@央视新闻 [CCTV]: GIFs: Look At These Smokers’ Lungs! To Extend Your Life: Give Up Smoking! — Do you know? Over 80% of lunch cancer cases are believed to be caused by long-term smoking or “second hand smoke”! In the images, the lung of someone who has smoked for 15 years is covered with large black spots, while the lung of a 30-year smoker is even more of a ghastly sight, where even the inside is covered with cancer causing substances. [吃惊] Reshare this! Quit smoking!

小白以为猫很像猪:

I bet a kuai there will be stupid cunts who say they need to smoke a cigarette to calm down/steady their nerves. [呵呵]

瓿彘氘:

Looking at these scared me to death, I need to a cigarette to calm myself.

太湖食人鱼:

Given that smoking harms the country, why do we still allow the existence of tobacco companies? Isn’t this just deceiving oneself?

绿凸子:

Scared me to death, must quickly smoke a cigarette to calm down.

Scorpio轉轉:

Why bother trying to persuade people? Those who want to quit will have quit, and those who don’t want to will get lung cancer and still not quit…

陈大喵CHENZHI:

I recommend all domestic tobacco product packaging have these images printed on them. [喵喵]

张小猫要开森哦:

Although these images are very uncomfortable…I still ask that smokers please be mindful of their second-hand smoke! To say something people don’t want to hear, it’s as if you’re slowly killing yourself but at the same time taking others with you~~

Lan家文:

Quick, must smoke a cigarette to steady myself.

有点小坏的彭大帅:

Scary, too frightening. Although I don’t smoke, I sure have had plenty of second-hand smoke… I don’t smoke, but I can’t stop others from smoking~~ Follow original literature, welcome exchanges, thank you.

你看起来很好听:

Scared me to death, I’m never going to use Weibo ever again.

Chee-__-:

It’s like black bugs. Extremely gross/nauseating.

欧_伟:

If drugs can be prohibited, why doesn’t the government prohibit tobacco? 40% of the tax government’s revenue every year comes from tobacco. Without tobacco, would the country/government die?

Cigarettes, squat toilets, and hongbaos – the flavors of China.

    • sk8erry

Fxucking squat toilet sucks, but it would suck more if all toilets are sitting toilets in China. At least you don’t have physical contact to squat toilets.

      • YourSupremeCommander

If you really have to go… you have to go. PERIOD.

        • sk8erry

I’ve used toilets worse than these. A “Pig toilet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_toilet” in Anhui Province.

        • Vance

Constipation never felt so good as it would if that pic were the only option.

        • Teacher in China

Until you’ve seen the “toilet” at first base camp of Mt Everest, you haven’t seen anything. I use the word toilet loosely – it’s more like a volcano of shit barely contained by concrete walls.

      • Ryo Saeba

Don’t tell me you never tried squatting on regular toilets? lol

    • Chris Bullock

my biggest fear studying in China was losing my wallet and eyeglasses to a squat toilet
but at least they don’t have automatic flush in most of them!

  • Mighty曹

I quit 4 days ago. Hope it’s not too late.

    • YourSupremeCommander

You did great, as a reward I will give you a pack of Marlboro reds. Enjoy!

      • Mighty曹

        Make it’s 100’s not Kings.

    • Germandude

I didn’t quit smoking but left China. I should be fine now.

      • monster

you left china? too bad, i really want to have fun with u.

    • FYIADragoon

Good luck. It’s always worth it to quit.

      • Mighty曹

        Thanks! I’ll make it.

    • Claude

There was a study in 2013 that claimed if you stop smoking by the age of 40 you can erase 90% of the damage. Looking at your pic, you don’t look 30. You’re gold, dude. Now breathing the air in China year after year?

      • Mighty曹

I’m 20 but look 30. Smoking really speeds up the aging process. hahaha.. Ok, seriously, I was smoking for over 17 years.

    • biggj

I quit like 3 months ago…maybe 4 i cant remember. I just smoke E cigs. Even now I dont even really fuck with the e cig too much. Just when Im driving I’ll smoke my e cig. I cant really feel much of a change though. Just get one of the refillable ecigs with no nicotine. It will help with the habit.

      • Jahar

I took Zyban 12 years ago. I had been smoking for 12 years. Was at 2 (Canadian) packs a day when I quit. I didn’t cough for like 5 years after that. Saved a hell of a lot of money too.

        • Mighty曹

The 30/pack? I remember smoking Export-A that came in 30’s. (or was it 25?)

          • biggj

            25

      • Mighty曹

E cigs are even more hazardous with more formaldehyde. Just stick to ganja, mon.

        • biggj

I dont know man. I know there are alot of rumors going aroud about them. I think it’s the tabacco companies that spread them. But even if they are a bit harmful…I would say not even 10% as bad as tobacco and whatever the tobacco companies add to it. E juice is just this:

          E Liquid Ingredients:

Propylene Glycol (PG) – this is used as a base or carrier for the nicotine and flavors. PG is widely used as a food additive and can be found in many things that we regularly eat. PG can also be found as an additive in some medicines.

Vegetable Glycerine (VG) – also used as a base or carrier for the nicotine and flavors in e-liquid. VG is a plant based substance and is sometimes made from coconut or palm oil. VG is also widely used as a food additive.

          Water – no explanation needed

Flavorings – food flavorings are added to create a specific taste

Nicotine – most brands offer anywhere from 0mg of nicotine to 24mg of nicotine in their e-liquid

          • Irvin

Been vaping ecig for a couple months now, best thing that ever happened to me since dongguan. Within only 2 weeks of stopping regular cig and switching to ecig, I’ve got my breath back, my sense of smell came back to me (which made me realized china smells like shit) and I generally just feels more healthy and energetic.

Don’t believe the nay sayers, ecig is the best thing that can happen for a regular smoker.

          • HI Irvin, I smoked for 16 years and quit tobacco two years ago thanks to e-cigs. I’ve experienced all of the positive side effects that you also claim.

I don’t want the e-cig to be the final destination, but it surely is a bridge to getting me to be completely nicotine-free.

If I use the e-cig for 8 more years and then finally quit, I’m sure it would be better than smoking cigarettes for however long.

All of the formaldehyde propaganda has not yet been peer reviewed or accepted yet.

Congrats, too, on quitting. Awesome, ain’t it?

            Peace

          • Irvin

My friend’s father who smoke a pack a day for 40 years and was able to quit using 24mg nic ecig. I myself was on 18 mg when I started, I’m now down to 6mg.

Personally I don’t really care much for completely quitting nicotine since the worst part of smoking which cause cancer isn’t nicotine, it’s tar and all the other chemicals during combustion.

The biggest problem was the delivery of the nicotine itself, the cigarette, after on ecig for all this time, just taking one pull from a regular cig makes me cough and sick. That when you know it’s making a real difference.

            Take care, vape on.

          • That’s terrific that their father was willing to try an alternative. It’s never too late, I think. Thanks – and you! :-)

  • 42

smoking is actually a pretty retarded hobby.

    • monster

better than look for free sex online day and night.

    • biggj

You are right. It’s a bad habit….but man it looks cool. :) I quit but I still smoke a cigar from time to time.

      • Joey

It looks cool if you’re 12.

        • biggj

smoking a cigar looks cool man…especially if you’re wearing a suit. lol

          • Irvin

Smoking a cigar naked is even cooler, when you see a chick walks by you can say “you want one? I got another one right down here”.

  • monster

    i smoke half package everyday.
    so cool@!
eat too much can not sleep now. also too excited to register today, hahaaha!

    • Germandude

      Lol wut?

      • monster

        ??????

    • 宋易

Please, smoke more. The world can’t get rid of you soon enough.

      • biggj

Shit man, you cold as ice son. lol

        • 宋易

She’s really annoying and purposely stupid.

          • biggj

I dont think it’s an act man. lol

          • 宋易

She’s really annoying, and unfortunately stupid.

          • Mighty曹

            Is that Etot?

          • biggj

            I think so

        • 宋易

And I really fucking goddamn hate smokers. I just came from my pool…. motherfuckers smoke even in the locker room. Can’t even go to a place designated for being healthy without some low-life scum blowing smoke in your face while you’re getting read for a 2K swim.

So, please, smokers, smoke up… smoke 6 packs a day. Die faster. Leave your family broke and in ruins. You really deserve it.

          • biggj

I take it you are in china? lol

          • 宋易

            Totally.

          • biggj

I got no problem really with smokers….indoor smoking sure thats not too cool. But anywhere else..have it. I do miss smoking in a bar….I dont smoke anymore but that would be the only place I would allow it. It’s no different that driving a car. That will kill you faster from the exhaust than second hand smoke will….outdoors not inside. But no one wants to ban cars.

          • 宋易

I don’t have a problem with people smoking in the bar. I expect there, I go there knowing people are going to be smoking. The goddamn gym is not a place to smoke. I suppose I should say “I really fucking goddamn hate inconsiderate, shameless assholes who smoke while holding children, while driving a cab, or while changing in the locker room.”

Moreover, smoking is for fucking teenagers and college students. If you’re over 25 and you’re still smoking, grow the fuck up and be an adult. If you have kids, for GOD fucking sake, grow the fuck up and stop digging yourself into a hole of poverty and bad health to leave your children to inherit.

Cars have a useful purpose. Smoking has absolutely no positive effect on anyone, anywhere, at any time.

          • simon

i didn’t smoke most of my life, only started smoking this year, i’m 27, my office is filled with people who smoke and occasionally i find one cigarette does help relieve stress.

          • 宋易

Probably some breathing exercises without the poison would do you better.

          • Jahar

I love the gym smokers. Walk on the treadmill at 2 kph for 3.5 minutes while playing with their phones, wearing jeans and shoes, then they go smoke.

          • Teacher in China

I’m with you 100%. Even going to the fucking HOSPITAL and seeing DOCTORS smoking inside…I don’t know if those things still happen in the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd tier cities, but here in buttfuck middle of nowhere Dongbei it does. Every time I get in an elevator with someone smoking, I honestly want to punch them in the face. You couldn’t wait just the 1 fucking minute to light it up?

          • Probotector

Then there’s the ones that come to your house, decorators/repairmen and so forth who light up before they start doing any work you’re fucking paying them for!

          • Probotector

If only smoking (and alcohol for that matter) was a faster killer. Anyway, I love the Chinese mantra: you should drink hot water, eat more noodles and veg, then lets g for a smoke and compete at drinking baijiu

          • 宋易

            Wear more clotheses.

          • Edward Kay

Unfortunately, smoking won’t make you broke unless you get sick and spend it on chemo. Then again, compared to drugs, booze, flirting and gambling; this is the least worrisome one.

          • 宋易

That’s what I’m talking about… smokers pay enormous sums of money over time to make themselves horribly ill, then spend enormous sums of money just before they die trying to live a bit longer. Hahahaha.

When people do drugs and drink, it does not directly affect the people around them. Flirting and gambling… no idea how you’re trying to compare these to tobacco.

  • YourSupremeCommander

And I thought only smoking a BBD can give you black lungs. How naive.

  • Xia

Chinese smokers may quit smoking, but can Chinese non-smokers quit breathing smog? They should be called smoggers.

  • narsfweasels

Want to half the number of smokers in two days, and end all smoking in China within a week? A new slogan:

    “Smoking makes you Japanese.”

    • Jahar

I still think half t he reason they hate japan so much is because they secretly envy them.

      • Diule

Im sure Chinese are so jealous of Japan. cuz they are short and all with beautiful teeth. and like to dry hump US’s leg!

        • Jahar

Shouldn’t you be posting this gibberish on netease or sina weibo?

    • JayJay

Don’t think it will help that much Mild Seven is a popular brand there

    • fury

you dont understand, Chinese consider Japan as a much more advanced civilization. And they also consider them as evil. So it is very complicated to say whether we hate or love Japanese.

      • TheInconvenientRuth

It is very simple. You want to be them, but you don’t want them to be them.

      • wingedgenius

No, it seems to be relatively simple: Due to Japanese invasion of China during WWII, China got made to look like a bunch of fools. They hate Japan for doing that. Now, today, China is trying to be more advanced than Japan. They like the advanced part of Japanese society, not their history and rest of culture.

Unlike numerous other “gray zone” topics in Chinese society, this one is pretty clear-cut.

        • Alex Dương

Due to Japanese invasion of China during WWII, China got made to look like a bunch of fools.

Isn’t this implying that the invasion was unexpected or that this wasn’t “supposed” to happen? By 1937, Japan had been ahead of China for more than four decades.

          • wingedgenius

I would imagine in the popular Chinese mindset that it wasn’t “supposed” to happen and they like to have thought their defense was sufficient enough to keep them out. I’m sure they knew it was coming.

          • Alex Dương

I think that by then, they had been “over it” for some time. Many Chinese studied in Japan after the First Sino-Japanese War, for example; they knew that the tables had turned. I don’t know for sure, but I’d think that the “popular Chinese mindset” was pretty well aware of how much weaker China was compared to Japan in the 1930s.

          • vincent_t

My view is that back then they knew they were way behind Japan, and they knew Japan was ambitious (together with other foreign powers) but they just hope that they have enough time to make progress and change the tide. The whole country just overthrown a feudal system and recovering, with the KMT government busy uniting the country by taking down the warlords 1 by 1, educating the people, trying to kick start their dead economy and bam! The Japanese invaded, and lead to civil war then the lunatic Mao screwed the whole nation. That explains the hatred I believe?

        • fury

not only the Japanese society but also the Japanese culture which is our good student better then their chinese teacher.

      • Irvin

It’s a love hate relationship, we love their porn and their erotic fantasies and we hate that they act out their fantasies on us during ww2.

  • FYIADragoon

It would be nice if they could get some hardcore enforcement of indoors smoking bans going on. Then they could move on to pushing them away from the perimeter of store entrances. Seeing chengguan beat someone’s ass for smoking indoors or in a bathroom would be a welcome change.

    • Vance

We voted for laws like that in Ohio. No smoking anywhere indoors at public places unless like a cigar club or something and must stay 30 feet from the doors. It is actually pretty nice not having our clothes smell like smoke every time we go out. Of course, now they’ve got people out campaigning all the time to ban whatever it is they don’t like since it was successful against smoking. That is annoying.

      • Jahar

Canada has been like that for 15 years now.

    • Teacher in China

Honestly can’t see a smoking ban being successful here. Maybe in another decade or so, but the way things are right now, no one is ever going to enforce anything in their restaurants/cafes, whatever. And I don’t think the police have the manpower or balls to enforce it either.

      • Edward Kay

I was seen as rude or proud when I left to smoke outside the restaurant since there was a bloody big sign on the wall. They are not even bothered by others whom keep fanning the smoke away. And no restaurant operator will risk offending a paying customer.

        • NeverMind

Once in China, I was almost on the verge of punching 1 guy who was smoking in the restaurant near our table. But, then I told myself ‘their country, their laws’. Now, whenever I visit China I just ignore people that are smoking near me, because how many can a guy punch in one day?

          • Probotector

Yeah I gave up trying to get people to follow the rules… 3 years ago now, I think.

      • vincent_t

Just wondering, anyone feel the same in France and Italy? I thought situation in China is bad enough, but then found out that in Italy and France public smoking is equally bad if not worse. People are smoking in train station, while walking in the crowd, puffing right next to their toddle in the park and so on. I admit, that really gave me Paris Syndrome.

        • Teacher in China

Surprised to hear that, at least on the indoors part. Smoking in crowds outside and in the park is pretty common everywhere. Of all the places I’ve visited, Japan was the only place that had the common sense to even prohibit smoking on the sidewalks (in Tokyo at least).

    • Dax

Getting people to stop smoking in hospitals would probably be a good start.

      • guest

Getting Doctors to stop smoking while examining a patient would be better

  • Zen my Ass

If not the smoking, urban pollution will kill you…

    • bzhmaddog

Not an excuse to continue to smoke and kill others with you.

  • bzhmaddog

As a person who never smoke. If I ever get a lung cancer due to second hand smoking. I swear I am going to become a serial killer and kill any smoking person I can before I die !!!

    • Jahar

Whenever my sister lights up around me, I always ask her how she will feel if that’s the cigarette that kills one of her kids.

      • redgirls

I dont know my father in law died two yeas ago from brain cancer spread from his skin , a biopsy on a freckle on his nose to his lungs to his brain he never smoked in his life nor his wife or children..???

        • Jahar

I don’t know what that has to do with my comment.

        • redgirls

Sorry that was for bzhmaddog. My mistake.

  • redgirls

Oh man I need to watch this every morning before I even think of missing smoking. Two heart attacks and three stents put in last year and I still wanna light up most days, tells you just how addictive smoking really is. It really is a killer. They should post this in my country too, daily..

    • biggj

They do in mine and does not help at all, They almost take up half the label. There are more labels than this…I just cant find the rest….. BTW how old are you…and are you a girl? I know that sounds weird….but curious on the whole heart attack thing.

      • redgirls

Not a girl a 42 year old woman as it happens with inherited heart disease unfortunately and an X smoker to booth. Not proud of any of it either. C’est la vie.

      • Jahar

I miss those. The impotent one was my fave.

  • 宋易

    To hell with smokers….

Wish cigarettes killed their users much more quickly.

    • Mighty曹

      Yeah!

  • biggj

That lung is just the average 10 year old living in Beijing.

  • Poodle Tooth

    They’re camouflaged.

  • vincent_t

Luckily I live my life by 3 healthy rules: no drinking, no smoking and exercise regularly. The problem is i also proud of being a man that love to break rules.

    • SimpsonsGoldenAge

      No drinking?

      • David

No drinking and no smoking is pretty easy. You should add No caffeine.

        • SimpsonsGoldenAge

Caffeine and alcohol can actually be good for you in the right amounts though.

  • Amused

Meh, fuck the e-cigs and other crutches. If you live in China and want to quit, just start breathing a little deeper when you walk outside and you can get your fix.

  • AbC

Quick solution: add a bit of cyanide to every cigarette. If smokers are willing to kill themselves slowly, might as well speed up the process.

  • Amused

Sweet Jesus but look at the bitchfest the non-smokers are having. Bwahahaha!

  • Mighty曹

Thanks for the support. Now I’m under the burden to not let you down. I’ve always been working out so I should exceed some of the routines I’m doing now.

  • SimpsonsGoldenAge

China is basically the US in the 90s,,,,so behind

    • David

You mean the 1890’s? Sure as shit not the 1990’s.

      • Kai

No, pretty sure he’s talking about the 1990s, and it is in the context of anti-smoking PSAs and legislation, meaning China is trying to publicly discourage smoking like how the US did in the 90s. He’s not saying China overall is like the US in the 90s, just with regards to the anti-smoking movement.

I’m trying to remember when smoking areas in restaurants started disappearing and when we got a lot of anti-smoking commercials on TV and I think it was indeed in the 90s.

        • David

Yes, I can see that, anti-smoking activism was hardcore in the 1990s in the U.S. I think much of the legislation was passed in the early 2000s but it was due to the law suits against the tobacco companies in the 1990s. Much of the anti-smoking commercials in the 2000s were funded by money won in those law suits. So I guess the difference is in China the government is actively trying to campaign against smoking (information is always a good thing) but in the U.S. it was activists with money won from the tobacco companies. Having never smoked a cigarette in my life it is hard to have sympathy for smokers but I think things have gone too far. I want people to be polite in restaurants, but other than that they should be able to kill themselves if they want (I am very libertarian when it comes to personal freedoms) but should not be free to sue the companies that sell them the cigarettes.. Second hand smoke, despite the hype, has not been shown to be the same kind of health hazard as smoking.

    • TheSeer

China think that by copying the US they will become a great nation, that’s why they have yellow school buses for e.g., they hardly understand that free thought and democracy are what made the US what they are today, and these are two things that China can’t copy without the leaders giving up their power (they won’t, ever)

  • monster

    what?
    you call me mom?
    are you idiot?

  • Irvin

Most people don’t understand that most of the big tobacco companies in china is own by the state. China will never ban cigarette.

  • Species Deceases

This won’t change anyone in China. Most Chinese don’t give a shit about anything except money.

    • YourSupremeCommander

You got it sunshine, you are not so dumb after all!

      • Species Deceases

It’s my fault for hoping China will somehow, someday get better. Maybe i should just give up like Chinese people do.
