Beijing has won its bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics after it beat its sole remaining rival bidder Almaty, Kazakhstan by four votes. Originally the cities of Oslo, Stockholm, Krakow and Lviv also made bids, but later cancelled them. With only two cities remaining, Beijing emerged victorious after gaining 44 votes.
