did I say to make it personal to you? Ironically, I felt you were the one who made it personal with me by saying “End” and “there’s no need to talk about it.” I didn’t personally attack you and, in fact, I was the one who was genuinely surprised by your rather unnecessarily harsh reaction to what I said, especially when you’re now also saying you don’t disagree with what I said.
So, I’m confused, krdr, what are you faulting me for and how did I make it personal?
@Joko
Your words regarding physics:
…in that case the laws of speed are completely different
Your words about me:
krdr, you seems to be the person that always know better, whatever the circumstances, I hate that kind.
You better learn to manage your ego, because simply you can’t be always right, hehe..
So, I’m ego maniac and you hate me.
(I must to work on my first-look-impression.)
All I wanted is to be recognized differences between situation on video and situation you described.
@trolls
好玩。 kdsr was apparently writing about Joko getting too personal, but that complaint has no place here anyway. This place is for trolls and kdsr is as good as complaining that Joko was just being a jackass of a troll.
And kai trolled into the ring with twisted panties, demanding explanations on where he had trolled kdsr.
Troll on if you wish and for good fun, but don’t get your feelings hurt all over, if some troll gets violently vulgar, and usually unreasonable as well, and of course, deliberately being racist here and there. Minus all these, this site will be too boring.
Actually, I need not say all these, since every troll here already knows that. I am just trying to spoil the fun. hehe.
that truck might be big but when the driver steps out he is mashed potato
This is a result of the behavior of Traiffic police …. Take Shenzhen traffic police for example, instead of performing their duty in diverting traffic in a traffic jam, they hide in their vehicles (also hidden) to take pictures of drivers who make mistakes. This is the type of police mentality and no wonder why the citizens are taking the law on their own hands now !
It seems the driver just broke out from a prison and he dared to fuck those cop or he was pretty fed up with those called dirty cops so he tried this way to release his anger.
why the hell i v never caught a sight of any silimar one. i wish i could be the camera man or though they can hardly speak MANDARIN.
I hope he was beaten to death by police special forces.
Yes, the video is already Harmonized (censored)
better not give this idea to too many Chinese..,
