China’s Population Becoming Taller and Fatter

Head of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Wang Guoqiang revealed various statistics on the nations health recently. He expressed that nutrition from food had increased notably from 2002-2012, causing the overweight adult population to increase from 22.8% to 30.1%, with obesity rates increasing by 4.8 percentage points to 11.9%. Average heights also increased to 167.1cm for men and 155.8cm for women. One netizen was sure the south was lagging behind, saying that junior high school girls in the north east were over 162cm, with males over 175cm.
